Huawei Mate 8 NXT-AL 10 Questions. - Mate 8 General

Hello,
Im a noob and I would like some closure please.
1. This week I got a 2 month old Huawei Mate 8 NXT-AL 10 64gb mocca version in excellent condition for £350, is that a good deal ?
2. Is there a way to find out if the phones bootloader is unlocked with out doing the whole procedure ?
3. I would like to unlock and root my m8 and would like the best and most clear way of doing this for this version which is currently running NXT-AL 10C00B168 ?
I have read some threads on here regarding this subject, but Im still kinda wary when push comes to shove.

hey my friend.. first congrats for your beast.. its a very good price.. to find out if your bootloader is locked or not.. kindly reboot your phone in fastboot mode... for that.. turn off your phone ana press the volume up and power button together... when the huawei logo appears.. hold just the volume up button and take your finger from the power button... to root your phone.. there are many thread for this... or flash directly a pre rooted rom from the development section

Thanks for the congrats and info, I tried it and it failed because I was low on battery so I put the charger in and tried it and it posts in to the huawei recovery with the emui logo and gives you the choice to download the latest recovery or reboot or shut down.
Is this whats supposed to happen and what should I do?
Thanks.

Update: I chose the download and recovery option and it started downloading the package from the server and its AL10C00B172 which is a upgrade, which is nice I hope, so is the a normal upgrade or is this an indication that the phone is unlocked/rooted?.

if the phone had an unlocked bootloader u wouldve noticed by now with every boot, it would show u a bright orange warning message saying that your bootloader is unlocked and ur phone thus unsafe to use. if u dont get that message at boot, that means ur bootloader is still locked
B172 on al10 is surely not a bad place to start with!
and btw, thats a very good price, especially if the phone really is in excellent condition, congratz on that great purchase!
enjoy the beast, u wont regret it

Yep your right, I was doing the unlocking procedure last night and it was quite frustrating to tell you the truth, because I ended up paying twice for the dc ukr credits because the first time I did not see the loader no. and closed the program to try again only to realize that I had to buy more credits to get it again which is a rip off, but now its done and im just about to root it.
Thanks for the reply, congratz and info.

I am now having problems installing super su, when I try to install it and I go into select storage I have these choices-
INTERNAL STORAGE (0MB)
MICRO SDCARD (0MB)
CUST (155MB)
USB OTG (0MB)
It only allows me to go into cust and I dont know why the others are empty?
Update: I formated it and now INTERNAL STORAGE is (54456MB) but I still cant flash super su because microsd is not a option.
What am I supposed to do ?

YYYEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, I have finally rooted it after wasting nearly the whole day doing it, and I managed it through fastboot cmds and not through twrp cmds.
Do you know how frustrating this was especially with out any feed back from any one on here on the procedure.

how do i unlock my bootloader on my Huawei mate 8 NXT- AL10C00B350SP01
And is it possible to change my phone apps and os language from chinese to English

M9 Users WARNING !!! DEAD,Killed MATE 9

Hello everybody. Today, i managed to kill my MATE 9.
In short :
MHA-L09C435B156
I wanted to update to a newer fw. Used on forum Guide for debranding, changed oeminfo to c636, flashed with offline_update ,dload method.
It failed at 31%. Tried to fastboot flash boot, userdata, system, fastboot ok,but still bootloop.
I had no twrp full backup.
So i tried this killer method:
Unpacked Update.app with huawei firmware extractor. Created a flashable zip.Flashed in twrp. At the end,i got errors that /system; /product ; /vendor, could not be mounted.
Rebooted the system, ignoring the 'no os installed' warning.
And since then, mate 9 no sign of life.
More details?
Battery was around 45% when started playing with firmwares
Kept power button for 30sec-1 minute, nothing
Plugged charger, usb,nothing
Disassembled the phone, disconnected battery (measured it first, and it was at 3.91v - every phone needs 3.7v to start up),reconnected battery, nothing.
In usb,no message,or sound of device connected.
So,it is really dead.
SO:
Don't make flashable zip with Firmware Extractor Tool.
Anyway, any place to buy Mate 9 Motherboard?
Oh, this is sad. Where did you read to do so?
We have functional guides. They work different.
I guess this what you did, may be similar to that what happened to Luca (shield Rom) when flashing dts.img.
He send the device to Huawei and got a new one. Maybe you are lucky, because this can also happen due to a manufacture error.
My device: Mate 9 superroot, Mediapad X2 GEM 701->703 B212 KangVIP (AJ mod)
well, since there are few methods to flash mate 9, i had that 5 second idea, to use that feature in this tool.
about getting another one..no warranty. bought it second hand but sealed box.no chance to get another one.
when i have time,i will try to revive it. i work in a gsm repair shop, so i think there could be few tools capable of reading mate 9 emmc
only thing i can think of to fix it is fh, im really surprised no one has found a way to spoof huawei servers to push firmware over erecovery.
can you get into erecovery? (button up + power, when vibrates, let go of power, or button up + down + power)
@Monster.Kali,
As @virtyx stated, erecovery may be an option. Also, if you are able to connect to Huawei HiSuite, it may be a second option.
no,it doesn't make nothing.
no erecovery
no fastboot
no recovery

Really?
That's amazing.
these phones are a total waste, the partitions are stupidly relying on each other. you cant even restore from within TWRP without the entire phone breaking.
well,i had all huawei mate models since first one, until mate 9.
i was happy with them
but this one....
huawei service center in my country, finaly accepted to fix it if i agree to pay, due to not having warranty.
i wait them to receive it, so we'll see.
they said they are able to reflash it,some factory method, without changing the main board.
good !

Would have been any chance to fix my hard brick mate 9 at home?
Thank you in advance
And many thanks for the others that tried to help me. Thank you all for your time.

If you plug it into the USB port of a computer and check device manager, and nothing happens, then no. You can't fix it.
ok, nothing happened when plugging in. so i'm lucky that huawei accepted it for fixing
thank you, sir
e-recovery doesnt work either way for mate 9. try holding vol down + power, while plugged into usb 3 port (not sure why usb2 doesn't work for this in vmware) but then use the hisuite.
One word @op and other pro members can I flash twrp and then phh for root? And then install custom rom.
I have warranty, in Samsung there is knox counter which detects and warranty void, is here is the same case likewise? Can I flash stock fw if dont like the custom rom.. @Tkkg1994 he is very awesome developer and also a best of the best person I know who tried his lvl best to answer and solve the each n everyone's problem but he left this device, hes working on S7/S7E.

Don't ever flash anything from huawei extractor.
I broke my device twice with this method. First I was so stupid and created a flashable zip of ALL partitions available on the firmware dump (my aim was to provide a full stock upgrade package with TWRP method). Well didn't end so well, my mate 9 was dead. Like dead forever. I sent it back and told them it suddenly didn't start after all. Well they couldn't fix it, couldn't check for unlocked bootloader, received a brand new one.
After that I thought, yeah maybe it was stupid to flash all paritions including xloader and more. So I wanted to test only with ONE file, the dts file. So I flashed it using the twrp .img flash option, rebooted. Dead. Same as you and same as me before, sent it back again, received a new one.
So that's the 3rd phone I got now, I decided to sell it. I mean what should I do with a phone that can't be rescued after a flash with one file? Nothing, I can't experiment, not test out anything otherwise it will be broken again.
Also the fact that huawei seemed to troll me about my open source requests (the wrote me back to google for the opensource kernel code) helped me to decide to ditch huawei.
You won't ever face this issues on samsung devices, not opensource requests for kernel, not for killing device suddenly. I have to say the huawei mate 9 is great if you use this device "as is" without trying to develop anything for it.
I hope I could explain you my point a bit better, I advice you to send the phone back with the same method as I did. :good:

that's sad....and disturbing for me as huawei fan. the biggest problem is the kirin processor. on snapdragons, we have qhusb, which most of time, solves any problem.
the biggest problem for me, is that i don't have warranty.
the official huawei service center in my country, accepted to fix it, after i told them that i pay any price. they told that are able to flash empty boards, like your 2 cases, and mine.
the worst part is they also mentioned pcb replacement. the phone is new, i can't find any pcb for it, so i can't refuse the fix
ok, they f***d me up.....
they wanted to replace the mainboard, at 454 eur.
i paid 505 eur for the full box sealed phone.
bye bye huawei. moving to xiaomi mi 6 plus....waiting it to be released.

bricked my M3 BTV-W09

Hello all, long time lurker here.
I was working with my new M3 and ended up bricked. I unlocked bootloader, installed twrp greatslon 3.0.2-0, did an advanced wipe with all options(don't ask me why because I don't know why other than I had been working on it for a long time and was tired.)
Here is where I am:
have access to twrp greatslon
no adb
no hisuite
no files on internal storage
I have HUAWEI MediaPad M3 8 Firmware BTV-W09 CC100B006 EMUI 4.1 Android 6.0
Thanks in advance for your assistance and replies.
Signed,
Dumbass
I can also enter fastboot/rescue mode from twrp reboot to bootloader.
I also downloaded a rom from greatslon for this device and tried to install to receive this message in attachment.

I tried that too. Not exactly sure if it was done correctly. I used the update.app file in the dload folder. I think there was an error because that requires erecovery and that's gone too. If you know definitive instructions I would appreciate a link.
Thanks in advance.
Download and extract in dload folder on a external SD CARD - (BTV-W09 ,C100B006, EMUI4.1+ANDROID 6.0):
http://download-c1.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=94471&version=380540&siteCode=de
Turn off tablet.
Press volume up + volume down + power
It should start the update process.
If you had B006 on device, you should flash only this version.

I've used update extractor and pulled the recovery files and flashed them using fastboot before.
That might work for you just to get recovery back.

Not expert here or I would not have bricked it to start with. Just determined.
After reading all these threads I am still stuck and not sure what to do.
My Mediapad M3 is imported from China so no warranty. Will have to fix it myself.
Currently the tablet is stuck at reboot loop, always stuck at the MediaPad logo, and reboot itself after it cannot boot up. The power button and volume buttons combination does not seem to work for me as well, as it never shut down completely. And worse of all, the LED is always flashing in red when charging, seems that it can't charge at all..
What I did was trying to upgrade to Nougat manually through dload folder, found that keyboard and many other things missing, trying to flash it back to Marshmallow, then this happened.
Any way to get out of this?

I'm in the same boat as you. Upgraded to Nougat, then flashed back down to Marshmallow through dload folder. But seems like the tablet can't bootup and hold a charge anymore. Did you bootloader unlock yours? If not, you should be able to bring it back for servicing (although it's in china).

I'm not even sure if the bootloader is locked or unlocked. Does it need to be unlocked to flash other region's rom? I ordered the tablet from China online, but it came with an international ROM (could be HK region). Are you able to fix yours?

Since you can't tell, your bootloader should be locked then. Once unlocked, Huawei shows a very big warning message everytime you power on the tablet. I bought mine from Malaysia, should be an Asian rom (i believe same as HK).
My bootloader was previously unlocked as i root my tablet. It got relocked after i ran the Marshmellow downgrade through dload. But the tablet just never boot up properly. I was able to get into fastboot though, and thought maybe i can unlock the bootloader again and flash each partition manually. But seems like unlocking the bootloader made it worse. Because after the unlock, i was prompted that data will be wiped and device will be restarted. After which, i could never get into the fastboot menu again. If i had kept it without the "bootloader unlocked" message, it should be possible to get it replaced at the service center easily.

I discovered super brick

Yes folks,
As I said, I discovered SUPER BRICK, TOTAL BRICK, COMPLETE FAILURE or whatever yoy want to name this new brick. It has been like this: I was following the instructions to update oreo in HONOR 8 LITE, at the end I had to write some codes in twrp (advance / terminal ...) so it was starting to do the last update (sd card update.zip) and by accident I touched the screen where it appears: REBOOT, so the phone restarted but the screen is not working when it tries to enter erecovery mode, so here is the list of my problems:
- it does not work: erecovery (so I can not recover the phone)
- fastboot works: when I install something (twrp or firmware, I have tried everyone of them) the phone does not start
- if I try to go to TWRP (after installing an oreo one): the screen seems to break and you can not see anything
Please, my phone is 2 months old, man I need to make it work again, I need it.
Help help help
You should post this in Honor 8 lite forum ...
But whatever, you said that fastboot works if so you can try to use huawei update extractor and flash system, boot, recovery, cust that *should* work

There is a way to fix that.. but... Its too complicated and hard to do..
Since your phone is new, you probably dont want to buy new.
This is going to cost you a bit.
First you will need to find honor 8 lite or p8 lite (if you say they are the same)
that is well.. dead, open it take out a memory chip on both phone and place chip from dead phone to yours. If you dont know how to do that take it to the repair shop and they should know how to do that.
As i sad its very hard and it costs, but it works if done properly.
I saved my friends phone like that, idk what he did but phone wasnt visible in adb, fastboot and recovery didnt work just blue screen.
Note:
This needs to be done very carefully or ypur phone will be 100% dead

DC Phoenix worked fine, it's been awesome, I installed the rom and my phone is alive, I wonder: why I couldn't do it with ADB? Why this software is so powerful? And finally, why nobody is making kind of software like this for free? I mean, dc phoenix must be like the software that Huawei technicians use in their lab and samsung has ODIN that is so powerful as well and is free.
Anyway, if anybody has a problem as mine, you have to pay but it has solution. By the way, I went to tech service and they did not do anything because I bought my phone in China and they could not touch more than european phones, but they told me something that made me think that my trouble had a solution: rewrite the rom and that point convinced me that DC Phoenix would work, and so did it. Thank you all for the info.
Same for me, how to fix please. Bricked following this "guide"
https://www.haky86.com/2018/05/12/install-emui-8-0-huawei-p8-lite-2017/
I was on official Emui Nougat, wanted Oreo, forced update with nocheck, everything is broke except fastboot.
When I want to flash his OreoTWRP.img with "fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk /path/to/img" it work but can't reboot to recovery.
I press Power + Vol+ but it reboot "phone untrusted" with Vol+ for going to eRecovery (usualy it's here you can shutdown the phone) but error mode.
Maybe the OreoTWRP work after my command but can't boot into it. Please help.

Bro my P8lite is also bricked, I accidentally wiped the EMMC then I showed it to a repairer and he somehow took me to fastboot mode, now I can't flash anything because that repairer has partitioned the EMMC and now it is showing 486mb total storage so no ROM is flashing because of size. Can you please give me your USERNAME and PASSWORD of DC Pheonix as you've already bought it. It will solve my issue and it will also save me some money.... I will be very thankful to you....
WAITING FOR A POSITIVE REPLY.
I bought it some time ago and it was a 72 hours license and it expired so I do not have anything from that situation. I will check my computer but I will not probably find anything.

I tell you something: I used emui erecovery to get everything back but now it does not work anymore, my phone is dead

Hello just looking at that pic is enough. That happens cause you installed the wrong firmware. Either get a proper nougat rom for your device and install boot, recovery and system images from fastboot or a oreo version. Either way that screen means its the wrong firmware version or wrong zone. for example you can be trying to install a europe rom in a asian device. hope this helps

Is it possible to unlock a P8 lite 2017 today ?

Hi,
I'm French and my level in english is not very high.
So I try to unlock my wife's phone but I havbe understood that it is no more possible with the classic way with huawei support.
Does exist another way tu do this ? Or is it definitivly impossible ?
No french forum can explain this.
As I can see many custom Roms here I keep a hope !
Hi, yes it should be still possible.
DC-Unlocker is what you need. The operation has a cost in credits, 4$ are necessary to unlock the device since it's the cost that DC asks from retrieve bootloader code from your device.
If you're definitely motivated to do it, it's your only chance but luckily it's an acceptable prize.

You can downgrade (idk if it is possible from emui 8 I don't even own this phone) and then you can follow this tutorial to unlock your bootloader (FOR FREE) https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/guide-unlock-bootloader-root-device-t3977067

Yeah, but not for Huawei P8 Lite 2017 version... I found this to be possible just for older phones (like the original P8 lite) which can be downgraded to Android 5. Newer ones can't be flashed with unsigned firmware (= firmware which is not straight from damn Huawei who decided not to provide the bootloader codes in the first place) so the only way apparently is to use paid software like DC-Unlocker as stated in this official XDA thread --> https://www.xda-developers.com/huawei-honor-unlock-bootloader-fee/

Unlocked the bootloader yesterday! I have Huawei P8 Lite 2017 PRA-LX1 and had latest Emui 8 build on it... Bought the code for 4€ from DC-Unlocker, and required around 2 minutes for unlocking. You can follow this guide --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xYybHAlWaQ
I tried so hard to get the code for free, and I know modding should not cost people money. But at the end of the day, I think those 4 euros were worth it
Yeah,4 Euros is ok and the only method!!!

Dear all,
sorry in advance for the silly question but in this regard I am dumb as a brick.
I run DC Unlocker, got the phone unlocked but now the only thing I have is the stock boot telling me the phone is unlocked and therefore cannot be trusted. From there on, I do not know how to procede in order to install TWRP recovery + LineageOS 17.1. I tried to install TWRP but it only runs after a factory reset with the "stock" Huawei eRecovery and every time I reboot (I even got to the point of installing LineageOS via fastboot) it is always back to square one.
Again, sorry, but the last phone I "worked on" was an HTC Desire HD some 8 years ago, therefore you can guess I lost some years of advancements
Thank you for any help regarding the steps I am missing, links to guides much much appreciated.

Don't fully get your question. Current situation is: Phone unlocked with DC Unlocker. When I switch it on I get the "phone is unlocked" message and if I don't do anything it starts booting stock OS, otherwise goes into Huawei eRecovery. If from Huawei eRecovery I do a full wipe, it starts TWRP. But even if I work on TWRP, when I reboot it is all back to "phone is unlocked". And again, and again. Hope it is clearer.
Thanks

Yeah I get it now, the problem is if you wanna go to twrp sometimes you have to press volume up and hold it until logo shows up, sometimes you had to hold both volume buttons etc. It's kinda wierd but the factory format from erecovery is in twrp disabled due to this because sometimes it wont let you boot until format (that triggers almost anything like fastly restarting to and from recovery etc.).
So keep calm it's "normal".

Just for your information, TWRP on this device is not fully supported. Every TWRP version you may find on XDA forums for this particular device is different. In my case TWRP back up doesn't work, wipe cache doesn't work, format data only breaks the system partition , flash GSI's from TWRP also doesn't work XDXD
The only thing I could do from TWRP was flash Magisk and hope that nothing will go wrong in the future ...XD got it? Flash and forget ???

Well, I didn't had any knowledge of it. Turns out my EMUI version was more recent one that's why I had more issues with TWRP.
And I was just sharing my experience with Honor 8 lite.

Thank you for your support. To reinstate some order in the procedure, yesterday I reinstalled EMUI from eRecovery and now I am back to "zero-point-one", aka right after DC Unlocker: when I switch on the phone it says it is unlocked and then launches stock OS. From now on what should I do to have in the end LineageOS 17.1 installed? Again, thanks for your time

Hi!
So, I installed Lineage OS 17.1 on my sister's phone just two days ago, maybe I can give you some advice being myself a beginner. So, first of all, I guess you have enabled OEM unlock (otherwise you could not flash TWRP I guess? I don't think this is the point anyway) If not so, go to Developer Options --> Enable OEM unlock and you will see both the bootloader and FRP unlocked.
The try to follow the DarkJoker360's Lineage OS 17.1 install guide step by step (don't forget to flash the los_patches_prague.zip!). The right version of TWRP is important too for compatibility issues, so install the version he provided.
Anyway, as @DunoCZ pointed out, for entering TWRP recovery you have to press Volume UP button + Power button and keep them pressed until you get to the TWRP. Otherwise, what the device does is either booting up or go to the screen like "Press Volume UP for at least 3 seconds to go to erecovery" and if you do that, it will go into Huawei's own recovery.
Another thing is... Did you do a full wipe (system, data, cache, dalvik/art cache) in TWRP before trying to flash the new ROM? (don't just do the factory reset in Huawei's recovery, I read somewhere it doesn't wipe everything like the advanced one in the custom recovery)

Because as you wrote here, the stock OS booted up before you installed stock from again via Huawei erecovery. So my wild guess is that the wipe you did before flashing Lineage OS wasn't a full wipe?
---------- Post added at 10:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:06 AM ----------
By the way, after installing Lineage OS 17.1 I found out there were indeed some very important problems in the ROM as noticed by other testers too...
The reason why I changed the ROM on the device was mainly because of two reasons:
1) Short battery life
2) Not enough memory
And unfortunately, on Lineage OS 17.1:
1) Battery life not good enough. Unless you fix it by patching a new kernel, be always wary of apps running on your device etc., the battery ran short even after replacing the internal battery. Alas. Besides, I wanted something stable for my sis who threatened me to buy an iPhone if I couldn't fix her phone lol
2) Very big problem with memory: I couldn't find a way to write to the SD card as other users pointed out. It is read by the device, but apparently it is read only and even with root permissions I couldn't find a way to obtain write permission for the apps. Perhaps some options in fstab mount file should be changed, but honestly, I tried with my below-average knowledge of Linux and gave up :crying:
But then... I tried Lineage OS 15.1 and this one worked much, much better. Battery life is super good and has the adoptable storage option for the SD card! This way, instead of those 9 gigs of memory now the phone has more than 70! And honestly, this ROM solved both the most important problems of this phone
(PS: sorry for the long posts lol)
(PPS: if you decide to switch to 15.1, remember to decrypt the memory following this post otherwise you won't be able to install more that a bunch of apps on the phone. Besides, remember to flash Dil3mm4 's TWRP recovery)

For anyone having issues changing from CN to NA ROM on the 5S

There's a little story i needed to rant about before i wrote this guide so read if you'd like if not tldr; will be down below
NO ROOT OR BOOTLOADER OR ANY FORM OF CODING NEEDED FOR THIS FIX, THIS METHOD WE WILL BE USING OTG AND THE RENAMED STOCK NA 8.07 ROM FOR THE 5S GOING FROM CN 6.23
Requirements - NA 8.07 rom from the official redmagic website
- A Computer/laptop
- USB stick (mine was usb2.0)
- OTG adapter (if you have any old samsung phone boxes look in them there's usually one)
Hey guys! First of all im terrible with technology, i havent touched a computer in over 15 years before 4 days ago.. So i bought this phone 4 days ago as i needed a decent phone with a snapdragon soc (samsung uses trash exynos in Australia). The shop i bought it from didnt tell me it was the cn version and thought he would just have NA version as thats what it says australians will recieve on the official site.
So i did some research and found out we can easily change roms using the local update thingy so i dl'ed the 8.07 NA rom and it would load to 25% then freeze, reset and nothing would happen.
So i tried the OTG method, same thing again, 25% then crash and reset. So at this point im starting to get pissed, i downloaded the latest 5G NA rom and tried to otg method that rom to the phone. It loaded to 80%, crashed and hard bricked my phone to the point of where it was corrupt, couldnt get into recovery and couldnt factory wipe,
I was however, happy to see the boot logo had changed to english though so i didnt give up, 3 days, 3 f##ing days i was trying to research flash guides, recovery guides, root guides, downloaded about 100 usb drivers because i wasnt updating to the right drivers at the right times when plugging in and unplugging my phone, i tried unbrick tools and when trying to fastboot it was saying the password was incorrect (fastboot oem nubia_unlock NUBIA_NX659J is what worked for me to unlock fastboot. all the guides i read said the fastboot cmd was
fastboot oem nubia_unlock NUBIA NX659J) nothing worked. Luckily i had gone into dev options after reading a guide and unlocked oem unlocking and usb debugging before the phone bricked as this is what helped unbrick my phone. I had to individually flash each .img file from the CN rom back to the phone.
I didnt know how to code or do cmd thingys before i bought this phone. Now i could f## join anonymous im that good LOL but yeah i managed to unbrick, wipe, and flash the NA 8.07 rom to my CN 5S using OTG. You wanna know what i did to make it work? I can tell you right now it didnt need a f##ing 4 day crash course on hacking and coding.
TLDR; bought CN rom 5S brand new from shotty phone shop, i couldnt get the NA rom to load past 25% on the local update so i went through hell and back.
I highly highly recommend unlocking developer options in your phone, turn on oem unlocking and usb debugging before doing any updates or experiments with this phone, just incase anything goes wrong with any updates
Solution:
- Always back up your phone before anything you will need to do a factory wipe after doing this
- Change the name of the NA 8.07
NX659J-update.zip folder you downloaded to "update"
- Copy that update.zip folder to a freshly formatted fat32 USB stick, do not unzip and copy. It has to be the zipped folder then safely eject the usb from the PC
- Hold the Volume up button and the power button until the screen turns on, once the screen turns on release the power button and you should reach a blue screen with 2 language selection buttons, use the volume keys to navigate and the power button to interact.
- After choosing language you will see "choose a package" and some other buttons, this is recovery mode.
- select "choose a package" and plug in your OTG adaptor and USB stick
- Select OTG method
- Find your "update.zip" folder it should be right there
- Start update and keep an eye on the phone incase any errors pop up it should take about 5 minutes to update and it will stop at certain points (stopped at 80% for a good 30 seconds for me) for bigger files so dont stress if the numbers aren't moving. I was tapping the screen so fast with anxiety at 80% hahah
- After the update go back to recovery and wipe data/cache partition and reboot
- Enjoy your goog apps
unlocking dev options and using the oem unlock option is not necessary for our device.
Unlocking the bootloader also corrupts the fingerprint sensor data, making fingerprint break.
when you need to flash a rom and the normal method does not work, flashing though recovery normally works.
as you have a CN variant of the phone. note you cannot use the NFC function. as there is no NFC chip on CN variant devices.

fastboot flashing lock or fastboot oem lock I think are the commands to relock your bootloader. which after a wipe should restore your fingerprint.
you can then follow my TWRP and ROOT guide on XDA here for the 5S and not have flashing problems again.

all 3 regions had the exact same hardware.
with the exception of the NFC chip on the CN units.
if you can live without NFC the phone should be the same and function correctly with any of the roms once you're able to flash them.
its just that there will be an NFC option in the rom, it just wont activate, since you dont have the actual hardware.
if you were to give the phone back look into buying it from redmagic directly. as Nubia's Warranty only covers direct sales, it does not cover any 3rd party website this includes places like Nubia store on Aliexpress. you won't get official warranty from there.
only the redmagi.gg or nubia homepage which normally directs you to redmagic.gg will support official warranty so this is something to consider.
but also, as you've unlocked the bootloader, flashed things and what not. if the seller knows or finds this out they can refuse a refund as you've modified the system.
good luck either way.
