Verizon update broke Pro Mode camera, how to roll back? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

The Verizon update broke the pro mode, specifically for video. The manual controls, like exposure, no longer have an effect on video (still do with photos though).
How can I roll back to the previous version?

There's no rolling back unless you backed up a rooted phone. You should contact the app developer and all then to update the app to work with the new firmware.

I actually used mine last night. Did you have any packages disabled when you updated? It's probably factory data reset time.

I've not used a package disabler, and I've factory reset. I have access to the controls like you, but they don't affect the video. The controls are there but don't do anything.

Droid X Camera Not Working After Update?

Got the Droid X on 7/15, everything was great, got the system update, now the camera won't work. Black screen only, even though both the Camera and Camcorder apps behave like they're working (with a black screen). Cannot take pictures at all, can take video, although no image is shown and playback of videos is a completely black screen.
I look in the camera and it looks like the shutter is open, although I'm not 100% certain what a closed shutter would look like. I think I can see the lens.
I did a full System Restore, the problem did not go away.
I've tried the camera app from the marketplace, facebook, etc., all treat the camera in the same way: just a black screen.
Trying to take a picture, the focus noise doesn't even sound.
This was working prior to the update, albeit in a laggy manner. Should I return my Droid X, or is there some other software / use fix I have not tried?
Thank you in advance!
No one else is having this issue?
This is the first i personally have heard of this issue.
I would take it back and see if they can exchange it.

After the update I would try to go into the camera but it would say that it couldn't open it. A couple hours later it worked no problem. I recommend a factory reset to se if that helps and then try to exchange.
Edit: sort I didn't se that you already tried to reset it. Yeah it is time to take it back.

I've tried a soft and hard reset and no luck. But a quick search on the Motorola forums brings me to conclude that this could be a major problem that if it doesn't happen to you now, it might just happen later.

I have two droid X phones. My Camera quit the first time I tried to use it after the update. My daughters died 2 days after she updated. Verizon fix is to send me a refurbished phone. My fix is to get rid of motorola and verizon as soon as possible. Any help would be appreciated

Mine did same thing... i pulled the battery while phone was on per the tech on the phone and it has worked fine since.
I have noticed this on rooted droid x's. Factory wipe didn't really resolve any of the camera issues. Re-loading with SBF resolved the issue sometimes, while other times, a simple cache wipe resolves the issue.
I dont know if this will work, but its just a suggestion that fixed my camera. My camera/camcorder app wouldn't open, so then I went into the gallery and deleted a corrupted image (It was all strange looking, a black square with lines on it, and also wouldn't open in any programs). Once I removed this image from my SD card the camera worked. Worth a try I guess...
Also try using another app to open the camera, like Vignette, in order to see if it is a hardware issue or a blur camera app issue.

[Q] Camera not working, possibly disabled?

My Nexus 10's camera is not working - t goes into the app and all I see is a gray screen. For a while I had an exchange server configured that disabled my camera, so I'm wondering if this could be a residual setting due to that. I performed a factory reset, but to no avail.
Is there a way to perform a harder reset, so that all system files and setting are wiped out?
(I once heard that the build.prop is not overwritten on a factory reset).
Thanks.
Have you tried a different version of Gapps? I had something similar, where the camera would take a minute to startup completely.
Do other camera apps work? Try a free one from the Play Store.

Nope, I don't think it's a delay. It just doesn't work, even with a 3rd party app I used to use on my phone.
Very strange indeed. Maybe you could reflash the stock ROM. I think the factory reset might not clear the system data for apps. Just a guess though. Beyond that I'm at a loss. Sorry.

Correct. If the problem is in the /system partition, a factory reset will never touch it.
camera hang
I got a refurbished N10 a few days ago, I did a stock 4.4. flash and the camera initially was black, then after a few goes it would work for a few seconds then become non-responsive, had to a hard reboot once.
Is this a dud unit I got or a problem others have? Remember - stock 4.4 no special kernel etc. I did have a special kernel but I flashed back to stock in trying to fix the problem but nada.

Similar issue. Completely stock N10 on 4.4. Camera works fine after boot but a day or two later it is exhibiting this issue of only showing a completely black screen on the default camera app. Same thing with any other app that uses the camera: blackness. And again a reboot rectifies it for a while. Anyone know what is going on with the camera on 4.4?
I happened to have the same issue (but my camera crashed and notified me), and when I searched for it I got this massive thread on Google's product forum. Guess any Nexus device has a chance of having cam boot issues: https://productforums.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/nexus/z47YrU5rxrc

[Q] Extremely poor quality of camera when video chatting

I got an att lg g2 a few days ago with stocked firmware 80010d. Everything worked very well. I then flashed my cell to att 4.4.2 kitkat (80020c) with lg flash tool. The updating process should be successful because I strictly followed a video tutorial and everything is expected.
After flashing I realized that the picture quality of both front and back camera are very poor in some video chatting software (I used Wechat and Hangout). How poor it is? Most of the time my picture is totally black unless you put a light source in front of the camera (both front and back camera are experiencing the same thing). It seems the brightness level of the camera is set to its lowest value so everything is dark, and there is no way to adjust it in the video chatting software. (I do try to set the ISO and brightness to maximum level in camera app, but nothing is changed). Attachments show screen captures in Hangout with or without a light source in it.
Occasionally (it happened once when I had the phone fully charged), the brightness level is good, but the picture quality is extremely low. It seems the camera resolution is only 0.1MP instead of 2MP.
The camera itself works very well taking pictures or videos. It is only bad in video chatting. I searched hard on google but it seems my case is very rare. Is there some settings or adjustments I can do to fix this problem? I know my question is too long, Thank you for any advice.
Guess this is really rare. I will roll back to 10d and see what happens.
My wife's new LG G2 is doing the same thing and she is on stock kit Kat uprooted, came f e on AT&T on 10C, I'm using ClodyPro II on mine and mine works fine. Her problem is exactly like yours

So found a fix, just did it for my wife's G2 which as I said has the same issue, or had. I used the Flashtool to taker her back to 10d then I rooted, installed recovery, updated recovery, and flashed the 10d to 10c keep root and recovery in the AT&T G2 Dev Section, after I backed up first and preformed the install I immediately did a factory reset to wipe data, cache, and dalvik before I rebooted from recovery. Once it was set up, I tried hangouts and the camera looked just like mine, great!! Thought I'd share

lg g2 issue in wechat after kitkat update
Even i'm experiencing the same **** in with my g2 after kikat ota update..... pls anyone have a solution
I am also having the same issue. I use wechat and stock kitkat not rooted. I think it's happening to a lot of us, so it isn't rare. Is there a solution yet? If not, can we get together and maybe report it.
Thanks.

Front facing camera

Is anyone else experiencing problems with their front facing camera? I've only had my moto x pure for a month. Last week, the camera was malfunctioning and when the app froze, I restarted my phone and the front facing option button was not there anymore. I tried clearing the cache and disabling it, uninstalling the updates and using a different app but it's still not there. Can anyone help me with this problem?

I did do a factory reset and it worked for a few hours but then it stopped working once again.
Then what apps did you install when it stopped working?

I didn't install any new apps. I was using the rear facing camera for about 2 hours on and off and sometimes it would lag. After that, the camera app started to freeze up every time I opened it up. Then the front facing camera stopped working.
I just noticed my front camera no longer works. It has been a while but it didn't hit me that there was a problem. Cerberus is set to take a photo after two missed passwords and I did notice it was only taking pictures from the rear camera a few weeks ago. Open Camera app doesn't see the front camera either.
I did a factory reset and that didn't help. I also thought I used to be able to pick the storage location but that doesn't show up in the menu.
I am on a 1575 with the latest patch (February Security). I am rooted (systemless) but I am not sure that comes into play since the factory reset didn't fix it.
I have the moto extended warranty including damage but would like to definitely rule out software issues before going down that path.
I continued troubleshooting by installing AICP (I had been running stock), unrooting and also tried booting into android "safe mode" and the front camera still didn't work. I finally rolled back to 5.1.1 using the return to stock tool and the front camera still did not work. I am now believing that the problem is hardware related so I am sending it in to Moto for repairs. Interestingly their website would not process the repair (it said I was not in the US even though my address clearly said US) so I called and they processed it. I have the FedEx label from them and they said the turn around is around 5 days. Back to my HTC M8 for a week or so.
Moto emailed me today and said that my warranty is void because I unlocked my bootloader. I was under the impression that hardware issues would still be covered not to mention that I bought the moto extended warranty. It looks like this is my last moto.

Black screen when recording videos

Do you guys experience a black screen for 1-5 seconds when you take videos using the stock camera using auto settings? This happens when the photo size is set to 4:3 and the video resolution is set to 16:9.
Examples (it is worse with SD card):
Internal
-https://youtu.be/fbK_COczXz0
SD card

Can you guys test this for me?
I need to determine if this happens to all phones or just mines so I can decide to exchange /repair it.
My device is US996 7.0
EDIT: OREO update seem to fixed it. but there is still a slight delay .

Try clearing your cams cache. Other than that...sounds like your phone or software. Also try a different cam app if issue persists.

I tried factory resetting and safe mode. But it still happens. It only happens if I use stock cam using that exact setting using auto mode. Doesn't happen when both is set to 16:9, manual mode or other camera apps like g cam and open camera; there's no black screen but the delay before it record may be still there, but I'm assuming that could be normal.
I'll try updating to oreo to see if it fixes it.
Atm, I requested an RMA for incase I can't fix this in stock.
It don't do that for me...I'm on ls997 classic ROM. Stock or this V30 port I'm running don't do that. Gcam is an odd one...but that's expected.

I updated to oreo and the black screen is gone. There's still like a 1-2 second delay with internal storage (timed it) when I press the record button and when I see the record icon shows up. Should i assume that is normal with this phone?
I probably have to live with that...
