Gmail's Sender's name not showing on top bar? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

Hey, so I just upgraded from the S5.
Usually when a new gmail gets in (in an active-unlocked screen), Gmail display's the sender's name on the top notification bar (notification bar ticker) by the clock. However, now when I get a new email, it only shows a Gmail's new mail icon without previewing the sender's/author...
Same thing with text messaging too... It just shows an icon without previewing the message on the top bar...
I tried playing around with the notifications but couldn't get it to work...
Any ideas?

Redirect action new email notification

If a get a notification in the top bar that a new email has arrived and I press it, I get the overview of the available top functions.
So far so good.
Then I press the big email icon and a popup at the bottom comes in view, telling me the number of unread emails.
I have the option to VIEW or DISMISS
Here's my problem with this.
On pressing the big emailbutton, I wan't to be transferred into the mail application, skipping the bottom popup. It's completely irrelevant to me and the extra step is useless if you know that you are getting lots of mails every day.
Is there a way to disable the bottom popup and be transferred directly into the maill-app

Gmail notification bug?

When I receive a new gmail message, I usually click on the notification bar which opens Gmail and takes me to my new message. That's fine. But when I do this, the new message notification doesn't disappear. After reading the message I'll click Home button and the New Gmail alert is still in the notification bar. On my G1 the alert always disappeared from my notification bar when I clicked on it.
I did notice that if I click on it and hit the Back button after I'm done reading Gmail that the alert will remove itself from my notification bar, but this never happens when I hit the Home button instead.
I have noticed this also, but I like it.
I haven't had this issue... very odd.
I've noticed this too.... hit the go back arrow and it will kick you into your gmail inbox thus clearing the notification.

How to force displaying of "Notifications" screen

On the top title bar on the HD2 screen, it shows battery level, signal level, time ,ect.
At times it will also show an "email" icon, or and "SMS" icon to indicate that a new email or sms came in.
But, I only know to carefully tap the title bar on the middle to right side of the titlebar to then pop-up/display the full-screen notification app which more easily displays a verbose/detailed description of any notifications.
Does anyone know if there is a way to display this "Notification" screen via a shortcut instead of having to tediously tap the top title bar on the screen?
settings menu all settings sounds and notifications notifications tab in top select "message new email message" and tick show on screen.

I am sorry, I meant to say how can I call up the "nitification" master screen even if there are currently no notifications to announce.
In other words, it seems the left softkey on home screens for older ROMS use to say "Notifications", which did exactly what I am looking for (to call up that main notification screen). But it seems the new roms change this left softkey to "Action".
So, how can I manually call up the "Notification" screen even if there are no current notifications to display?

Email icon with unread email

I would like to have an email icon showing unread email (pop3) in my arc with the native Sony apps. It's possible?

I think I know what you mean. I used to have an HTC Touch HD and the icons for SMS and Email would show how many unread texts/emails you had. All you get in android is an icon in the notification area. It's taken me a while to get used to which icon is which as I have hotmail, gmail and sms.
Is there any way (or an app) to have the shortcuts show you how many unread items there are instead??

Just found a couple of apps called Gmail unread count and SMS unread count. These are widgets which kinda works. Can't figure out how you go and change the options once you've added them though. Maybe I have to remove the widget and add it again.

Android 5 lock screen notification bar

After upgrading to Android 5 I miss the left side notification bar. The right side with the clock, network strength and battery level is still there, but on the left side is only my provider's name showing. Under 4.4.2 there used to be information icons if there were incoming emails or Facebook messenger messages. How can I get that back? I only want the small icons not the new notification messages.
