Steps to install other variant ROMs (Including Galaxy S7 Port ROMs) on N910P - Sprint Galaxy Note 4 General

Guys, I'm making this thread for those people who are using Sprint's Note 4 (N910P) outside of US and are stuck with Sprint's ROM (or the ROMs that are based on it) and have certain issues in using the ROM.
For instance, I'm using the unlocked variant of N910P with a GSM carrier, so I was having problem in connecting to the Hot-Spot feature as all of my devices were stuck at "Obtaining IP Address" loop and eventually would never connect.
I did try various "hacks" present here on XDA for enabling Hot-Spot feature like using Galaxy Tools, using SQLite Editor, etc but wasn't able to overcome the problem.
Since, XDA is a great platform for sharing solutions to various problems, I decided to create a thread especially for those who don't want Sprint's bloatware but want to stick with "Stock ROM features" like S Pen.
Hence, here's the step-by-step guide for installing other carrier's ROM on N910P:
Before attempting all this, make sure to be on OK1 Bootloader & Baseband (Do not try this on Marshmallow Bootloaders) for N910P.
Step 1:
Install TWRP recovery version 3.0.1 (Yes, you read it right..it's 3.0.1 & not 3.0.2)
Once you have downloaded, flash it through ODIN (the TAR file) or through existing TWRP (using ISO image).
Step 2:
Make a backup of your current ROM so that you can revert to it in case of unsuccessful flash.
Step 3:
Go to Wipe (in TWRP)-----> Factory reset (do this 3 times.....yes, 3 times!)
Then, go to Advanced Wipe & wipe Dalvik/ART cache,Cache,Data,Internal Storage, System (Do not wipe external SD Card).
Hit the back button to come out of the "wipe window"
Step 4:
Click on "Install" and choose the files in following order:
a) Dr Ketan's ROM
b) Data Fix for the ROM
c) Kernel
d) SuperSU (I used beta 2.71)
Once the flashing process is finished, reboot the system and wait for the phone to boot.
It will take a long time (around 10-15 minutes) to boot.
Once you are on setup wizard screen, choose to apply "Dr Ketan's fix" and then you can proceed like you do in any other ROM.

Note: I am in no way to be credited for all this as the links provided above are a result of hard work from the respective developers. I have just compiled all the links into one thread so that it can help anyone like me to switch to other ROM.
Also, neither I nor any of the above mentioned developers/members are responsible for any fault that may arise due to improper flash or other reasons..
Do all of it at your own risk!
Last but not the least, I would like to thank @ricohz for helping me out when I was stuck in some steps..
(In the screen-shot attached, the model number is 920T for obvious reasons...so don't ask why it's not 910P..)
Do note that the APNs have to be edited manually, else the data connectivity would not be there!
(This thread should benefit the non-Sprint users........)
Update:
There are some more ROMs that can be flashed successfully on N910P such as:
1. Maximum Overdrive

2. Nameless ROM

Kindly say Thanks to the developers on their respective threads for all their hard work.

OK1 bootloader has been suggested so as to avoid any incompatibility issues for the ROM!

Tinkering and flashing custom ROMs on Android is not always a piece of cake...
Loads of patience is required and if the process is not carried out as stated/expected, time is bound to get wasted.
Anyway, here's what you need to do (Or at-least, expected to do..):
1. Take a backup of the current ROM.
2. Do Factory reset 3 times ( First time, do it again & do it yet again..making it three times)
3. Wipe everything(except External SD Card) again 3 times as above.
4. Flash the ROM.
5.Once ROM is flashed, do not reboot & flash the Data Fix.
6.Again, do not reboot and flash the Vitamin Kernel (originally meant for F variant).
7. Do not reboot yet again & flash the SuperSU (I FLASHED 2.71).
Now, reboot and wait for the setup screen to appear. It will take quite a long time to appear and the phgone will be stuck on Samsung logo for quite a while.
Now, if you have patience, wait for the process to finish, and if not, you know what to do..

I don't think that you can directly flash the stock ROM of "F variant" directly. Doing so might result in a bricked device.
My advise to you will be to carry out the procedure as stated in this thread.
The ROM provided in this thread is 99% stock so you will not face any compatibility issues.

got echoe data fix MO here I come fallow by Dr ketans data fix should apply to all roms with minor tweaks

Flashing tutorial for dummies [ICS SGS TEAM ROM]

FLASHING TUTORIAL FOR DUMMIES<ICS SGS TEAM ROM>NOTE : NOT ALL THESE STEPS ARE A MUST OR NEEDED TO BE DONE IN THIS PARTICULAR WAY, BUT IT IS BEST TO DO SO IN ORDER TO AVOID FURTHER PROBLEMS AND MAKE SURE THE FLASHING PROCESS IS AS CLEAN AS POSSIBLE.
>EVERYTHING WILL BE WIPED<
PAY ATTENTION AND TAKE YOUR TIME !
I DO NOT ANSWER TO QUESTIONS WHICH HAVE ALREADY BEEN ANSWERED IN THIS TUTORIAL OR IN THE LINKS THIS TUTORIAL PROVIDES !
THIS IS WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO STEP BY STEP :
It doesn`t matter on what rom you are, first you need to download a stock gingerbread rom, a kernel which has root and clockworkmod recovery and of course a flashing program (in this case Odin, simply because it does the job), also Samsung USB Drivers :
NOTE : It would be best to have your phone fully charged before flashing
1. First install the drivers ONLY if you haven`t already installed them, also if you have Kies installed there is no need to install these drivers, but you are better off installing these anyway : http://dev-host.org/ZRA
2. Download this package (it includes i9000 stock rom+kernel+odin) : http://dev-host.org/RAE, if you have a Captivate or a Vibrant just download a stock rom for your phone model and find a kernel which has root and cwm in it.
NOTE : The next step will require using the 3 key combo for accessing the clockworkmod recovery and also the download mode. The 3 key combo used below is for the Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000. If you own a Captivate or a Vibrant please click this link and choose your phone model to see what 3 key combo must be used, as it differs from one phone model to another : http://tinyurl.com/6q6ajpx
3. After you have extracted all the contents you downloaded and installed drivers, put your phone into download mode using the 3 key combo : volume DOWN + home button+power button, keep those pressed until it goes into download mode.
4. Connect phone to PC via USB Cable and open Odin (windows should detect the phone and install some drivers, after it`s finished you should see the message "Added!" in Odin which means Odin succesfully detected your phone so now you are ready to flash)>check Re-Partition Option>press PIT button and browse for the s1_odin_20100512.pit file, press BOOTLOADER button and browse for the APBOOT… file, press PDA button and browse for the CODE….file, press PHONE button and browse for the MODEM….file, press CSC button and browse for the GT-I9000-CSC….file. PRESS START button and wait for the green pass notification in Odin.
• When the phone reboots into the rom, wait for the setup wizard to appear and then just use the 3 key combo into the download mode again.
Close Odin and open it again> press PDA button and browse for CF-Root…file> Press START button and wait for the green pass notification in Odin.
• When the phone reboots into the rom set your phone to mass storage mode from settings>wireless & network>usb settings, copy the ICS SGS rom needed for your phone model, to your INTERNAL SD root location (G: for example, copy the rom here) via USB Cable from here : http://tinyurl.com/7f4m8bp.
• Now we have to go to clockworkmod recovery using the 3 key combo : volume UP + home button + power button, keep those pressed until it goes into the clockworkmod recovery.
• Using the volume buttons to navigate up and down select Wipe Data/Factory Reset by pressing the home button, a submenu will appear, hit YES. Wait for it to finish and then Wipe Cache the same way you did with Wipe Data/Factory Reset> Go to advanced menu>a submenu will appear and Wipe Dalvik Cache.Go back to main menu.
Now it`s time to flash the ICS SGS ROM :
Select install zip from sd card > choose zip from sd card> browse for the rom zip>choose YES and let it do the magic. If it happens to reboot immediately into clockworkmod recovery with a different look (blue writing), it means it actually flashed just the ICS Kernel first therefore you have to flash again so the ICS ROM gets installed too, just follow the steps above.
NOTE : Sometimes it works from the first try and sometimes it reboots into clockworkmod recovery instead of flashing the rom because it changes KERNEL first, prior to flashing the rom.
If it boot loops or you are experiencing other issues read here : http://tinyurl.com/78ajjhc
Now all you need to do is wait for it to finish. After the flashing is done> Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache as you already know how to do it and choose Reboot System Now. Give it some time to boot, it usually takes at most 5 minutes to boot. If it doesn`t boot, just reflash the rom as described in the steps above.
NOTE (i9000 users) : At this point if it still doesn`t boot past the Galaxy S Logo after you`ve reflashed the rom, flash Semaphore ICS Kernel via CWM and then just Wipe Cache/Dalvik Cache and Reboot to System. Can`t acces CWM anymore? You have to start all over again from step 4.Only this time flash Semaphore ICS Kernel right after the ICS Rom finishes flashing, Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Wipe Cache/Dalvik Cache and Reboot to System.
NOTE (Captivate/Vibrant users) : The same applies to you if you encounter the upper issues, only instead of Semaphore Kernel, use Nushor`s kernel.
Semaphore ICS Kernel : http://goo.gl/qWlOJ
Nushor`s Kernel : http://db.tt/CMC5BJ0f
If you don`t have network signal it usually means it`s a modem related problem so just copy to your internal sd card one of these modem zips : http://dev-host.org/SSR and flash it the same way you flashed the ICS SGS rom via clockworkmod recovery (without the Wipe Data/Factory Reset which is needed only when flashing ROMs). It should solve the problem.
NOTE : Also if you are experiencing heavy battery drain with or without 3G ON (internet included),
you should try a different modem from here : http://tinyurl.com/68reom6.
Just flash one using the clockworkmod recovery.
Also you can find some modems here : http://goo.gl/R9q5l
Depending on the region you are in, modems can make a huge difference!
But usually 3G/Internet usage will discharge battery faster then Wi-Fi usage.
THERE IS NO "BEST MODEM" > you have to experiment yourself with these modems!
If it still doesn`t solve the problem search for possible fixes in the ICS SGS Thread : http://tinyurl.com/7kb46ox.
If you haven`t found any fix after you have SEARCHED THOROUGHLY or if you have any other issues come here : http://webchat.freenode.net/ ,
Channel : ##icssgs.
People there will help you figure it out.
IMPORTANT : Yes, 4.2 ROM is a bit laggy because of the kernel and the launcher, so all you need to do is to flash Semaphore ICS Kernel (the i9000 users), flash Nushor`s Kernel (the Captivate and Vibrant users) and install Nova Launcher from Market and it`s all good in the hood
Semaphore ICS Kernel : http://goo.gl/qWlOJ
Nushor`s Kernel : http://db.tt/CMC5BJ0f
NOTE (i9000 users) : After you`ve flashed the kernel, you will notice the Semaphore App in the App Drawer, open it and set it like this : Governor > smartassv2 | Scheduler : noop. Reboot and you`re done!
NOTE (Captivate/Vibrant users) : After you`ve flashed Nushor`s Kernel, install NSTools from Market, open it and set it like this : Governor > smartassv2 | Scheduler : fiops.Reboot and you`re done!
IMPORTANT : You may experience severe battery drain every time you will reboot your phone. 100% of the CPU will be used constantly even if you hardly use the phone and thus the battery will be quickly discharged. To solve this, just open NSTools and change the governor to something else and then change it back. The CPU will come back to its normal state. It seems it is a NSTools issue, though i`m not sure this is a general problem.
IMPORTANT (Semaphore Kernel users) : If you want to use tethering, make sure you enable "netfilter" in the Semaphore App!
NOTE : If you find something doesn`t work for you after you`ve flashed the rom, basic things such as camera for example, it means you have to flash the rom again!
Auto Brightness doesn`t work yet, in the meanwhile use the app Custom Auto Brightness from here : http://tinyurl.com/7fsreu3.
Or you can buy this brilliant app : http://goo.gl/g0y9i
If you find your screen has a blue, red or yellow tint over it, install Voodoo Sound : http://goo.gl/DXzw8 and tap the button "reset to 2.3.3 defaults".It should fix the issue.
NOTE (Semaphore Kernel users) : Fortunately auto brightness works well with this kernel, thank stratosk for the auto brightness driver!

Awesome tutorial...Thanks
I've just armed my SGS from Gingerbread 2.3.5 to ICS using this thread. Clear step-by-step guidance.
My phone now is ready for second live
Thank you @psyqiq
Great write up. It will help me out a lot. Only thing I can think of that might also help us noobs out is an explanation of how and what we might want to backup before doing the flash. This would make this thread the ultimate flashing guide for dummies.
I've flashed another rom previously but lost a lot of stuff I would like to have kept like sms's, photos, emails and settings (wifi passwords & settings, ect). I still don't no how to keep my emails and settings but XDA has helped figure out the other stuff.
A couple of questions also, does the sim card and/or sd card need to be removed to do this flash? This is something I've read in other guides.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
SuperRoo it is not needed to remove the sim card and neither the external_sd, it would have been mentioned in the tut. As for the backups it`s impossible to backup everything from settings to apps etc...and restore them into ICS in such a way that everything would work. Restoring stuff from GB to ICS brings incompatibilities unfortunately so it is best to redo all those settings you had on the GB Rom rather than restoring them from a backup.
verry good tutorial. tnx

We recently had a guy report in the mintberry thread that flashing miui fried his sd - not sure if he odined stock before cwm flash.
It's not a precaution that I have ever taken, though it is considered safe flashing procedure to remove sd and sim (I have never heard of any adverse effects to a sim card).
Great tutorial thanks.
One question before i install this, how do i know/find which modem is best suited or specific to our region and service provider (NSW - OPTUS). (I post the same question over here but i think this thread is more appropriate)
My wife had issues on a previous flash i did 2.3.4 whereby she had no internet and could not sent SMS/MMS until a friend provided me with a different modem (i think it was the modem) and it fixed the problem.
Obviously not an expert in this area but i can follow a decent tutorial
Cheers.
woolf clubs it is almost impossible to fry the sd card just by flashing something. This is ackward.Only an overload of electricity through the USB ports would cause that, if it`s possible.I don`t see any other logical way for such a thing to happen when it comes to frying hardware, in which case it is very unfortunate.
BenzOzzy here is some info about some modems and regions : http://tinyurl.com/3yh3e3m, although even if you flash a modem that is not ment for your region, it does not necessarily mean it will perform worse. Nobody can tell you what modem is best for a specific region, only if someone had some good feedback with it, therefore you have to search the xda (in your case) for users that had a good feedback with a specific modem in australia. Though the JVT modem should do just fine.
Ok, thanks psyqiq.
---------- Post added at 02:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:30 PM ----------
Actually i apologize, i believe i should have been asking you about which is the best CSC file not the modem.
Wouldn't the CSC be specific to my provider, with apk and their apps? (all the bloatware my wife seems to like)
I seem to recall with OPTUS its 'OPS' something or other... (GT-I9000-CSC-XXX OPS) or (CSC_I9000------.tar.md5) or something like.
Sorry if i've hijacked your thread here, i am gonna update her phone tonight if all goes well and want it to go well
Thanks.
BenzOzzy forget about CSC in ICS.There is no ICS firmware for i9000 and therefore no CSC either. We can only flash cm modems and some kernels like glitch, devil or semaphore. That's it.After all, this is just a port rom.Happy flashing!
Actually Ics roms are MULTI-CSC and doestnt need additional CSC files ..just flash ...nd enjoy!
try JVU

Hey BenzOzzy,
ICSSGS uses the JVU Modem which seems to work for most of the people, i changed modems in the past release reading that it would also affect battery life.
in ICSSGS RC4.2 i kept the JVU modem, gives me performance as usual and battery life is good as well (btw. using semaphore 0.8.1 kernel )
Ahh, i've run into a problem at this point, when it all was going accordingly

Actually i noticed a problem when i tried to add ICS_4.0.3_MR1-RC4.2_I9000 to my sd card. I could not see the sd card on the list so i dumped it into the root directory, disconnected the usb cable then browsed the phone where i can see the sd card directory and manually moved ICS_4.0.3_MR1-RC4.2_I9000 into it that way.
Problem is, when i go to install zip from sd card > choose zip from sd card > i cant find the rom zip...but i can see that ICS_4.0.3_MR1-RC4.2_I9000 is in the sd card.....wtf?
I hope that my stupidity makes sense.
Any ideas that can help. ?
BenzOzzy actually you do not have to see a folder named "sd card" while in clockworkmod recovery, therefore when you copy the rom prior to flashing you copy it on the internal sd root. Just set your phone to mass storage, connect the phone to PC and it will detect 2 sd cards, one internal and one external (if you have one).Just double-click the internal one from my computer and you`re there on the root location (G: for example, copy the rom here). That`s it.Now just go to cwm and flash it.

This is a rom that someone made based off Shohat's ROM, it includes Google Play Store:

You don't have to use the Baidu downloader, just press the GREY button BOTH times. =D
As far as how to flash, it's just like any other ROM. FYI, Shohat said he is working on making his version support the 6V so keep an eye out.

It is still working.
The first dialogue box, with a space to enter text, is for the password, though if you enter it once you won't have to subsequent times you visit the page.
If you're not in China, Baidu loads super slow. If it's too slow to download the 1GB file then you'll just have to wait for Shohat's rom next week. Should be better anyways. =D

Using this ROM should decrease the differences between the Chinese version and the "western" one, am I right?

Your question makes me think you might want to read a bit on what ROM is (don't worry, I don't reallly know either, but we can always learn more), but ultimately yes, this ROM contains some of the Google services not included in the China Unicom version.
Please be careful and understand that this a temporary fix, this ROM is a bit buggy. Keep an eye out for other XDA roms that will work for 9006V models. You will certainly want to flash something new later.
Nice job of putting it all together in one shot. Still haven't quite done it on my phone, but will be doing it soon. Maybe I'll wait for a ROM until the one you mention by Shohat comes along. Really would like if we could get some english developer love too. I know there are things available in chinese, those alone should have like 90% of the work done for those wanting to do a version for english.

I used this post:
http://bbs.gfan.com/android-7340315-1-1.html
BUT:
I think that the only thing that really helped me was having the drivers, which I got through the long way, by installing 豌豆荚 on my computer and it automatically installed drivers. Windows couldn't find them. I've seen the drivers on that forum listed above, so if you don't want to install that app (it is kinda annoying, but helps sideload APKs).
One other thing to note:
I also got really thrown off by one part of the above instructions, to enter CWM after you flash it with Odin you need to press Vol+ + Home + Power, not volume down.

Ok.... for english speakers....
Once you are in CWM recovery after yanking the battery last second and loading recovery on the next boot cycle (or you have to do it all again)... You will be presented with options... crazy options... select the first one, then select the second option (it says some english about install-recovery.sh). This will disable the recovery script that keeps writing samsung's recovery over your fresh CWM. Then I chose the 2nd option again after that, thinking it meant something about rooting the phone. Not sure, but the phone rebooted and everything was fine. CWM still intact.
After that, I installed supersu as linked on the chinese website shown previously. you can see english for ZIP and from there see ext.storage or internal, just point to were you downloaded it and click through to install.
I downloaded a copy of gapps for 4.4.2 and did the same thing as I did for supersu and BAM.... now I have google play and it's working.... Finally the phone i was wanting it to be, at least until a fully english rom becomes available.

I must be missing something here. I finally downloaded this file from the second link, which is called 'Samsung_S5_G9006V.zip'.
I ran Odin v.3.09 to flash this ROM (just like any other ROM), and obviously it doesn't recognise this file, as it's a zip file. So I extracted it to a folder. However, all I get is a lot of folders such as 'data', 'META-INF', 'system', 'tmp', 'tools' and two files 'check_data_app' and 'romconfig.xml'.
Odin also doesn't recognise this, as it's looking for .tar or .md5 or .smd or .gz or .tgz file extensions.
I've tried renaming the original zip file to .tar.md5 but this doesn't work either.
Could you please explain further, or even step-by-step exactly how you are supposed to flash this ROM? What software do I actually need to flash it?

ROMs are .zip and installed via Recovery. You can use ODIN to put recovery on your phone. Clockwork Recovery Mod (CWM), TWRP are both recoveries.
Once recovery is on your phone you can enter it using the volume+ / power / home keys.
If you're still unclear on this process just look at any of the roms in the dev sections, they all include a short how to for installing a rom from recovery.
Thanks ddxv, and sorry for being stupid - all my previous phones I simply flashed from within Windows using ODIN.
So step-by-step guide should be as below?
1. Download Clockwork Recovery Mod (CWM)
2. Download ODIN 3.09
3. Download 'Samsung_S5_G9006V.zip' from your second link
4. Copy 'Samsung_S5_G9006V.zip' to a MicroSD card and place into phone.
5. Reboot phone into Download Mode
6. Start ODIN
7. Click on 'AP' (was 'PDA') and find CWM recovery file
8. click Start
9. Once finished, the 'Pass' message will be displayed.
10. Reboot into recovery mode
11. Choose Wipe Data/factory rest
12. Select install zip from SD card
13. Flash phone
14. Reboot

My VyprVPNs connect but there isn't really any data sent afterwards. My StrongVPN account works occasionally. Neither are as good as on the computer. Make sure you're using PPTP, StrongVPN recommends unchecking the encryption as it's 'buggy' or something.
Also, Liantong/China Unicom in Beijing seems to constantly change connections, which naturally disconnects the VPN.

Yeah, the original rom this is based on was an older / original version of Shohat's rom.
There are now dozens of roms on the chinese sites, no doubt a fairshare are from xda, but probably less buggy than the one you chose

[RESOLVED] [Q] SM-G900W8 Stuck at boot screen after editing build.prop

Okay, I've searched the forum for several hours but there's just too much here to make sense of.
My phone is a SM-G900W8 brought home June 19 this year.
Stock Lollipop 5.0 pre-installed.
Code:
Baseband version: G900W8VLU1BOC1
Kernel version: 3.4.0-4100894
Build number: LRX21T.G900W8VLU1BOC1
SE for Android status: Enforcing, SEPF_SM-G900W8_5.0_0002
KNOX version: 2.3
Rooted using CF-Auto-Root (this file), Custom recovery is Philz Touch 6.57.8 klte.
Both of these were in place early on and haven't caused any problems.
Everything was working perfectly fine until last night, when I tried this trick (in first post), rebooted, and now I'm stuck at the splash screen.
Nothing gets me out except a battery pull.
I've tried:
Button combo volup - home - power to go to recovery; this does nothing from the splash screen (actually even pressing and holding down power does nothing), and after a battery pull it won't boot into recovery either.
Booting into download mode (success! yay!) and using Odin to re-flash Philz recovery. Reboot doesn't go into recovery, as stated above.
Just waiting, at various points in the process (while in splash screen, while turned off) to give a chance for things to happen if they just needed time.
So now I'm able to get into download mode and use Odin but from there I don't know what to do next. Flash the bootloader? Okay, but there are so many links...which one do I use? Of all the specs I've gathered, why didn't I find that out?
Can somebody help me please?
[EDIT: Solution and links, for SM-G900W8 users who might be looking for help]
I finally managed to boot into recovery by leaving the USB cable connected to the computer while pressing volup+home+power, a last-ditch trick found in deanr1977's very helpful thread "Read before flashing a Rom (Tips for new & old)"

factory reset. Then flash stock rom. if you cant boot into recovery try the latest twrp. It works if its still not working then flash stock firmware from SAMMOBILE with odin. it will work then
Thanks for the reply. The problem I'm having is knowing where to download the files I need to flash - because there are so many threads here for so many different models of this phone. Believe me, I've looked, and keep turning up everything BUT W8
I'm tired and frustrated and need my phone functional - can you point me to a post or a thread with the latest version of TWRP that I can flash with Odin?
[edit] Sorry about that - I found the thread. I'll give that a shot and see what happens.

Latest twrp from https://twrp.me/
Philz recovery from https://mega.co.nz/#!oVNz0T6C!VII47M...MpQIN2b-PEUYN8
Best Stock firmware 5.0 BTU from http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/44413/G900FXXU1BOC7_G900FOXA1BOC7_BTU/
Enter download mode and Flash either one of the recoveries and Clear dalvik cache, clear cache, format system, format data and then factory reset. After that boot into odin mode directly and flash the Stock Firmware.
note: in Odin uncheck "auto reebot option" and after flashing recovery when the odin shows its done wait 1 minute disconnect usb and pull out battery then turn it on if your phone says "Recovery is seandroid enforcing" wait for 3-4 seconds it will go away and recovery will boot up.

Now, I just want to check: this is for the G900F; will it make a huge difference to my phone? Can I restore my data directly from the backup? I thought what I needed is the exact stock rom that was installed on this phone when I got it so I've been looking everywhere for the G900W8 firmware. I do intend to play with tweaked ROMs in future, but today's not that day.
Finally managed to boot into recovery after flashing TWRP - read a tip somewhere about doing the keypresses while connected to PC via USB. Currently running a nandroid backup before moving on to all the wiping/formatting steps - at least then if something else goes wrong I've got the latest data. :victory:

i am sorry the tools i mentioned are for 900f model. Here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G900W8/ you can find firmware for G900W8. Just factory reset format dalvik cache, cache , data and system and flash your stock firmware in recovery. There are many different firmwares available with the exact bootloader and modem but they are carrier specific. I don't know which carrier you are on (if any) so just go through the list and download the firmware you were on, flash it. I will highly recommend you to backup your EFS and modem folder aswell just incase anything goes wrong and u flash the wrong firmware.
Oh! Oh! I found it! The stock ROM, as well as the kernel and the modem! So, next question - should I flash all three or just the ROM?
(God I feel like an amateur right now...Thanks so much for helping me out here dork997. :highfive: )

no prb, Okay if you download the rom from sammobile it should be in a .zip format extract it once and it will give you a .tar.md5 file which you have to flash in odin (this file has bootloader+firmware+modem) if you have 7zip or other such programs it will give you option to re-extract the .tar.md5 file but you dont need to do that just extract the downloaded zip once. and flash it in odin (make sure you factory reset and do the formating steps before flashing it....flashing rom over an old rom has caused some issues for me in the past so i always factory reset before but people also flash without factory reset or formating, choice is urs.
And I believe you've just answered my question. I'll hold off on flashing kernel and modem but I did back up everything, just in case. Wiping/formatting now; crossing fingers that things will go fine from here.
(My carrier is in my userinfo under my name, btw. )
Edit 'cause we keep posting at the same time: Hells yeah, I know how to flash, I've done it tons of times, just never run into this problem or had a device with so many variants so I'm just not used to asking so many questions, is all. I sincerely appreciate you guiding me through, and hope this will help others with this device in the future.

cheers, if it does help you just try to give it back to the community.....i ve had similar issues and people here on xda helped me out. So i am doing the same.

In case anyone else winds up needing them, I'm adding links to the stock firmware I downloaded.

[GUIDE] Not quite newbie guide for moving to 5.1.1

In one of the development threads a request was made for a step-by-step for transitioning to a 5.1.1 ROM from an earlier version and an example was given from another device. Well I modified the example to make it apply to the Sprint Note 4.
All files needed are linked at the end of this post. This is my first attempt at a guide, so any suggestions for improvement will be gladly accepted.
Prerequisites:
1 - Latest Samsung-USB-Drivers (1.5.55.0) installed
2 - Odin v3.10.6 installed
3 - Two files either on an extsdcard in the phone or on your PC for sideloading through adb:
UBERWIPE.zip (Only for use if you have an extsdcard), BETA-SuperSU-v2.49.zip
**** - If you do not have an extsdcard you will need adb installed on your PC in order to get the SuperSU
file onto your phone for flashing.
Loading Stock OG5:
1 – Run Odin v3.10.6 as administrator
2 – Load the appropriate tar in the AP slot
--If you are on OB7 Bootloader and wish to keep it load Hybrid_OB7sbl_SPT_N910PVPU4COG5.tar
--For complete OG5 upgrade load N910PVPU4COG5_N910PSPT4COG5_N910PVPU4COG5.tar.md5
3 – Click on the ‘Options’ tab avove the Log window
4 – Uncheck the reboot option in Odin.
5 - Click on the ‘Log’ tab above the Log window
6 – Phone off. Enter download mode by holding down Vol Down, Home and Power to first screen presence
7 – Enter download mode by moving cursor – Vol Up.
8 – Plug phone into PC. Drivers are already installed so look for Connection in Odin.
9 – Start Odin on good battery charge. Don’t touch phone until complete, 5-10min.
10 – Close Odin, disconnect cable from phone, turn phone off and remove battery.
Removing the battery is the only way to turn it off at this point. Not exactly true but that's all you need to know. It's the best way.
Rooting via TWRP touch recovery:
1 – Put battery back in and enter download mode as above.
2 – Run Odin as administrator and load twrp-2.8.7.0-trltespr.img.tar in the AP slot
3 – Click on the ‘Options’ tab avove the Log window
4 – Uncheck the reboot option in Odin.
5 - Click on the ‘Log’ tab above the Log window
6 – Plug in phone to PC and watch for Odin to establish connection
7 – Start Odin. It will be quick.
8 – When done close Odin. Unplug phone, Power Down and remove battery.
9 – Replace battery and enter Recovery Mode by holding Vol Up, Home and Power to first screen presence
10 – Let TWRP load
11 – If you don’t have an extsdcard then navigate to Advanced > ADB Sideload and use adb to transfer BETA-SuperSU-v2.49.zip from your PC to your phone
12 – Navigate back to the main screen the to Install and choose the location of the SuperSU file
13 – After flashing BETA-SuperSU-v2.49.zip choose Wipe Dalvik/Cache option.
14 - When wipe is completed you have two choices:
--Choose reboot in which case you will have a rooted stock system
--Wipe the current system and install a custom ROM (see below)
If you choose to flash a custom ROM:
1 - Wipe the current system
--If you have and extsdcard with UBERWIPE.zip on it all you need to do is install that zip and when the
recovery automatically reboots your phone will be clean and ready for a new ROM
--If you don’t have an extsdcard I recommend the following:
A - Navigate to the Wipe submenu
B - Perfom a factory reset 3 times
C - Choose format data, type yes on the following screen then enter. Do this 3 times
D - Navigate back to the Wipe submenu and choose Advanced. Then choose everything except extsdcard
and execute. Do this 3 times.
(At this point if you don’t have an extsdcard you will need to navigate Advanced > ADB Sideload and tansfer the ROM of your choice from your PC to your phone)
2 - Navigate to Install and choose the location of your ROM file
3 - When the flash has completed choose the Wipe Dalvik/Cache button
(At this point I always flash the Beta-SuperSU file and wipe Dalvik/cache again, but I’m just OCD)
4 - Reboot the phone and LET IT SIT AT LEAST 15 MINUTES before you touch it to set anything up!!!
Here is a list of the files and executables you'll be working with: (Links either lead to thread of the file on XDA or direct download from my person Google Drive account)
Samsung-Usb-Driver-v1.5.55.0.exe
Odin3_v3.10.6.zip (3.10.7 is avaiable now as well)
Either:

thank you so much worked like a charm
Good job wolf. Even though the rom OP's have the needed info some people get a little overwhelmed by the amount of info so it will be helpful to many to have a step by step. Good job.
Thanks for this thread. However, it did not work for me. Only way I could get to OG5 was by Odin to N910PVPU3BOF5_N910PSPT3BOF5_N910PVPU3BOF5_HOME.tar and taking the OTA to OG5. I was just running stock rooted with the newest TWRP . Followed everything to a T. Maybe today just isn't my day.

Which file did you use to try and Odin to OG5? The Hybrid with OB7 bootloader or the pure stock OG5?

Mackie, exactly which rom do you want to flash?
Post a screenshot of the last 7 entries in "about device" in settings.
@00_MACKIE_00
Don't mean this to be an inquisition but what failures did you get with Odin or boot or function when following this tut?
Both tars not getting you there is an answer but details, please. TIA. Glad you managed on your own. Not doubting you but curious enough to ask.

I'm curious as well.
Thanks people who have either replied in this thread or messaged me.
The erorrs I was having was with Odin. It would not write at all for either Hybrid_OB7sbl_SPT_N910PVPU4COG5.tar or N910PVPU4COG5_N910PSPT4COG5_N910PVPU4COG5.tar.md5. In fact, Odin would get an error within about 5 seconds of pushing start. Again, the only way to get around it was to Odin back to OF5 and taking the OTA OG5. Once I was on OG5, I was able to flash TWRP in Odin and also install the ROM of my choice with no issues.
For what its worth, tried 3 different revisions of Odin. I used 3.10.6 for TWRP . Seems funny to me I could Odin OF5 but not OG5 . This device is a replacement I got from Assurion about a week after the Note 4's were no longer being sold. It came with OF5 .
Have a good day all!

Well u should have done your reading about your bootloader. You're stuck on og5 only roms now. Bottom line, I treat my note 4 like it's irreplaceable............ Because it is.

[Guide] Multi Boot Note 5

[Guide] Multi Boot Note 5
I am using this on SM-N920C of the Note 5; I believe this will work with other Note 5 Variants as well. Sprint variant already confirmed. Others who have different variants which are not tested can try this and update us, and we will be here to help you out if you are ready to try this out.
@chenxiaolong is the one who made this happen to our beloved Note 5
Main advantage of this is you can try any new rom with out loosing or having any kind of trouble with your existing rom. This mod will not change anything in your primary rom, so any time you can go back to your normal state.
Disclaimer
1.I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, etc.
2.Before going further! YOU are choosing to make these modifications.
supported Devices: ( Tested and confirmed working)
SM-N920C : noblelte (Tested by me )
SM-N900P (Sprint): nobleltespr (Tested )
Requirements
* Read the full guide before Starting.
* Backup your phone if you are doing this first time. (Full Nandroid backup recommended for the new comers and it’s also recommended to others who don’t know what they are doing exactly even if they have multi booted several times)
* Rooted Note 5 with custom recovery (preferred TWRP or philz).
* free space in your internal SD (for example a TW rom could take up to 6.5GB )
* If you face any trouble please read the FAQ before doing something or asking for help. And if you want help please provide as much as details(device, roms, etc.) you can.
*
Instruction:
1.Download your desired Rom which you want to use for multi booting and the mods, addons, Kernel etc for the same. Keep the files in your internal memory.
2. Download the most recent snapshot release of Dual Boot Patcher and install it on your Note 5.
3. Open Dual Boot Patcher and grant SU permission. Then go to ROMS and you will see your Primary rom, press the 3dotmenu key and click "set kernel".
4. Then In Dual Boot Patcher go to Patch Zip File and Choose nobleltespr - samsung galaxy note 5 from the device drop down menu.
5. In the Partition configuration drop down menu select "Data Slot".
6. Below that you have to enter the ID of the secondary rom.(Example 1, 2, 3, etc. - it will take it as /data/multiboot/data-slot-1)
7.Now tap on the below button to choose the ROM's, Kernel and mods to patch them and make them perfect for Multi booting.
8. Always remember to keep same slot ID for the kernels and mods same as the rom. (Example: if you want to flash the kernel to the data-slot-1 rom then you have to select the same ID that’s 1 or if you want to flash the kernel to the data-slot-2 rom then you have to select the same ID that’s 2.)
9. Now press the tap to begin patching button to patch the file. And you will get a new patched zip file in the same location.
10. patch the kernel also for your rom with same id because most if the roms comes with out kernel so we have to patch the kernel and flash it along with the rom.
11. Now Boot into custom recovery and flash the new patched rom followed by the patched kernel without wiping anything and reboot.
12. And your device will boot into New Rom.
13.Install the Dual Boot Patcher app and set the kernel for your second ROM as well.
14. To switch between roms
•Open Dual Boot Patcher app/roms and click on primary or secondary rom as you like and reboot.
* Important things to keep in mind: while installing a rom or mod with Aroma installer don't reboot directly from the aroma.
You have to always uncheck the last option to reboot in aroma and click finish. So it can finish the final steps for multi booting.
And if you miss that it will only reboot to recovery. To boot back you have to flash your primary rom kernel or re-flash the patched rom.
Never update a secondary rom through OTA Update.
Revert
To revert back or if you face any problem just flash my Multi Boot cleaner.zip which will wipe all the installation files from \system and restore the primary rom kernel.
As a backup keep a copy of your kernel flashable zip file.
FAQ
1. App sharing?
Ans. Will be added shortly.
3. This rom can’t be patched.
Ans. some roms are not supported its known, if the Dev have time may be he will consider including them.
4. I am getting error while using the dual boot app.
Ans. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67198156&postcount=120
Add ro.patcher.device=noblelte to the bottom of your built.prop and your problem will be solved.
if your device is different from the above mentioned then add your product name instead of "noblelte"
if you don't know how to add this make a request with your product name, so i will make a flashable zip for that.

Everyone please re-download the multiboot cleaner
kernel flashing fixed.
Could it work on my s6 edge 925F with a note5 rom? I'd really like to dual boot my phone!
Thanks for your work and sorry for the noob question!
Woeking on a Version for Samsung Galaxy S6 (G920F)?
Great work btw!
So adding that line to my build.prop allows me to multiboot two COJ5 ROMs just fine.
For fun i tried running the MM ROM as a primary and booting a COJ5 as a secondary, it doesn't work. The COJ5 ROM sits in a semi-bootloop it either sits at the Samsung boot animation or the "Starting Apps" . Now i stopped it after ~20 minutes, i figured it was dead at that point.
Either way Multiboot def works nicely on the SM-N920T

Check the screen shot for supported device's. With a note 5 rom I'm not sure. But with a note 5 port sure you can and the procedure will be almost same.
can you port it to s6?

It will work with s6 also. You can follow the same instructions.
In the device drop down you have to select s6 flat/edge.
And the rest is same as note 5 guide.
if there is more requests, i can make a guide for s6 as well. for that i need a tester to confirm its working. i know its already working. but just in case. also as long as the moderators allows i will give support for that thread.

You need a root file Explorer app. I like ES File Explorer.
Then go to /system/build.prop and add that line to the bottom of the file.
