I want to root Galaxy Grand Prime; updated to Lollipop. - Galaxy Grand Prime Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This is my first time posting in XDA Forums.
So I've updated my phone to lollipop and after 5 or 6 months I am considering rooting my phone as I don't like this modified OS. I've searched about rooting my phone but thing come as the root process is only for some specific Build no. Info about my phone:
Model: SM-G530H
Baseband version: G530HXXU2BOH5
Kernel ver: 3.10.49-773219 [email protected] #1
Build no. : LRX22G.G530HXXU2BOH7
I want help about method of rooting my device which I think might have changed after updating to lollipop and I don't know if it's still rootable with normal methods of rooting my phone. Thanks.

Hi, I want a proper root. Not like I am lazy and don't want to install custom ROMs. I want to try other operating systems, I don't want any trace of the software who rooted my device. I want the default super user app which comes after rooting. Anything you can tell which properly root my device? Kingroot seems like has many flaws/drawbacks. I want a clean root.

Please use
Cf auto root with odin

So you can install propoer CWM or TWPR via Odin, and then install stock rom. This roms are always rooted.
About root you must use https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/ to your device and install it via Odin

Yes I can install stock ROM but the problem is finding the correct ROM. Whenever I search for ROMs for my phone the threads always comes up with "this ROM will only work with xxx-xxx-xxx build no. or partially work with it". Reading these type of threads, I only know that not a single ROM in the world is made for my phone. The most close I can get to my phone is this ROM but then it says wifi and probably camera too, won't work. To fix this apply "this". And then I not even understand the fixation instructions.

did you ever find a solution to this? I have the G350AZ (Cricket)

Rooting my device
Hello,
I am going to purchase an S4, I9505 and I would like to root the phone, just simply because I want to remove a bloatware apps and gain true control of the device.
My question is - if I follow the instructions in the first 3 posts to letter, how much is the chance to brick the phone? The phone is already on 4.4.2. Do I need to do anything else, or just follow the guide?
I know its a silly question, but I am going to spend some money on the device, and don't want to brick it...
Thank you in advance!

0,0000000001%. It's almost impossible to brick your phone.
Root have stopped working.
I9505, 4.2.2, XXUAMDE.
The phone have been rooted for more than a year.
Yesterday I tried "Wondershare\Dr.Fone for Android" as some smemo have been lost. Im not 100% sure this is why the root was lost.
Today I downloaded CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.tar.md5 and re-rooted using Odin3.
The process seemed to run fine - but SuperSu cant start - get the "no binary fil installed" error.
What can I do?

Will CF Auto Root work on an S4 (Android 4.4.2) with the baseband version I9505XXUGNJ3? I really can't afford a new phone but I want to root this one so I'm taking as many precautions as possible. Thanks.

I would install a custom recovery and get the root access through this one. Everytime I made that this way, works pretty good. I'm always using philz touch recovery

Hi!
I am willing to root my Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 (brand-Vodafone Italy and running XXUGNJ5 firmware) using CF Auto-Root, in order to flash TWRP and Google Edition ROM on it.
It is not a network-locked smartphone, but just "branded" (it gets some easily uninstallable Vodafone bloatware each time I update it via OTA, however I can use whatever SIM I want in it): is it risky for me to root it using Chainfire Auto-Root?
Rooting a nordic s4
I got a nordic s4.

Will it work to root with the correct file from CF webpage?
And what will happen with that knox thing? I dont use knox and i disabled what i could so far. I jist want root. Dont wanna mess around with kernels and roms. Cause of bad experience.
I read some people gets random reboots and so.
Rooted s2 long time ago and bricked it cause some bug.
Then rooted a s3. Worked with a charm with cf autoroot.

Rooting I9505G running LRX21P
Hi all,
I tried rooting my I9505G running Lollipop 5.0.0 LRX21P. I used ODIN and CF-Auto-root. SuperSu now wants to update, but the update fails.
I later realized that the CF version I used was not meant for Lollipop. Thankfully, my device is still working normally.
Any ideas on how to root?
Thanks a ton!

TWRP for SM-T330nu Galaxy Tab 4 8.0??

Does this exist? I have found a TWRP for a regular T330, but not the T330NU. Basically I am looking for a way to get my 5.1.1 rooted. I know there is a method listed on this forum that involves installing a new kernal that is rootable, but once again, I need a custom recovery to even flash that file. Or do I? Any help would be highly appreciated. I apologize if this has been addressed, but after many Google searches, and even searches on XDA, i was not able to find any definite instructions on how to do this. I would happily downgrade to 4.4.2 Kitkat if thats even possible, but I hit a dead end there also trying to use ODIN to flash the stock 4.4.2 firmware. I made the stupid mistake of upgrading to 5.1.1, and now am suffering do to all the bloatware installed with it. Please direct me to the proper files i need to use to get my device rooted! I'm not worried about knox because it has already been triggered. I just dont understand how or where to get TWRP for my tablet because all the files I found specifically left the T330NU out of its list of compatible devices. I have tried Kingo-Root, KingRoot, and no success. Help, I need ROOT!
A TWRP build for the SM-T330 will also work on the SM-T330NU, so you can use this thread for TWRP. There is also Philz touch, a touch version of CWM which can be found in this thread. All that said however, there is only one way to root the SM-T330NU on 5.1.1, and that is the kernel method you mentioned, for which the thread can be found here

Ok... heres my next question? Do i just simply use ODIN to install the custom recovery, then use the custom recovery to flash that new kernel??? Because I still have the stock recovery on right now, and just need the basic instructions h on how to achieve this. Thanks

Yes I believe so, although the kernel thread should have instructions
Success with Custom recovery and Kernel Flash
Ok i performed the Kernel flash using Philz recovery... and flashed the SuperSU file posted on that thread. Now I ran a program called "Root Checker" from the app store and it says Root not installed... BUT when I run the SuperSU app it says "Super User Enabled" ... So am i rooted or not?? Is there another program i need to use to check root status? or am i done?...
***DUH, my fault... did not realize i needed to grant super user access to the program.... Did that and SUCCESS!!***
Thanks dude... you're very helpful and patient... Wish i had a customer comment card I could fill out about you!
rootedI
I have the exact same tab and have not found much support for it however I believe I rooted it using old school towel root. And there are some cool things u can do with it but I've been back in kit Kat land all this time.

Please correct me if i am wrong

Hello guys,
Please excuse my noobish question, but i need to find some good answer.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3, model number SM-N9005 with Android version 4.4.2.
The phablet is rooted thanks to Towelroot. And from there i install Titanium Backup and many others intersting stuff that need/or not root.
I enjoyed Xposed and i'm thinking i want to enjoy CyanogenMod also.
Now ... my problems is that i am very confused about what i have to do next.
And after i spent some time to research this, i've come here for some guidance because i fell that i'm running in circle.
My questions are :
Do i have to upgrade to Lollipop first ?
Do i have to unroot from Towelroot and root again with Odin ?
As i saw that steps are as follow:
1. Need root
2. Install TWRP
3. CyanogenMod (as i saw 12 is the last and it's good for my device)
Many thanks !

1. Unique way to update to Lollipop (if you are rooted) is via ODIN. I don't recommend you update anyway. I still with android 4.4.2.
2. No. Only flash the new firmware via ODIN and root it then with ODIN too.
3. I don't recommend you install CyanogenMod if you are noob.
If you do want CyanogenMod, you only need to install TWRP, and then flash latest CM-12.1 nightly build in recovery. You do need to wipe /data first, though which means you will lose your apps and settings.
Always make backups!

So why do you dont recommend to me to upgrade to Lollipop ?
Is Kit Kat better at this time than Lollipop ?
If i will update via ODIN, is there a better way to do that ?
And ... Still have my question about what if i'll unroot (and how can i do that safe) and root it by examples via ODIN and then follow others tutorials with TWRP and CyanogenMod. I'm not confortable via ODIN (but if i find some good, trusted tutorials, i want to try it) because as i told you before i rooted my phablet, the easy way via Towelroot.
2. No. Only flash the new firmware via ODIN and root it then with ODIN too.

If you want a CM rom just flash recovery with odin. No need to root. Then backup your phone and flash the CM rom. No need to upgrade to lollipop either.
However if you want a lollipop TW based rom it's better to upgrade to lollipop first. Nevertheless you can still try lollipop TW custom rom without upgrading to lollipop first but some functions may not work well.
If you can root your phone with Towelroot and you don't want to use odin to flash the recovery, you may do so by dd with terminal emulator.

I need help

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900FD running 6.0.1 I'm having issues rooting this phone after the latest patch update because before the latest patch update I had used CF-Auto Root with no issues but now I use it now and try to root my phone it just bricks my phone and I wants to root my phone I'm lost without root I can't do nothing I'm bored and I wants to know what's the best way I can root it since there's not many custom roms for this phone... any help is good...
Thanks

Have you thought about installing LineageOS. It supports the SM-G900FD officially.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...m-cyanogenmod-14-0-galaxy-s5-android-t3476433
TWRP recovery you can find at their official website page searching for klteduos. The current version 3.1 should be fine.
Then you could just use LineageOS' SU add-on for root (choose the addonsu-arm-signed.zip)
All at your own risk & good luck

ive restored my phone with Odin so many times, i couldnt even begin to estimate what that number is. The reason i say that is because in having had restored so many times, ive never had to run CF Autoroot. Ive only ever flashed the tar.md5 firmware then twrp 3.0.2 and boot into twrp and select reboot. Twrp then asks you if you want to change the system from read only to r/w. After that, i just install whatever ROM i want and never have an issue.

I have seen this, but odin is dangerous. If you can tell me doing step 4 only then installing superuser and towelroot will do the job ?
Also please tell me what is this file for ?

Odin is safe lol it can help you if your ever get into hot water. Also I believe that's the initial file to initial safestrap & no, you're going to have to go through all of that if you want root. It's annoying but worth it to get rid of those pesky bloatware apps.
In step 2 it says: "and the TouchWiz ROM you want to install. " Where can I get one? It does not matter which, as I intend to use Nova Launcher.
EDIT: Nevermind, that was only for the 11 version.
