Supported SDCard standards - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

hey everyone,
does anybody know which sd card standards are supported by the s7 edge? UHS-I, UHS-II ..... I can't find any informations about this.
This leads to the question if it's just "burning money" to buy a hight quality sd card with UHS-II standard because the S7 can't utilize the performance the card offers or if it can utilize it and it would be a performance win to have such a good sd card.
regards,
mika

S7 tops out at a little under 80mb/s read and about 60mb/s write. So fast uhs 1 cards are enough.
If you buy a sandisk extreme pro (uhs 1 rated 95 MB read), DON'T format it. It will slow down the write speed a lot. The sd formatter Programm helped a little but still about 5-8mb/s slow than before at write speed in a1 sd bench. Androbench didn't change much.

The BGR link is recommending that "...if you’re looking for flagship performance from your memory for these particualr [sic] smartphones, this is the best card to purchase right now"
Considering that everything we know right now indicates that UHS-II is not implemented (note the distinction between implemented and supported) it would appear that their opinion is about as good as their proof-reading.

help me to buy new Micro SD Card

i bought one samsung 64gb class 10 for my s4 on amazon and is working very good
Micro SD cards.
Most Micro-SD cards are fairly close to 'identical', except when comparing them to speed of storage and quality of information exracted.
You should look for the HQ type, where you obtain the highest quality for your store MP3 and .jpg images and video.
Most newer cards are similar in capacity, so now you should look into storage quality of the media. the 'HQ' label indicates a 'higher level' of quality for media uploads/playback. and should also be identical for data storage/retreival also.
There are other formats of this type to look into if you are digging into the depths of how the information is stored/retreived, but then you are going to need to query the manufacturer about these deails, as they are not placed on the labels of the SD cards being currently sold.
There are cards for 'HQ', 'HS' and bulk storage, you only need to determine your actual needs, and how much you need the added 'quality', although many, including myself, would opt for the 'HQ' variety, just to be certain I get the best results from my stored data.
As always, your mileage may vary....YMMV.
Good luck hunting!
What you need to do is just lookup "microsd card benchmarks" and there should be a web site comparing a bunch of them.

San disk is the best, however they are more expensive, you prob want something class 10, also i don't suggest buying from ebay only when buying sd card, because there is a scam going on right now with sd cards on ebay, also a little side note if you have a samsung devise then i would get a Samsung sd and so on.

Yeah don't get them on eBay. Every SD card I got from eBay had some sort of storage issue. Not recording the data and what not. I've got a Galaxy S4, and I just went out and bought the first Samsung 32gb micro SD class 10 card I could find. I do want to upgrade to the fastest 64gb one though soon.

[Q] Which Note 3 compatible 64GB Micro SD Card to get?

I've read mixed results with the overall Samsung Galaxy series of phones and Sandisk micro sd cards.
I was thinking of getting this 64GB Class 10 card:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/SanDisk-64GB-microSD-Class-10-Ultra-Card/23350707
But didn't know what/if any the current people already with Note 3s are using. Some people say to stick with the Samsung 64GB version as there are issues with some phones only being able to read exFat.
I just wanted to make sure that the card I buy actually works with the Note 3 when it arrives and not have to deal with returns and buying multiple makes/manufacturers of cards until I find a working one that lets me use all 64GB.
Thanks!

From what I read 64GB is the max that the Note 3 can handle at the moment, and having 96GB of data storage capability is pretty damn snazzy to me :victory:

Maaan, you're getting the world's most fastest advanced phone that has not 1, 2, 3 but 4 world firsts on it (4K recording, 3GB ram, MicroUSB 3.0, 24bit audio), the bleeding edge of technology, and you put a ultra 64gb class 10 card in there? forget about it...step up to the big boys, you have to get this one...
(won't let me link, i removed it, but google "world's fastest microsd" and it's a sandisk card)
Its the Sandisk Extreme 64GB MicroSD card...it's the world's fastest sd card, it's stats are 80MB read, 50MB write, but actual tests have shown 96MB read,.and 61MB write, which destroys any other class 10 sd card...class 10 is 10MBps, this card is hitting 5 to 9 times that depending on read/write
Look at this review
(I cant believe they wont let me link, its by legit reviews, just google it)
It's perfect for 4K recording, USB 3.0 transfers, etc..
With those read speads you won't see the lag the ultra 64gb card have when you open gallery, and i know because i had one in my note 2 and it took a bit for it to load all my pics, bet it doesn't with this behemoth...Im selling my ultra and pony up the difference for the $99 extreme
The fastest microsd card in the world for the fastest phone in the world...perfect match...

never heard of it?
from samsung or sandisk?
I had been a Sandisk loyal user until my S4 which caused hiccups, lags, mysterious file disappearance, random reboots, unable to transfer large files and many more.....
I then switched to Transcend MicroSD on my S4 and all the above problems disappeared. I've been using an old 8GB Sandisk on my Note 3 and so far haven't experienced any problems yet. I am awaiting for the 128GB Microdisk SDHC coming out soon and really make use of that 1080p screen.

Maximum Capacity SD Card for Note 3

Can anyone confirm what is the maximum capacity SD card that can use with Note 3, planing to upgrade my 64Gb to higher capacity.
64gb is the reported max however i have heard that some have used 128gb card with success... not sure on anything else though (like 256gb card)
is there any links or sharing from users to confirm this ?
I tested a 128 GB in a store here and it mounted, but if I'm able to go beyond 64 GB of storage with that card I don't know, if not I suppose I could divide it into two 64 GB cards.

Here is an adaptor to fit a standard sd card. You can theoretically go up to 2Tb but I have a 128gb card working in my Note 3 and older SG note 10.1...
SDXC spec is up to 2TB and all modern phones should be able to handle that no problem. The reason they advertise 64GB is that is the maximum size actually available in microSD format at release, but when larger ones come around or you use a full size SD with adapter as long as it is SDXC it will work. My guess would also be that theoretically a new SD protocol could be added at the kernel level but this phone won't be receiving that update as SDXC has many years left to go until we reach 2TB SD cards.

The Note 3 can recognize up to 2TB. All the new storage technology has so far been backward compatible, so the since released 128, 200 & 264GB SD cards should work fine. 2013+SD Drivers will all be backward compatible till 2TB.
64gb, anything else may work, for awhile but then it will start showing that the files on it are gone. If you use a card bigger than 64gb don't save anything to it that you use or want to save. Shame because the note 3 is definitely one of Samsung better phones!
I learned the hard way, with 2 sdcards from 2 different manufacturers, 64gb sdcard, maximum.

Either something wrong with your phone, rom or sd card.....
I use 128gb sd cards in all of my phones with no problems, and they are pretty much full too. Everything works and no problems.
Have backups of roms, APK's I don't wish to hunt for again (they update after install so no problem running old APK files), music and video files. Pictures, both from camera and stuff I've got elsewhere, text files, both for work and play. All works fine.
I even dabbled with a 200gb Sandisk but put that in another newer device...

There are numerous people on here, and on other forums, that also has had issues with the Samsung cards. SD cards are a hit and miss these days.
I personally went for the latest Samsung pro 64GB one that was released today on Amazon. Hoping it can last for a long time, but we'll see.

SD Cards - what do you use, what is best/fastest?

What do you all use, I'm interested to see what is the best for speed & capacity,I don't know if it supports the new UFS standard or if any of those cards exist (or fit) yet.

As far as I am aware, the S8 does not have the hardware to support UHS-2 or 3 so there will be no benefit in using UHS-3 cards. They will be compatible but will just operate as UHS-1 cards.

Samsung 256gb Evo+. They have it on Amazon with all the specs. The phone doesn't take advantage of the full speed though.

I'm using the SanDisk 200Gb card that came with my LG V10 - didn't want to wait for the 256 Gb from Samsung.

Same here. I forgot I had that card from my V10. Works perfectly.

What do you all use, I'm interested to see what is the best for speed & capacity,I don't know if it supports the new UFS standard or if any of those cards exist (or fit) yet.

I currently use the samsung 128gb pro plus UHS-1 U3
It's pretty fast, it's rated for 95MB/s read and 90MB/s write but the s8+ can't fully utilize those speeds.

As far as I am aware, the S8 does not have the hardware to support UHS-2 or 3 so there will be no benefit in using UHS-3 cards. They will be compatible but will just operate as UHS-1 cards.

Right, the s8 doesn't support UHS-II but it does support U3
Which are two separate things.
got 256GB Samsung card for free with N7. Fast enough to play or record 4k video without any issues. Got about 65 MB read, 40MB Write on the phone, it runs faster on computer, I think I got 100MB read if I'm not mistaken.

You are mixing up u3 with uhs3, that card is u3 it's graded for 4k 30fps recording.qnd it's fully supported by s8. I ordered SanDisk 128gb extreme still waiting for it

No I'm not, there is no such thing as UHS-III, it's only UHS-I OR UHS-II at the moment and the s8 only supports UHS-I not UHS-II, the speed class U1 U2 and U3 is completely different and are the minimum speed requirements for that class card, U1 is minimum 10MB/s, the U2 is minimum 20MB/s and the U3 class card is minimum 30MB/s. And the s8 supports U1 U2 and U3 like I said in my original post.

Ok I think you misunderstand UHS and U, they are two completely different things. How do I attach a pic? I'll show you what I mean if I could figure out how to post this picture
