From 6p to Mate 8 - Mate 8 General

Ever since seeing the Mate 7 and liking it's design I wanted it but not all lte radios were present for ATT and it was a no go.... Now I have a 6p and heading to the Mate 8. I hope I'm not making a mistake. I love the ability to flash a plethora of different Roms but the Mate 8 has a lot of features that some aosp roms have( swipe on right to get quick settings and double tap to wake). I love the screen to body ratio and battery and sd slot of the Mate 8. The speaker at the bottom and 1080p aren't biggies for me. Development seems to be at a snail's pace but I hope it picks up a little.
I actually had a Mate 2 that really wasn't bad.

The speaker is really good, the battery epic, you'll miss the camera big time and I think stock will be the best for a while.

Picture quality isn't extremely high on my list. As long as it is good, I'll be fine. I must say the 6p has great low light capabilities but I don't take many pics in the dark.

Hi,
You can change your phone, for me the mate 8 it's the best phone of the world.
I had the s6 edge+, the note 5 and many of best phone but the mate 8 has no equivalent. I love the big screen, his power, his battery, his style... simply, I love everything on this phone

Just changed myself from 6P and have no regrets.
Mate 8 is better in every way except camera.

The Mate 8 does support 60fps video recording where the 6P does not... 60fps is niiice

Haven't found this yet. Would very much like it though because I'm used to it from my G4 and the unlocking using the fingerprint scanner is not my thing at all :good:

ull need to manually enable this on earlier roms via build.prop whereas more recent firmwares have that function built in

Wow, indeed it was included as standard, under Smart Settings. Didn't see it (just have the phone and the options are rather endless). Thx! :good:

I thought double tap to wake was problematic and produced phone restarts and other weird behaviors. Did they fix it?

in earlier roms that was definitely the case. no idea about the functionality on more current firmwares, i dont really use that feature, hurts battery life

You can't do much if nothing other than wifi and network works.
I've tried it, just did a nandroid, flashed it like a normal ROM, and restored the backup half an hour later. Heres the full thread if you are interested;

List of Bugs on "Stable" b324

Few days ago, Huawei release the final "stable" firmware for our MT7... But as all we know, this rom is like other previous betas, maybe it's more stable, good feeling, smooth and long battery life. But still we can found many bugs. Lets make a known bug list for this release, like...
. Fingerprint sensor, doesn't work on "Slide down to show notificacion panel"
- Turn off vibration on silence, Just work once. When you press + volume, option to vibrate it's turn on again.
- Fast screenshot, strong double tap with knuckles doesn't work
Any bug else ???
Will go the pin screen at random.
Sent from my HUAWEI MT7-L09 using Tapatalk
I don't know if it's a bug but it's bugging me - dual windows feature is just available for a few apps, I don't understand why Huawei won't make it for all. It's just a joke.
Many people mentioned swipe gesture on fingerprint sensor, I can't find this setting, where is it?
Sent from my HUAWEI MT7-L09 using Tapatalk
Knuckle is working for me. No random pin screens. About that notifications with fingerprint there is no such option. In b324 if you clean install. You only have it if you came from beta or if you flashed transition package to fix some bugs. Ofc its useless never gonna work as its not included in b324.
Suggest you do a clean install from b137 as huawei suggests and then start a port for bugs because obviously since you have that notification bar - fingerprint option you did not follow official steps

-WiFi takes ages to connect..
-when locking phone sound is same as when unlocking
-swiping down on right side won't open right side or left
-I don't think battery is any better (will test again from 100
When I opened Messaging app twice by tapping on the messaging icon, I saw 2 separate instances of it when I pressed the square button.
I went back to B120SP04

Notification's issue on this beautiful device

(posting this again under general as someone might has a solution).
I got mate 8 (Chinese version) about a week ago and it's an amazing device but it has a major issue with receiving notifications!!! Having an amazing phone with such major issue is like having a BMW with Toyota engine!!! Has anyone find any solution to this issue?
From what I belive. This is simply what I belive. That because China don't really allow anything other than their China region app. The notification file for anything other than that might not work. Assuming if you own the international version(English ). Notification might work.

There's many problem with push notification on the last version of android (6) .
Owner of nexus 6P are in the same boat !
I have the mate 8 with 64 giga and all is working great except some bloatware AND ... the push notification when the screen is off.
I have change many settings but no solution (search in google with android 6 and doze problem)
in that case i guess theres nothing left to do but wait for an android update and/or EMUI update

after rooting just uninstall phone manger apk and it will be fixed with receiving notifications like my old p8max
phone manager is crap app just holding receiving notifications all the time
Don't uninstall phone manager!
Just change the Doze settings to an interval that you are happy with for receiving notifications. You have to root to do that, too, though. But you will save more power this way.
New firmware update
First thing I noticed after the update (B137) is that alarm clock notification has stopped working! WTF!

You can read the other several threads in the General section to answer your question. FYI this is in the wrong section.
I think you can go ahead. i am already using this as my daily driver. And its quiet nice.
With my my day to day use i cannot tell that it is beta its already in a better state
I installed it within days of receiving my 6P. There are a couple bugs obviously. Some apps won't run but nothing too bad. Some display issues but overall I'm happy. Only thing I miss is root

Well may be. This is my first non-Samsung phone in a while. To prove it I am still not sure whether there is a fuse like Knox and the 6P. kind of scared to unlock and route due to the pain I had with the note 5 and not being able to use Samsung pay four Google pay … Or warranty I guess LOL

Yes, it is available
I ran it for about a day or so, and to be honest it was stable for the most part but sluggish in some areas and some of the apps I use regularly started crashing and such. But it's definitely something I looking forward to once it's fully released/stable

Battery issues in pie solved

new S8 and I love it it came with android 7, then updated to 8 and I loved it the battery was so good more than 6 hours SOT screen time but after a few days I read about the new things of oreo and I updated I like the way it looks, no so much that the themes don't apply as beautifully than in ios 7 or 8
but the battery is really awful 4 hours screen time [emoji24] and I read that I cant downgrade So I decided to activate medium power saving in battery setting it decreases the cpu to 70% and also restrict background data and yes again my cell is working great no more battery issues View attachment 5103675
