If you are rooted, use Root Explorer from the playstore.
I have used it for over 5 years and I have no problem opening and seeing all the files and folders on my s6 edge plus phone.
Good luck,
Have a great day.

You cannot upload the file from it's current location, copy the file into your internal SD card first.
If that don't work then make sure to check the attributes of the file is set to R/W READ & WRITE.
Also check your file manager's permission & attribute settings, it should be set to allow read & write.
Good luck, have a great day

i know this. but its r/w so it should work but it don't work fine,
but in the past i had it to that root browser don't copy the files completley (for example my account files) from sd card to /data/data/jp.gungho.padEN/files so some one said to use solid explorer and that worked but now it is the other way arround, it copy fine to /data/data/jp.gungho.padEN/files but not from there to sd card, it copy the files but i can not open them in a bin editor

Don't know why people are so happy with Root Explorer it's very nice but lacks a lot of features.
I've done these thing with Total commander without problems. Try that one.
ps blind me missed the part about Dropbox. Did you try to put it in (by example) your downloads folder and upload from there? Goodluck anyway!

Help with wpa_supplicant and Ad-Hoc Wireless

I am following the instructions as per the below thread to allow my Acer a500 see my Nokia N900 for tethering purposes.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033314
I have copied the wpa_supplicant file over the one thats already there.
Now when I open the Terminal Emulator to try ADB remount it comes with an error saying device not found.
I have the wifi turned off, I also have Root Explorer, but I found File Manager HD quite handy.
Now after trying the instructions I now dont have wifi - it comes with an error.
I have tried copying the stock wpa_supplicant file across, with no success.
Can someone please help.
to get AD-Hoc working you first need root and either root explorer (paid app but worth the money) or es file explorer (free but you have to enable root privaleges inside the app. its under the settings menu)
1. navigate to system/bin and copy wpa_supplicant
2. past this to your sd card as a backup
3. rename wpa_supplicant to wpa_supplicant.old
4. extract the file from the download and past it into the system/bin folder. (should be wpa_supplicant)
4. Long press on the file once copied
6. select Permissions and set to User: RWE, Group & Others:RE only
This is the easiest way to fix this... make sure in root explorer you set to rw at the top left in order to rename copy or past into this directory..
Good luck
this is the file .

Thanks for that, your a genius.
Now that my device can see my phone, I cannot see any web pages.
Is there something else I need to do?
That is very odd .. try rebooting the phone and the tablet..
also try on the tablet
go to settings / applications.. go to the web browser.. and clear cache and data..
is only thing i can think of ..
never had a issue other then my cell sometimes get hung on a cell tower and a reboot fixes this.. .
try connecting another wifi device to the phone to determine if its the tablet or phone..
I ended up changing the program I use to tether on my N900 and now works a treat.
Once again, thanks for your help
Thanks erica_renee . Worked right on point !

I downloaded es file explorer and enabled root exploring as well as "Mount File System" (which is supposed to make the system writable) and with or without the mount file system, I cannot find the System file nor bin. I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 Wifi Only. It's running Honeycomb 3.2. Any suggestions?
Not my credit
This fix is not from me.. I just re posted something that has been around since our tablet was released.. I would say give that person the credit. I am not sure who actually did it .. I think that file originally came from the ZOOM FORUM.
Anyway Just wanted to make sure that was POINTED OUT.I only know from what i have read for my own personal use.
Thanks All ... Erica Renee

check you su. update the su root binaries . make sure busybox is installed and updated..
you can check the last two with root checker . a app on the market..
There iss also somewhere in the settings. that show a mount point . .something like /mnt/sdcard.
this should be just a / in there to have access to the system folder. I dont have es file explorer installed as i did not like it.. but i do remember having to change this defalt mount or folder option.. Astro file manager and some others also have this defalt . You can also keep going back and will take you there ..
Even though Titanium Backup says I have BusyBox, another app I tried to install said I did not and needed to install, so I went to the market to install and BusyBox says I need to perform Nand Unlock before installing BusyBox. Can you point me in the direction for doing that. I have the Galaxy Tab 8.9 Wifi Only. I see alot of stuff out there but not sure if it's right for my tab or if the instructions are universal to android users. How did you do Nand Unlock?

[Q] Cannot delete some folders

So I have a few folders which cannot be deleted. ES file explorer just says xxx cannot be deleted. I can rename the folder but not move or delete. I'm guessing there is a problem with one of the files in the folder but there are loads.
I origionally rooted the nexus 7 so I could use sixaxis but found too much lag compared with plugging in the controller so decided to return to a stock image. I did an app+data+sd card backup with nexus tools and it was after doing this I have had this problem. (also most of my games which I backed up lost their saves - wheres my water, dead trigger + others is this normal for these games?)
Any advice much appreciated
(oh since applying the stock image I no longer have root)
Could be a file permissions problem, try rooting your device again then changing permissions on the files to give yourself full read/write access to these files.
If this doesn't work you could try deleting them through the command line, but this would also require you to root your device again.
Hope I helped.
Hi thanks for your suggestion. I completely forgot I posted this. Anyway I rooted my device using the toolkit and all worked well. But I still cannot delete many folders and files and also some apps don't seem to be able to save properly.
Does anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong? Apart from this the system is stable and I would rather not do a fresh install because of all the games I have (long downloads and I have had problems backing up and restoring saves in the past) is there a way to just set all the files and folders on my phone to read / write (es file explorer reports these files have the required permissions but maybe setting them might do something)

Need help with understanding mount-points, folder structure and file system rights...

Hi everyone,
I need your help. I sometimes face strange issues with my Nexus 4 (Stock Room, Rooted, Matrix Kernel v5). Yesterday I wanted to copy a apk-file for installation on my phone from my home-server. I use ES File Explorer for that. I failed to copy the apk-file to /sdcard/folder-name (operation failed). then i navigated to /data/media/0/folder-name and tried it from there, also it didn't work.
i then copied the file to /sdcard/download and was able to copy it to that and to install it.
i don't really understand why it behaves that way, i was always able to go to /sdcard/folder-name and do what i want. i also noticed another strange thing. i connected my phone via USB (MTP-mode) to the PC and uploaded a few GB of MP3s to it (Folder: Music).
when browsing this folder with ES File Explorer, I cannot delete anything from that folder /sdcard/Music. THOUGH it reports "deletion successful" the files or folders do not get deleted but just remain on the internal SD-card. i could only delete the music successfully via "/data/media/0/Music".
who can explain briefly WTF is going on? i obviously do not really understand the concept and logic behind this. is there a maximum file/path length that must not be exceeded?
thanks in advance and best regards,
hallu
need to bump this, sorry...
does anyone have any idea as to why this phone is behaving the way it is?
I use root explorer and have ZERO issues. That includes pulling apk's.
Try a different file explorer to see if that makes a difference so at least you can determine if the issue is just app specific and not something else.
Check to see of ES isn't mounting certain folders with RW permissions.
Also the actual internal storage is /data/media/0/ so /sdcard/ is just a symlink to that folder. ES seems to be having problems with the symlinks.

Root explorer, change permissions
so it worked, i changed premissions but stil when i open it it either says NULL (in hexedit) or "opened in Read only mode) in the text reader
ive no idea what to do
i cant even explort the file to my pc.. i moved it to DOWNLOAD folder and when i open the folder in the PC the file is like invisivle (and yes invis files and folders are set to show)
which files are you trying to bring over? i would sugget you start with a decent explorer first. solid explorer for instance.

Android 11: Can't see folders with external file explorer

Hi,
if i try to see a sub-folder of Android, my external file explorer (Solid explorer, Root explorer) only show an empty folder. The folder i try to see is this: Android/data. Are there certain restrictions of Android 11, which external explorer can't deal with? I don't have this problem with the intermal explorer and - surprise, surprise - with Total Commander (which i don't like so much...).
Anybody knows a solution or workaround to let other explorers look into these Folders?
Cheers
Clark
Seems like Google decided to restrict access to the Android/Data folder to "approved" applications.
Some other users said that Google Files (what a surprise) and Samsung Files work properly.
I usually use a root explorer, wich works fine, but otherwise most file managers probably won't be able to access the folder for a while.
Add MiXplorer and SD Maid to the list of working file managers. Hoping Solid Explorer gets updated soon!
I'm using root explorer just fine
I am rooted so if you're not then just root is easy

Try Solid Explorer and check if you see /sdcard/Android/Data/. Some file managers work and others don't even if you are rooted.

I'll be honest mate I've never needed anything else since root explorer was released.
Absolutely hate solid lol. Only other one I used to use was called Linda I think, G1 days
Xplore works, Solid Explorer 2.88 works as well
Using some of the recommended file explorers above didn't work for /sdcard/Android/Data/. Most of them were able to see /internal/Android/Data/ though. My Note 10+ wasn't rooted, and I wasn't planning on rooting due to the downfalls. I was able to see the files by mounting the SD card in Windows.

Yeah that's the last one I tried before mounting it to the PC. Now the question is which of these file explorers I should keep and finally replace ES File Explorer.

My vote would be Mixplorer. They have a few different themes, as well as add ons.
