GPS lost on screen off - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm currently running last stock 6.0.1 with root and xposed install but i have a problem : when i run runtastic for exemple to track my running session after a few minutes the phone lost the GPS signal, just put screen on for a few second and the signal Come back, screen off and the signal go away after à few minutes.am i the only one experiencing this problem?

To my own frustration, you are not the only one. A tracker app I made myself works flawlessly on multiple android Brands, but NOT on Huawei phones. The accuracy (an actual variable when programming location apps) goes from 20 (good) to 800 (very very bad) when the screen is switched off. I think Huawei wants to save the battery.... Nothing to do about it. Even when you mark the app as 'protected', no powersave thingies on etc. Sorry. I myself am thinking of buying a new phone with a CPU supported by Cyanogenmod. I gambled and lost this time) Good luck.

Android System, *backup* process draining battery

Hi,
Android System is draining my battery since android 4.3, the particular process that is causing it is *backup*, the problem i never had any problem with the backup process draining my battery.
I installed the 4.3 factory image and only restored users apps but the problem is not solved.
Apparently that is Google Backup so you have to wait for a few days so it will be done syncing and you should have no issues afterwards.

Unfortunately it's still doing it, I can't get more than 1h30 screen on time because of it, is there anybody experiencing the same thing?

Does your wifi connection gets disconnected when cell goes in deep sleep?
If yes,This can cause major drains as google keeps pinging the server for connection.
I keep getting all my notifications so I guess that I'm always connected

apparentlyi also have the same problem. maybe disabling the autosync can solve this issue.
Ah, It is backing up every day unless you are going to wipe or something, try disabling "App Data" with your connected Google Account in the sync settings.

Disabling "app data" sync did the trick!
Thanks!

This has been killing my battery in the last 4 days on my Nexus 6P. It started out of the blue this week and the *backup* process it just drains huge chunks of battery. Any other ideas? I tried disabling App Data sync in my google account but didnt do anything. Still high battery consumption. Any help appreciated.

I have also the same problem with my phone using CM13.
I have disabled app data sync inside Google Acoount, but it didn't help.
Have you gyus managed to get rid of this battery draining issue?
Ps. I haven't find a 'Google backup' so to disable it.

[Q] My Problems with Nexus 4

Hi !
These are the problems I am facing on my Nexus 4 device and I would really appreciate if someone kindly let me know as to how I can solve these serious issues plaguing me since almost a month now. ( Nexus 4 running KitKat 4.4.4 )
1. When the phone is in the pocket and I get any notification it naturally wakes up but then supposed to go back to the Sleep Mode like in any phone normally but unfortunately, my phone stays awake and I notice this when I actually feel the phone growing uncomfortably warm in my pocket !
The screen shows multiple pages open and battery draining like anything ! ( after reading some online problems related to this I have deleted WebChat and closed the Daydream function but the problem still persists and it seems I am not the only one facing this problem . )
This has happened many times.
Further, I have no idea if this happened only after the update or not since I have never used Nexus before and besides , my phone is second hand and was already updated to this version when I had purchased.
2. At times when I am rotating my camera from lets say, Landscape to Potrait mode and visa versa to take pictures the image freezes for a heartbeat and becomes normal once again.
Acting as if memory is not enough !
Storage shows 5.75G left. Two movies and music and no games.
No anti virus app but DU Booster. ( also happened before installing the booster app. )
So far, after using this phone for almost a month I am very happy and I love the smoothness of the phone .
To me this is an Andriod version of an iPhone in terms of smoothness and reliability.
In fact, I think it is better in many ways but if these above issues are solved it would encourage me to buy a new Nexus 5 soon which I am sure is much nicer then a 4.
Thank you for your kind assistance and best regards to all.
Sammy
I assume you've performed a factory reset after having bought it used, is that right?
1. Have you set it up to turn the screen on when a notification is received? It can affect your battery life, especially if it happens to unlock on its own, which I think may be the case if you're reporting "multiple pages open and battery draining like anything"
2. It's quite normal, obviously if the switching time is not THAT annoyingly long. Mine has approximately 40% storage left and sports almost no lag within the camera app, but that fraction of a second is noticeable.
Thanks for your kind reply.
Yes, I did a factory reset.
Let me check the notification status.
With regards to camera when I twist and turn the phone - the image , instead of changing with the position actually ' thinks ', before doing it which means a blurry lag .
I clearly see this from one position to the next.
Further, what I forgot to write and ask was when the phone is in my pocket and I receive an incoming call the screen freezes and I cannot swipe it to unlock and so I have to switch off the power and turn it on and only then swipe and receive the call ! ( I used to get this on a custom ROM on Galaxy S and the Dev gave me this idea and which I apply here too ! )
Thanks again !
Sammy

After using for a week, it is a good phone except below possible bugs:
SD card support is not available. I cannot save into SD card for HERE.
Juice defender is not working properly in controlling the data, perhaps due to 4G network.
The battery dies faster after 15% and drop to 0% within 5 mins. My phone shutdown at 8%. Maybe it is a battery issue.
The Antutu benchmark is disappointing and only reach 29k instead of the 40k. 3D benchmark is the weakness.
SOLVED:
[*]Waze display is messy and screwed up. The words and display are fuzzy. Updated to 3.9.4.919 solved the display issue.

Overheating and slowdown performance, Our engineers are try to solve them via software, for the touch problem you can dial *#*#33#*#*to enter test mode to see it's ok or not. The CM12.1 is based on 5.1. you can update to it.

Hello elephone1
1. I have the same problem like this guy http://bbs.elephone.hk/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=5046&page=1&ordertype=1#pid54899 (pictures inside is red color)
It is software bug (will it be fixed?) or hardware problem?
2. Wifi signal is very bad.
Stock 20150617 ROM
1) Camera pics have slight red colour in centre
2) Music player doesn't recognize WMA format music files - won't play the tunes
3) Compass doesn't work - yes I've calibrated it
Other than that I'm loving the phone
Stock 20150617
Wifi is unstable and often lost signal
Inviato dal mio Elephone P7000 utilizzando Tapatalk
Stock 20150617
1) Wifi is intermittent. Sometimes works flawlessly, sometimes very very slow. Signal is good though.
2) Icons get corrupted, for example recycle bin icon when home button is kept pressed.
3) Phone application cannot select which contact groups to show (Gmail, phone, SIM etc) and shows all contacts instead. In the Contacts app you can select any group you like.
4) Bluetooth A2DP streaming is broken! I've managed to make it work only with VLC app, but only for the first song I will play. Next songs won't play, I can only hear a soft background noise.
5) Camera is purple and blur near the edges in low lighting.
6) Compass is unstable, even after calibrating it. Also, calibration is lost upon restarting.
7) More to come...
stock rom 20150617
when using headphone jacks
at low volume there is a hissing noise sound
at level 1 and 2 or any low level sound
there is a background noise
how to fix this?
please have this fix in next updated ROM.
For 20150617: CPU being throttled? Asphalt 8 has frame rate drops even though everything is rendered correctly on High or Medium Settings.

I'm using the Stock Rom with OTA updates to P7000_20150617.
Mostly the phone works great! But I'm having no end of issues with Bluetooth.
I can pair with my Kia Sportage in-car bluetooth but every time I connect I get no audio unless I disconnect and reconnect. This is very frustrating.
I can pair with my Grandtech APT-X Optical Bluetooth 4.0 Music Transmitter Receiver but if I move the phone more than about 0.5m away from it the audio degrades severely until it cuts out completely. Compared with my old Samsung Galaxy S4 where I can connect up to 6m away.
Other Bluetooth audio devices appear very hit and miss as to whether the phone connects and works.
Any assistance greatly appreciated but I suspect it will be a ROM update to fix these issues.
Poor GPS navigation and unusable compass
Hello Elephone1,
using Stock 20150617 ROM OTA on my P7000
I have only 2 issues:
1. When I use the P7000 for navigation (Navigon, Google Maps etc.) it often happens, that the arrow (actual position) is about 50 meters off the real position. Also the displayed position is up to 100 meter afterwards the actual position.
2. The compass jumps in the shown direction. Even after successful calibration.

totally agree WiFi needs to be worked on, while at home seems to be connects but it slow even next to the router, most of the time i don't get emails nor whatsapp msgs while connected to WiFi, once i leave home and disconnects everything loads like in a stampede automatically
while on WiFi i have to manually open the applications and takes some seconds before loads stuff up

Received my new Le Pro 3, first time hand on experience and some questions

received the le pro3 today. it is a really very fast phone! it is dual sim international model - see the attached photos. everything works, except here are few problems and questions:
1) the charging is really slow.- see the attached picture. looks like the QC3.0 does not work at all.
2) i have enabled NFC, and when trying to install android pay, the apps says ' it not able to identify what system the phone has......so the android pay does not work with this phone
3) where do i find drive file for Le Pro 3 PC connection? if i just plug in the phone, the PC does not see it.
1) I think fast charge only works when screen is off and phone is idle. Also I think only charges up to around 80% for safety, then normal charging kicks in.
2) Android pay installed ok, but upon opening just informs me that it's unavailable..shrugs...edit turning on nfc lets the app start up to add card entry, then get an error saying Google didn't recognise phone or software is Android compatible
3) I think just standard adb drivers for your OS is needed
thanks for the quick reply. i try to compare using another charger ( 5v 2A charger for older phone) , and found the charging current is much bigger (at around 1200ma compare to the factory's charger's 600ma).
tried to turn on NFC and also downloaded another apps to test the NFC - the rest result is OK. but installed Android pay again, still not working..... here is the err - see the attached.
for the USB ADB driver, i have not found a working one yet. tried to download few. but when try to install, it does not show any device? so unable to install. if i plug the phone to PC, the pc does not see the phone....?
Does the back have a brushed feel or matte feel? Saw on some pictures from the US release that it was brushed but some youtube videos show a matte feel. Looks a little confusing.
it is very good quality solid built phone. the back is metal (brushed ), i compare it to my daughter's iphone 6 plus, while hold in the hand, you almost cannot tell the difference beside the finger print location. and the interface (EUI) is easy to use. i think it is better than the google's MM6.0 native ui. the left bottom does two things . it gives you easy access to multiple app windows, quick control ( like the MM's native UI's drop down control) and some other controls and you can slid it left to right to access lots more items than the old MM6.0 native dropdown function. it works very well. the middle home bottom if hold more than 1 second, it take a screen shot. works really handy. And the fingerprint sensor works really fast to unlock apps or the power. so you dont need the power bottom anymore.
Phone manager and the battery: it has quiet few very useful battery management functions, the phone manager allow you control network access for both Data and Wifi - see photo attached.
the battery life: after fully charged at 23:00 last night, keep both Cell ( including data) and wifi on ( wifi will sleep after screen off), at 8:00am this morning, it has 96% battery .....
the camera is also decent. not as good as iphone 6 plus's one, but very good.
overall, i am very happy with the phone.
Problems remaining to be solved: android pay, and slow charging. and i am still not able to get it to connect to my pc ( windows 10). can someone show me where to get a working adb driver?
i think the phone is too new, some update will fix these issues.

i have the phone only for one day. so far i have not experience 'warm' yet. as i dont play games. but yesterday, the phone was almost on all day from the morning, and with charger connected. just surfing the web and install apps. the phone is very fast, and not really warm ( i mean is is just normal compare to other phones). Note, my LePro3 is not the US version which is a single sim and 4Gram and 64G storage, but mine is a dual sim, 6G RAM, 64 G storage version. i am try to figure how to get PC's adb drive installed. strange, the phone works fine on my other PCs which are also windows 10......
update: the PC only see phone connected as PTP device, but not MTP for some reason. on my other PC the MTP connection works OK. try to update drive, but the PC still show ' unknow device' if i switch the USB mode to MTP.
and i bought it from this place:
http://www.camelwill.com/
Just try to enable developer option, after touched the screen 6 times. It shows this photo. So looks like the international version outside USA is a custom rom. i checked, the phone is not rooted , but some apps says the phone is not 100% rooted....
no wonder google's android pay does not work. as android pay does not support rooted phone
looking for factory official rom to come.......

Hi! I've just ordered and am still waiting for my Pro 3.
Regarding Android Pay:
Android Pay uses the Safety Net API to check if a specific device has passed the Android CTS (Compatibility Test Suite) tests and is whitelisted on this compatibility checklist as a valid Android device. See also here: Checking Device Compatibility with SafetyNet and Android Compatibility Program
So as long the used ROM is not whitelisted in Google's CTS checks, Android Pay will always claim that this device is not compatible (even if it's unchanged and not rooted).
So either LeEco gets its ROMs checked by the Android Compatibility program or you will have to wait until some developer finds other ways to circumvent the SafetyNet checks..

The battery is a strong point with this phone. Getting 10 hours SOT by mostly browsing on WiFi with low indoor screen brightness.
.. To the OP query about charging, being no doubt on a vendor rom, maybe a needed process for fast charging has been deleted. I notice in running apps i have 3 separate qualcomm services running. Is yours the same?

If it's the same as Le Max 2, then yes it does. Unfortunately leeco eui gives no control and makes all notifications flash green. Battery notifications are red low battery, orangey/yellow charging. On le max 2 once on a cm13 rom all colours become available to apps, I guess it would be the same on this phone.
after few days usage, the phone is very good, especially the battery. i dont use any 3rd party battery apps, just the phone's build in battery management. for the slow charging issue, i also saw report for other Le Pro2 reported bug of slow charging from this latest EUI5.8. i believe there will be an update come up soon to address some of bugs introduced from the new EUI5.8 based rom.

The back is really smooth, even the brushed metal version but it feels cold to the touch like a metal phone should so you know its real metal
It is real Metal feeling. These days Chinese manufacturers make best phones if they want. Take a look at iPhone which is made in China. Also, these new comers like LeEco and others are determined to officially enter the US market, there wont be any copy right issues. And the support will be good too. They all knew that before they make such move.

For this of us who bought other le phone previously that is different story. Because there was no official support for Google in those phones as Google is not available in China. Even those so called international models are not official ROMs. But I believe things are no changes

Lemfo Lem 5 Battery Life?

Just got one of these and am struggling with the battery life. I've done all the things that are recommended, turned down the brightness watched out for any power hungry apps but it is chewing it's way through the battery big time. I had one day where it seemed to settle, so I know it can give me a days power but apart from that one day it's not making the day with Bluetooth on. Even with Bluetooth off it can't make it through the night. I can't work out why it managed it one day and not since. Any ideas?
Same here, got this device for few days and even if I uninstall almost everything, turn brightness as low as possible, disable WIFI, GPS vibrations - the battery remains for 8hours only.
Also, i've got a problem with GPS - seems to be not working at all, weather location is propably grabbed from WiFi signal location.
It is very dissapointing, will try to use it for few next days, but if it will not get better i will return the device - i did not pay for android smartwatch that is almost unusable
Same here. Disabled everything and it still will not last more than 8 hours. Any luck improving it?
I have a Finow x5 plus with the same problem. They are identical. I discovered with the Gsam battery program, that the problem is apparently in the "IOS notification" service. I close it, and it opens automatically. I'm trying to install Greenify, but I need to accept a configuration within accessibility and I'm not getting it according to the topic: https://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/other-smartwatches/enable-accessibility-x5-t3538252
I installed GSam Battery Monitor and it seems that what drains the battery is "Held Awake". I don't think this can be solved easily. The screen also uses a heck of a lot of battery. The good news is BT and wifi seem to not use much, even when kept on continuously.
I have disabled data connection on 3G, let's see if this changes anything.
Problem with greenify is I'd need to access with the watch with USB, but it seems Lemfo has disabled this, I can't even have the option in developer mode.
Some luck?
I've installed all the updates, then did a complete reset of the watch, removed the SIM card, disabled developers options, and proceeded iteratively installing apps. I left it over night and woke up to see a nice 84% battery.
Possible culprits: Display Brighness App, Quickball, or Calendar 4.4 (haven't reinstalled those yet... and not sure when I'll have time, but this may help you).
It would be neat to find a way to remove the IOS Notification over BT, but if battery lasts over a day, I can live with that.
Hope this helps. Good luck!
Guys, ive been looking for an answer... i've got the same problem with a lemfo lem5. Everybody who has this problem in android devices, they solved it just uninstalling the app Lux on their phone, but i cant see all the apps installed on my smartwatch... do you know any program to do it from the computer? because i've been looking for one app to do it from the smartwatch but no one works..
please help
p.s: (sorry for my bad english)
Quickball definitely used battery. very strange that GSAM didn't detect it, but since uninstalled watch goes into deepsleep mode most of the downtime... and 83% batery after 7 hours.
Edit: Quickball is not installed by default. Don't install it, and that's it. if you are looing for such an app, I have installed Floating Toucher, and it doesn´t affect battery life.

How to uninstall quickball?
Turn off the function automatically turn on the screen. Battery lasts longer than 1 day.
battery seems to last for a day. 3G is a battery killer, I keep it in airplane mode with BT enable to still manage the interaction with cell phone. NO WIFI. WiFi is terrible, use BT tethering for internet. not much slower, and much better in terms of battery life.
Install Screen Filter to reduce intensity, this will reduce the impact of the AMOLED screen on the battery.
Supposedly, it is possible to disable Ios Notification Push via Setting Search App. I haven´t managed to but the following might do the trick: Install GSAM Battery Monitor. Click on App Usage. Select Ios Notifications, click on the Manage button, then on Ios Notification Push. Force Stop. This seems to have worked for me.
EDIT: In setting Search, go to applications --> Running --> Google (or Google Services), find the Ios Notifications. Kill it.
Sorry bump up an old topic, but I also recently purchased this watch.
First impressions are great, although battery life is indeed not something to write home about.
I've follow previous mentioned instructions:
- Downloaded the app to adjust screen intensity.
- Killed IOS notifications process.
however some people mentioned killing quickball and lux to further increase the battery life.
But no instructions have been provided on how to kill these processes, and internet searches come up emptt.
Can some please provide instructions on how to kill/uninstall these processes?
Hi
Install GSAM Battery Monitor and Settings Search.
Using Setting Searchs, go to Applications and select IoS Notification Push and LEMFO. Stop them.
Quickball: just don't install it. Floating Toucher is a better option in term of battery life.

however some people mentioned killing quickball and lux to further increase the battery life.
But no instructions have been provided on how to kill these processes, and internet searches come up emptt.
Can some please provide instructions on how to kill/uninstall these processes?

simple. don't install it. It's not a program by default, this was a follow up on a previous post.

I was thinking about buying the pro version, but it makes me laugh how people suggest to turn off 3g, disable bluetooth and wifi, uninstall this or that app... you buy a smartwatch and you end up using it as a regular watch. Is it really worth?
do not buy the pro version, the battery lasts a maximum of 6 hours and is full of bugs. I bought it and can not use it for what it should serve
How to reset the smartwatch LEMFO LF17 if only has one botton?
Please.

The battery lasts 24 hours +-1 or 2 , with no sim functions or anything , using it just like a watch with high brightness that's all
BT tethering

battery seems to last for a day.
Kill it.
