S7 Always on Feature - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone,
is there any chance of a port of the always on display of the S7 for the N4? I tried most apps from the store, but they are either only a clock, invaded with adds or cumbersome to use (or all of that )
Any thing you can recommend?

[Q] Smart Switch from S3 to S4 - App Settings & Icons

So, I installed Samsung's Smart Switch app on my old S3 and my new S4, then held the two phones together. NFC was used to setup a wifi direct connection, and then Smart Switch transferred photos, videos, messages (txt/mms), and a few other things... but, Samsung seems to ignored two of the most painful parts of getting a new phone: app settings and icon placement.
Anyone who has had an Android phone for more than a few months likely has more than 100 apps installed, each has been configured (login, settings, saved games, etc) and icons have been moved to your desired location on the home screen. Getting a new Android phone means you have to manually do all of this again...
Did I have too high of hopes for Smart Switch or did I miss something during the transfer?
Are there any other options for this that do not require rooting the phone?

I doubt any app or method would allow you to copy/replicate your app placement.
For app data, Titanium Backup is the best but you require root for that.
If you don't wanna root, you could try this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup&hl=en
You will need a pc, but it can restore apps as well as app data across devices without root. A word of caution though, don't restore samsung apps/app data as it may clash with newer versions of the apps on the S4. Use it only for other third party apps you may have installed.
Awesome! I'll give Carbon a try.

[Q] Multi-User Support?

I just got my Nexus Player yesterday, and set it up, but could not find a way to add a second account. After doing some research, it looks like this is a feature that was left out for the moment.
Question is: Is anyone out there working on adding this feature (via ROM, app, however) or is there already a way to do it that I may have missed? Seems like it would be a key feature for a "living room" style device, unless Google expects everyone to live on their own or buy multiple devices and use multiple inputs just to switch accounts.

Switch from iOS to Android - a few questions

Hi,
I have already been using android and iOS phones. However, since 2014, I only used iPhones (iPhone 6 & iPhone 6S Plus). The 6S Plus is my daily driver and I also use iPads. My girlfriend also uses an iPhone.
Today, I bought a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
I have to admit, the screen really is gorgeous, way better than the iPhone 6S Plus screen.
However, there are some functions I miss right now (which maybe exist but I don't know).
On my iPhone, I am used to tell Siri to "remind me of XY in 30 minutes". Is there any equivalent of this on Android? Like to add a reminder with only voice input.
Using my iPhone, I also shared shopping lists with my girlfriend. Is there a way to do this cross-platform?
Last but not least, I miss the drag down iPhone "Finder", where you, on your homescreen, can enter anything you want and it quickly searches through your phone (apps, music, photos etc). Like for instance, instead of searching for an app by its icon, I just enter "shaz" and it immediately points me to the app (shazzam in this example).
Would be great if there are solutions for these questions.
Many thanks in advance!
Hi, welcome back to Android!
1. Google Now provides this functionality as does S Voice. I prefer Google Now, but S Voice can be activated even when the screen is off. GN's "OK Google" command can be setup for activation from any app (even locked) but the screen has to be on.
2. Not sure, but it would probably need to be an app which is available on both platforms.
3. I don't use the stock app launcher so I'm not sure if it is included, but you can set this up as an option on a custom app launcher (custom home screen) like Nova Launcher.

Google now launcher will be your best friend, shopping list u mean like sharing notes? U could use Google keep and have your girl download the same app. Google now also does #3

1-) Google Now will do that for you, an even better all around voice commander than SIRI.
2-) Try Our Groceries from the Play Store, there must be a lot other apps that do the same.
3-) Samsung S Finder will do the same for you, just edit your Quick Toggles and locate S Finder in the first row of Quick Toggles and you'll always have it handily available.
Thanks a lot guys, my problems are solved !

Some Questions and Problems about DM98 aka Lemfo LEM4

Hi Folks,
i bought a DM98 , also known as Lemfo LEM4. But some Problems seems to be unsolved:
In Germany the weather isn´t able to be located. Everytime i try to use it, it says "Locationing failed" . The Permisssions for Location is given and in Webbrowser the location is right.
Is there a way to get the internal weather working in Germany?
The "Fun Fit" App, wich is rceommended to work with a smartphone, is working so far. But i can´t get any Notification from the Smartphone (Samsung A5) on the DM98 Screen. The permissions are also given, and the Boxes in the fun fit App are checked.
Is there a way to get notifications from my Smartphone on the Screen of the DM98?
Has anyone made experiences with an external Launcher, like Apex launcher? Is ist worth it to be installed on the DM98?
Thank you so much for your help !

Launcher or anything for converting to a wall-mounted device?

Hello Community,
I've been looking for a way to convert an S8 so that I can use it specifically as a wall-mounted device.
It should be possible that I can simply tap certain apps that then start.
I would like to place these as nicely as possible on the home screen. Furthermore, other apps should be locked so you don't accidentally open them.
It would also be nice to have the device turn on the screen through the proximity sensor.
Is there a (simple) solution for this? A launcher, a kiosk app? If feasible, visually similar to "Andoid Auto"?
I can also root the device or install a custom rom. That should not be the issue.
Thanks a lot for answers!
