solved!!!!!! the lg g5 retail mode issue is solved.............. - LG G5 Guides, News, & Discussion

hi guys !
i have managed to completely get rid off the lg g5 retail mode app the stupid video that starts playing and the password asking app will be completely removed for the g5 ........ actually u will have a complete wipe of data and everything ........
im kinda new to xda postings so i dont know how to give credits but obviously all the work was done by senior members i just managed to put things in order step by step..........
everyone who is facing this issue plz reply so i can post the solution.
and yes all is to be done at your own risk i do not take any responsibility what so ever....

Sorry autoprime as i said im kinda new to posting.....
One of the ppl i wud like to acknowledge is autoprime ....
Anyways guys.
This is what i did.
First of all. You need to download. Two aaps from playstore.
1.system app remover.
2.hidden settings.
With System app remover you can delete the app which is playing the video again and again.
It called. Something like alice tutorial.
After deleting the app no more promotion video will be played.
2.with Hidden settings app you and. Go in the apps tab in settings which is always blocked by retail password otherwise.
And disable the retail mode app temporarily. After which you can. Do all you like with the settings and everything...
This was the temporary solution.
For the permanent solution i followed the directions posted by another senior member for restoring stock firmware to the lg g5 after which i have a completely unlocked european phone.
I again say im new to all this. So plzz auto prime if u can elaborate to everyone in a better way will be helpful .

Rooting wont unlock you from your network, the phone may of already been unlocked anyway but if not (hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong) flash a sim free firmware if your planning on being stock but there is also threads on here about unlocking from the network using the service menu (locks are usually placed on imei numbers as far as I know)
As for deleting system apps, again I have seen a thread on here but I've not done any myself yet but some apps are important to make the phone work fully without getting force closes etc.
Thats about as helpful as I can be at the moment as I havent had the time to get through mine yet removing apps etc

Cant unlock

Total noob, so any and all help very much appreciated. I had an issue with my phone not booting, so after lots of tricks and tips I was still stuck in a bootloop. I ended up finding an image and followed the instructions and voila my phone boots, all be it wiped and needing all apps and such installed. However I soon realized my phone is no longer unlocked. so now I cant use my Straight talk sim card. I need help ASAP if possible and more than willing to compensate anyone who can help me get my phone and txt messaging working again. Im pretty versed in PC stuff, as I work in IT, but I have never done any phone moding or flashing until now, so detailed explanations would be great, or if needed we can link up using a remote software program or FB. Thanks!

Correct me if I'm wrong your looking for a way to unlock from carrier not bootloader.... If that is the case look here (can't tell you if it works big red is the only one that seems to work where I spend most of my time)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=60690666
If your looking for bootloader unlock it make not be possible depending on software ver and kernel... If you want to look into it I would start here

I hope that points you in the right direction... The general portion for our phone has a lot of great information

Meabrams, thanks for your reply but I am not sure what I need at this point. Not sure by what you mean by "big red", is that another site? I wish I could explain to somone over the phone what is going on, but have no resources to contact for this kind of help. I did to the process listed in the link: Tutorial] Unlock ALL bands on xt907 (moto_msm8960) with no success. I will check out the other post and see if I get any further. Any assistance or help you may know of is much appreciated. Im hoping to transfer my phone to temporary straight talk phone until this is fixed, just hope I dont have to send it off to someone.
Edit....Ok my device is rooted (dont know for sure but I have super user installed (full version of SU)) and I can play apps that are not Google approved. I tried the Motopocalypse and cant get any further. Does it matter what version of Android i have? currently this phone is on 4.4.2 BUT I dont really care if it stays on that version...Do I /Can I go back to the 4.1 version I had before? I believe it was the stock version of the phone's android system by not positive as i bought this phone unlocked. I would contact the seller but they have disappeared from ebay.

Flashing Firmware via Fastboot
You mentioned you are stucked at the initial setup screen. This implies that you need to reflash the stock ROM. Please visit this link to read my post containing instructables to successfully flash stock ROM.
Q. Can I unlock bootloader?
No. As of KDA 20.62 15.1 update, the Trust Zone vulnerability has been fixed which allowed exploit to work.
Q. Can I root?
Yes! Head to this thread to root (install SU) on your RAZR.
Q. Can I downgrade?
Unfortunately no! You are stucked permanently with the Kitkat flavour.
US GSM Carrier Unlock
The method is fairly long but easy. Head to the thread here to unlock US GSM carriers which will allow you use Straight Talk.

Hey,
I posted this topic a week or so ago with the same problem. We're somewhat on to something... we just need someone with a working phone to get the firmware by using their IMEI number in SmartSwitch. If you know anyone else who has the phone, it'd be awesome if you can ask them give that a go.

I had my phone [SM-G530T1] rooted with TWRP before bricking it with Xposed. Is it possible you can provide us with the stock firmware from your phone using Samsung SmartSwitch or provided us with the S/N for we can do it ourselves. Do you need the method I used to root my GP?
i have my imei

Wait no don't do that !! It won't work people have already tried don't even try bro !
I have created a solution!
I have a fix to get the SM-G530T1 [Galaxy Grand Prime - MetroPCS] working after a soft brick. Back up and running making/receiving calls/texts, but Wi-Fi is not working and my device starts off in recovery. Still need to test out everything else though. Also, the settings say Galaxy Core Prime now meaning everything in the ABOUT DEVICE section will be altered until we have a firmware for our device to download. I used TrapKernel from ShinySide, the provided TWRP for the SM-G530H, and some files from both firmwares of the SM-G360T1 and SM-G530T devices.
Anyway, using ODIN, put the .tar file in the AP slot and flash your phone...GOOD LUCK!
Sorry, I am still too new to post external links. Contact me through other means and I will provide the file until I am allowed to share it here on XDA.
i tired

Would this help?....

Well there is easy way to root the phone it takes like 5 mins. It is free and stress free, what I did was use kingroot. Now the most people are not doing there homework, so they end up FRP locking there mobile device. Shame on you nubs, don't skip corners. See the (FRP) factory reset protection is google's doing. They make it harder for would be phone thefts. In the same sequence they made it almost so easy to brick your mobile device. By rooting your phone through kingroot, your mobile device will work until you reboot it. Once you reboot it, you trigger the (FRP) lock and then you are stuck with a bricked device. Now (FRP) lock is on every android 5.0 OP system and higher. What they don't tell you is that when you reboot and or factory reset your device. It automaticlly trips it. If you call samsung they will tell you bring it to best buy and they will help you. This is not true samsung can't do anything cause google is the one behind the (FRP) lock. Now google will ask you to wait 72 hours. Which is also wrong, smart switch, kiers, odin ,nothing will help you. The trick is simple, understanding the (FRP) lock is key. Disable the lock by deleting your google account. Now you might ask your self if i disable my google account how will I download the king root app. That is why first and for most, you download the app and run it. Once you rooted your phone use one of the hundreds of root verify apps to make sure your device is rooted. Now DON'T reboot your phone! Go to you account and delete your google account ,failing to do this will trigger (FRP) lock. Once the google account is deleted, reboot your phone. Now when the phone restarts you will have a rooted phone . Sign back in to google and you will be ready to go. Keep in mind also, I have seen countless people not even trying to root there phone have the same issues with the all black screen (FRP) lock. Just cause they factor rested there device, this will also trigger the lock. So keep that in mind anytime you want to factory reset sign out of google account before you do or same thing will happened, and once it locks your screwed. Now also keep in mind if you rooted your phone and you experienced a (FRP) lock at the moment. You are holding on to a bricked mobile device cause by rooting your phone you killed your warranty. That suck's but for all you nubs out there stop cutting corners do your home work, or pay the price.

Spring LG V20

Hey everyone, was wondering if the Sprint variant of the LG V20 has been rooted yet? If so, can you direct me to the link that tells me what to do? I would google it myself, or search these forums myself, but this military network I'm on makes it tough. As it is, this page is all wonkey looking when viewing it from the military network.
EDIT: just noticed the title of the post says Spring...that's a mis-spell, it's supposed to be Sprint. LOL
Definitely not easy at the moment!

Yes, the device is root-able
Follow Dirty Santa ,
At the point where it says to download the stock sprint rom, come over to my thread {Rom} LS997 as thats for the sprint V20,
Download the version of the rom you think fits best, Im using version 5.5 " L " and its liquid smooth, good battery life, no random Fc.
still working on some decent mods to add but its the basics with all the bloat gone, and a ton of tweaks and built in mods to make it run as good as it should.
Just read everthing in both op's 1st and get a good idea before starting. You will need a pc with fastboot and adb setup to do the dirty santa half, one you get into twrp you wont need pc anymore.
If youve downloaded the latest update, you mise well install it and get that out of the way as it will cause twrp loops if its downloaded and not installed yet. that or delete it using twrp and my HELP me post further down in the thread
Good luck!

And if you get stuck in a bootloop of twrp recovery - you just need to do the battery pull, hold vol down, power button, trick.

but I don't think there is another way,

The very same phone, P9 Lite. I had been looking everywhere for a free option to gain bootloader code - to no avail. The last chance was through sign-up list floating here on the forum somewhere around the start of September - but it is no longer accessible. I'm afraid gaining the code is now only possible through paid services.
At first I thought I need Paypal account or $/EUR account so I can use DC unlocker but there is an app on Google Play that charges you in your local currency to provide login and pass for their desktop service app. It was something around 4 EUR, it's more than 4 beers here in Poland but the procedure is quite simple.
The difficulty level goes up when you finally unlock the bootloader... I'm still struggling with altering my hosts in a systemless way so that my SafetyNet remains passed, OP should reconsider whether he really needs that root
