[Q] installing a custom kitkat rom on a lollipop custom rom(I9500) - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
i'm rocking the awesome Ale95 Milestone V4
big thanks for the dev and awesome work
now i'm planning to install a custom kitkat rom will i face any problem? like missing imei/wi-fi?
the rom will be uncharted v9
thanks in advance

you shouldn't face any problems, it's only trying to downgrade official roms (which will come with a bootloader) that causes issues. that said having a backup of your efs folder is never a bad thing. there are apps that can do that for you.

i backed my efs folder with the Philz Recovery is that ok?

that's OK but it will only be restorable in Philz, if you plan to switch recoveries in future restore it before you make the change.

I highly recommend TWRP as CWM/Philz is no longer being updated.

[Q] Confused with different Bobcat Roms?

Hi guys
I just have a few questions, sorry for being a total noob.
I have the following build JSS15J.N9500XXUBMJ1
I have already rooted by phone with Odin and backe up my stuff.
I want to flash the Bobcat Rom, but unsure which one to use since there is 2 and i am unsure which one to use
[SM-N9005][NOTE3][KitKat 4.4.2][XXUENB4]_BoBCaTROM_EVO_v6.0
[SM-N9005][NOTE3][XXUDMK2]_BoBCaTROM_EVO_v3.0
which is the right one or will either one work, but has different features.
Flash Stock firmware with Odin
==> INSTRUCTIONS TO FLASH 4.2.2 OFFICIAL FIRMWARE <==
4. Flash CWM Recovery kitkat compatible (Thx @Chenglu ==> http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2454079)
will the bootloader be upgraded to 4.4?
is it possible to leave the bootloader update?
if so, can i still install the bobcat rom on the stock bootloader?
5. Boot to recovery, and Install BoBCaTROM with Full Wipe
Is it necessary to full wipe the note 3 when installing the bobcat rom?
Thnaks guys and i hope you guys can answer my silly question

MJ1 means 4.3. Flash v3.0. V4 and above are for 4.4.2 bootloader only.
Clean install is advised to avoid any issue later.

thank you for assisting me, but which CWM version should i use. i already rooted the note with CWM v6.0.4.4 (20131011) by Xiaolu
Can i use this one currently on my phone or do i need a later version
Root your device and install a custom recovery... IMPORTANT! flash procedure tested only with latest CWM made by Chenglu.

One last question.
Is Xposed framework and active modules build into the bobcat rom?
Also the same with Wanamaker Xposed?
I also notice that I can flash my own theme in recovery with stock or universal if I am correct.
Does the battery icon have to be done separately.
- Install Xposed framework and active modules (BoBCaTROM Control)
- Choose your Advanced settings by Wanam Xposed

Xposed framework provided but can't remember what modules included. You can however download modules from the framework itself.
You can choose whether to install stock samsung theme or bobcat theme.
Og battery mode included with >70 styles

GT-I9515 Kernel question

Hello i need some input and help
I bought a new galaxy s4 value edition gt-i9515
So cusom recovery root and roms work
Recovery and rom only without touch and radio
Used cwn and rom from 9505.
So i think its a kernel issue...
As the device came with kitkat and i,m migrated from mtk platform where its possible to create twrp touch with stock kernel my question is there anything similar cause cwn from 9505 works not well (after restore i had to full wipe cause everthing fc, s)
Also i know that i have to repack a kk kernel for every rom version slimkat cwm stock...
Or has this changed?
So my thoughts i take the stock kk kernel and repack it to work with slimkat and my touch problems have gone.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I have both kernel but no pc and don't know how to repack.
So is her someone who can help me out
The better solution would be to add support for i9515 to some custom kernel but quick and dirty repack would do.
Thanks alot

help with back up

hi dev
i have a note 3 sm-n9005 with philz touch 6 recovery i made a fulk backup (i want to install a custom rom) and it was 7 gb
i am a new to android rooting and stuff so i want help to backup only the stok kernel + the stock software (4.4.2) i dont want to back up my apps that i installed only stock things. i found custom backup in my recovery but i didnt know what to choose please help and thank you very much

i9506; is there a 4.4.x TouchWiz ROM that can be flashed from recovery?

I'm currently running CM 11 nightlies and have a custom recovery on my i9506, but would love to play around with the stock ROM. The thing is it's a pain to use other programs to "factory restore" the device (erasing the custom recovery, having to work out how to root it again, stripping out a bit of bloat/knox).
Do you guys know if anyone's released a flashable .zip of the stock 4.4.x TouchWiz ROM which is pre-rooted, knox removed and ready to tweak?
I would ask in the i9506 forum but I don't want to clutter it with non-ROM threads.
Thanks guys.

Installing Cloudy G2 3.0 on Stock Lollipop

Dear All,
I have raised my query in ROM and ROMs Q&A thread, but it was not answered and i was eagerly waiting to flash this ROM..
I have LG G2 F320k and I am running stock lollipop, and i have managed to root it and then I installed TWRP recovery by installing F320_lp.apk and then i have made nandroid backup.. now i dont know the version of twrp installed and secondly the nandroid backup is not showing up in my SD card
My important question is,, can i install cloudy 3.0 in this situation, as i am on lollipop or should i install any JB or kitkat bootloader.. please guide me so that i can get rid of korean apps and enjoy the features of Cloudy,. Thanks
