[TUTORIAL][MEIZU] unlock bootloader, root, install xposed, custom rom for all meizu

Meizu comes with locked bootloader and it's vulnerability is not found for root.
So kingroot can also not root these devices
But with flyme(yun os) account you can get system privileges (root)
Another issue is for Some firmware there is no access to flyme account
"mzaccount" named app present in system apps which can be opened by nova activity like function of apps (use nova launcher, or lmt activity(lmt app then set activity mzaccont to open)
Then register your account Then go to option then tick the system privileges to get root
Just after selecting the system privileges device reboots do not afraid
After that you can give root permission to apps
Anyway second good news...
On meizu phones you can use xposed framework (apps )
You need an update.zip(firmware) in outermost part of your internal =sdcard/update.zip(better if you check it and install through recovery; first time)
Choose arm64 xposed framework for 64 bit phones like m2 note/mini
Then install your xposed framework (flash using flashfire apk by chainfire ; it may take upto 30 minute to complete in *black* screen don't afraid).
Before installation xposed you should wipe dalvik chache and chache.
When your device booted you may see app optimization starting again and again but don't worry it'll be completed.Complete installation and boot to system may take upto 1 hour so keep patience.
If you stuck in bootloop(just in case) then swich off for 15 seconds and reboot recovery and update through recovery.
I'm not responsible if any bad happens to you.
Don't delete update.zip(firmware). Put it as /sdcard/update.zip forever.(who knows when will you stuck in bootloop)
Don't flash rom with flashfire.

Remember by unlocking bootloader your all files(in internal) and data+ apps will be cleared
Things you'll need
1. Unlock script + recovery
(a) for meizu m2here
(b) for mx4
(C) for m1 note
2. Auto adb driver installer here
3. adb+key.exe here
4. Minimal adb and fastboot here
5. Apps- busybox free,terminal emulator ,super su

THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH MEIZU USERS IF THEY SEEING A LONG BOOT TIME THEN HORRIFICALLY SOMETIMES THEY CAN NOT BOOT TO RECOVERY OR FASTBOOT BUT TRY WITH COOL MIND IT'LL BE DONE :laugh:
Don't afraid if you seeing bootloop let it complete
Time expected
1. for setting up driver and adb 10 minutes
2. for su binary update 5 minute
3. for install busybox 3 minutes
4. after unlocking bootloader may take time upto 2 hours in bootloop
5. in meizu boot animation takes upto 25 minutes
keep in mind
1. Try not to modify too deeply .
2. Tick usb debugging.
3. Try not to flash Rom or recovery on meizu devices without unlocking bootlaoder and deep knowledge.
4. Don't install xposed framework if you are not aware of risk .
5. Don't give file explorers root for always .
6. Don't try to delete system apps only freeze .
7. Flyme os/yun os is heavily modified Rom so don't need other theming or modification.

Not tested but you can try ....
If flash Gordon not works then try flashfire"app.
Flash fire takes sometime 1 hour for flashing
Don't forget to put update.zip firmware in the root of sdcard

It will work on any meizu mobile ..no matters its locked or unlocked bootloader ...but dont try to use deep theming apps neither you'll face bootloop. If you face any type of bootloop (wait 30 minutes) then update the firmware through the native/stock flyme recovery

Hello guys, please i need help on reviving my meizu m2 note. It is stuck in bootloop after trying to install Xposed Framework. The boot up is just stuck in the FLYME LOGO. The major problem now is that the phone fails to enter RECOVERY MODE else i would have wiped data/cache or even flash UPDATE.ZIP. The phone enters fastboot mode though but the bootloader is locked so, i cant flash anything via fastboot mode.
Please, help me out.

I had encountered many problems while flashing the latest weekly ROMS and will like to share what worked for me.
Right now, there is no Global Developer ROM for Redmi 3, thus we will have to survive with China Developer ROM (which is better).
What is the difference between Global Developer ROM and China Developer ROM?
The difference is the China Developer ROM has no GApps (but we can flash it easily), but you get the quickest Weekly Updates (every Friday, around 0200 GMT), and it also comes in English (only English, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional available). The China Developer ROM also includes many Chinese bloatware which you can freeze using ROM Toolbox Lite or others.
Will I be able to get OTA after rooting and having TWRP Recovery?
No, you will be able to download and your phone will try to install it.... unsuccessfully and will request for you to download the full ROM.
After updating is root still available?
No, you will have to re-root.
I thought the China Developer ROM have a root option out of the box?
Yes, there is a root option under the Security -> Permissions, but it is a limited root. Adaway will not work. You can't freeze some system apps as well. It is a useless root.
STEP 1 - Install China Developer ROM
a. You need to be on China Developer ROM first. If you are on Global Stable ROM then you need to install China ROM and then you can install China Developer ROM.
b. Google "redmi 3 china developer rom", and choose the first link.
Download the China Stable ROM. Install it using Updater app in your Redmi. Press the 3 dots on the top right to choose the file you downloaded.
c. After installing that, go back download the latest Beta ROM (updated weekly) and install it.
d. Now you will be in China Developer ROM.
STEP 2 - Unlock Bootloader
a. Go to the MIUI Unlock site.
b. Login using facebook (easier)
c. You will be asked for your phone number which Xiaomi will send a SMS with a code for verification.
d. You will be asked for a reason to unlock bootloader. Just type something like "Phone bricked and stuck in bootloop."
e. After a few days (it took 2 days in my case), Xiaomi will send you a SMS letting you know that you have been approved.
f. Install MiFlash Unlock
g. Login to your Mi account on your phone. (Mi Account app)
h. Go into Fastboot mode. (Power off, then hold Volume Down + Power till you enter Fastboot mode).
i. Connect phone to PC. Open MiFlash Unlock, login, and press unlock.
j. After 10 seconds, your bootloader is unlocked.
STEP 3 - Install TWRP (Cofface Edition)
a. You can install the official TWRP but it will require some editing of some files. There is a modded TWRP which has made it easier without any editing. Search for "REDMI 3 TWRP Cofface" on the MIUI forum
b. It comes with a *.bat file which means once you open it, the script will install and reboot the recovery automatically.
c. Boot into Fastboot mode, connect to PC, and click the *.bat file. After it works its magic you will be rebooted into TWRP, in Chinese.
d. Swipe right (warning that you will have the power to edit system files).
e. To change language, 3rd button down, right row.
f. When you wish to exit, swipe the big button on the bottom to disable recovery going back to stock, thus keeping TWRP.
STEP 4 - Install Gapps
a. There's two methods. Flashing Open GApps in TWRP or installing an app called Google Installer (download from MIUI forum) which will download the required files and install it. Installing with the app, I encountered many Play Store error (like unable to connect to Play Store). I recommend flashing the first method.
b. Download from GAPPS official siteChoose Platform: ARM64, Android: 5.1. The Pico variant will work fine.
c. Power off. Hold Volume Up + Power Button. You will get into a menu with Chinese words. Press the button that has the word "recovery".
d. Flash Gapps, and remember to Wipe Cache afterwards.
e. Restart and you will have Play Store etc. on your phone.
STEP 5 - Root (with SuperSU)
a. Download the zip file from the official Chainfire site.
b. Boot into TWRP
c. Flash SuperSU, Wipe cache, Reboot
d. Rooted
STEP 6 - Updating ROM Weekly
a. Download the latest beta ROM. You need the full ROM (which is typically 900MB and above).
b. Go to TWRP, flash the ROM, wipe cache, flash Gapps (or you won't be able to connect to Play Store), wipe cache, flash SuperSU (because flashing the ROM removes root), wipe cache. Reboot.

[GUIDE] Root using Magisk, keep stock recovery for OTA

This is a guide for people who want a rooted MIUI. It will keep stock recovery and system partitions untouched to allow MIUI OTAs to install without problems. It will also pass Google's safety net test so bank apps keep working. The best of both worlds really
Requirements:
- Unlocked bootloader
- Windows PC
- fastboot (present in the miunlock app folder)
- Latest TWRP (download here)
- Latest Magisk (download here)
Steps:
- Install latest Magisk app
- Put latest Magisk zip on your device storage (SD)
- Shut down device
- put latest twrp.img in miunlock folder
- Connect phone to PC
- Press volume down and power button to boot to fastboot mode
- Open "Command Prompt" on your PC
- Type: (without quotes)
----- "cd C:\Users\[your name]\Desktop\miflash_unlock-en-2.3.803.10" . (or wherever the folder is)
----- "fastboot devices"
----- "fastboot boot twrp.img"
- In a few seconds, TWRP will boot on your phone. DO NOT swipe to make changes to system.
- In TWRP, flash the Magisk zip
Enjoy root

Same as my question. Let say system partition won't touch by root, but twrp is installed over the Mi stock recovery. Will it install Eta?

This guide DOES NOT flash TWRP. Stock recovery remains so OTA updates work.
The only thing that is touched by this guide is the "Boot" partition to install magisk. You can restore stock "Boot" using magisk manager's uninstall option at any moment and be 100% stock again.

Just a quick question. I've TWRP right now with SuperSU. So I'll remove SuperSU, flash Magisk in TWRP. All good till now, but I'd want the stock recovery, a flash-able zip maybe. How can I get it? From where?

Do you mean this?
When an OTA is available, please go to Magisk Manager → Uninstall → Restore Images. Do not reboot immediately or you will have Magisk uninstalled. This will restore your boot (or dtbo if available) back to 100% untouched stock images in order to pass verifications. This step is required before doing any of the following steps written below!

it was rooted before. used twrp and some custom roms. but later it unrooted somehow.
I tried flashing super su, magisk and ioroot. supersu and magisk turn with an error msg
io root made it stuck on bootloader animation so I flashed a backup.
how to root it?

2) made absolutely all wipes incl internal and data (delete all stuff) - then reboot into twrp
3) connect to usb - and simply copy rom, gapps, and root solution what you want to flash
latest stable magisk for twrp - https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
latest supersu for twrp - Recovery Flashable.zip http://www.supersu.com/download
3) flash the rom what you wanted and flash gapps
3) flash magisk or supersu
(if android 7.1.2 or higher of course - I recommend magisk, because of working nfc pay features, a lot of great systemless addons etc...)
if you prefer old lollipop rom (for example CloudyG2_3.3 ) - it supersu only.
This is the correct sequence - which will eliminate problems with the firmware. If you deleted and installed the root earlier (as you say)

jeezes)) you already killed the rom.... and then restore the all this restores backup, this is a "dirty flash" with a bunch of "remnants". I recommend to do clean flash it in the specified sequence and everything will be ok.
You will spend a couple of 1-2 hours only on installing (and setting) completely all applications. It is not so difficult. But it will save you from a bunch of nonsense questions...
If you actually don't have TWRP recovery installed or old Kit kat Rom - this is absolutely another question and the instructions will not work for you. Also, Kit Kat and Lollipop based ROMs does not support Magisk - because of this error.

thx bro. I did all the steps but it seems same problem going on. sure I want the latest of everything. better updated all. so, using the latest twrp, I wipe all data then format all data then again wipe everything
this aosp rom and gapps worked perfectly. then flashed teh magisk but again its unrooted.
it installs magisk perfectly but root checker says its not rooted. anyway thx for help
btw, aosp rom android 9 has a bluetooth bug. giving a bluetooth stopped message every 10 seconds.

so any advice anout that problem?

you must grant root permission when popup (magisk) appears.
its not automatically
popup similar as in supersu
root works excellent on d802 with Magisk
for example Es File Explorer or any Root Checker

because latest pie rom has bugs and not stable

I used supersu and it turned out to be "certification verify" problem. OS not running because of this problem but says rooted. so I can still reach twrp but it really become annoying. this is my old phone and will use as 2nd in my Thailand trip soon.

2) flash gapps nano
3) flash magisk zip
4) after rom starts - do the first quick settings - then open Magisk (and if needed update the Magisk manager)
Do not flash both (supersu and magisk) risk to brick the phone.
"device not certified" messege will be always if you use Supersu. It's obviously. Using supersu you unable to use apps like Google pay or any banking apps, because of system root.
Magisk is systemless solution, that's why Google do not recognize Magisk's root. And Play Store on about screen always show "Your device is certified". Also you can Hide root from some apps using Hide option in Magisk manager (it's very useful for local banking apps).
I have a suspicion that you used an older version of Android KitKat (official). And now you try to flash a new Rom (above the Android 7.1.2+). You can't do this. Because you must have Lollipop bootloader. You must be an Android Lillipop first. And then (get Root, then TWRP). And after all that - you will be able to flash some of Rom we are talking about.

Oh Finally!
dowloaded aosp 8.1 and all done. I was trying to use android 9 to be updated. But, pie becoming to be a "creampie" to me so I listened your word. and did it
just opened recovery mode and deleted all the zips. and copied new ones and flashed in order
1) aosp extended 8.1
2) open gapps nano for 8
3) magisk beta (yes this time I tried beta ver and it worked!)
after settings etc. checked with root checker and it was ok. so magisk.apk is not necessary now

Is it possible to root the phone and still getting OTA updates ?

I want to root my phone due to its huge benefits but also at the same time I want to keep my OTAs
Is it possible even if I will install them manually (but the data remains with no wipe) ?
And if so, how can I do this and whats the best way?

Yes it's possible with a little workaround, to temporarily switch to stock Recovery (from TWRP, if you had it installed) and to stock Boot (from the one patched by Magisk) during the OTA upgrade - OTA will fail if it finds not the stock images of Recovery and Boot
After the upgrade you just flash the new Boot patched by Magisk (and flash TWRP if you will)
Or you flash TWRP and flash Magisk from TWRP
Below is a post how I recently upgraded from QFJEUXM 12.0.2 to 12.0.3. Btw, I downloaded zip and initiated OTA manually because I didn't want to wait more days to be pushed for OTA, but that's just a small detail not important for the way how to do it:

Ofc, all my data, apps, settings, and Magisk modules were preserved
Generally, in the Redmi K20/Mi 9T Guides section on XDA you can find (at least two) threads about how-to root, i.e. install Magisk
Those threads describe the way to install Magisk by installing Magisk Manager, patching the Boot image, then flashing it from Fastboot (I prefer that way).
In that case TWRP is not needed (but it can be also installled)
Threads and guides are maybe old (since MIUI 11) but it doesn't matter, it's always the same method (essentially the same as in my post I gave you the link above, its part about returning back to Magisk after the OTA upgrade)
If you follow those guides you must pay attention that you patch the boot.img for exactly that (new) stock MIUI you do have and that you now use new Magisk (not some old versions as in the guides)
Alternatively, you flash TWRP by Fastboot, then flash Magisk zip from TWRP and then you install Magisk Manager
All those methods are described in other threads and posts.
Anyway, you must first unlock the Bootloader, again there is thread with a guide, or just google for how to unlock Bootloader on Xiaomi
Btw, some custom TWRP versions and Orange Fox do have Advanced options for upgrading MIUI and to keep Magisk, but when I did it that way for upgrading from QFJEUXM 11.0.5 to 12.0.2, it made me Factory reset and I lost all my files on Internal memory (it was generally an issue for the others who upgraded from MIUI 11 to MIUI 12 by flashing OTA through custom recovery)
Hence now for upgrading to 12.0.3 I didn't want to risk and did it as above

I really appreciate your reply but I kinda don't know much info to understand most of what u said
My last time with root was about 3 years ago with king root on Mi A1 and I didn't care about updates then
so it's my very first time with magisk and TWRP and that stuff
Could u tell me what is the best method of u mentioned to keep my files and everything with no delete and also makes me able to upgrade Official ROM with no deletes
After this i'll start digging to learn but I want to know what should I dig for

Unlocking Bootloader usually takes to wait 7 days=168 hours, hence you have enough time to read?

bro I can`t really thank u enough for the effort
as I got it:
1- Unlock bootloader
2- Install TWRP (the version u provided)
3- Install Magisk (last link u provided) right?
Is there any step of those that is risky or unsafe that may brick the phone ?
PS: On mi unlock application it says all phone data will be erased !
what should I do ?

By unlocking Xiaomi phone you won't lose anything but previous user data stored in phone, unlike ASUS phone losts OTA permanentry.
So make a backup, also I recommend you first picking your secondaly phone, not your daily using one.

As described, TWRP is optional, not needed for Magisk/root but it would be useful to have, so yes, install TWRP
Instructions for unlocking Bootloader say to do Backup. Copy photos and files from Internal memory to PC.
Export contacts to CVS file and also copy to PC.
Backup to Google your Google accounts, contacts, WhatsApp, etc.
Use Settings, Additional settings, Backup, and cooy to PC.
You can also use Settings, MIUI account to backup things
Installations of Magisk and TWRP will not erase data. Generally, they are not risky unless you make really stupid mistake like flashing TWRP img file to System partition instead of to Recovery partition and so - that's why you have instructions how to use Fastboot command to flash TWRP
It's more risky if you go to use e.g. MiFlash (you don't need for TWRP and Magisk), then people can screw up things and need authorized EDL support
