A Note 4 on Android 4.4.4? (SM-N910-A/S/T/V) - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am looking to buy a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 still on Android 4.4.4 with either AT&T/Sprint/T-Mobile/Verizon as carrier (SM-N910-A/S/T/V). Would anyone point me towards a listing on eBay/Amazon or anywhere else that would be selling a Note 4 still on Android 4.4.4?
While it's been easy for me to see listings for new Note 4s on eBay/Amazon it's been very difficult to determine what Android version ships on those new phone listings since new Note 4s are factory sealed, and as such the Android version installed from the factory cannot be determined - this is why I am asking help in finding such a listing. Please help, thanks!
In transparency, I really prefer to have the most app-compatibility when it comes to which Android version is installed, and particularly I see that Android 4.4.4 has the most compatibility with certain apps that have features otherwise incompatible/patched/made more difficult to access in Android versions higher than Android 4.4.4.
In short, Android 4.4.4 is compatible with everything I need it to be, and as a result don't want to upgrade to a higher Android version just to find out there is some app/feature not available on that new Android OS (ie. patched/restricted), and only available on Android 4.4.4.

hmmm no way to be sure if the phone is packed, btw if you dont mind sharing why are you looking for 4.4.4?

dork997, added explanation to initial post.
In addition, I know the bottom of some of the Note 4 sealed packages (maybe all?) list the Baseband version, and one can use SamMobile to determine the Baseband number that corresponds to the Android version installed.
While this Is helpful when shopping in person, it's not so when shopping online. I am still looking for a listing for a Note 4 (either SM-N910-A/S/T/V) with Android 4.4.4 if anyone would point towards a listing that would help me so much?
Additionally, does anyone know if the factories update the Android versions/Basebands on the phone as the updates happen? Like, for example, the Sprint Samung Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910P) was released with Android 4.4.4 as its initial Baseband in 2014 - does that mean that the factories stick to that initial Baseband version all through the years in production or do the factories at some point update the Basebands, so that more recently made Note 4s now ship with an updated Baseband/Android version?
Can anyone elaborate on this question please?

I am also looking for a way to downgrade to 4.4.4. Since i have 2 N910U, originally stayed on 4.4.4, without update for best stability. However, one of them got "no signal" problem, and replaced circuit board after maintenance service, thus i am forced to upgrade to 5.0.1, and no longer have choice to downgrade. It takes me a lot of time to try to downgrade! Android system updates too much, and won't let user downgrade, it's not a reasonable policy.

I was under the impression that all the bootloaders for AT&T and Verizon were locked; whereas, Sprint and T-Mobile were unlocked - can anyone confirm if this is the case?
As a correction, the video linked shows a downgrade not from 5.1.1. (Baseband N910TUVU2DOK2) but from 5.0.1 (N910TUVU1COG2) to Android 4.4.4 (Baseband: N910TUVU1ANK4) on the T-Mobile Samsung Note 4 (SM-N910T) which is still great to hear.
Building on that video linked, would it be possible to downgrade a T-Mobile Samsung Note 4 (SM-N910T) on Android 5.1.1 (N910TUVU2DOK2) all the way back to Android 4.4.4 (N910TUVU1COG2)?

I think that T-Mobile Note 4 is quite behind updates from samsung. They don't even get the update "OJ" things that block bootloaders from being downgraded to lower version.

You'd better ask the video uploader.

You can downgrade both the Verizon and T-Mobile variant down to KitKat at any point since the Verizon bootloader has been unlocked and T-Mobile has never been locked.

Nope that's wrong US Note 4's cannot be downgraded back to Kitkat. Only the N910F and N910W8 can be downgraded.

The Tmobile one requires the stock rom from the rent a center model that's stuck on Kitkat otherwise you cannot downgrade

Region Firmware Question

I'm trying to update my SM-P605 Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 LTE to P605XXUBMJ9 and I am so confused by the manual process. I can't do OTA because I rooted and when I go to a ROM download site there are all these regions and carriers mentioned. I'm worried about bricking my device or carrier locking it to a company thousands of miles away. Can you help? Sorry for being so dumb but I've never bought a device outside of a store where they set everything up for you.
Current specs:
Android 4.3
P605XXUBMJ4 Baseband
3.4.0-1927787 [email protected] #1 Kernel
JSS15J.P605ZSUBMJ6 Build number
Enforcing SEPF_SM-P605_4.3_0002 SELinux status
I'm currently in the USA, using T-Mobile, and I was told by Amazon that the device is unlocked.

Being that its a ZS build it looks like its from China.
I would only flash P605ZS***** Builds if you are worried about locking it by mistake.
FYI: The first two digits after the model number are the region

Thank you a million times. I feel like such an idiot :S Do you know if there's an upgrade to MJ9 yet in the China region? Do I need to take any extra precautions to ensure it stays carrier unlocked and usable in the United States.

My understanding is the partition that holds the carrier info / locking info is not touched during a flash with Odin. HOWEVER, I never got into that unlocked device thing because I never had a need to.
Someone else may be better suited to the question than I but as long as you flash ZS based firmwares you should be fine as I did not see a carrier listed for that tablet in China so they may all be unlocked.
Actually, I only think the Verizon one is going to be the locked one but I dont know.

You are very helpful in my quest to not ruin an expensive tablet. Do you know if there's an upgrade compatible with ZS for the MJ9 update? I honestly don't mind waiting if there's a chance I'll turn it into a paper weight. Not even a Kit Kat build just some bug fixes from what I understand.
Again, thanks for your help.
I just don't understand all the carrier builds of MJ9. Bloody heck some of em even have custom names which would be a good sign it's specific to region/carrier. So confused by this all
So maybe unroot your device and then you will have an Ota Update... Because if you'll use Odin for flash other firmware you won't be rooted yet, i think.

Aren't OTA updates issued by providers? T-Mobile doesn't support this device so there's not going to be an MJ9 update. Ever. It's using an LTE frequency not even found in the States. I just bought it online because I didn't want to wait for somebody here to give me support. I'm simply trying to do a manual update without my device being a paperweight or waking up to expect a connection from cellular towers in Asia.

[Q] Wait... What? Kitkat on V-Note3?

So taking a look around the net today, I came across an article that states that you can flash Kitkat onto N900 (Galaxy Note 3) using Odin... Does/Would this also include the Verizon version of the Note 3? I was under the belief that Verizon's bootloader didn't allow for KitKat installations because of some kernel compatibility issue or something keeping it from working... But would this allow for a Kitkat working install on (non-dev-edition) Ver-Note3? And if so, would this allow lay the groundwork for devs to be able to create install-able kitkat roms for said device? Any and all info/help on this would be greatly appreciated, as I'm sure there's a great deal of want for people with the Verizon Note 3 to be able to have KitKat, myself included!

This applies to the international version only sm-900 witch has a unlocked bootloader. I'm almost positive someone here tried it and bricked their phone.

[Q] AT&T 4.4.4 update via SD Card?

I'll cut to the chase. I've read about 200 pages and can't seem to find what I'm after. I read the noob threads which were very informative.
I am located in Australia. Bought an AT&T Galaxy s4 from eBay Hong Kong. My last phone was an HTC and I used numerous ROMs on it but I want to keep touchwiz and samsung apps for now. I'm not ready to ditch all the features on my new phone just yet by installing a custom, stripped down ROM.
My GS4 came with JB 4.3, Baseband version MJ6.
I want to apply the AT&T 4.4.4 'official' update, but due to being on a different carrier in a different country, the OTA update just won't happen.
Can anyone point me to the official 4.4.4 firmware ?
Thanks in advance.
Anyone?
It doesn't exist. Samsung nor the carriers ever published it. The closest it 4.4.2 located in the general forum

And if you want a locked bootloader.
Just want to point out they do have an update officially from Samsung out to go to 5.1.1 on the US WiFi version.
I just got a wifi Android update after pressing "Software Update" under settings.
This 248MB downoad updated my S2 from 5.0.2 to 5.1.1 - Build number LMY47X.T810XXUIBOH7
The update was to US version SM-T810 tablet that I have had a little over 2 weeks.

Every modern device from Verizon has a locked bootloader.
Does the T-Mobile Galaxy Tab S2 come with Android 5.1.1 and does it have a locked bootloader?
Rogers Canada S2
Mine came with build LMY47X.T817WVLU1AOH2 android 5.1.1
I just bought an S2 WiFi 9.7" from Best Buy earlier this evening (25 Sep). Out of the box it had 5.1.1 on it.
I think other regions will have to wait some more, I heard there is an update ready to mitigate the stagefright vulnerability, but it's still 5.0.2
Sent from my SM-T810 using XDA Free mobile app
I also had a update when I purchased mine 2 weeks ago, but it was only a minor one, still 5.02
I have a UK 9.7"and it is on 5.0.2. No software update available at present.
Jeff
Mine came
Out of the box with 5.1.1 att version 4g lte. Sm-g817a. Trying to find a recovery and root method anyone else with any luck. Also did this model come with the bootloader locked. Just got mine today

I think you are out of luck - it looks like only WiFi models can be rooted as bootloader locked on other models. Check out the section on rooting in this S2 section. You may have to wait awhile.
Tmobile LTE tablet s2
Telstra Australia Tab S2 9.7 LTE
Came with 5.0.2. No updates. But is unlocked and rooted. Waiting on a deodexed rom now ?
5.1.1 @ 4g
From France
SM-T815 with 5.0.2
XXU1AOG9
Unlocked bootloader but no official update for me (I've rooted my tab)
I just got my 817T yesterday at T-Mobile, rocking 5.1.1 AOG8. Last night however, the Tab told me that an update was available. I haven't taken it yet because I didn't want to risk messing up the root process. I actually just got myself some root access 2 mins ago (I beleive a "woo hoo!!" is in order...) and I still have the notification for the update. I'd like to check out a changelog... just thought it was interesting for a Tmo device to be getting fast updates and such... Meanwhile my Note 4 is still on 5.0.1, ya know, unlike every other carrier
2 810's (one for my wife, one for myself); both on 5.0.2 out of the box, no update to 5.1.1 in sight. Maybe Samsung skips 5.1.1 in our part of the world and goes straight to "M".

Note 4 International purchase in Australia question (Already rooted)

Hi
I recently purchased a Note 4 from a company in Australia it was a refurbished International Verizon model called an open box special was a great price at 499 but when it came I was surprised to find it was rooted and running a DongCHAU.A927 build number but was flagged as official not modified in the settings and Knox has not been tripped, its a SM-N910F but the boot loader is N910V. Its definitely not a fake but obviously not 100% official. There are also a couple of little things but they might be related to Lollipop 5.01 as below
When I click the spen button and point to the screen the air menu feature does not work, it only works when I pull the spen out
There is no link action memo icon so I cant link notes to actions
I am very happy with it but just curious about the above and I am also concerned what will happen if I receive an OTA update for example to Marshmallow will it brick or will there be issues, also if I want to put a custom rom on it will there be issues given the fact that its a 910F phone but the boot loader is 910V. There is no unusual software running when I boot into Samsung recovery or download so I'm not sure how they managed to modify it yet keep it official, also the firmware seems very genuine also the company I brought the phone off are clueless and just told me that's obviously how the international note 4 are LOL
Regards
Wayne
