What ROM are you using and why? - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all! Here you can share what ROMs you use on the Moto X Play device. Why have you chosen that ROM, what's the name? And if you want link the download for other users to see! :good:

RR - Best stability, Best customistaion

XDrom, for privacy reasons

1) rr
2) krexus
3) tesla
4) xosp
all with multirom
Just for fun, I'm a flashaholic.

I use XOSP ROM at the moment as big fan of sony xperia software. Might try some of your suggestions as well though.

Custom Rom: RR the best, stability, customitation, battery life!!
Stock Rom: Epsilon v1 : stability like a stock with included squid kernel

Its so personal. I like it simple and clean. Stock or debloated roms only. Mostly i get lost in all the extra settings and menu's and realize I never gonna use and need all this extra stuff that ruins my sot and return to stock the next day.

I find that as well, although have started experimenting with those settings. I am now experimenting with the Resurrection Remix ROM. You should definitely check and experiment with the settings at some point.

Yup, its the most feature rich rom. Happy experimenting. Why i chose RR is because there are no bugs for me like the camera hdr bug or inability to store to sd card through inbuilt cam. Also its officially supported by themes.

Stock ROM with Xposed because I like the stability and battery life is good.

Cyanogenmod 13 and RR are good but their battery is really bad,im on stock and is the best.

i always end up back on stock + xposed on all phones i got .

For me the best is plain CM13. Has all the features I use and more and most roms use it as basis for varous thins like security updates.

I don't give heed to SOT now. Although it between 5+ hrs i guess.

AICP. 'Cos the OTA update works, and the nighties mostly keep up with the latest CM13 updates. And AICP Extras!

Too many roms, which one should I choose ? Which one is the best ?

I browse XDA everyday and these days there are so many new custom roms for OPX. I'm so confused choosing the one to be flash on my OPX (E1001). So I would like to make a vote so that everyone can share their experience about custom roms choosing. For me, After tried several roms I'm now back to OxygenOS since it's stable. Bluspark kernel gives me a smooth UX and fine performace in gaming. I got 27-29 fps playing Hearthstone on my phone.
Try them, read the forums and decide for yourself. Best rom threads aren't allowed on xda.

Yup. That's the best way. Just try em all. I don't even have a favorite. Some are better in different ways. Right now I am running Oxygen though. It's the only ROM supported by the Boeffla kernel right now
I means I just want to find a rom which has good battery and bug free for daily use.

Bro you can use boeffela kernel on h2os also I have flashed boeffela 7 for oneplus x OOS on h2os and it is running smoothly no lags at all and on benchmark it is giving a score of 68k to 69k by doing some customization by boeffela config app
I totally understand this poll.
Following OnePlus X development thread for some time now, it is quite difficult to choose one of the ROM.
For those saying that we need to try them ... I tried most of them and can't figure out why using one compare to the other ...
Most of them are CM based or include exactly the same feature.
I remembered using TeamEOS ROM and this, was completely different (in my point of view). Some extra goodies included but all from them, with some differences (gestures instead of navbar).
I don't want to be rude dev, but except AOSParadox, all are quite similar for "normal" users (not developpers I mean) and when using one, you tried all of them ...

The biggest thing for me, that there are no bugs. No wifi bug, no invalid number bug, build in superuser works, so no need for supersu etc.

I tried some custom ROMs but battery life is nothing like OxyOS..
I found screen on time 5.5-6 hr in oxy os & it's great...
So I am Desperately Seeking
Is there any Custom OS based on OxyOS/H2OS ?
yeah i would like a h2os lite version but not holding my breath for it. h2os with boeffla kernel flies. 71k antutu score.
also this vote will only show how many users r using their preferred rom. it will not show the best rom.

That's the very good news....
Custom H2OS may be better ..
Any way ???
So for me it's either ashwins cm13 or purity. But what all custom ROMs currently lack is encryption.
That is one thing (I know it is hard to implement) I really would like to see in the next builds as it is for me an essential feature when you are using a custom recovery and an unlocked bootloader. I hope there will be some focus on it within the next weeks.
The only option for now is: stay on stock

best MM custom rom for me?

I'm sorry if this is against the rules or anything.
I'm trying to decide on a custom rom and I'm having trouble.
In order of of most important I need one with:
1. Marshmallow
2. Stability/Snappiness
3. Customization (very interested in status bar customization)
Any advice would be greatly appreciate. Don't care if it's based off CM or not.
Oh and I have an E1005
i guess either "sultan CM" or "sultanized RR" (if u want more customization)

been using sultan's CM for months now, has been rock stable without bugs (and battery pretty good)
Maybe im the only one, but i find Sultan's rom to be way too conservative and performance suffers. On the other hand battery is probably one of the best

Honestly for stability and performance i would probably go to cm13. Im using AICP (cm13 based) and everything is working very well. There are some people saying they got force closes on apps probably due to using themes. For stability the best way is not using themes.
PAranoid android is probably the fastest rom i used on our device but it still has a few bugs and stability is not the best
Again, this is only my preference. Sultan's rom is really stable, but i dont quite like it because of what i said, i feel like its too battery orientated, neglecting performance a bit
all custom roms have GPS problems in device only mode. stick to H2OS it is the best ROM

Really? I completely disagree, for me is the most performative rom out there (aospa is faster and smoother, but with a lot of bugs still...).
Anyway, almost all roms are quite stable. If you want customizations and stability, go for Sultanized-RR or Dirty Unicorns.
DU is a great choice for customization. But these days after many months of flashing I'm back to my first ROM CM13. At first it was not so good for being developed. But now its rock solid. Customization there's many add ons you can look up. Snappiness stability the built in kernel is great and with kernel Aduitor could adjust accordingly.
Official CM13 is absoluely stable and works great with newest blu_sparks Kernel.
thanks everyone
decided to go with aicp for now. thanks for everyones help <3
Try h2os its the best, and bluspark it, its the deadliest combination of battery stablity and performance

Try Turbo ROM ( AOSP based with RRO) without any custom kernel. This is the right mixture of Customization and Stability as Dirty Unicorns (cmte) gives me trouble with xposed sometimes.

What's the most stable custom rom today? [November]

Sorry if this is not the place, and sorry for my eng too, but I have this doubt, I've seen differents cyanogens from China and the resurrection remix, I always had cyanogen on my Moto's I dont known the RR and I dont even know what is more stable today (I have a very bad internet and my 3s come this week, cant test any rom yet, but I want to download something stable to test when 3s arrived)
On another words... What rom are U using? And why?
PD: Sign please, https://www.change.org/p/publish-the-kernel-source-for-the-xiaomi-redmi-3s-prime-3x
With this we will have true roms based on the real code of the dispositive.
Thanks!
(Sorry my eng, again!)
I currently use Resurrection Remix 5.7.4 as of now.Its stable enough to be used as daily driver, only flaw is the vedio recording but it works fine when used via footej camera.Rest everything is great.RR is actually based on Cynogenmod only ,plus some more customisations and features like split screen multitasking etc.I also used CM13 for about a fortnight, its also pretty stable.YOu can use either of it!

Any noticeable lags, battery drain?
nope..i didnt notice any in the latest builds...the previous build of cm13 did drain battery a lil bit.and previous 5.7 RR lagged a little..but again the latest one is really good.it even has october security patch
I am currently on RR 5.7.0 as my daily driver for past week or two...it's quite stable...didn't bumped into any bug...waiting for kernel release so more custom ROMs can be made.
Please make sure you signed the petition on change.org, which request the xiaomi to release the kernel sources of R3S (If you want to see more custom ROMs).
Thank u very much for ur answers! I'll try the RR 5.7.4, when my 3s arrive, and yes, I've signed the petition when we were 240 aprox!! I'll put the link on top
PD: If someone want to share his experience with one of these roms or anothers are most welcome!

At the moment I can only recommend this https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/6-11-3.35941/ which is actually a customized, well debloated and fine tuned MIUI builds. Until devs can get their hands-on quality sources officially from upstream (from Xiaomi and that's not happening yet), there is no other substitute.

Miui has bugs and problems. Currently, I'd recommend custom ROMs to only those who have problems using Miui (like me). And ported ROMs are not that bad - only VoLTE support issue, video recording problem and a little less battery backup. Everything else is fine and smoother.

For me significant reasons to replace a rom would be stability, battery life and I don't like miui look. But if I don't gain anything in battery life I just freeze most xiaomi crap including mi account and battery life management, install my normal greenify-titanium and other apps and stay at miui either developer or stable from miui-hellas. Only thing I really miss is the ability to run custom app from keys. If cyanogen could improve their battery life I think I would easily switch...

Bro try the MIUI ROM. I've been using the ROM for the last 4-5 months now. You can GET IT FROM HERE. You can also SEE IT IN ACTION HERE.
It has stability, without any bugs, great battery life, great performance and what not. Though, not everyone is a fan on such highly customized ROMs, but personally I like it very much. You have the options to easily apply the various themes while MIUI in itself has pretty good UI.
Yoi don't actually need to flash a custom kernel with MIUI ROM, but if you wan, you can try Phantom Kernel.

Bro, Im having Redmi note 3 pro too. MIUI doesn't lag at all and has better battery life than compared to any other ROM despite the heavy customization.
On LA6k, I've tried many ROMs like CM13, Mokee, and other CM based roms, all of them had some kind of lag in the UI. Also, the battery life was not good, and were some bugs here and there. I've not tried the ED300's ver; but I don't think its much of an exception. So, you should definitely try MIUI at least once.

I installed Facebook, messenger, Instagram and other kind of things. still works likes charm, no lags at all.
Stock kernel is good. even if you want to squeeze more, then try phantom R7. It working good with it.
I should recommend MIUI Rom to everyone cause it's superb. everyone should try it at least once.

Best rom on this phone for STABILITY and SPEED?

Have been on true pure since day one... Great stability and speed. Can anyone recommend anything else though? Am looking for a reason to try something new.
As title says , all I really care about is stability and speed. Thx

If you're looking for a 7.1 ROM, try out dirty unicorns. They are not on XDA, but they have a Google+ page and a website with downloads for Clark. It is one of the most stable ROMS right know for this device. If you wanna stay on marshmallow I'm pretty sure Tru pure is still a great ROM, and you probably wouldn't wanna change.
I've gone back to stock with this device as every custom rom that I have tried has had some issue or another, making them unstable. The Brazilian stock nougat TWRP backup that is available on this forum is working surprisingly well on my device, an XT1572 being used in the UK.

How do work the gestures on DU? Just like on the stock? Worse/better?

None of the ROM'S do gestures as well as the stock gestures work, such as waving hand to wake the phone..etc..but they still work fairly well. Dirty unicorns also has the other moto gestures such as flip the phone to silence among others.
+1 for dirty unicorns. I'm running on their latest official release and its pretty good.
The latest build of stock 6.0.1 + Root + Xposed.
Stock... pure, untouched stock is the best for stability and speed, no doubt about it.
If you mean what CUSTOM rom is best, BrokenOS for MM or Dirty Unicorns for Nougat... Both are good, but neither one is as stable as stock.
Tesla.

After testing Tesla, DU, RR, crDrpid, and tipsy, I can say DU is best nougat ROM and like @acejavelin said BrokenOS is best Marshmallow ROM
I also agree that stock untouched is best way to go besides custom ROMs
i am using AISP rom and it is working well so far. Fast and smooth so far with huge amount of apps in background, also phone is not overhearting
no bootlops, no crashes etc
Ok, I guess I should probably flash a stock rom image then... Where can I find an official link?

Don't use the one directly from Moto/Lenovo, it is actually the original MM release from 2015

I'm using AICP (which I'm assuming you mean) too and I love it. I tried to go back to a stock based ROM and I hated it. It's very fast and has been extremely stable for me.

I'm thinking this post should be marked as solved by OP, as he has said he would flash a stock image. All the other custom ROMs mentioned are great choices too though!

OPwas looking for stability and speed, and DU and BrokenOS have been found to be most stable and smooth ROM's out there, if OP does not want stock. @Cowbell_Guy should mark this post as solved so far @acejavelin has hit the nail on the head for what the OP asked.
