SD Card - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just unlocked bootloader and installed TWRP and root etc. on MXP all working.
SD card is now not seen by phone and not when connected to pc by cable. Card works in pc and moto g 2014.
Sandisk Extreme 32GB
I've searched but cannot find anything.
Thanks in advance.
Just tried connecting it using an OTG + adapter and it is recognized but still not when in the SD holder in the phone????
25/4
Still no fix. Factory data reset. Reformatted SD card to exFAT. Still not seen.????
Can't see this as a hardware problem. Please, anyone...

Phone sent to repairer in Manchester (UK) who said they could fix it; had it for nearly a month. Finally said it was not repairable. Sent it back boot looping and flat battery. I managed with fastboot to restore stock ROM then rooted again. So now it is as before, working correctly but no SD card recognition. The pins in the reader look unbent.
Do I give up on this?? Is there a software fix or command I can try? Mainboard damage?
It all seemed to happen when I unlocked rooted etc.

Estoy igual , ayudaaa

[Q] Is my Legend bricked or f**ked?

Hi!
A couple of days ago, my Legend started to act weird, I tried to install a new nightly-build (CM), but they never worked. I always had to roll back to CM RC2.
Now, about a day after that, I could no longer access my pictures on my phone. I rebooted it, and it said that my SD-card was corrupt, and that I had to format it. I connected the phone to my computer via USB, and it asked me to either scan and repair the SD-card, or continue without scanning. What I noticed, was that the sound Windows makes when you connect or disconnect a USB-device to a comp kept repeating. Like; disconnected. connected. disconnected. connected.
I couldn't transfer files or anything, since halfway in, it would disconnect, and the transfer would stop.
Now, when I used the SD-card in an adapter and connected to the computer directly, I encountered no problems at all. I could transfer freely, format the card, whatever.
I tried using another card, but my Legend kept telling me it was corrupted. When I tried for the 3rd or 4th time, the phone just said there wasn't an SD-card inserted at all, and when I connect the phone via USB, Windows is stating it doesn't recognize the device...
Is my Legend bricked? I flashed it to an unrooted stock-ROM in case I have to hand it in to service, but I want to know if it's something I can fix myself, or if it's actually broken.. The USB-thing could be a brick I guess, but the SD-card thingy?
Btw, I live in a very cold country, and sometimes my phone is really cold when I pull it from my pockets, maybe that was the source? :/ I dunno..
TL;DR - My Legend suddenly stopped recognizing my SD-card, and finally didn't read the SD-cards at all. My Windows started telling me it didn't recognize the device inserted into the USB-port whenever I connected the Legend.
Thanks, folks!

Thanks! But I see this;
"You must be rooted to try the following, it seems you can't write to mtd0 without root."
I just unrooted in case I had to turn it in. Since it won't read my SD-cards, there's no possibility for me to root it again, I think :/
i dont know how the brick exactly worked but there may be a chance to root again.
try to make your microsd to a goldcard again and look if its working, the chance is pretty low but at least its worth a try. (i know this sounds paradox)

I guess that could work, but to make a goldcard I have to run some commands through adb, and my Windows cannot recognize the USB-device inserted.. :/
Or you just try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=757191

Thanks! But again; I'll need to connect through USB and run adb, which won't work :/ Bah..
Yup.. you are screwed.. phone is no good no more..
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
I had a same problem "and when I connect the phone via USB, Windows is stating it doesn't recognize the device..." and device was urooted but i fixed sd with this:
Also, SD card functionality has to work. For this, go into fastboot mode ( device off : volume down + power, select FASTBOOT) , and do:
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
then install this via the sd card + sdcard reader for root rights and unbrick over terminal emulator! worked for me!

USB goes ballistic and internal storage SD card greyed out after connecting to win7.

When I plug my nook into my laptop it 'briefly' enters USB mode, and then drops it and the drives. It then tries to go back into USB mode, and basically does this repeatedly until it gives up The nook is basically unusable during this and keeps flashing with the usb mode and normal home screen. After this happens, both the Nook internal storage and SD card are greyed out in settings, reading "unavailable", and the SD card cannot be accessed and is not detected in any way. What gives?
Is this a windows problem, a nook software problem, or a hardware problem? I'm not sure if this happened before I rooted, since I basically just took a backup and rooted as soon as I had it out of the christmas wrapping.

Can you please try to connect it to the pc without the sd-card inserted?
Have you tried reloading the original firmware?

The same thing happens when connecting without the SD card. I haven't tried reloading the original firmware yet but I first really noticed it happening after I did a full backup with NookManager on 1.0.1. That was when I could not get it to stay in usb mode long enough to copy the 1.1 update zip into the directory. The only way I was able to get it in was I 'tried' doing the 6 hard resets where I tried holding down shut down 6 times in a row (but nothing special happened so I thought nothing happened). And then I restarted windows and it seemed to work, for a while anyway, until I rooted. I wonder if that had to do with restarting windows or restarting the nook a couple dozen times. lol
The changes I've made so far to my nook ST:
1.0.1 backup with noogy
1.0.1 backup with nookmanager
1.1 manually update
1.1 root with touchnooter
I rooted 3 times in a row because the first time none of the apps worked
multi touch kernal with CWM
then I switched to
OC kernel with fast mode
lots of software additions and tweaks like legacy launcher, wallpaper changer, ES file explorer, adb wifi
Static IMEI mod
Whatsapp verification/install
So besides the USB problem it's kicking ass at this point . I really hope I don't have to restore to original firmware or return it for hard ware problems. So I can confirm this is not a usual occurrence? Let me test it on some other computers to see if it's my laptop...
UPDATE: I started windows in safe mode and it had no problems whatsoever connecting to the nook as it should, and the nook didn't go nuclear either. So I suspect it's some drivers or software relating to virtual disks that is conflicting with the nook, or something else enigmatic. What a pain..

[Q] USB Port Charges but no sync/detection by PC.

hi guys, just to say that i read and have been reading for almost 2 weeks now on everything i could find and seems no one has been able to fix.
Some threads go on for 4 pages and then it turns out to be the cable etc which i found fustrating as surely should of have checked cable first before posting.
Anyhow, my usb stopped working randomly, it charges fine but doesnt connect to computer what so ever, as if i never plug it in. If i do plug in a OTG cable to the phone it says usb connected and then disappears.
What i've done so far after countless hours of reading.
- Replaced USB connector with new part
- Reflashed a stock rom with mobile Odin pro
- Flashed PURE Google Rom 4.3 pre rooted with TWRP,
- installed CWM Phillz touch revocovery over TWRP
- Tried phone on 3 different computers all with kies and drivers installed, no luck.
- Tried many different cables
- Tried other samsung phones with those cables on all pc's work fine.
- Updated kernel via odin
- Tried to boot without micro SD card inserted etc.
Is there anything else that i missed? Anything else you could suggest? maybe i put the wrong rom on? possibly a PIT error?
bear in mind phones warranty is VOID untill i can get the USB working again. or even maybe because i replaced the usb connector my self if they can tell i opened the phone then also void.

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the super late reply as I was doing donkey hours at work due to colleagues not turning up.
Eitherway, I tried that solution for me and that was also a no go. Mount unsuccessful for the error iirc.
Would it help to say that i used to connect my external hdd to the phone previously and used to do so with a OTG cable and when the phone didn't read my hdds because they were ntfs i used a program called stickmount pro and others, possibly could it be that those programs caused an error?
Also i have come to realize that my memory card has now been corrupted and I can't read some of the data on it while in the phone or while using an external card reader.
Could this possibly be anything to do with the PIT? As that's the only thing I think I havnt been able to do?

[help] Huawei Ascend G740 in reboot loop

Hello, my g740 was working normally, yesterday I did put a sim card in it and it went in reboot loop even once removed.
I don't mind doing a factory reset except I saw sometime it removes data from internal sd card too, any way I can recover files from it before ? Maybe recuva would work though.
I don't have a micro sd card nor a usb adapter to connect a usb key (not sure it would help anyway), all I have is my PC to connect it in usb.
Please help me I'm sure you can help even if you don't know that phone (it's on android 4 and system recovery is 3e) thanks :crying:

Wiped H1511 - can't transfer files anymore

Hi, looking for some 2nd thoughts on this before I throw this phone away. I got this Nexus 6P a year ago and put purenexus into it along with TWRP, everything was going great. Had an issue with a car charger, the charger port heated up badly and I couldn't charge it. After messing around with it I finally got it to charge but not rapidly (no big deal). Now I tried to upgrade the purenexus version and had some booting issues. So I tried to mess around with the versions and in the process I accidentally wiped the data on the phone. Now the charger port charges but I cannot connect to the PC (as in nothing detected in device manager, no sound of plugnplay or anything). I cannot boot to transfer files with the wifi because there is nothing to boot to. 6P has not ext SD port so I cant put files in. TWRP has also a sideload on the install version but ADB doesnt see the device in any state (obviously if the pc doesnt see it). Finally, I figure I just had to change the charger port so I ordered a new port, put it in and same thing. Phone charges but not detected by any PC. I don't think there's another way to put a rom image on the internal SD but if there is I am all ears.

Hi... Seems like you already tried all the available options. How about bootloader? Is the phone detected? Try to reboot in bootloader and issue: fastboot devices
If your phone is recognized, you can try installing a factory image.
Just in case, download last adb/fastboot version from Google directly:
