It's fairly simple to "port" I guess, as far as I know the process consists of: downloading the MiMax ROM and copying over the hardware files from our Kenzo MIUI-7 ROM, of course before any of this your either going to need system dumps or a way to extract the firmwares, and even then you'll need to put together an update-script to properly flash it all, and then you can start testing stuff out to see what works/dosnt and then you rinse and repeat until everything works, I've done this before for another device and although it did boot, there were countless issues and the entire process is archaic and pointless tbh, building from source (but we can't since MIUI is closed source so id say just wait for MIUI8 lol) would be easier in some sense since having the source upfront helps you have an idea of wtf is actually going on compared to the guess work that is copying & pasting libs and stuff from /system/etc, my point is, just wait till June 28th or whenever were supposed to have MIUI-8 since hacking together an M based MIUI-7 for our device based on another devices firmware with "similar" hardware would just be painful and I'd feel sorry for you if you had to do such, then again I could be awfully wrong and the entire thing may work (it is quite possible) relatively easily considering the familiarity of the hardware, I just wouldn't expect it to be bugless, but someone please do prove me wrong, I'd be happy.

1. I have ported Roms for Micromax canvas music, Micromax unite 2. They were mtk. I have themed complete rom for LG l 3 e405. It was Qualcomm.
2. Flashing will be block based. If what I have planned will work.
3. We have no other better option to get marshmallow right now. And I live in present.
4. Without trying I can't know if it is a good idea or not. What I will loose? Few hours. What many will gain? May be a stable marshmallow miui 7.
Be positive.

I think you will be founder of quick charge 2.0 for RN3 if you can port this rom :good:

Here you have a beta tester of your work men! Good luck

Nice..can you please port to MTK?

The leaked version of

It's possible to port cyanide mod

Hi guys you know if it's possible to port cm 11.? If yes why nobody port Already?
Sent from my SM-P605 using XDA Free mobile app
It is an easier task for SM-P605 since it uses S800 CPU which has open source-ish drivers which can help devs a lot while compiling a rom from source. Looks like nobody wants to take on this yet since it requires lots of time and knowledge
SM-P600 & P601 & P602 are a bit unlucky since they use Exynos CPU's which we have less source and experience on. Somebody can port from Note 3 with experience in porting (should be easier than building ground-up drivers for now).
Cyanide? Rotfl
On a serious note though...
There have been (successful) bounties for new roms recently and I wonder if we could also get some CM / AOSP love
All we need is a willing CM dev & another bounty, right?
(I'm still on stock, no root, no knox tripping and I don't void my warranty for a touchwiz rom... I would for a CM / aosp rom + kernel though...)
edit: a working CM or AOSP rom + kernel would probably also attract more devs, since most roms are based on either one of them (e.g. slim, paranoid android, etc are all based on AOSP [with their own modifications of course])
I want to port it, but i'm not able to port a fully working ROM, and not have time to fix all.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Wasn't clear from your post, did you try to port it but not get things working?
I will probably attempt to port CM11 to the P605. I just got one, and I've worked on OmniROM in the past but this is the first time I have tried to bring up a device from scratch so it will take some time (well, not really from scratch, I'm banking on the fact that the Note 3 and Note 10.1 2014 are quite similar so that that might hopefully save me some time). The other issue for me specifically is that the seal on the box was already broken when I got it so I might want to try to return it, if any issues crop up. So first I need to figure out if I can root it without tripping Knox so that I can do some diagnostic stuff and try and figure out if the device has any problems and/or was a returned device.
But if we're lucky, I think I can port CM, though most likely I won't have a lot of time to do this until mid-June so before then I'll just see what I can do in a short amount of time. Afterwards I'll attempt bringing up Omni as well but I'll attempt CM first since CM actually supports the Note 3 LTE (I tried doing an Omni bringup for Note 3 too, but ran into some issues and haven't had time to debug further).
Just noticed that cyanogenmod is apparently already working on a galaxy note 3 exynos build ( http://www.cyanogenmod.org/blog/this-week-in-cm-apr-26-2014 ) and since note 3 and note 10.1 2014 share the same hardware, i'm sure someone will be able to port it
(Xluco is doing pretty much the same thing with his kernel... porting features over from a note 3 exynos kernel)
I'm quite excited for this, cm will be reason enough for me to finally root my device and like I said a working cm rom + kernel will probably attract more devs (since a lot of roms are based on cm) [emoji106]

[09-06]SailfishOS & Multirom. How to set up guide

Hi sailors out there
When I'm going to read through the available sailfish threads the question about how to set up multirom & sailfish have been asked many times. So I thought I'm writing this little guide. I describe the procedure along the nexus 4 mako. But it have to be very similar on other devices like nexus 5 for example. The important parts that differs from mako are the kernel and modem image you've to use. I will describe the easiest way in my opinion. Experienced users have more capabilities to reach the goal. I will not describe how to install twrp recovery and unlock bootloader. Both are prequesites. Please use xda search or google to get this. But this little guide want's to be simple as possible. So let's begin .
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beginning:
First we have to detect you're actual setup and where you want to go. Because nexus 4 is up to date I think the most common goal is to run android 4.4 as primary and sailfish os as secondary. Atm I have only paranoidandroid 4.4 on my device and will show you how to get everything working.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements / Download following parts:
kernel aosp: http://d-h.st/A99
kernel cm: http://d-h.st/CCn
aosp = android open source rom. Ask in you're rom thread what version you're on with the rom
cm = cyanogen mod rom. Ask in you're rom thread what version you're on with the rom
Modem for nexus4 in version 0.84: http://d-h.st/cIJ
or
through an app in play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bpear.makomodem&hl=de
sailfishOS ea4: http://releases.sailfishos.org/sfa-ea/sailfishos-mako-release-1.0.8.19-EA4.zip
cm 10.1.3: http://get.cm/get/aWH
Multirom manager in play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tassadar.multirommgr&hl=de
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before we're going on check up the following
1. All zip's you've downloaded have to be transferred on the device
2. Apps from play store are installed
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installation process
Reboot in twrp recovery
Flash the new kernel
Flash the modem 0.84 in twrp. Or via the modem flasher from playstore. It's you're decision.
Boot back into android
Proof the functionality in android withe the new modem and kernel. Wlan working? Bluetooth? NFC?
Open mutlirom manager. Follow the installation steps.
After some time you'll be back in android. You have now the right modem, kernel and and a twrp multirom version on you're device
After this. Please reboot back into twrp recovery
There select the advanced button.
Then the multirom button
Select add rom and mark up the entry sailfish os
Press next.
Now you can choose two zip files to flash
zip1: Select the cm10.1.3 zip file
zip2: Select the sailfish EA4 zip file
Installation process is beginning.
After this select reboot
You automatically went into multirom where you can cancel the automatic boot process for the primary rom. Then you can select which rom you want to start.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And the most important thing is to read: http://forum.xda-developers.com/jolla-sailfish/general/qa-sailfish-n4-thread-devices-t2727330 for further question before you ask. I have described there many things to start with sailfish. If you find this useful think about to press the thanks button.
I'm a bit confused why do you insist on updating the modem? I checked my modem version and it is newer so I imagine there is no need to update. Also why use such an old version ov CM?
Just asking because I did all according to your instructions except I used newer CM build and didn't update my modem firmware as it was already newer. But for some reason Sailfish wont boot. It just hangs showing Google at start.

Ahh ok nevermind got it working once I used the older CM image. Wifi seems not to be working but I guess that is because I didn't downgrade my modem firmware. I guess I'll wait for a more stable builde or better yet buy a Jolla phone. Just like having the nexus 4 as I can test bunch of operating systems on it.

Ok thanks for the hint. I used to be one of the early adopters of Jolla, but couldn't use it as my daily phone so I sold it, but now that the OS has matured I think I maybe swithing back. Even though I still think Nokia N9 had far better UI experience. If only some would port N9 UI to Sailfish

They've practically done nothing since pre-release to improve and refine the UI, and so many incredibly basic features are missing (voicemail notifications, global copy and paste etc). The pulley menus are ropey and the active covers feature hasn't really been made use of much. They seem to be mainly concentrating on the Jolla Launcher for Android, which will definitely make them higher profile ... but if all their software engineers and UX guys are working on that instead of Sailfish itself, then it seems like cutting off their nose to spite their face.
I'm not a fan of Android and I can't see myself ever using WP or iOS, but the lack of progress and their production priorities are a bit dispiriting. I'm hoping that they're holding a lot of big and waited for improvements for update 1.1 (October).
Anyway, I'll keep it as my main phone for a bit longer, despite the fact that I have a Z3C coming early next week. Hope to see a decent Sailfish port for it soon.

Don't think I'll regret getting the Z3C, from a hardware perspective ... held one the other day, as a friend had been gifted one by Sony. It's absolutely superb. Granted, I despise Android .. but for when the Jolla ****s itself / runs out of battery / when GPS or a camera is needed / roaming / skype /outdoor use, I can suffer it until there's a Sailfish port.
Hopefully as work is already under way for the One Plus One, the identical SoC used in the Z3 & Z3C won't be too much additional work.
For all the moaning and groaning about Mediatek, I'm guessing the simplest and best port of Sailfish will probably be for the Meizu MX4, as there'll be an Ubuntu ROM for it, and libhybris is used by Ubuntu Phone ...
Also, hopefully future iterations of the HADK will smooth out some of the problems porters are facing.

it's the same for me...
The SoC in your z3c and 1+1 is actually the same as in z1c, I guess – 8974 vs 8974ac – only higher clocked.
You should not suppose that mediatek SoCs will be easier in general just because of is one working device. Jolla runs a Snapdragon and it works perfectly, most of the devices sailfish is currently ported to run snapdragons – with very different results.

I wasn't saying Mediatek in general will be easier (though it's possible), but any device with an official Ubuntu ROM certainly will (should) be - Meizu MX4 (Mediatek) is the first of those.
P.S. The Z3C is fantastic ... though unfortunately in black as opposed to the red I ordered (it's being swapped tomorrow).
Thank you very much for these instructions. i have one question though. In order to download CM 10.1.3, it says to click that link which takes you to download CM installer app. Ive used that app before and as far as I kmow, it doesnt let you choose which version of CM you want to install, instead it just sets you up to install the newest CM 11. I downloaded 10.1.3 from their site. Either way, no big deal.
Also, which kernel do I download to install? Aosp or CM?
Thank you
Still up to date
Hi,
are these steps still up to date or should we follow a different set up guide to install the latest sailfish OS on the Nexus 4? Because most, if not all, the links on the first page end up 404...
Bluetooth sync from Jolla to Nexus 4
Flashed my Nexus 4 with the factory 4.2.2 from google with radio .48 and then flashed cm-10.1-20131003-SNAPSHOT-TREATFORCOOPER-mako-signed.zip because that seemed to be the 10.1.3 mentioned in the guides to end up flashing the latest sfos from this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/development/rom-sailfish-os-community-port-t2969823.
I didn't try calling, it has 3G network working and wifi is working but I can't seem to get the contacts from my Jolla phone using the Bluetooth sync from the settings.
Anybody has some advice on this?
Just had a good look at the wiki of devices on the mer website and found out the bluetooth is not yet working on the Nexus 4...
Works perfectly on my oneplus one

Best ROM for Redmi 4 Prime as of right now

Hey guys,
I am currently running a beta of MIUI EU (it was one of the first original ROMs) however I want something new and stable. If I flash the stable MIUI EU I need to flash it from scratch and delete data, so I might as well see whats out there.
What is the most stable ROM for us currently?
My requirements in a ROM are the below;
- Fingerprint Sensor
- Encryption
- No bloatware
- Stable
- Receives OTA updates
- Good battery management (MIUI actually does a pretty good job of this AFAIK)
I am currently looking into EPIC and Resurrection however I want the one that will be receiving updates going forward etc.
Please let me know your thoughts of what you guys are using and why etc.

Currently the only custom rom that usable is mokee 6 by razziell, but no OTA. Else use xiaomi.eu like your current choice.
All nougat custom rom currently suffer from either fingerprint, gps and camera bug due to lack proper driver from xiaomi. MIUI 9 based on nougat will fix those problems.

When you say "the only custom rom that (is) usable", are you taking into account the latest unofficial lineage os 13 by Jacoghi? I'm referring to lineage-13.0-20170506-UNOFFICIAL-markw that isn't available on Xda, but only on Bruno Coghi's YouTube channel.
It has everything working and covers all the items on that checklist, except for OTA updates.
It's my daily driver and it works great.

I guess it is already unusable on the sole ground that is hasn't June security patches.
Does 20170506 mean 2017-June-5 or 2017-May-6?

If you go by that criteria, then probably 99% of all Android devices are unusable...
What you probably mean is that it is not the best case scenario. But there's a huge difference between not the best and unusable. And having just the May security updates, although not absolutely great, is still pretty good.
Sure I'd love if the dev kept releasing updates, but i think my device is pretty safe for the time being.

Thanks for all the replies. I am really torn between them now. The Miui EU stable offers a lot, but it's still bloated like anything and will prob run very heavy like the current one I'm running.
If I opt for something else no OTA and some features will be broken.
Hmmm

WTF? does it even make sense the thing you're saying? "If I opt for something else no OTA and some features will be broken"?! Just try something yourself, watch reviews of the ROMs that exist for our device and choose yourself the one that you think that attracts you the most

High accuracy gps still drain battery faster than on Razziell mokee rom. Also Razziell rom more updated since jacoghi shift development to nougat.

Yeah so what Im saying, is it worthwhile using something that maybe I sacrifice the OTA but the rest is absolutely amazing, or stick with something a bit heavier but it has the OTA ie. MIUI EU Stable.
I use my phone for work so I cant really be messing around with something that isnt pretty stable and reliable you know.

Personally I have never ever used OTA, and can't really understand the requirement of a ROM to have it.
There are a lot of stable ROMs out there. Mokee, Lineage OS 13, and I'm currently using AOKP with no issues.
If you want something more like stock try Epic ROM.
Else just use MIUI EU Stable.
I tried a few roms. Epic seems steady for work n battery.
Think it's about half the weight of global about 900 mb approx.
I get nearly 4 days if phone was in ideal.
17.5 hrs sot strong WiFi, screen 20% no sim..

Are you able to use fastboot? If not then you bricked your device, either deep flash cable or test point could bring back your device. Never trust someone to flash rom to your device before you do research on the rom, kenzo and markw is different device and have different SOC.
It only make sense if you try to flash mido (Redmi Note 4) rom since they have same SOC, but don't try this. Only flash rom that are build for markw.

[ROM PORT REQUEST] MIUI 9 for Mi5 based on Android 8.0 Oreo by Xiaomi.eu to Z2 Plus

Hi Devs,
It's a humble request to all Experienced (Recognized) Developers/Young Developers/Members of XDA to PORT MIUI 9 ROM based on Android 8.0 Oreo for Mi5 by Xiaomi.eu to our beloved Z2 Plus device...
I know MIUI 9 by YouLinw exists for our device, but that PORT is purely based on Chinese build of MIUI 9 for Mi 5 based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat and is very limited to global users. No international user understands Chinese very well and they prefer the language in their preferred locale and Xiaomi.eu project enables the same and provides multi-language Official ROMs (PORT) by Xiaomi. Plus it is backed up by built-in Google Apps, so there's no need to perform any Gapps installations after flashing the ROM itself and is TWRP friendly ROM...
User/Dev Narshi Shukla has done exceptionally well in maintaining the MIUI 9 thread and providing help/support for that particular ROM PORT by YouLinw and changing/modifying many aspects of the PORTED ROM itself to make the ROM more usable to Global end users but still it lacks these three points, First is Android Oreo build and Second Gapps and Thirdly the addition of International languages/locale.
Considering the above benefits of having Globalized version of MIUI 9 for our Z2 Plus, that too on 8.0 Oreo build and with GApps included is something that many users are looking for...
I was trying to PORT this ROM my self but I'm facing technical problems with my PC hardware, as such my motherboard has got damaged and was sent for repairs to Service Centre and is with them since last few weeks and till now, no report on repairs done by them/working condition/service completion of hardware by the concerned SC... So I would request other Devs to Kindly step forward, if possible, please...
Your efforts are always appreciated and welcome guys...

Well, atleast let the ROM go stable for Mi5, as it is released just few days ago in beta. After proper release, porting maybe an option.

Agreed but the ROM is already out of Internal Alpha Testing to Private Beta Testing to Public Beta/Developer/Weekly ROM now... We can wait... There's no issue in waiting for this ROM to get PORT though...

Some users reported heat and just 3 4 hours sot, force closes here and there and there are many Oreo features are missing,
Let it progress and lets see how stable it will be after 2 3 updates,
Porting Xiaomi eu roms among other are in my list, but time management is a problem for me so it may take time.
Hope to see more devs/users trying to port MIUI based on global Branch.

That's what I said but I think MIUI 10 will be properly compatible with Oreo as MIUI is always little late implementing all the features from AOSP like the amount of time taken them to apply notification reply.

Pixel Experience Port (Need Sources Code)

Hello Guys after a lot of search i decided to port a pixel Experience Android Pie Rom for Nokia 5
But first I Need Nokia 5 Sources Code
CAN ANYONE PROVIDE THE SOURCES CODE.
HMD Global still not release it for Nokia 5. But what I know, is that the Moto G3 has the same specs as Nokia 5. Can we use it to replace the Nokia 5 source code?
Be ready coz i started port miui 10 theme
And i am 100% sure that i can make bug free rom
Rom will be ready for flashing before 5 Jan.

Sorry! But can I know how to do that? I really want to learn about porting and building rom. But I don't know how to begin.
After port miui 10 rom for nokia 5. I will guide you how to port.
Thank you! It will be better if you make a video, or we chat together
Is Pixel Experience even worth on such a phone? I think we're more in need of LineageOS, no? ;s
So you are porting two roms?

stop giving us a fake hope like HMD did. it's already 8th january 2019.
Bro I'm port rom as well as testing the rom myself and cheking every bug. Thats why i take more time
But trust me i m try to provide this rom fully stable.
Can we use Nokia 6's source code and roms since it has the same hw like Nokia 5?
I'm porting the rom not build rom .as i know in porting rom case not required kernal sources
Waiting for this custom rom
Why HMD Global not release Nokia 5 source code? Of we can use Nokia 6 source code for Nokia 5?
If you have updated to android pie on your Nokia 5 ,
Since Nokia phone have stock Android experience ,
You just need to install the pixel 3 launcher port ,
XDA link :- https://www-xda--developers-com.cdn...launcher-google-assistant-search-bar-pixel-3/ , I don't know if this work on Oreo , it works great on my Nokia 5

The only bad thing is that when you go into the overview you can't see the apps at the bottom which is annoying and the stock launcher cannot be disabled so it runs in the background and uses up memory
