Xperia Z3+ Current Root Status for Noobs - Xperia Z4/Z3+ General

Hello All,
With all the chatters about rooting available for both Xperia z3+ dual and single sim, I thought it would be appropriate to start a thread where noobs may be able to get information regarding the root status of the phone.
Can someone please explain to me (and other noobs, if there are any,) what is the current status? I'm particular interested in the E6533 Dual Sim version with Build Number 32.1.A.1.185. since that is the model of my phone. If there is a tutorial I would be forever grateful if someone can be kind enough to link it here. Thank you all so much, this community is awesome!

I have that phon
I have that phon and I try all rooted kernels but mobile hangs and random reboot I return it to factory reset by flashboot and work some time good then make reboot it seems the developers don't work on dual sim phone sorry for my bad English

So essentially no root for the dual sim? :'(

That would be great if someone writes some "How-to..." Root and Backup and wth are those "different partitions", i think you should backup some of them before doing anything else. I am not a beginner with Android and Rooting and so on, but i come from HTC and this is my first Sony Phone and its really different. I know that there are severall Threads about this, but all the informations are split into a dozend threads and if you are a beginner with Sony its really hard to understand what is the "actually" best you can do.

Great topic, I would also like to know how to. Dont want to lose some goodies such as the excellent noise cancelation and the cameras many functions

Guys, that topic we have already had a number of times. Please use the search function and find (also for the Dual-SIM):

That is basically the problem. These "tutorials" are hidden in several threads and not visible to everybody. Of course you can use the search function and it's highly encouraged to do that. But at the same time we need somebody that has successfully rooted this phone to write a proper decently up-to-date "how to" thread so that everybody knows that they can find the necessary steps to root/backup/etc. their device successfully. Although, OP says noob friendly, I think it's also enough if anyone can follow the steps without hassle and getting lost quickly (understandable = decent English). I mean, I don't force anybody to do this, but it would be highly appreciated by many other users if somebody could take the time to create it.

Again, it does already exist but yes, a little bit of effort is required. Just follow...

Step 2:

Easy enough?

So step one doesnt work, it says device not working.
Would appreciate it too if someone could make an easier tutorial. but i guess the support for z3+ is just not there.

I have successfully rooted the phone with TA backup, recovery and root for a few weeks now and I have zero problems. I wrote a guide for tablet z4 in its general forum. The procedure is a bit different for z3+. If there is a need for it and I have time today I will do the same for this phone and post it in the general forum.
I posted a complete guide in the general forum.

[MINI GUIDE] Easiest Soft Brick Escape - For the Desperate User

Over the internet there are various guides teaching the lesson 'how to get out of a soft brick.' Some guides can be hard to follow and very hoarse leaving a noob feeling like he/she has destroyed their device. Fear Not.This is a comprehensive guide for less experienced users who happen to find themselves in a soft brick.
Dictionary - Soft brick - the phone can still boot, and be flashed easily but in its current state is unusable.
- Hard brick - the phone cannot boot and requires additional devices to do so (USB Jig, Riffbox).
This is the quickest escape route on the interweb and you will be done in no time. Here we go:
First Download Flashtool. Here (You may download any version from the previous versions tab.)
Install Flashtool.
Find the stock firmware for your device. For the x8
E15i android 2.1.1 http://www.multiupload.com/VKNI6Q6ET5 (2.1.1.C.0.0 latest firmware)
Dictionary - stock firmware - latest version of software released by the manufacturer
After downloading the firmware. Extract the file. You will be left with a firmware file with .ftf as the ending.
Go into 'my computer' then 'flashtool' folder then 'firmware'. Then copy the .ftf file into that folder.
Close the folder.
Now to make sure that your phone is recognized by flashtool, go into computer then flashtool then drivers.
Now Install the driver for the x8.
Connect your x8 to your computer.
open the Flashtool program.
Click the bolt icon in the top left.
Select the name of the firmware you downloaded (2.1.1.C.0.0) in the left panel. it will highlight blue.
Click ok (bottom right).
A box will appear telling you to put your device into flash mode. Follow the instructions it gives.
Once this is done the box will dissapear and firmware will flash.
Finally device will reboot and phone will be back to normal.
Congratulations you have unbricked your device.
I hope you found this useful. Please thank me using the button if you appreciate my efforts. #
This is my first guide. Tell me what you think. Anything I could improve.
Very good guide, cause didn't know yet about this..very thanks..

nice and quick guide, i guess that what a paniced newbie search for!
suggestion:i think you should add about the installation of drivers,as many users come here telling that their phones is not recognized by flashtool
also change the 4-noobs at the title, is kidda disturbing...put "for" instaid of 4
There is about 100 threads about that. Just color of text and size is diferent!
guuuuuuuyyyyyyyyyyysssssssssss, dont attack him because he want to help,if you dont like it,ignore it!

I know what you are talking about, but as long as there are so many who make a new thread for asking help for a brick,I prefer having similar threads with the same information that will help people rather than having stupid threads that are useless after all.....

Thankyou for everyone's support. I have changed the '4' to 'for' in the title as suggested by stamatis16.
also
As someone who studied psychology, I know that people learn in very different ways. A guide from someone else may not help a certain person. Different fonts evoke different responses and speeds of learning. Different colours do similar things too. So in response to the 'there are millions of guides' argument, I say . Everyone learns differently and this may help someone desperate more effectively than any other. I know that when I needed this help none of the guides were as simple as the one I have composed.
In addition to this, please remember, I am spending my personal time to aid others. So negative flaming saying that my posts are 'not really helping' is always a let-down.
Thankyou once again for the support.
Special thanks lyhengboy stamatis16 for comments.
Guys, think of it this way. Its better for someone to make a new thread which will prevent 2000 threads asking the same topic.
Hmm OP can we merge this topic with the existing one with Lucas? You can always PM him for ideas
For now I agree that it is somehow odd to create extra thread for the same purpose for noob knowing that there is already an existing one. Very nice purpose but we need to be organized as well hugs.

I can understand that but I have clearly highlighted in my post before this one why I made a new thread. Please read it if you have not.
Also I would like to have my own 'branding' if you like, of guides and reviews. I try to spice each one up differently to combat that argument.
Thankyou very much for being kind when posting. Sorry if I come across as rude, I do not mean to be this way.
Q:Hmm OP can we merge this topic with the existing one with Lucas? we need to be organized as well
A: I would be very sad if you were to delete or move or zap this thread for the reasons you mention above. I have spent great periods of time composing and tailor making this for certain users. As a RC I hope you can understand my reasoning.
Thankyou once again.
EDIT: I have changed the title to make it seem 'different'. I also want to mention my 'dictionary' feature. I think this is different and may help my argument.
I fully understand you. Thy will be done
Can someone with a soft bricked X8 let me know if its possible to boot into safe mode?
Hold menu when booting.
Thankyou. I was a bit scared when you said you wanted to remove this post and 'merge it with another.' Great to know you are so supportive.
Yes, please do not merge this. I have benefited allot from this post. Merging it I think will take out the time put into to this. Plus, other people may not see this. I am happy the op decided not to merge.

I have no power either of merging nor deleting threads that's moderators job, we can only ask them. Have fun helping people
Thanks, man
I don't have a soft or a hard brick. But I acknoledge you made a great guide and thank you anyway.
It was also useful because I am still considering if I should root my Galaxy Ace Duos GT-S6802 or not. And this made me realize that even if it bricks, it can be reverted. Do you have any idea if a hard brick is reversible? Also, in worst case scenario, can I simply download the software from samsung site and install it? Thanks. And sorry if I broke any rules here, I'm still a noob (still scared by the introdutory video haha)

[Q] New S5, best setup to remove bloat, root and sim free

hi guys,
just got today an S5 and quite happy with it so far.
I would like to do few things on it, hope you can suggest me the best way:
- get root (Lollipop 5.0, possibly keeping Knox unaltered)
- remove bloatware (especially my magazine)
- make it sim free, I belive is locked to the operator, got it on contract
can you please recommend what's best for doing those 3 things?
thanks a lot,
Gabrio
how about you read the forum, jesus christ it's right there in front of you.
hello Lingo, thanks for your reply
that is what i have been doing for the past 2-3 hours and because i know it's sometimes confusing, i was asking in advance. May i ask you to not swear with the name of our Lord? it's not pleasing to him and there's no need doing it. thank you

If you really had been looking for the last 2 hours, my dear sir, surely you would have noticed the stickied threads which answer all of your questions. One particular thread will even tell you that these kind of posts don't belong here in "General". Good day to you.
here's a few useful threads to get you started:
General advice: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2700073
How to root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696537
If you just want to remove bloat from your current rom, I'd recommend smart debloater: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/development/mod-smart-debloater-t2802034
But if you want a new/customisable rom check out Phoenix rom where you can pick and choose what you flash: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2741302
To make it sim-free, you'll need to get an unlock code either from your network or maybe off somewhere like ebay.
Hope that helps

thanks so much those are really helpful... if you could help me with one more thing which I found and is really off (again on this model)....I would love to edit the SMS_Candy.apk and disable SMS to MMS conversion after 480 chars or tricky it, I remember on my sgs2 I did a mod and basically increased that to "after 99 SMS convert to MMS" which did the trick nicely. I had a look at the files and it seems more complicated on Lollipop 5.0? do you know by chance? thanks a lot!
TBH, most custom roms will have that mod already included, I think phoenix rom has it

How to install windows on Yoga 2 10 - 1050F?

I can't speak well english. (sry)
I have lollipop rooted, unlock bootloader. 1050F
and OTG cable, PS/2 to USB cable (I can enter bios), usb 32GB
I searched. but, nowhere guide
Can I install windows on my Yoga table 2 10?
I regret that buying an Android version. I want windows 10..
and Can I come back to Android?
you cannot install windows on this model as it has an locked bootloader
you should not play with that stuff as when you use that way of accessing the bios you have no valid bootloader (as the ESP partition files are missing), and if for some reason the dnx protocol is screwed you will have no way of flashing anything and this means you will have an equivalent of a hardware bricked tablet (you will have to send it to Lenovo support)
the bios you are entering is useless as you cannot activate any option on it (you can only go Up/Down with volkeys on it) and the keyboard will not work as the driver for that is not activated (the keyboard works on this model only after a kernel is started)
ps. you do not have an unlocked bootloader, i thought we have already clarified that in the previous thread posts (rooted != unlocked)
ps2. why should one want a windows on a tablet beats me (is the same as having a linux only), attaching wings to a bicycle... how will you work with that? you will carry around a keyboard/mouse? for now android is, no matter of our love or hate for it, the best os choice for touch devices (phones/tablets), sure one can extend android with the linux arsenal of tools (or even have android running on linux , but that's another story)

I think - If I can flashing(It is not the rooted) == unlocked, I was wrong.(think) now, I think my bootloader is locked or unlocked (check no way..)
I did not fully understand. but, I was most understanding.
Come to think, Android is also good.
It has been very helpful.
now, I will install Linux (on Android)
@ionioni, its funny u say all and had a thread with a solution. That's makes no sense. U was searching for testers and I write u a PN, nothing came back. U see the Community want it and searches for this. I think u just want some attention.
So please don't answer something like this. I have time now and search now my own solution.

the fact that you cannot read and understand (right) i guess has nothing to do with it
the thread you mention is closed (at my request) and one could understood that i no longer need testers (but i guess not you)
(ever heard of things like "this beta period has expired"?)
edit:
also, your lack of logic in considering that if i didn't answered your email it automatically means that what i told regarding unlocking wasn't true is impressive. and yes i have seen the email and choose to ignore it due to the many "U"'s and alike/worthless, all in all not what i needed. as said, the "beta" is over since the day i asked the mod to close the thread (and your marvel PM was sent a week after), however, at this moment, considering the low interest shown in "beta" and the i****s (what could be there?) like you i will not make the result public, instead i will distribute that based on my personal/confirmed people (for now only @workdowg) selection. i did this in a moment when i needed it for my own personal use and the fact that i did a call for testers was only a proof for my generosity
now go read a book ... your post above is a complete mess, one can very hard follow what you say, except that you're pissed

First - seems to me @ionioni was very polite stating why Windows cannot be installed on the Android versions of these tablets (which was the question). And the OP also responded thankfully.
Secondly - A liar??? His search for beta testers was disappointing. He only got 2 real responses ( myself - 1050F and 1 other 830F) that were willing to do the work a BETA tester needs to do to get results. Maybe (you?) and a few other basically said ... gimme, gimme.
And not for nothing the one guy did some testing and disappeared off the face of the Earth. And me... Well I'm unlocked and running Android ON Linux now. So the testing was a "partial success" (probably could work on all yt2 devices though).
Thank you, irrelevant rant over.
I said at first I will test, u thanked that post. Look in ur profile. Even that I don't care when my Device bricks, I had a ISP switch so I needed some time.
You are the Person that posted around that someone will test it. I said yes.
I never see something legit about this Y2 Linux thing. Just posts. I'm sorry that I hurt feelings when I said liar, but nothing came back to Community, expect, I have it, and a closed thread. We are small number of Members on this device. So don't close ur self in a house and say, I have it and u don't. This is just not fair.
I post the last time now, I can test all stuff u want on the 1050L!

And BTW, I'm not pissed, but XDA is always the same s**** over and over. Look at Bump for G3.
When u and workdog have a nice time together, it's OK.
And for the sentence read a book, I prefer u "Knigge" on page stands that a answer on letter is always needed.
This means, if u just answered me, and said, OK I have already a tester, I don't need one, I never created that post #3.

ok, this is my last action on your garbage... here or elsewhere
1. i never thanked you for anything, check (it's simple, just go here and click on 'Most thanked' you should be able to do it and while at this maybe you understand why i would have not accepted you as a tester anyways)
2. i don't/didn't have to prove anything to you or anybody else, this was my work and i get to choose who will benefit, you didn't hurt but my time that's wasted in writing this answer
3. i don't need you to test anything, you came too late anyways, the "beta" was closed and even if it weren't i wouldn't do it with you ( it's not just a matter of installing an app or flashing a rom)
4. yeah, workdowg is a cool guy and way way above the average "gimme gimme" user (i have worked well with him during the trials, although i have screwed/bricked things up at some point, but luckily he's a patient person) as most of the users in the threads know already
5. i don't have to answer your (expired) pm's more than i have to answer the spam in my email
6. you were the one who started ranting in this thread on a completely off-topic subject about something that nobody asked/cared about i.e. how frustrated you are about this and that (btw the post is #4)
have a nice life
U are a little bit offense my friend.
Last post to this story, a answere that the thread was closed, because!!! U have enough testers, will be a other thing as just closing it.
The resoan why don't want me as tester, Is nothing about i care! I have 3000 post on a German forum, have a knowledge over Android, I can made own stuff etc. So please stop too call me between the sentences as a stupid User that just want the stuff. I
And in not that type of user as u call me, I donate a coffee or beer for good stuff on XDA like Bump.

Yes.
Okay. bootloader can be unlocked, Bios can be activated and menues can be choosen. Is that right? Im not familiar with the tablets bios/uefi but couldn't there be any chance to boot any windows version (internal/external)? Maybe , now that it apears that other linux versions can be installed, is it possible to install even something like a grub bootloader and then manage to boot to windows? Perhaps this is a bit to naiv to say but there seems to be a small chance.
Just picked up a 1050f cheap ($50AU) and my first 'how to get Windows installed' lead to this. Is it even possible?
I just found this thread, becuase I got an Lenovo Tablet 2 as a present from my sister.
After searching around, I found the bootloader-unlock by surdu_petru.
Also I found out that you can change settings in the bios with the lollipop-system.
So shouldn't we now be able to install Windows/Linux on this tablet.
Shouldn't we now be able to flash a dd-image from any Lenovo Tab 2 Windows, and boot it ?

Thank you for your post, @neverapple88
I know about A.O.L .. and there is no installer downoadable anymore. I think it's a great idear and shows how powerful and versatile our device is.
I think that you could use aol to repartition or device and boot windows with it, but the rist in bricking the device is very very high.
It's really a shame, that lenovo did not include the usb-drivers into the bios, because now you should only be able to boot things on the internal storage.
Also the Bios has a file manager, but cant show any files :/
btw. the DEV-Thread only talks about using ubuntu to compile the cyanogenmod rom
You just sound like a teenage douchebag and not even the Wheetus kind. You're just a bit of a [email protected] really aren't you.

Trollerator.

We need a proper root, unlock/relock flash guide.

I see plenty of people asking for rooting help etc. I think we need a proper guide on how to backup TA partitions on M & N. How to restore. How to flash recovery and kernels and in which order. Which tools do you need and where do you get them and when everything is set and done, how to flash a rom.
A step-by-step guide.
I see answers like "just unlock and do this and that" which isn't answering peoples questions. And the result is just people asking "and how do i do that?" and the loop of replies with no content continues. I'd be more than happy to help, but havn't had the device for long, nor have i done anything to it yet. So i'm hardly the right person to do so, yet.
Why are you speaking for these 'plenty of people'? I don't see anyone asking, it's only you because you don't put effort into looking up and reading and you want everything to be served in your plate. Everything is very well written if you TRY to search for it.

Not true! For example, you can see 3 posts in a row asking for help (including mine) and noone answers. There ARE plenty of people who need help. And noone is helping. This is a useful post.

nobody is helping because there is plenty of information available on the xda forum. You'll just need to search read and learn.

If you read the question I posted, I said that for some people the information is not very clear and there are some things that haven't been specified. Especially for the xperia X, why are there so little threads and mods for it? Because it's new? Do you think there will be more mods and stuff in the future?

You should TRY and read the OP again, you clearly didn't get it.
And why i'm speaking for "those" people. Because no one else is. The difference is that i don't have any difficulties doing so, it doesn't bother me. You could've spend your time more productive coming up with suggestions to a possible solution, eliminating those "i need help rooting/flashing/blabla" threads. Whereas you choose the easy way and just be a prick about it.
you choose the easy way
I don't understand what's so wrong with helping some people out..

Here you can find unofficial twrp for xperia x:
http://www.infectedbuilds.net/downloads/suzu/twrp/
Install with fastboot command:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
After flashing this twrp you probably cant access data partion in twrp, to fix this boot into twrp, do a factory whipe and format data partition.
If you want to root flash latest SuperSU: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/stable-2016-09-01supersu-v2-78-release-t3452703
If you want a modded kernel with DM-verity, RIC off, DRM fix, SuperSU & Busybox download this tool and follow instructions: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xp...oot-automatic-repack-stock-kernel-dm-t3301605

Thanks a lot!
In the future I will buy this phone but now without it I am unable to do some tutorial. I wish I had this phone right now because this phone is awesome and some days ago I destroyed my M4 Aqua. I am into unlocking bootloader, backing up and restoring DRM keys, flashing recovery and making working SuperSU. I did tutorial for M4 Aqua on my Czech forum but I wish I could it here on XDA.

okay, so I can spend some time to write a noob friendly guide on saturday including information about things that troubled me too
=)) finally, I will give you a guild for step by step:
A. backup and restore:
1. fall backup to MM with flashtools (find script for your device)
2. https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/universal-dirtycow-based-ta-backup-t3514236
3. read inside topic to find restore code.
B. unlock:
1. go to this site https://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/ to get unlock code
2. turn on develop option (gg please) turn on oem unlock in this
3. follow sony intruction.
C Relock
relock ( use restore code in A) after that use flashtools to flash any firmware you want (like fall back MM)
ps: it is just a summary because you can fix any problem with gg in some other android devices.
ps2: dont use only one device forum to find your answer, try to find it from others. Because sony devices have same problem when flash OS )) or backup DRM and most them was answered so no one wanna write again again about same problem.
ps3: find to learn ^^.

Why didn't you include TWRP? Anyway at least you are the first one to write something, but most questions were answered in the poison thread

I have no idea. You wrote that you didn't find a guid, so I gave you one. Look for videos on youtube.
I am generally not a rooting enthusiast.
