Phone taking too long to charge after the marshmallow update - K3 Note General

Hi,
So, after the ota, my phone is taking way too long to charge. It takes nearly 8-10 hours to charge completely. Attached is the screenshot, where it says more than a day to charge. I have no idea what is wrong with it.
And funny thing is, it takes about 8 hours to lose full charge when phone is not in use. So, I have a phone that works only when connected, because it discharges instead of charging.
I had to throw away my old YU phone because of same issue. And now this one is doing it too. I have no idea why it is happening.

As the mentioned problem is not with me and many other users, you should factory reset your phone and then try it,
mine takes only 2,5hrs to fully charge, and i am on latest marshmallow stock unrooted.
Note:- Don't use your phone during the charging because it drains the power and battery gets less current to charge and take more time to charge..

I tried factory reset, even going back to old version and then updating again. It is still happening. :/ And funny thing is, sometimes, it works fine and charges in 3-4 hours. With power bank, and wall socket, there is no difference.
To be honest, I have never reached a situation where phone took less than 3 hours to fully charge (from less than 10%). Even the new device took about 5 hours to charge. Shutting down the device before plugging in, doesn't help either. So, I am not sure, what is the reason for this madness.
And problem is without root access, I can't even figure out if something is going wrong. If only there was a way to find out how much voltage and amps, my device is pulling in during the charging process.

I did'nt facing any issue after update ....even it charges fastly as compared to Rooted 5.0 (past)
i had fresh update (6.0) after hard reset

I also have the same problem. Charging taking almost double the time it took with lollipop and battery draining faster than it did with Lollipop. I am trying to find what's wrong but have been unsuccessful so far. Think that Lollipop was far more stable than Marshmallow for this phone. jitendragarg if u have found any solution please share. P.S. Factory reset did not help.

Milestone 2 - Died..?

My girlfriend has a MS2, it is approx 5 weeks old.
It is as factory, she not interested in modding it.
Today, she took a call. Battery was at approx 60%, call lasted about 10min.
When she took the phone away from her ear, it powered off.
It has failed to restart.
We've left it connected to power for a few hours, we've left the battery out for a bit..
We've tried all the different versions of key presses + power on (camera+power, x+power, @+power, vol dn+power, etc, etc) but the phone simply does not respond to anything.
The only thing it will do is, the little light illuminates next to the micro-usb port when it's connected to power/pc.
Any suggestions as to what may have caused this?
Suggestions for a cure?
As stated, it is 5 weeks old, totally as it left the factory (unmodified/unmodded)
Not happy!
Don't like the idea of having to return it to HK (ebay vendor) for warranty, if it comes to that, think we'll get a refund and abandon Motorola. Pathetic.
TIA for any suggestions..
Did you try to remove battery for a while? That helped me in similar situation.
yes, we have tried that.. :-(
I had a similar problem last week! It really shocked me.
I connected the charger and left it connected. After about 5 hours it booted up again, but the battery was only at 5%.
After that I simply let it charge and finally the Milestone worked again. You might want to try another battery if it really doesn't charge or boot anymore.

It happened the same here. Just leaved it charging, when I least expected it booted up. Let it on the charger, if it doesn't fix, return to ebay.
Make sure you are using the wall socket charger. If my battery dies, USB won't charge the phone, at least not in a reasonable amount of time.
There might be a part on ur motherboard thats draining too much juice. I had the same problem on my phone though the battery depletion wasn't as significant as yours. Check with ur dealer and claim it from ur warranty. Its apparently a common problem with the milestone range
Sent from my MotoA953 using XDA App
Similar thing happened to mine one afternoon, after a quick play around I left it plugged into the charger for a few hrs and it eventually booted back up itself.

Battery is fully charged but os reporting low?

Ive had a good look but i cannot find anything on this particular behaviour. Please could anyone help, its driving me round the bend now!
The battery will not charge past about 15 to 20%, no matter what, or how long I charge it (used original charger, plus another couple rated at least 2A, no difference). Ive had the back off and measured with a multimeter directly across the battery at this point, which reads around 4.2v, which is fine, thats what a fully charged cell should be. However, in this fully charged state, with a number of battery apps that read voltage from the os, it reports only 3.7v. Similarly, when the unit reports around 3.5v, consequently turning off, the battery is actually still at 4v!
I just dont get it, i cant seem to get it to correct itself, ive tried everything. Does anyone have any other ideas? Cant be the battery, its reaching full charge just fine, and is not nearly becoming discharged.
This is strange, have a look at this battery history screenshot, after staying for hours on 20 to 30% it jumps straight to 2%, while still on charge. And also once its shut down, i turn it straight back on again and its miraculously got 20 odd percent back in it. As you can see it keeps doing it. Anyone?
Someone recommended me this app against slow charging problems in another thread on xda. However I haven't had time to try it out yet.
Years ago my Moto Defy+ only charged to 80% because I had flashed the wrong firmware. The correct one restored the normal behaviour. So, it's just an idea, but you could try to flash a factory image, to make sure it's not a software issue.

Are you facing the "Dash Full Charge" issue?

Ok....
I think it's not new that we have a problem here.
Some of the people who got OnePlus 5,
Facing an issue when charging that it charges up to 80%-90% with the Dash Charger.
And then simply stops, and to charge to 100% we use regular charger (Not Dash Charger)

And there are more evidence of the issue.
We need to deliver the massage to OnePlus.
So please tell me, your facing the issue too?

The power input in lowered after the phone has charged to 70%+, which results in slower charging speed.
It's done to preserve the battery and to allow more charging cycles in the long run.
So, it's not a bug. It's a feature.
As @sufoalmighty said, it's not a bug, it's a safety feature to keep the battery healthy.
Ok look.... it just stops and the phone says not charging.. i don't really know why
Hi Guys,
It's a real issue and I'm experiencing it. Plus, there are few threads about this on Oneplus forum and Reddit:
here: https://forums.oneplus.net/search/13523112/?q=dash+charging&o=date&c[title_only]=1&c[node]=265
and here: https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/6r0403/oneplus_5_dash_charge_stop_at_83/
I even had an error message on the phone when trying to charge it more than 85% when off... Everytime I briefly pushed on the power button to see if it was charging properly it said :
"Device temperature is too low. Can not charge"
Talked to Oneplus support twice, they escalated my ticket. But I have no news from them for 3 days now... I think the best could be having them akcnowledge there is an issue, even if it's gonna be painful for them for some obvious marketing reasons...
What do you think ?
If your phone actually entirely stops charging, it is a bug, probably a hardware problem with your charger, as a person on the linked Reddit thread said. Try a different DASH Charger first. If it did start after the update, you could always flash back and test it against tests of the new one and send them that information. Saying that it stops DASH charging isn't very clear and contains no information OnePlus can work with. Download Ampere and check it with the cable plugged in after 80% to see what value is showing, or use the *#808# menu to test the same. Post results, including a picture clearly showing the screen and the fact that it is plugged in [take it with another device].
Experiencing the same issue as @the_david. My OP5 is 5 days old, received it with stock firmware (4.5.3 I think, not sure) everything was fine. Updated to 4.5.8, rooted, installed magisk etc... Wanted to charge it after some days, but with the dash charger it stops completely at 75%. Turning of the phone shows battery temp to low (was at 33°C).
A non-dash charger will charge to 100%. Cache & Dalvik reset had no effect.
Edit:
I let the phone discharge to 0% and tried to charge it with the dash charger. I saw the dash charging symbol in the "bootloader" & blue LED, however it stayed stuck at 0%. With another charger I was able to load it to 2%, afterwards used the dash charger to get it up to 80%.
Got a replacement charger and the issue was gone
So, I got a new Dash charger and... It fixed the issue. It seems there are some problem with some dash charger series, especially if you bought your OP5 to a Chinese reseller...
Everything works fine now!
The problem in my case is the rom installed... Tried with RR and dash is ok up to full charge, but on stock oos up to 90% is dash and from there normal charge
No problems here. Dash charge till 80-90 percent and than charging values going slower and slower and slower up to 100 percent. So i guess i'm fine.
What i "do" like to mention is: When device is fully charged at 100 percent, within 10 minutes it drops very fast to 87 percent! than the battery seems to stabilizes itself. With each dropping percentage the battery is more and more going slower at discharging..
I don't know if that's normal behaviour, because i'm not familiar with OP5.. I came from Samsung.
Maybe somebody can explain this? or am i seeing it wrong?
It's strange.. i've a linear discharge.. have you tried a battery fix? Discharge all then charge until 100% from switched off phone.. Don't do this everytime because will damage battery... Or maybe it's just android that after sometime the battery percentage split to 2% at time... 100-98-96 etc..
Did that in the past with replacable batteries, also use battery calibration app (still a myth, but whatever). I never discharged this Device further than 10 percent (like you kinda mentioned it can damage the battery) and since it's hard to replace the battery i wont take the risk. Maybe my battery didnt even get the change to settle because of the many Roms and Kernels i Flashed over and over again, since i got my device for about 10 days now haha. I guess i need to give my battery more time to settle and don't stress it?
I was in your doubt too, since i've flashed a looooot of rom in about 2 days lol and i stressed really too much my phone.. But as i said up, i've noticed that the battery percentage (what we see in the statusbar and not the reality charge) depends a lot on which rom you're using... In this 2 days i've also charged my phone a lot of time, via dash charge or via pc (while copying files from computer to phone) and it seemed damaged in RR but when i reflashed back to freedom it has returned normally and today i have a very long life battery (charged this morning at 9:30 and now i still have 81%)... So in the end i think your battery is not damaged but have you tried a factory reset? PS: i've never discharged it under 20% PPS: and sure, for answering your question, i think that less stress (few charge)= more battery life so now i wait tomorrow to try another rom but today is the "My oneplus 5 rest day" lol

turbo power not working

Hi all. My phone was at 0% but then I decided to use my turbo charger. Within 10 minutes it was at 100% and I was shocked. So I decided to unplug it and when I did it suddenly drained 2%. I think the battery isn't giving me the right reading of how much charge is left. What do I do?
Should I let the battery drain any then re charge it with a normal AC adapter (not with QC)
Are you on custom ROM? Personally, the first thing I would do is fastboot flash stock ROM to establish if there is a hardware problem. However, the 0% battery has been a problem with Moto devices in the past, so it is probably nothing to worry about.
I'm on the stock rom.
100% in ten minutes? Wtf?
Yes
Is this more of a hardware or software issue. I'm not rooted.
I'm getting 26 minutes with 24%
Do a factory reset if you are completely stock and not rooted. If the problem persists after a reset, it is hardware possibly.
I did a reset and it worked. Thanks!

Battery issues

My phone's battery level is stuck at 35% and doesn't change on charging it over and over again. Left the phone charging last night and it was still charging at 35% in the morning. However if there's a drop below 35% level it shows on the screen but again charging the phone drains complete battery within a minute or two. The phone gets switched off and starts charging from 0. On switching it on sometimes it again starts draining the battery fast or stuck at some another battery level. Please help what should i do.
I tried reflashing rr rom freshly but it didn't solve the issue. Twrp recovery shows the same battery %.
Screen recorded as below.

Charger or phone faulty, either requires exchange under warranty, take it you are using cable and charger supplied with phone.
Do a factory reset just in case something has screwed up the OS, trying to charge with the phone switched off usually will confirm whether hardware or software problem, ie will not charge when off says its hardware.

I left the phone on charge last night in switch off mode but the battery level shows only 10% in the morning. Internally however it's charged 100% but the level is not showing correctly. Also since I've unlocked the bootloader, the device isn't under warranty.
what a weird battery behaviour!!
Whenever I start charging my phone using stock charger, it drains the battery within minutes instead of charging. Once the battery is completely drained out the battery starts charging from 0% and after a full night of being plugged into the charger it shows partially charged at different level when it's switched on even though it's full.
Is there no way to troubleshoot this or the right way to calibrate the battery?

already tried this in vain. The battery % doesn't change while discharging and decreases very fast while charging.

Contact Moto Service Center hope they will sort out.... Best of luck
Although I think it's a coin toss if it will help, try another charger and a factory reset... Moto service will want you to do a factory reset before sending it in anyway.

Almost the same with different battery percentage.
My G5 plus is under amazon warranty so I'm fine but I would like to know if there is a way to solve by myself and would like to know what the hell happend.
Have you solved this battery issue?
Thank you.

Not yet, only solution is getting the battery replaced. Now I've learnt to live with it, since the mobile needs to be restarted after every charge and the % gets stuck at some random value despite being fully charged.

I'll ask for replacement after Christmas holidays. Thank you very much.
I do also have the same problem. It just started a few days ago and sometimes I'd restart the phone and it will fix it and show the actual percentage been charged. But now that isn't fixing it anymore. However, as mentioned before the battery is actually being charged. So let's say it's stuck in 11% and I charge it for a few hours. Then I can use the phone for hours without going below 11%.. but how annoying when it gets there and all of a sudden you are running out of battery ?
Charging with original charger/cable. Do you guys think it might have to do with the turbopower feature?
Has anyone found a solution to this? I'm still under warranty for two more months. But it's always a pain to deal with warranty, you know no phone for a week or more... It would be nice if it can be fixed without going through warranty.
