How do I get fee free data tethering w/o Xposed? I do have it rooted! - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

EDIT: Problem solved! I was using v2.7 linked in an obscure youtube video. I used 3.0 and now it's all working just fine.
AT&T - The Xposed installer says when I open the framework says "Xposed is not (yet) compatabile Android SDK version 22 or the processor architecture (arm64-v8a)." I cant install the framework with means I cant use the Xposed tether app.

Not necessarily so, ability to tether can be controlled by the carrier. On a stock phone it is quite possible that the ability to tether is restricted depending on the your terms of service.

Yes, but this phone is NOT carrier branded. Shouldn't it work regardless if the carrier has a tethering option? Daughter's phone is not rooted. Uses a Verizon Sim card. Has unlimited data. She can tether her tablet to phone without issues....

The Moto X Pure stock firmware will not allow me to tether either. It says my plan does not support tethering. However on the Moto G 3rd gen, it does not seem to do this check, and tethering works fine. Unless it has to do with the SIM, since the G3 uses a micro, and the X uses nano.

Security Vulnerability in Tapatalk

This is a simple proof of concept, this apk retrieves your login credentials in plaintext for Android Forums from the tapatalk demo application. It was not designed for the pro nor the XDA versions, but this method may work on those versions as well. This application has been confirmed to work on MotoDroid (cyanogenmod6) and Droid Eris (various custom roms).
This application does not require root access at all. Just requires demo version of tapatalk, and previously logged into android forums).

*UPDATE* Removed file for now. This appears to be a two part vulnerability. First part being a permissions issue on some custom roms. Second is total lack of securing credentials on Tapatalk's part.
i can confirm this!!!
Yeah ...this works
yea it works. shows all my log info.
Yeah... shows everything....

This thread is nearly 2 years old, so I doubt you'll get a response. Also, since xda has a working friendship with the TapaTalk team I don't think discussion of hacking their software is appropriate. With that in mind I'll close this thread so it stops now.

But there are several different ones, based on your software level. You have to use the right one.

But Native Hotspot should work, right? I have Stock MJA
It should work if you're paying for it. But if you want it free, you need to be rooted and install the correct free wifi mod from your first link.

Yes I did this steps
1st Root
2nd services.jar + services.odex in /system/framework
3rd change chameleon_tethereddata = 3
4rd restart and doesn't work T_T
FWIW. My phone is at 4.3/MJA, stock ROM, rooted, with just a few mods, like the free wifi tether one. Works great on my phone. I did not do your steps 2 or 3. After installing 4.3, I just installed root using the Chainfire Autoroot method and pulled down the wifi tether mod from your first link in your first post in this thread.

I've recently come across a weird issue with both Galaxy S4 devices on my account. One is running a custom ROM (Goldeneye 18.1) and the other is stock rooted mf3. I have had no trouble accessing sites with either phone until today. i tried to get on icontact.com (email marketing site). I get the same error on both phones:

I've tried various browsers with the same basic results. I've tried the icontact app (which worked b4) and it claims that I'm not connected to the internet. I've tried on Wi-Fi and 4g lte. Other sites work fine. Friends and family have been able to connect to the same sites on their phones with no problem. I tried clearing cache/cookies/history. I tried formatting my phone and clean flashing this ROM. Nothing I've tried seems to work. I'm at a loss as to what this could be. Is there some simple thing that I'm overlooking?

I think GoldenEye has ad-blocking built-in. There should be a flashable zip to remove it. Or, you can directly edit /system/etc/hosts to remove the offending entries. I'm not sure why a stock rooted phone would be blocking it too. I can pull up the site fine on CM 11.
EDIT: You can remove all the lines from the hosts file except leave "127.0.0.1 localhost".
Thank you. I installed adfree on the stock rooted. I'm not sure why that site would be blocked by the hosts file but i guess it was. I'll edit it manually later.

How to remove "This SIM card is from an unknown source"

Im on Stock NC4 firmware and i get this message "This SIM card is from an unknown source".
How to get rid of this message because i use a different sim and im rooted.
Go to notifications in the pull down menu... press and hold the notification until you see "app info". Click that then click "force stop". This pops up every time you restart your phone so this is one way to get rid of it.

Another option is to use Xposed Framework and the NotifyClean module. I use it to hide the ongoing notification for my Gear watch.

Which Sim card did you get from straight talk? ATT, T-MO, or VZW?
I have the VZW Sim card. I tried the ATT Sim carf only had 4G no lte b/c n900v can not support att's bands. I tried T-MO Sim super fast lte speeds but I had horrible coverage. I now have the VZW Sim excellent coverage but lte speeds are capped at 5.5.

Welcome to the club, we all need that, so we need to find a root for it or so some one that can tell us how to wifi tether..
rooting
Try towelroot .. to root just Google it
Towelroot doesn't work with the ZMAX. There are 2 threads here in General that are all about rooting the ZMAX--it can be done but it's not exactly a 1-click process.
Kingroot will temp root, Android forums has directions on how to make perm root

How to wifi tether ZTE Zmax android 4.4.4
This is my first time ever posting any thing like this so please bear with me. And I do not take cred for those who created the apps needed for this project.
First you must root the phone using KingRoot
Next you will need wifi tether 3.3.beta 2
Setting the wifi
1) Go into your settings and change your device profile:
(wlan0)
2) change your set-up method:
Netd-Ndc (master)
3) wifi driver reload 1
[X]
4) enable access controls
[X]
5) Routing fix
[X]
6) Disable Update check & Wake lock
[X] [X]
And there you go. Should work with laptops ps3's ps4's etc
No root

If I remember correctly the plans 40,50and 60 dollars get hotspot service with the plan. If your device is compatible.
