Software update? Not disabled? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

One of the very first things I did was install Package Disabler Pro and disabled everything sprint and software update.
Woke up today to a nice notification about a software update. Did I miss something?

I believe it was a security update.

Yes, I'm also encountering this while using smart launcher.

Package disabler is worth every penny. It's basically a root feature without root. Frees up a good chunk of ram too.

AT&T and Samsung bloatware

Anyone got a list of system apps we can safely disable?
Just disable all of the AT&T stuff. I haven't had any issues.

The below link is what i have disabled through Package Disabler Premium. More can be done, I'm sure.

Thanks for this. My device has been running much slower than my note 5 was. Hoping this helps.

No problem.
For what it's worth: After I disabled these I booted to Recovery and wiped the cache partition.
It was stuttering and laggy for the day, but after updating everything and a couple of reboots things have seemed to settle in nicely. Good luck!

Here is my Updated disabled. I had an issues with enhanced audio set up because of a package I had disabled. Also, I dot use Android Pay, Gear Stuff or VR stuff. https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ajwyu5YpXo8VnyywF6caYaVEc3nL

Which package specifically was the problem with enhanced audio. Want to check and see if I have that one disabled.

It was either AudioConnectionService or SapaMonitor.
You can tell if you go:
Settings>Sounds>Sound Quality and Effects>Adapt Sound.
If adapt sound opens up then you are good. If adapt sound doesn't open after you tap on it, then you would need to re-enable one of the above. Sorry I don't remember exactly which one it was. But, its one of those. I actually have them both enabled with no change in performace or battery life btw.
Let me know if you need more help.

This is mine. I'm not being very aggressive with disabling things, I use a gear watch, file sharing, etc, so...

T-Mobile name id app new update sucks

As the title states the new update is garbage. What's the point of a new ui if the app is stripped of all previous functions from the old one. Is there a way I can roll back to the old? Before the last firmware update I was able to prevent the app from auto updating. Now I'm stuck with shell of what used to be a awesome app.
I didn't think anyone used this app I just freeze done.
Doesn't it tap into the white pages app? The white pages app is free and is called Hiya.

Carrier IQ

I read that the ATT Nougat update contains Carrier IQ. Can anyone confirm and if so tell me how to disable.

Yes it does. You can use BK package disabler from play store to disable.

There isn't a way to do it right now unless rooted

Is it? I downloaded one of those carrier IQ scanners and it said it wasn't found. Unless they've changed the package names. But when I was disabling a bunch of stuff with Package Disabled Pro I didn't see any of it. I used to disable it on all my old smartphones.

It's a service in android system. Package disabler pro won't work to disable it because it doesn't seem to get into the submenus. BK package disabler in the app store does though. In BK goto system>android system>services and you will find carrieriq plain as day, just toggle it off.

Thanks for posting that. I've disabled it and will see if it helps with battery drain.

Thank you so much for this information. I've been searching for hours for a non-root solution. This is it!

Daydream is available with latest firmware update.

Daydream is working for me on my s8 plus with AQ5 update.
But it is kinds glitchy.
Maybe it's the rom I'm using but i don't know.
Any one tried it yet.

It wasn't available after the AQ5 update...they just made it available within the last week or so...and you have to download the corresponding apps off of Google Play for it to work..
