Galaxy s7 edge bluetooth audio - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi,
I own a samsung galaxy s7 edge and beats by dre (no haters pleas) bluetooth headset.
While using my iphone/mac and my beats, the output volume is sufficient at around 65%, while on my new S7 edge the output is too low even on 100%...
I tried using adapt sound and it didn't help.
I own the Exynos version.
I'm am so disappointed..
is there any way to resolve this issue?

Beats by Dre is optimized for Apple products.
Like when I use my PowerBeats2 with my previous 6s it shows how much battery the headphones has but on android it doesn't.
But no problems so far with the s7e when it comes to sound being too low.
Have you tried using your headphones with another android device?

Yes I have tried it with a nexus 6p and it was as good as with the iPhone...
If I use my beats with an aux cable, everything works well...

Hey Man I was having the same issue and come to find out the resolution is so easy that we overlook it. You have to cut the volume up physically on your phone then use the volume toggle on the headphones itself and turn that up and that will fix the issue. I also reset my bluetooth headset before doing so. My issue was with the Powerbeats2.

Yes we were over looking! Thanks!!! I have the Powerbeats3.

Hmmm. I find that Bluetooth is WAY too quite on two different car stereos using my s7 edge. No problems with my old Asus zenfone2 or my company iphone. The built in equalizer for the Samsung seems to be quite basic. It doesn't let you create separate profiles for speaker, headphones or Bluetooth like most other phones do. Is there anything out there to help this without running a custom Rom?

not really, at least you need root

Dre Beats audio on SGS2...

Just a quick question.. It would seem this is mainly software that can be used on other devices? Is there any chance we could get this on our sgs2's...?
Please, mate, just look around. There's been 3 topics on this already.
Bottom line is it isn't possible, since it's for the HTCMusicplayer. And on top of that, it's just an equaliser.

Isn't the audio hardware on the Galaxy S2 way too ****e to even want to do this? I mean with headphones in I can hear a hiss when I scroll! This was discussed in the Anandtech review of the S2:
http://www.anandtech.com/show/4686/samsung-galaxy-s-2-international-review-the-best-redefined/13
It's not as **** as that with "Equalizer" app from "Smart Android Apps, LLC", simply the best from his category of the market actually, and you will have the EQ everywhere, not only on a music player

I believe its speaker hardware along with the equalizer. And that means jack **** when you're using the headphone output.
And seriously, Beats are horrible and overpriced and you can get sound quality as good or better for 1/3 of the prices. We're not repeating the sentence for nothing, we know what we're talking about because some of us actually spend $500 and above just for headphones instead of ****ting it down on Beats.

Again, I point out the SGS2 audio output is garbage. I know you didn't buy the good headphones primarily to use with this (or any) phone. If anything, having any personal set of standards for audio quality will bring you great shame and sadness when you try listening to the sound that comes out of the 3.5mm jack on this device.

Sennheiser, beyerdynamic, both have models that thrash beats by dre for considerably less money, a well as models that will blow your mind (albeit for a price).
Of course, any good pair of headphones are also going to expose every flaw in both your music and the yamaha chip in the sgs2.

i own a pair of akg k518
i had to turn down the bass a bit and they sit pretty thight in the first weeks if you have a bigger head.
but despite of that they deliver a very good quality for the price
i can recommend them (although im not shure about the price range of the beats)

Question for LG G2 owners, regarding external speaker decibels

One of the things which hold me from buying this phone, is the speakerphone decibel levels.
In the past, I had some phones with very low speakerphone levels, which led for many missed notifications (it happened mostly with notifications and not phone calls, because notification sound is much shorter).
I've seen GSMARENA's comparison of spkearphone decibel levels (attached image), and was quite shocked to see just how quiet the LG G2 speakerphone is. It is 10 decibels lower than the Galaxy S4 (10 decibels translate to twice as loud, for human hearing).
So, in your day to day experience with the LG G2, do you find yourself in situations that you missed a notification because of the quiet speakerphone ? how much of a problem are we talking here ? can you compare the notification volume to your last phone and conclude this is a real problem ?
notification sound is pretty loud enough imo.
Havent missed any notifications in loud places.
Video sound is a little quiet, but not the notification sounds
Sent from my LG-D801 using xda app-developers app
Yeah, it's a little quiet, but there's a post somewhere around here about how to increase your speaker volume above factory specs if you're rooted... Haven't done mine yet because I'm not rooted yet
Well, I'm quite particular about this, thus I sold off the Xperia Z after 11 days of usage.
As for the LG, I'm running it for 2 weeks and still going good.
I did the hack as mentioned above and it's pretty much decent. Videos are pretty darn loud for me (MX player, using HW+ decoder).
Something to note is that the speaker placement is at the bottom. I feel that's the best place for a speaker on a phone. It will face out when you insert your phone headfirst. Also when laying on the desk, the speakers are not blocked (as opposed to the S4). All these help in delivering sounds more efficiently.
I've had the phone for a good 2 weeks now and haven't missed many notification or calls at all. The ringtones and notification tones that come with the phone are plenty loud.
Also, I agree with MasK about the bottom-facing speaker. It doesn't seem to get muffled at all sitting on a desk or even on a pillow on my couch, unlike my old RAZR MAXX.

You might say that I have been known to be a bit hard of hearing, but I have not really had any issues with the speaker or speaker phone with the G2. I have add these 2 apps:

Ok guys,
I have the LG G2 D802.
There are 2 speaker grills, one on each side of the Micro USB port on the bottom of the phone. I noticed that only the Right Speaker on the phone is working. The Left one is not. My question is, DOES THE PHONE HAVE 2 SPEAKERS OR IS THE SPEAKER GRILL ON THE LEFT JUST FOR SHOW?

Has Samsung improved there stock earphones ?

Till dated Samsung note 123 all of them had poor quality earphones can we expect some good quality stock earphones out of the box.

People actually use the stock earphones!?
Mine have always been kept in the box, I have a semi-decent pair of earphones that I use daily. To be honest though, I doubt any phone ships with earphones that are actually worth using over even a fairly cheap pair of third party set.
So I wouldn't advise you rely on the Note 4 shipping with anything impressive!

Isnt it up to each carrier? I know T-mobile is cheap and never include any headphone.
Consider it a bonus if they do. Highly unlikely that you will get a set of earbuds worth talking about. I personally don't care for them since I have my own Bluetooth earbuds.

I both have note 2 and note 3 headphones also s4 and s5 headphones and i love them. For me note 2 and s5 headphones are the greatest. Note 2 headphones has great bass and treble balance. ( Actually it has the best bass over all sammy headphones ). Using them with 63 db kernel headphone boost and viper4android for clarity. It has poor cable quality though. This is my third in two years. S5 headphones are great too with 60 db of course. Music gets too loud on 63 db. Note 3 headphones are also great with 60db boost. In all of them s4 has the crappiest ones. Although it 'doesnt suck' at 57db i wouldn't prefer them.

With ear buds it sounds louder with high impedance cans it comes alive since they have juice to drive. I also feel it has better volume steps with it on probably as it's hardware volume vs software at that point?

Galaxy Buds: issues!!?

The Galaxy Buds fortunately came for free with my S10+, otherwise I will regret buying them, are crap, when doing a Whatsapp call one of them stop working and I need to put them in box, close it, and connect again. A pair of buds that costs more than US$100 that has this terrible behavior, terrible.
Sambug is going from worse to much worse, they are selling buggy stuff... (the s10+ deep battery not working well... and so on)
UPDATE 2 (4-APR-2019): The ASCA firmware update seems or made a positive change, now I have much less skipping and interruptions, I will continue trading this Buds but the connection really improved with the latest S10+ firmware

It's probably because the bluetooth settings for the buds are configured lower on the S10. It's a weird problem, but if you want, try looking either at the bluetooth settings or the gear settings for volume control. Otherwise, turn on Dolby Atmos sound; it boosts sound levels.

Yeah I already tried Dolby and adjusted the EQ settings in the Galaxy Buds settings....nothing worked. I'm going to try factory resetting.

The old app in my note9 had an additional volume control so even if the phone was all the way up there was still some additional gain to be had. But in the s10+ app, it's not there. I wish mine were a bit louder too.

Factory resetting fixed my problem......
Have had them for over a week or so, no issues with disconnects nor Whatsapp. Works perfectly fine.
Great buds. Just wish they were a little louder
I'm surprised by the bad experiences with these. I've had mine since last Friday. So far, I've had no issues with the battery life being crap or disconnecting. In fact, I've had the opposite. Battery life been very solid and they immediately connect to my s10+ seemingly as soon as I lift them out of the case.
Sound quality is also very good.
Now, would I spend $150 on them? No...but that being said, you'd be very hard pressed to see me spend anywhere near that kind of money on ANY headphones.
I guess it's entirely possible that some got a bad batch or something...

Mine work great

I can't figure out why my Buds are loud when played on my Note 8 and S8+, but I can barely hear them on my S10+. I have the volume rocker all the way to the right.

After reading online the buds are to be set in the gear wearable app : EQ, parameters, configuration, etc.
I got mine today and after 2 tryouts have considered selling them as 1/ I have issue to wear/adjust properly in the my ears (hard to go thru the canal), 2/ the sound quality seems worse than my Jays not needing charging (worse than my previous klipsch) and they came in white.. like the silicon case they offered me for the delivery delays that came in.. black.. .. for a green S10+...
Indeed, volume is natively less with the buds I had to go max compared to the Jays (but I didn't take the time to open samsung gear/weatable)
They're not bad. I got the Pamu Scroll on an Indigogo special and they're really a top of the line contender. Way more bass and depth of sound. I'm glad to have the Buds as backup and think I have to put time in to optimize.
