Can I use Odin to go right from 4.4 to 5.0? - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I unrooted my phone and flashed it back to NI2 using Odin and wiped all my data. Can I, while still in this mode, flash the latest stock rom with odin (Lollipop BPB1)?

If you want the latest stock rom (unrooted) just take the Ota or you can download and Odin. If you need root rom , just root , install recovery and use safestrap and install the latest root pb1 rom.

You can, but then you can never downgrade back to NI2.
If instead you want to retain the ability to downgrade, you can either 1) root the NI2, install SafeStrap, and then install a rooted PB1 ROM, or 2) Use Odin to flash a modified PB1 stock image that has a BOD5 bootloader.

Im sending my phone ot for service because of the camera failed error.
i was originally rooted on 4.4.4 NI2.
Unrooted, uninstalled safestrap and busybox and did a factory reset.
Now i have the flash counter lockpad on boot screen so i need to reroot to remove it.
Tried flashing NCG stock but when i flash it in odin, the screen stays black and never boots up.
Im forced to flash either NI2 or NK2 which both work, just getting back to NCG to reroot doesnt work

You can't flash back to NCG from NI2. The best bet is to reroot by flashing the NCG kernel only on clean NI2 and running towelroot. Then reflash the NI2 kernel back. Do your cleanup and then unroot again.

x2. You can't do a full flash back, but if you flash the kernel you should still be able to. Follow @Misterxtc's step by step guide here...

Is there any known custom recovery for Verizon G900V S5 BOC4 build?

Just as the title asks, is there any custom recovery available for Verizon S5 running latest rooted, stock ROM? I have been unable to find a straight answer. I know NCG build works with Safestrap, but is there any custom recovery out there for BOC4 build? If not, how have people been installing mods and other zips that require flashing?

No custom recovery yet. Unless you want to venture into this post.

Flashfire will flash zips and firmware. And do backups. You can get it at the top of this post.

You can use flashfire, which is a very easy ways to install ROMs, or, when you want to install a ROM, just flash a Kitkat kernel in Odin and safestrap will work if you have it installed.

Can I flash any kit Kat kernel over lollipop BOC4? Or do I have to flash a stock KitKat image too?

If you had safestrap installed you flash a KitKat kernel right over your OC4 to get safestrap to boot up. Before your phone boots all the way up, go into recovery, and flash your ROM. Boot into download mode via safestrap, Odin the corresponding firmware.
I have used flashfire quite a bit to go up and down. The only problem I had is when I was on NGC. Flashfire wouldn't work for me. I'm no expert but this is how I've done it with flashfire.
1. Hit the plus, select firmware, only check boot and recovery.
2. Hit plus, select zip-ota and your ROM ( don't check auto mount)
3. Hit plus, select firmware again, check boot, recovery, modem, firmware. Flashfire will ask if you want them in separate zips, say yes.
4. Hit plus and wipe. Wipe all but SD card).
Arrange like this
1. Wipe
2. Firmware- boot+recovery
3. ROM
4. Firmware- modem+firmware
5. Firmware-boot+recovery
6. EverRoot - inject SuperSU
7. Reboot
I've gone to OA8, OC4, NI2, and NK2 with no problems. I'm getting ready to test NE9 but like I said I had trouble coming from NGC. Try at your own risk.
Edit: Just went from NI2 to NE9 Alliance ROM with no problems

My S5 came with 5.0, I want to root & rom. Do I have the proccess right?

I already tried factory reset via recovery menu. Kept me on 5.0.
1. Use ODIN 3.09 to install a stock 4.42 rom. I downloaded G900VVRU1ANE9_G900VVZW1ANE9_Home_VZW. (Samsung had to be prickly and remove the stock firmware from their site so I'm not positive I got the correct ROM)
2. Use Towelroot to root.
3. Safestrap.
4. Install a ROM.
Finally, I've been outta the game a little while ... Can I run a Kitkat Rom (Carbon) and a Lolipop Rom (Alliance) from the same setup? That is, can I just run safestrap and switch from stock Kitkat to Carbon to Lolipop at a whim, or do I need to do some kernel flashing or other stuff?

You have to downgrade to NGC, not NE9 to root. Find the full Odin tar here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...ment/stock-collection-kernels-modems-t2842069
Root with towelroot
Download SuperSU from play store. Update the binaries and reboot.
Download and install busybox from play store
Install safestrap.

Up to OC4 without using recovery?

I'm going back to nb1 in order to go then up to oc4. The reason is that my soft keys are not working an I was told that if I stay in OC4 they work. The problem also is that my power button doesn't work. I know that I can flash with odin to nb1. Is there a way to update after that up to oc4 without using recovery?
You could use flashfire to flash the oc4 stock rooted rom and go to download mode after flashfire and odin the oc4 bootloader.

Did you uninstall safestrap before you use flashfire?
Do you use the rooted lolli rom mentioned in the guide or the custom lolli rom. If you use custom lolli, is that rom mentioned that it is flashfire compatible?
I understand you are on NC1 bootloader so in order to OC4 working properly, OC4 bootloader need to be flashed via odin.
If you try everything and did not work, go back to NB1 and start from there. Use the NB1 firmware that I mentioned before.

So dude, when I went into download mode, everytime I tried to place that ALLAT&T file into the AP slot, it would cause Odin to freeze and not respond. Naturally, I got angry and decided to reboot into system and magically, I could use the OS again. Now I think I'm going to flash the bootloader like you said

I am sure you did extract the .md5 from the .rar. The latest odin is Version 3.10.7 but I am using version 3.10.6 for that .md5 and it went well too. Try with different odin then.

Wow, NC1 flasher is to use safestrap in lollipop. It only flash the NC1 kernel.
Are you in Kitkat or lollipop. If you were in your lollipop you need to update your lollipop bootloader.
As I said before, if your phone went to softbrick just flash the NB1 firmware via odin.
I swear, you are a legend, an absolute god. The amount of help and experience you have given me, if only I could pay you (I'm 15, so I can't make a PayPal yet) Right now I'm on Albe95's Note 5 port rom.
