Bluetooth disconnection possible fix - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hello,
I have the SM-G935FD model. I am facing disconnection in Bluetooth. I tried it on 2 cars, whether using the Bluetooth or not and once it is properly paired, after a minute or so it disconnects. I also tried it on Sony headsets and the same happens.
Someone in the Samsung Members app mentioned that he contacted Samsung support and told him to try Bluetooth in the "Safe mode", and then back to normal mode, and if it still disconnects in the normal mode then a factory reset should be done. Now I tried the Sony headset in the safe mode and there was no disconnection at all, and when I returned back to normal mode it disconnected again.
So I just want to ask if anyone tried resetting the phone to solve this issue and if it really worked. I will do that soon as I have a lot of things to backup and I need time for that.
Thank you.

I have the same issue. How to enable the Safe Mode? Anyway i hope that Samsung will realease a fix soon.

Safe mode: hold the power button, choose restart and choose it once again then immediately press and hold the volume down button until the phone restarts, shows the Samsung logo then vibrates, there just release the volume down button. You will see "Safe mode" on the bottom left corner.

So why is it working on safe mode? Can we send a report to Samsung?
Sended from my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Gold Platinum

Just like Windows OS safe mode I guess, less files and maybe basic drivers work in this mode. Plus not all apps work in safe mode so there is almost no chance of conflict.
I am not sure if we can send a report to Samsung, maybe an expert here in the forum can help?
I will try resetting my phone this night and see if this will solve the problem and report back.
Let's hope someone here in the forum did it before so they can confirm.

Ok, I reset the phone to factory settings and now the bluetooth is not disconnecting anymore.

Maybe there was a conflict with some apps.

Actually it seems there is a conflict, even after resetting the phone and restoring my apps, the disconnection happened again.
I am not rooted so I don't know if I can get a logcat to identify the issue, maybe some one can help?
Thanks

Samsung just released a 156mb update few days ago, we have to wait and see if it will solve this problem.

This is good news because I notice when I leave for work and my WiFi disconnects, the phone also disconnect my bluetooth connection. I couldn't figure out why but it seems that the phone likes to disconnect both when one losses connection
Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

I had this same issue when I had Good Lock installed. It would either randomly disconnect or when trying to connect to a device, it would cycle through all previously paired devices before getting to the one I was actually near.

That's it, i think that too. We have to wait the update, hoping it will arrive soon.

Have you tried Bluetooth Auto connect? If it gets disconnected it will try to reconnect, and you can set it so that if it doesn't connect within a certain amount of time it switches the Bluetooth off, I use it in the car all the time, it does take some playing about with the settings but it's worth it.

The strange thing is that when I reconnect the phone with the button on the telephone screen, it reconnect itself without problem, but it doesn't do this on its own. I will wait for the update.

Regarding the update, I had one few days ago (3 days maybe) but still no luck.

Is it the last one? Because last update has the bluetooth fix into the changelog.

No it didn't say anything about bluetooth, and I think it was around 156MB.

I think I found out what the problem is, it seems there is a conflict with the mobile banking app i use (Emirates NBD). Now I uninstalled the app and the bluetooth is still connecting with no problems. Someone on Google Play store reported the same problem when using the app.
So it is better to check what app(s) is/are making the conflict. I am not sure how to do it on an unrooted devices, but should be easy for the rooted devices to get the logcat.

Wi-Fi won't turn on after phone sleeps, sometimes

Hi!
My n9005 works perfectly fine, but SOMETIMES in standby when I wake the phone up, I notice Wi-Fi is turned off, while it previous it was on.
When I try to move the knob thing to turn on Wi-Fi it just does the animation and stays like it's trying to turn it on, but doesn't.
I have to restart the phone every time to make Wi-Fi work again.
This doesn't happen a lot of the time, but it's annoying.
Is this a common thing? What could I do to fix it?
Thank you for your time.
Open wifi menu and go to option.
then go to advanced, there is and option "keep wifi on during sleep". Make sure it says "always on"
The problem isn't that.
That's how it is by default.
I would be able to turn wifi on after it turned off if that was the problem.
In my case I need to restart the phone to be able to.

I did a factory reset and Odin flash of the same exact ROM that I had by downloading from Sammobile.
The problem is so random and seems to only happen when the phone sleeps or is charging. Sometimes it works for a few days, sometimes it will happen, no WiFi until a restart.
EDIT:
Maybe I should download another ROM from sammobile and try that?
Does that trip Knox?
I have a [Austria (T-Mobile) MAX] ROM (PDA:N9005XXUGBOK6
CSC:N9005MAXGBOK1) atm, I bought the Note 3 used and it had that. But I live in Serbia, maybe I should try the Serbian one in example for my carrier?
The WiFi problem is just annoying at most, it doesn't happen often, but I shouldn't have to restart the phone to have WiFi.
As its an old old problem google it .

I did,
Ive found people that the wifi icon is grayed out.
Thats not the issue here.
Please help me out here. Tomorrow Ill be opening up the phone with a friend to check for water damage if any. Since I bought it used.
If I dont have to do that, please reply.
BUMP
JJEgan has disabled private messages, so I can't really contact him on a solution or what he meant.
For anyone interested, I solved my problem on my own.
Enter *#0011#, press menu key, tap on WiFi tab, tap on the power saving button so it's off.
I didn't experience the same issue ever again.

Bluetooth keeps disconnecting

Anyone have an issue with Bluetooth disconnecting? The icon disappears from the notification Bar, then reappears when connected again. Happens with my car and Gear S2 watch. Very irritating!

Mine jut started disconnecting a couple days ago, right after the T Mobile update. I thought it was my bluetooth earbuds, but I happened to look at my S2 Gear watch at the same time and saw that it disconnected too, and then reconnected about 5 seconds later...

I got mine to get abck to working normal today. Came across another forum where someone suggested the following:
Head on over to Settings > Applications > Application Manager. Select More and then Show System Apps. Look for Bluetooth Share, then tap on Force Stop, and clear the cache and data.
As soon as I did this all of my issues went away and everything connected fine!
I have the same problem and it is very annoying, bluetooth keeps disconnecting from my car, specially during calls and then tries to reconnect again. This never happened to me before in any smartphone so this is a specific problem from the S7. I tried clean cache etc. but the problem continues. Anybody can recommend something else?

Have you tried un-pairing each device you use and restarting the phone, then pairing? I was having issues as well with Jaybird earbuds and my mini jambox. I did that and they seem to be working. I also followed the directions of resetting Bluetooth sharing. Been 2 days. No issues.
I've been having this issue as well - it happens when I'm not on a call and unfortunately when I am, which really sucks. Have had my car for a long time with many different phones so definitely not the car. Gonna try the bluetooth share tip from above - hopefully, that fixes it.

Just today in 5 minutes I lost connection with my car twice during a call, very annoying.
Mine went away after a factory reset and now its returned. ARGH.
I was having massive bluetooth problems that i thought was linked to the system update. I was getting random reboots, disconnects, and just all around flaky performance. I traced mine problem to the Nova launcher beta and night mode. For some reason it hated my bluetooth. Restored the stable version and removed night mode and my bluetooth is a champ now with no issues.

I feel your pain
I have a Jaybird Bluebuds X that I've been using for over a year now with the Nexus 6 and 7. Never a connectivity issue, and range was never an issue as well. With the S7 Edge, It keeps dropping the media connectivity whenever i'm streaming from either music or video, even when i'm standing a foot in front of it. Stays connected for phone audio only. Then drops completely after a few minutes. I've tried all the solutions posted without any success. Also does this with my bluetooth speaker. Very frustrating. Between this and no ambient display, i'm ready to go back to my Nexus 6. Big and slow, but at least it works. lol.
I have an issue in my car with bluetooth constantly connecting and reconnecting. I found that if I turn wifi off while I am in the car, my bluetooth is fine.

WiFi Automatically Turning On

I just took the latest T-Mobile update, and no matter what I do, the WiFi turns itself back on. I've tried powering it off and restarting phone, checked advanced for smart switch (or something), powering off wifi, clearing cache, checked program permissions. Everything I can think of. I'm losing my mind. Anyone with a similar issue?
Not on my T-mo S7 Edge.
In B4 the rest of the crew ... do a factory reset !
I really don't want to factory reset. I was hoping someone else has seen this and can help.

By any chance did you install Samsungs new user interface Good Lock? It could be that is what's turning it back on based on location.
It was the updated Google Now ( or just the search app) it asked for permission after the fact, I denied it and now it hasn't turned itself on... Will Update.
I lied. It is still doing it. Anyone with an idea, it even does it in airplane mode (just flew to Chicago)
I took New update, have alot disabled with package disabler and wifi is fine for me

YES. I just did the update and my wifi is turning off/turning on by itself! wtf damnit.
tmobile s7 edge
Did anyone figure this out, massively annoying.
It happened to me. It may seem like the tmobike update but its not. How I fixed it is by uninstalling the last 3 or so apps that you installed, rebooting your phone, and it quit for me then I reinstalled one by one, watching behavior very closely. Also check advanced wifi settings to see if auto hotspot connect, always scan, etc is enabled.

It started doing it for me after I paired my new gear s2 to it... Anyone else in the same boat? Just trying to seee what our common denominator is.
Again, for those that are having these issues... do you have your t-mobile app installed?
My may seem like a silly question but on my girlfriends S6 there was an option called network manager or wifi manager (or something to that effect.)
As soon as she disabled that she didn't have that problem anymore. Worth a look.

wifi problem when screen off

Hello
The wifi goes off after 4 to 5 minutes when the screen goes into standby.
Spotify, sidesync, ... cuts
Even the ping no longer responds
If the screen remains on permanently or the phone is charging, no problem.
In the settings, the wifi is always activated
No battery power
Testing on several Internet networks
Has anyone ever had a problem?
thank you

Been there, Done that, Doesn't matter... I've gone in and reset that setting at least a couple dozen times, to no effect. I've also tried rebooting into recovery and clearing cache before and/or after resetting WiFi Sleep. Nothing has fixed it. Only thing I can think of doing next is a restore/wipe via Odin.

If it occurred after an update, and cache cleaning did not help, the next step is a factory reset or Odin flash due to bad installation.

Bluetooth issues after Oreo Update

So I seem to be having issues with bluetooth. Most of the BT devices work, but my TomTom Raider 400 does not seem to want to work.
I was able to pair it to the device, but thats all I get, the TomTom says it won't connect or anything, It was working great nougat now it does not work anymore. I cleared out all network settings, still no go.
Anyone having issues with devices that perhaps require data? anyone have any ideas?

I'm having similar BT problems since the update. Sometimes my car doesn't connect. Quite often my Gear S3 disconnects when the phone is still well within range. My Sat Nav will only connect via BT if I search for it. There is definitely a glitch but I haven't found a fix

I've updated to CRC7 today using the SD card update method described here.

I updated to Oreo 8.0 on my S8 today and have had bluetooth connectivity issues ever since. Listening to music in the car, it will randomly drop connection. Also, some track information is no longer showing on the headunit (the playback time and the overall song length). Everything worked perfect before update. Seems to have been a known problem that may have been addressed with the 8.1 update on Pixel and Nexus phones. Unfortunately my carrier (ATT) just rolled out the 8.0 update today for my S8. I'm at a loss for what to do.
It's failing left and right.
I turn it on and it turns off apprx 1 min later.
I turn it back on and it does the same thing (each time).
removing and re-setting up everything fails.
rebooting fails (same as turning on and off)
safe mode does not help.
So far, Oreo has made Bluetooth useless on my S8

After Oreo update my S8's BT became spotty working 20% of the time on calls in the car. So i searched & read that resetting network connections would do the trick. It wasn't under connections->more settings - instead i found it in about phone-at the bottom under Looking for something else-> Reset->Reset Network Settings . Yehey i found it & reset my network settings!
Now my BT won't turn ON! From 20% to 0% function!!!
What a what!
Fix this Samsung!

Same issue here. My S8+ was rock solid on Nougat, but since the update to Oreo yesterday my Bluetooth does not connect 19 out of 20 tries in my car. I factory reset my phone thinking it may have been an issue with the update process, but that did nothing to fix the issue. I really need a solution as I need to talk while in my car.
Haven't tried using Bluetooth on anything else, but my phone stays consistently connected to my Gear watch.
Anyone have any solutions to this? I'm experiencing the same issues. Won't connect consistently with my gear s2, drops certain speakers all the time, although it seems to stay connected more consistently to my car. Really frustrating and don't want to wait for the glacial pace of Verizon update rollouts.

I just installed the update, but up the thread above several people say that factory reset didn't fix this issue for them.
It won't make a difference. I factory reset my phone after the update to Oreo and reconfigured everything from scratch, no restore, and it made no difference. My Bluetooth still does not work with my car. It works with my Pebble, my Sony Bluetooth headset, and a Marley speaker with no issues. Why is it that only my car fails? It is the most important one.
I am having the same issue when listening to music with Bluetooth in my car. The music gets choppy and does not play back the way it should. I have been looking everywhere online for a fix and I haven't come up with anything. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.
Same issue with Sony XAV-68BT headunit. Music plays through Bluetooth, then drops rendomly, then manually have to reconnect. Very distracting while driving. Phone calls do not seem to be affected though, so... There's another little tidbit.
Actually I did notice the other day that my Gear Sport was on standalone mode instead of Bluetooth, so I was missing texts from people. Really annoying. Samsung better address this.. going to take ages for Verizon to get the update though, I'm sure.
Any chance that the Bluetooth apk file for the Galaxy S9 would work on our phones? Maybe it would help?
I'm having similar issues here too. I was on Nougat with zero problems. Did an OTA update to Oreo and suddenly my Kenwood car stereo keeps losing bluetooth connectdion. Used ODIN to flash back to Nougat and it's rock solid. Decided to flash Oreo instead of doing it OTA, and suddenly the bluetooth is flakey again. Flashed back to Nougat, and it's rock solid. I've also tried factory resetting and reconfiguring the car stereo, did a factory reset of the Galaxy S8, cleared the cache, and nothing works. The only way of getting Bluetooth to maintain a connection to the car stereo is to be on Nougat.
Interestingly though, I have no problems with my Gear S3 maintaining a bluetooth connection.
It appears it's only some devices that have the issue. I don't hold out much hope that Samsung will fix it though. Weren't people complaining about the same thing during the betas?
I guess this can solve your problems too, I had an issue since the oreo update, cant select anything but SBC reverting to default, even with the level u app not showing UHQ, I started a chat with samsungs members app and they told me that is an error in the update, not all devices are presenting this problem. well, the solution: 1. back up your data with smartswitch app(I backed up with a sd card, 10Gb info) if you have whatsapp do a chat backup because they dont backup with smartswitch. 2. delete your samsung and google account. 3. Do a hard reset(witch the phone powered off press volume+, bixby and power, until you see the recovery menu), wiping cache and then wipe data/factory reset(move trough the menu with volume+- and select with power). 4. start the phone and add your google and samsung account, then restore your data with smarwitch app. this will let you select the BT codec again.
worked for me and the bluetooth conection is more stable
