Have you checked if your region received it through:
Xpericheck.com
Or:
Fwchecker.com
You can download the ftf with Flashtool that got Xperifirm included. It fixes everything automatically, the only thing you have to do is downloading it and afterwards flash it. Even if your region hasn't received you can give another region a go, but I wouldn't recommend it, because the mobile network is customized in each different firmware region

It will work, but the risk is that the network might be slower than before, because it's not optimized for your region

The moment you alter the kernel even the slightest bit from the OEM settings, the bootloader needs to be unlocked.
So my answer is that it won't work with locked bootloader.

One quesgion, bit of a noob question but...
When I unlock bootloader I lose the DRM keys.. How can I get them back or restore them? And second, what do I do if I flash this kernel with latest FW, and let's say there's a newer FW in some months.. Can I then update my FW from flaahtool without losing root or...??

[HOW TO] Update to 257 and preserve root

O.K guys...
This is quite simple
Download generic 534 (I used for central Europe)
DOWNLOAD FTF
Flash it via Flashtool and root with Kingo or root this way :
tnx @schickel
This method works great. If you don't trust these tools(Kingo root), use Root MANY ANDROID from Bin4ry. I've used this tool without any problems on the downgraded firmware.
Click to collapse
Then boot ROM (you will need to restart your device two times to root proper) and you'll get OTA warning you have 257 firmware ready for update.
Download update and let the device flash the update.
And that's it
Now you have newest firmware and you root is here as well...
See ya

I'm not talking theoretically - I just did that

Thanks.
Not everyone gets the OTA, some need to do it via pccompanion.
But its great news to know the OTA update keeps root.

That's the point of this thread.
You'll get OTA if you use generic or world FTF.
That's why I said - first flash central Europe (for EU countries) and you'll get OTA info about 257 firmware.
I couldn't update by OTA too, then I did all this and now I can use OTA.
I was receiving OTA info but couldn't update - so I know not everyone can update that way.

Yes I agree with you. But some will want to stay with region specific or branded firmware. There are other methods for them, this is good for those people who will want to flash to central Europe first.
I good find and thanks for confirming OTA keeps root.
I agree, of course

EDIT: ROOT IS STILL HERE! WOOHOO!!!
OTA on phone preserves root, no matter which .534 firmware u have.
If u update from phone it preserves root
Make sure to switch to SuperSU app before u update, from any other superuser, works best

I didn't force it. I was running the .534 DK firmware and the update notification has always been there through the sony software update app. I chose the DK firmware over the hong kong firmware because I didin't like the NFC logo always on there and I'd rather my phone say 4G instead of LTE.
You may have to wait for the OTA! Not sure if there is a way to force it on the phone unless someone gets the update.zip after they download it and you flash it in stock recovery? not sure as I've never entered stock recovery yet. my BL still locked.
Damn it I want a nexus 5... but I'm afraid I'll get drunk or something and accidentally wash it like i do the Z1 all the time

Same here. I just tried the OTA update and got the update failed after the reboot.
EDIT:
Maybe because I rooted with using Vroot. From what I've read, people had success using Kingo root. I tried the update 4x so far after Vroot. I'll edit this post again after rooting using Kingo root and see if the update will go through or not.

If i have an Unlocked Bootloader , running .1.136 STOCK odexed, (never flashed a ROM) can I update using FOTA?
More than likely I would say any moded phone unless it's returned to stock won't update ota. At least that's how it was back in my Samsung days, I haven't moded my Sony. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to just flash an ftf when it's available. Someone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that's how it is....
If changelog is correct - there are no Tap2wake, no 4K, TimeShift and smart features - no matter how optimised it'll be without new features it's just faster JB.
We already have almost all from Z2 so once again, we'll have to rely on our brains....
Fortunately, @serajr is preparing systemUI for KK and I'm sure we will all work on porting and moving apps and features from Z2 KK.
I'm not sure I'll even flash KK.
I'm sure I won't flash it now, without root privilege...

[Prerooted flashable zip][23.0.1.A.4.30][(CustomizedUK) for Z2 tablet SGP511]

Hi
Here is flasable zip file wich install latest ROM 23.0.1.A.4.30 which this time is customized UK, latest stable SuperSu v2.37 and latest beta Dualrecovery .154 for Tablet Z2 with read/write acces to system.
This is tested and works just fine though make nandroid backup before flashing.
Install it by flashing whole zip file with custom recovery. Wipes aren´t necessary but good practise.

So you have working custom recovery? What exactly do you mean that you lost your root? Partial root or something else? If you have working custom recovery why not just flash latest SuperSu from here:
http://download.chainfire.eu/636/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.37.zip
And then about encrytpion keys. Do you mean that you have encrypted your device or perhaps DRM keys? Flashing prerooted firmware have no effects to your device DRM keys if you mean that.

You are welcome.
You need Flashtool and correctly installed drivers for it and rootable firmware in ftf format. If I remember correctly latest was 17.1.2.A.0.314. If you want to I believe you can use this one: https://mega.co.nz/#!kcxxjaLA!itErjRi2fYPPswal-c7XasF_lAvPKyY4GwEzY3xgHZ0 It is for SGP511 but memory size is only difference between devices. use flashtool to put on Nordic with root and custom recovery
use the recovery from nordic to flash the rooted stock firmware.

Last questions though. Do I need to be unlocked to do this and will my DRM keys stay good?

Thank you. Short answer is that as long you have root access you can install prerooted firmwares so basically same way you do with this prerooted firmware. Credits how to make prerooted firmwares are in op. Some point there is no method to root newer firmwares without unlocking your bootloader so I did that too but because backed up TA partition I´m back with rooted device and locked bootloader.

Can you do us a favor? Install this Stagefright Detector app and report back if it's patched or not.

Noticed the Baseband version is different from my CH 0.546 ROM (00086-45 at the end of the string) - thought all European basebands were the same?

I have released a small 2.6MB patch based on the latest 23.4.A.0.580 Stock ROM for rooted users that are already on the v5.1.1 stock 23.4.A.0.546 Sony ROM and wish to fix this Stagefright Vulnerability.
(Non-Rooted users have no other choice than to update their ROM again)
See the thread in the url below for download:

gazhead: I forgot to mention, thanks for this release and for sharing :good:, it is indeed a few days or 1week early until it reaches other regions in Europe at least
Does anyone possibly have the full changelog for 23.4.A.0.580?
23.4.A.0.580 pre-rooted
Hi,
My Z3C is on Android 5.0.2 now (23.1.A.1.28) with locked bootloader, root (superSU) and dualrecovery. Can i just flash this zip in the recovery mode and get rooted 23.4.A.0.580? Will i lose my personal data?
I'd also like to know if there are any locks or apps because of the Vodafone brand.
Sorry if my questions are silly, i am a newbie, just want to update my phone without breaking anything.
Thanks!

yes its prerooted and untouched (with some vodafone crap) easy to remove when Rooted<-
As for ANY flash, do a backup first! And your data and system will be gone, but SD card will be untouched.
No worries mate im running it now

it's an FTF correct? if so.. according to this and most users: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/list-stock-firmwares-d5803-d5833-t2906706
you can't just flash it on recovery if you're on a different version.. in this case.. that poster is on 5.0.2.

i did read the stickies.. where do you think that link i posted came from.. also from the posts in those stickies.. people have said to use flashtool since flashing via recovery will not completely install everything like kernels. again.. i may be wrong, but that's what i've always read.. from those same stickies.

Yes, you can downgrade APG1 to APD8!!!!!

First, flash ENG boot in the AP. Then, go back immediately and flash the CSC CP and AP of the ROM of your choice. Simple, easy, DOWNGRADE COMPLETE!!!

when some one tests this can they please do a video to prove if it works, also can we flash CSC that does not factory wipe the phone. also I don't remember for sure but isn't the U firmware bootloader 2 the international version with the unlocked bootloader?
I wanted to know you you could wip up a quick tutorial or steps for us . I can tell its really simple and easy. but once we unzip the firmware wont it then lose the md5 has and signature. of are the 5 files inside also signed.

Yep, if this works then the OP is a genius who's name will live on in the T-Mobile s7 edge forum. People will be able to flash the U firmware again. Can someone also verify that knox doesn't get tripped?

Since they are all official and signed files I would assume that this would not trip knox. But I can not verify for sure. Also I thought knox checks to see if the boot loader is unlocked.
I have another question. with an unlocked boot loader don't we still have the problem of dm-verity being enabled that would stop use form flashing mods and roms.

The main thing that *most* people want is the U firmware. Also, I'm not really sure exactly what knox does other than to not trip it.

If this works, this would be amazing. I don't want root, I don't want to even unlock my bootloader, I just want to put the U firmware on my T-Mobile S7.
Not to get off topic but what's the big deal about the u firmware is it Universal or is it unbranded with a lot less bloat. Or additional features?

It is unbranded, let's you uninstall bloat apps completely, and unlocks most us bands.

Have you successfully done this and does that not mean that downgraded bootloader is also unlocked. Or that we could flash another models bootloader to to the s7 edge
Maybe we been trolled?

"Yes, you can downgrade APG1 to APD8!!!!!" pd8 i guess is bootloader v3. if he downgrade to bp8,this thread thread will be on fire!!!
I'm pretty sure pd8 is v3 bootloader also. Shouldn't be any issues downgrading pg1 to pd8 regularly, both same version bl.

Tell me about it. I got my s7e yesterday. I'm pissed I took the Ota.
This tread here says we cant do it http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-s7-edge/help/downgrade-apg1-to-pd8-t3429642
but maybe op in our tread found a way @lincolnsxda
So guys, I've goy APD8 and have downloaded the update but haven't installed. Is there any way I can delete the update file, it's taking up space. Also why is the new updste so bad?

I'll be happy to try on the next couple days, but I'm having a hard time finding a good link to the U firmware that doesn't require payment. Anyone have a link?

It is not bad, but comes with a later bootloader which can limit some options.
