Android 6.0/EMUI 4.0/Volume up or down in Lockscreen - P8lite Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I upgraded the P8lite of my wife to Marshmallow and EMUI 4.0 - which worked smooth and without any problem.
But my wife encountered one change to Lollipop/EMUI 3.1 which bothers her:
With the old firmware and EMUI she was able to change the volume without unlocking the screen (not PIN or pattern protected).
After upgrading to Marshmallow and EMUI 4.0, this is no longer possible and she always has to unlock the screen by swiping to the right, before she can change the volume.
I checked with my Elephone and plain Vanilla Marshmallow, and for me it works. I donĀ“t have to unlock to change to volume.
Seems with EMUI 4.0 the keys are locked completely unless the phone is unlocked...
Is there any known configuration item I can use to change that?
Or a workaround?
You know the WAF (woman acceptance factor) for new firmware is based on "everything remains as it was before!"
Hope you can help

[Q] Face Unlock - NOT SUPPORTED

Greetings folks -
After spending countless hours compares various tablets (Ipad4, Nexus 10, Asus, etc.) I decided to go w/ the Nexus 10 - and I'm not going to lie, one of the many intriguing aspects of selecting an Android 4.0+ OS device was being able to use the 'face unlock' and 'liveness check' as a quick unlocking tool (I'm well aware of the short-comings of these features, it still just intrigues me).
After fiddling around w/ my Nexus 10 for 2 days, I decided to go into settings and enable that feature. Lo and behold, it was nowhere to be found. I confirmed that my unit was running the latest version of the OS and then called in the support center to figure out was going on. Surprisingly enough, I was the first person to ever call in regarding this - but it turns out that Face Unlock is currently NOT SUPPORTED at all on the Nexus 10. For some older Tablets w/VGA cameras, but that had still upgraded to 4.0, Google intentionally made Face Unlock inaccessible due fear that the poor camera resolution would render it obsolete. How on earth could that be the case with the Nexus 10 and its 1.9 MP front facing camera?
I'm curious to know if anybody knows anything regarding an estimated release date of this feature - and rather if Google has decided to scrap it all together? I feel like the Nexus 10 should be running the most powerful, up-to-date version of the OS available so I find it puzzling that this has been left off.
I realize this is a tiny feature; however, it's something I looked forward to being able to use.
Thanks in advance!
Stock 4.2 and 4.2.1 on the Nexus 10 have Face Unlock under security. It even is an option when the tablet is encrypted, which is new in 4.2, I think.
Weird - working fine on my stock 16 nexus 10. Are you sure you're looking at the right settings. You want security then screen unlock.
It definitely, works, and always has done, as has been said, it's under security, lock screen.
If your rom does not have face unlock option and your device is rooted
Grab the FaceLock.apk from any other rom having this future
Push the file to /system/apps/ and correct the permissions to 644
Reboot and you will have facelock option in lockscreen options

[Q] incomplete lollipop on galaxy s5 900F official naked

Hello everybody! !
My s5 is a European one bought naked.
Two days ago I updated it via ota to Android lollipop.
The probleme is the update seems to be uncomplete .
For example, I can't define notifications as sensible, i can only choose for a, application to display notifications or not.
I can't pin an application.
The camera api is still the same.
material design is not everywhere.
He only new thing on my device is the lack of the silent mode, and a bit of material design.
I did not find anybody else having this issue and really don't know what's happening.
In device properties it says I'm on android 5.0
Any idea?

Should I update from EMUI 3.1 to 4.5 ??

Just got my second hand P8 from eBay. Someone told me the camera functions will not be working properly if I upgrade from 3.1 to 4.5 . Is this true ?
Please kindly advise.

You mean from EMUI 3.1( Lollipop) to EMUI 4.0( Marshmallow)?. EMUI 4.0 is way better in all aspects especially the camera which you get to have a manual mode. So go a head and update and don't listen to that someone.
battery is considerably worse for me on android 6/emui 4.0, if i were to be more precise i'd say about 30% worse compared to android 5/emui 3.1, the new emui fixed some bugs and introduced others, the UI is however a lot smoother on the new emui, transitions are a pleasure to look at, i rolled back to 5 though, battery life is most important to me
thanks for your feedback and I will stick around with Android Version 5

Battery is not worse!
battery is noticable better in marshmallow, overall experience is smoother and faster, but im pissed of about music pausing when screen locked, it just hibernate stock or any music player even if i allowed it in battery optimalization, Huawei never again
b317 has bad battery life and it's a bit slower
i just updated to b321, it's way better,good battery life,it feels faster.
http://imgur.com/l5KWKvQ - from ~75% to 30% 2h41min SOT with auto brightness,wi-fi and cellular data always on,sometimes even location services and a bit of gaming....on b317 i was doing ~2h30min from 100% to 10% and i was trying hard to do this.
In Antutu i get 49915 on b321,on b317 i did ~25k

This is a bug i think with the current marshmallow rom, use Light Manger app for the apps that you don't get notification for or for all apps.
p8
Is it better to go back on 5.0 or to wait for 6.0 update better then this beta version?
whit whitch version is my phone going to have better performance?

Moto G5 plus: Navbar not accepting touch, even woth one nav button feature.

Hi,
I've a moto g5 plus which is not accepting any touch to the navbar area. Even when I enable the one nav button feature, the navbar keys hide but I cannot touch or register response to that. I don't think it's a hardware issue but if it is, how should I check it?! I'm currently using fluid navbar guesture app to navigate.?
The problem appeared suddenly when I was on Android 7.0, I thought ota will fix this problem. So I updated device to 8.1. But problem did not solved. So I tried hard reset, but no luck. If somebody know what exactly the problem is, I'd be glad. The device is not rooted nor the bootloader is unlocked.
How do I install stock oreo rom? I think this should fix it but I'm not sure.
Please help.
If you have your warranty you should get the device checked, that sounds hardware unless you rooted (you didn't) and touched something
What was the last thing you remember doing before this trouble started?
Does the screen touch works at the bottom? Does the navbar register the touch but it doesn't do anything? Can you see your lockscreen?

Hi M1810, thanks for replying.
I've been told it's hardware issue by service centre but they not even touched my phone, that's another story perhaps. I don't think it's a hardware issue as I'm doubtful about how only the navbar portion of my screen became unresponsive only and not other part of screen?!!!
Last thing I remember doing is switching between one nav guesture feature toggling on and back. But it was working fine then for some time. It just suddenly stopped working. (This is the reason I think this is a software issue. With the moto nav bar feature.)
I've enabled the show touches from developer option. The taps not even getting registered on the bottom portion. Other than that, there is no problem. I can see lock screen but cannot touch the bottom three icons, the camera and google mic thing.

If not even the lockscreen lower part reponds then it's hardware.. if updating/reseting did not solve it

I don't know for sure, i recommend you to ask in that thread, ehat i know is that it is not recommended to install custom ROM's if you're currently on 8.1 stock

External Speaker useless after 8.1 OTA update (impossibly quiet)

Not, rooted, located in US.
Before I did the OTA update to 8.1 last night, my external speaker worked fine, both for speakerphone calls, and media playback.
During my first use of 8.1 today, the external speaker is now so quiet (on full volume) that it's useless in all but the quietest rooms.
Calls on speakerphone are barely louder than if I just shut the speaker off. Watching Youtube on full blast is barely discernible in an average noise environment, and forget listening to music outside or in the car.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Same problem here
It's a official software bug. Most of the people who updated Oreo got this issue. If you want to use your phone use any other custom ROM available here. Otherwise need to downgrade to Nougat. If you can wait for another update from Moto to rectify this bug means bare with this volume issue untill Moto releases new update to fix this.

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately I doubt Moto will ever release a fix for this.
I never bothered rooting this phone, I guess I am going to find out if its even possible, now that it has Oreo on it.

Rooting stock Oreo is even easier compared to Nougat, because you don't need a custom kernel anymore. Still I would advise to use the new Loony Kernel or ElementalX for being able to use different RGB values if your device has screen retention problems.
Other observations from this OS "upgrade:"
My phone now struggles to stream Youtube to Chromecast... video/sound sometimes is choppy... previously no issues at all.
Sometimes the phone randomly decides Wifi wont work. Can flip the switch to the on position, but it still says "Wifi is off." Only recourse is to restart the phone.
Overall very disappointed. Can't wait until I get a chance to root and ditch this OTA update.
