ASUS Bricked ?? Need help please ! - Zenfone 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HI ! I am a newbie to XDA and mostly a non-techie to phones ...
Here is my story
My phone is a ASUS ZENFONE 5 LTE from taiwan with model ASUS_TOOP
i received an error com.android.settings not working .. so what i did was to factory reset my phone (i read in the forums that this will solve it) after resetting my phone ... it enters the asus logo then the same error appears com.android.settings not working and i press ok and then goes in a loop for this error message ..
i can still go to reset menu (press power and volume down) where i have the wipe cache partition or factory reset option but do not know what to do after this ...
Thanks in advance !

Try flashing. Look at the link in my sig.
Its nothing big

thanks for the advice guys ... the problem that when I connect to the pc I can not turn it on and then the computer does not recognize me ... then how do I flash the rom nn me if the computer recognizes it??

You can try to factory reset it... Follow the following
Press Vol Up + Vol Down Key (Press in middle so that both are pressed)
Press Home Key
Now Press Power
GT I5801 logo will appear
Leave the keys and your phone will boot into recovery
Try wiping cache first and if not working factory reset it
If after this it doesnt work, Install Kies...It will install drivers
Follow the above steps except press vol down key instead of both
Phone will go into download mode.... Plug in USB and flash it
hello guys ... I then tried the key combination .. but nothing to do., or any sign of life .... other ideas ... damn it bothers me back for assistance!
Just flash your phone with new rom. For this use Odin and OPS file and rom .
Boot into download mode of gt-5800 by using vol - , power and home button all at a time. Then you can flash new firmware from Odin , use one package or other option specific to rom and your phone will start working again. Hope this helps.
Post any problem while flashing.

Did the phone hung during upgrade process or Kies hung during download process?
If phone hung during upgrade process and now you cannot boot that means your phone is hard bricked. This is because when you upgrade the phone through kies, it updates the boot loader and when phone hung during the process means bootloader is corrupted. In this scenario, you need to take the phone to service center and get hardware replaced
then I guess I'll have to bring your cell phone service ... damn ..
Grazzi guys for the help anyway .. I just know you know the developments of the case ..
hello
have you ever tried anything like flashing before? if not take it to samsung service centre and say it is not switching on.

Problem with my Flipout...

Hi.
I would be very grateful if you could help me...
I got a software from the market (root toolbox) and I tryed to delete the delvik cache, as suggested from some friends this could speed up my mobile (was a bit slow that days,,)
After this, I did a soft reset but the phone everytime goes to the main screen restarts again after 2-3 seconds...
I thought something bad happened to the main system so I did a factory reset (power button + x key on keyboard)
("wipe data/ factory reset")
I even chose the "wipe cache partition" (in that case I saw a message that could not find a 'recovery' something.. (too quick to read...)
The problem now is that the mobile, goes to the "Welcome to Motoblur" screen then after 2-3 seconds reboots by itself again!
I really don't know what went wrong.. Is there, please, any other way to hard reset the device ?
Thank you very much in advance for any ideas/help!
cheers
OH S*** I just found the way here !!

I was desperate and I said wtf lets try this flashing... guyz I love you !!
my device works now! ;-)

S7 Edge "Bootloader Exception" bug

Hi all,
I've received my S7 Edge today(Exynos), yay.
All was working flawlessly until few moments ago, I was running 3Dmark, and before I even start to bench, while i was downloading the first scene The screen goes all black, then after 10 seconds, there's a message on top (in the same way a rooted phone would display "kernel is not seandroid enforced..."):
Bootloader Exception
[RST_START = 0x100000000 ]
[...]
Exception: do_handler_serror: SERROR(esr: 0xbf00000000)
[...]
I didn't install any rom, root or else, it's pure stock untouched. I tried to reboot phone using volume down+power, it reboots I think (screen goes all black) but quickly the same message appears...
I'm surely going to call phone operator to tell them that phone is KO, but if one of you guys has any idea that would avoid me to send back phone to warranty, it would be nice
Thanks !
@mods : Sorry for posting in wrong section
Try this...

I'd suggest a factory reset if the above fails.
Hold Power + Volume Up + Menu
Then use the volume keys to scroll to factory reset and select using menu or power buttons.
Hi guys,
Thanks very much for you answers,
Unfortunately any key combination is not working can't get into recovery nor download mode ...
I don't want to try Odin, scared about potential warranty issues ... but it kills me to have to send the phone back to sammy and wait ..

The phone must be off for the Volume Up + Power + Home button combination to work. Keep those pressed for like 10 seconds, even after the phone powers on. I just tried it on my S7 Edge (which drops every call) and could restore to factory settings (but didn't solve the issue).

Thanks for your advices !
Unfortunately, even with this combination and a lot of patience I cannot manage to "bypass" this Bootloader error ...
I'm mad because it will take one month to get a new phone from my operator(just called them ...)
So maybe i'm going to try Odin ... but if I cannot put my phone into download mode, i'm f*ckued, right ?
Here's a photo of the error message :

Nope, the phone doesn't boot anymore... it only displays the bootloader error message...
And no possibility to access reboot or recovery...
Maybe I can try to check with ADB, but my problem is that i would need to active USB debugging in settings ... but i can't do that
Return it. Nand flash died.

Yep, I wanted to avoid it, but I don't see other reasonnable option. The phone didn't last more than 24h ... ok, it happens, I know ...
My previous (Still actual (sic)) Phone was a Note 3 and I installed so much roms, soft bricked the device so many times, but I could always restore it ... But not the S7 EDGE ... And I didn't spot any other user with same bootloader issue...
I've just sent back the phone for replacement, Thanks for all who replied to me in this thread
Oh and by the way : don't download 3DMark from play store , it will Hard brick your phone !!! (haha just kidding , i know it's not what caused my phone to die, I'm sure of it , however I won't try to install it anymore i think^^ )
Cheers XDA crew !!
Mine has done just the same. went to bed, woke up this morning and the same message as yourself.

Sorry to hear that bro
Try things to troubleshoot if you wanna, but my advice : don't lose one day of trying to fix it, send it back directly to warranty...
I tried lot of things, key combination to reboot phone in recovery or download, I tried Kies, Odin, ADB....
I believe it's a real samsung bug that will happen to many people, So send it now before sammy is drowned under hard bricked S7 phones and start to have issues to provide replacement devices....
the S7 edge is getting a "urgent" update on approx 3mb..maybe this is a fix of some sort.

That is to correct the Screen Edge sensitivity
For anyone else who runs into this issue, I managed to fix my phone.
Holding the power and VOL down buttons for about 5-10 seconds will reboot the phone; if you hold home at the same time you can get into download mode (might take a couple tries).
From there, you can flash a new bootloader (BL option in odin) and then get back into recovery to do whatever you need to do.
Went from soft-brick to full restore in about ten minutes--not even a factory reset necessary.
Hope this helps!

like I said in the title my phone had an error (SYSTEM REV. CHECK FAIL DEVICE : 1 BINARY : 0 ) when I try to install an update of the device software So actually I don't know how to fix it, actually I downloand the lastest version of my A510F to try to install in the download mode but i'm not sure if it's gonna fix it With the Smart Switch PC Software it ask a confirmation code but I don't have, I don't have my IMEI
And for the information I did all of that first because I lost my google account and I was blocked when I reset completelly this phone because I lost mine ( I tried too call google to help me to find the email but it was a very old account that I forgot and they explain to me that if I have no IMEI to recongnize my phone there is no solution... )
All of that because I lost my OnePlus 5 in a festival in Paris :'(
Hope ur gonna help me.. I will go tomorrow in Los Angeles and without a phone i'm gonna be lost
Sorry for my bad english also
( I'm going to be awake all the night with this noises...)
Hi. IMEI should be written at the bottum on the back on your phone. It's kind of hard to read but it's there.
So actually I flashed with the lastest rom but now I have a loop on the logo samsung... and it is impossible to shut down the phone to reboot in recovery mode to wipe all data ... help please..

Have you tried to do force reboot by holding down power and vol down for a few seconds, then immediately when screen goes black, change to power/home/vol up and hold them to boot to recovery?
