[Discussion] Root Progress Discussion (PLEASE post if you have ANY updates!) - LG G5 Guides, News, & Discussion

hey guys
as you might have noticed, there are very few updates in any of the threads on the progress of actually finding root for the G5. i am making this thread for people that have questions about root or have any updates about their progress to post in here to keep us updated. PLEASE post if you have ANY updates on the progress of root. we are all pretty much in the dark at the moment
as they stated before, Jcase and Beaups are not working on this device anymore so do not ask about them.

Fascinate root method dated

Several stickies and guides point to this post related to rooting: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=779238
The thread is now dated and it seems once you try it the phone will disable USB debugging. It has been this way since a January 2011 maintenance update (source)
The workarounds listed in that link also no longer work. I have found a couple other methods to root that are also dated and I know of no current working root method. I cannot post to the dev forum to ask to have the "Fascinate Sticky Roll-Up Thread **Check this thread BEFORE posting**" sticky and others updated but I am posting here in case someone can help clean up some of the dated info.

[Discussion] How have you mod'd your S4?

I'm just wondering if we can get a general mod thread going. What are you guys running?
I'm on stock 4.3 Rogers firmware with bloatware removed and rooted. I have a ton of xposed framework, I'll edit them in later. Also check this link out.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341709
Lets get a discussion going on all the fun things you've done to your phone.
If this thread is unwanted of violates anything, moderator just delete it and PM me.
As there are specific rom threads, along with individual mod threads, will shut this one down as there are already plenty of threads regarding this topic.
Threads like these turn into what rom is best arguments, and members are encouraged to try all the roms and setups to determine what is best for them.
As XDA is not a support site, members should read, study, download and flash (aka interact) in the specific rom threads in the development sections.

Moto G Lollipop OTA

I know, I know... Another lollipop thread. Since all those lollipop threads were merged into the AOSP
that thread became a bit of a mess. To make things much more easier and clear and If someone else makes a useless lollipop thread. merge it with this one,
If someone gets the OTA for Lollipop, post it here.

Asking about root for Lollipop (a small community rebuke)

Hello guys,
at first I want to say that I am really happy to be a member of this community, where so many users from different countries with different devices come together
and conducting experience exchange. This community is really important for every G3 user, especially to be updated on latest software or to solve problems.
But what really drives me nuts is the ongoing asking about how to root Lollipop in every possible thread.
The answers are mostly the same, what makes this question (let it be a post or a thread) almost useless.
Not only that it annoys me if I am continuously reading the same things, it also makes the whole forum confusing and relevant informations may go missing.
Why we cant create a seperate thread for rooting Lollipop whereto all this issue regarding threads will get removed?
And let us be honest: If you are not able to collect knowledge about rooting from the already existing threads, you shouldnt do it anyway.
Sorry but that had to be said
Just my 2 cents!

Wrong section for your REBUKE. We have Mods who determine whats right or wrong to post and they delete or move threads accordingly.
This rant is a waste of time and space. IMO should be in the Q & A Section but thats for the moderators to decide.
The next big thing will be to ROOT the G3 in its Lollipop/ART state which is why you see this question asked everywhere.
whoever comes up with a way to do this is worthy of praise.
I think the hardest thing to do is 1) Tell everyone at once that it doesn't exist yet, and 2) Tell everyone once it's achieved!
Sticky's do not work, in this day and age where information is so readily and quickly available, most people will not read pages of Q&A, no point discussing it it just will not happen.
Would be nice if once root on stock is done, that a message could be sent to anyone who's posted keywords 'root' + 'stock' under the LG G3 forums. Maybe that's an app in itself. IFFFT + Pushbullet etc etc
I second that my man. RoOT me stock G3 xda
we want to do something about the root Lollipop, please let

Hi Friend,
Please try this thread that I just created: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-update-to-lollipop-root-bumpd-twrp-t3048845
...it's tested to be working fine for my LG G3 variant (D858HK). The steps are from this original thread; I just added an extra manual step (and my thread looks long because I tried to detail the step, with pictures).

S6 Active. WE NEED ROOT.

Good day guys, I'm one of the owners of this device and as you may or may not know we don't have root yet.
Also we still have official 5.0.2 and no news on 5.1 or 6.0.
Such an under-rated phone for what it does!
Many owners of the device me included are willing to donate to developers for their work on rooting this thing.
Hope we can get some people to work on this amazing phone. Let us know about it here and we will help any way we can.
Thanks to xda community!
