How's your battery life so far? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

I just wanted to get some feedback on everyone's experience with battery life so far.
Good? Bad? Terrible?
What is your experience so far?

Battery on S7 Edge is phenomenal for me. I get over 6 hours of SOT with sync on, brightness on auto, BT on, location on, 70% WiFi and 30% on LTE.
Always on Display off and most Smart features off.

My battery life hasn't been that great so far...
Ranging from 2 1/2 to 4 hours SoT...
Not sure why exactly, I have been disabling apps directly from the Applications Manager and disabled most Smart Features as well. No Always on Display as well. Rarely use location and bluetooth, so I only turn those features on as needed.
Only a few Edge panels active.
It heats up at odd times, especially when using my GearVR for 30 min max - pops up a message and says it needs to cool down.
Sometimes it also stutters and lags especially when typing - it's odd.
Thinking about returning it but I'm going to try factory reset and a few other options as well before I return it.

I going to compare it to my previous device, and it is horrible. I used to have an iPhone 6+, could go all day from 6AM to 11PM without the need of a power outlet. Now with the S7 Edge by 3PM I start looking for a charging cable as my battery shows only 37% left. No changes on usage pattern whatsoever, same amount of apps, etc. Its just not good, the only good part is that It charges faster than the iPhone, but I travel a lot and I was able to watch 2 movies while on a plane and still have 60% left at the end of the flight, the most recent trip I just watched 1 movie and the battery was down to 47%. I don't play games, just watch Youtube, facebook and the occasional snapchat, I don't even use the camera that much.

Stopping by from TMobile. My battery life also sucks. I get 3 to 4 hrs screen on time. I don't get how people are getting 7 hrs.
"when askin' for help, appeal to people's self interest, like looking out for you it's good business "

Just to give an update on my situation...
So I reset my phone through the settings and then through system recovery and it seems to be running much better.
I haven't gotten 7 hours SoT but I've gotten between 4-6 hours consistently - depending on how heavy my usage was.
I think I could easily get 7 hours if I let my battery drain into the single digits but I always charge around 20%.
Being able to get up to 6 hours SoT with 20% battery left is actually not bad at all.

I haven't been able to get more than 4. What do you think reseting the phone does?

Ok so after a full reset, now my battery life is super awesome. Now my phone last 12+ hours and still at 50%.

What build number is current for ATT S7 edge? I am on Verizon and we are on PB5. Battery life is terrible and we have the same complaining on our threads. Good news, TMO is pushing out build number ending in PC8 that has fixed the battery drain problem on their SD820 variants. So, hold on...fix is just around the corner. Now, I am just waiting to see which carrier is the next to update... Verizon is really slow approving updates. Not sure if Sprint or ATT will next.

This is mine after doing some disabling and turning off WiFi and bt scans , it has been a mild usage day so far but in idle has been great.

On the same build number...
It only improved by factory resetting the phone twice (through settings and recovery) and by fine tuning package disabler pro - I think I was disabling way too much (I read that's not good).
If I'm being honest, it's still not as impressive as I thought it would be. With 3600 mah, I was expecting much more.
All that being said, I'm getting between 4-6,7 hours SoT - so I'm okay with that.

I've been using Package Disabler Pro since I got my S7 Edge...
Battery life was terrible in the beginning and then I kept fine tuning and fine tuning and fine tuning until I eventually reached some good battery life but it wasn't consistent.
Then I tried the GearVR and it installed some more apps and battery life started to suffer again.
I wasn't sure what the issue was exactly so I kept fine tuning and adjusting. I read online that Package Disabler Pro can actually impact battery life if you disable too many apps.
So I went back and only disabled a minimal number of apps... Still battery life was back and forth... Some days okay but other days battery drain would be awful.
So just for fun, I uninstalled Package Disabler Pro and manually went through and disabled each Application/Permissions through the Application Manager one by one (System & User Apps).
Now my battery life is phenomenal!
Seriously, I am getting about a day and a half off one charge (almost two days) and a SoT of between 6-8 hours consistently <- obviously this depends on how heavy your usage is.
I just charged my phone today with 5 1/2 SoT @ 25% battery left and 1 day 12 hours since last charge.
Very excellent results... So if others out there are having issues, try uninstalling Package Disabler Pro and doing it manually. Sure it takes time but the results have been amazing for me.

Not much... Just these...
I also went one by one and removed excess permissions for many apps - including these.
It sounds crazy but it gave me much better results than using Package Disabler Pro.

Are you guys having Android System battery issues still?
To pinpoint which service within Android System is causing the most wakelocks without Root, you can use this app (Wakelock Detector Lite) & adb to view the stats.
Here's the link to the Play Store app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uzumapps.wakelockdetector.noroot
After you install the app, go into Settings > Developer options & turn on USB Debugging.
Then connect your phone to your PC, open adb, and type:
adb devices
Then
adb tcpip 5555
Now you can view your wakelock stats without root!
My number one wakelock within Android System is GpsLocationProvider_ex. It prevents my phone from deep sleep & Doze.
The only workaround is to turn off GPS until needed.
Please share your findings.

Finally got my battery life to where I'm happy. GPS is off and sync is off because I don't ever use it, other than that there's about an hour of Spotify listening in there. No battery saver modes or restricting background data. The only things I'm doing is disabling AT&T crap and running the newest Greenify beta 2.9 beta 2 (not hibernating any apps) I'm using it for aggressive Doze. The new beta (not on play store) let's the phone go into Doze in about 10min vs an hour AND ignores movement. So if you have your phone on a bag or pocket normally it wouldn't Doze because it isn't sitting still but the new aggressive feature let's it. It's awesome, here's a link if interested. http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/greenify/beta-greenify-2-9-beta-1-feb-5-2016-t3308200

[Q] Dear Note 3 owners, what do you think of the battery life?

Hi guys.
I've had the Note 3 for some days now and I gotta admit, I'm having a hard time getting thru one day with heavy usage. I went from my Galaxy S II which held an entire day with moderate usage(with custom kernel+rom tho) expecting to never, ever worry about battery life no matter what but the truth is, that it is much harder to get thru a day now. I dont know if it's my phone or just a general 'issue' but I expected it to last much longer than it does.
**I've done a few test as you can see here**
---
Reinstalled, no wifi, no gps, no bluetooth, automatic brightness and went to bed(it was at 98%):
http://puu.sh/53k2n.png
---
Woke up, used it for radio(downloaded TuneIn for radio) + news(aka Reddit News) while eating, for one hour. Still no wifi, gps, bluetooth and automatic brightness on
http://puu.sh/53k1C.png
So it ate 20% battery on 1 hour with radio + Reddit News. Used the phone the whole time, screentime was 47m out of the 1 hour.
---
I just reinstalled everything, again, and did another test. Havent touched any app at all but YouTube. Wifi and GPS were on as default and didnt touch that. I opened YouTube and played a 2 hour movie with auto brightness and 50% media volume. This was the outcome
http://puu.sh/53jUQ.png
The red line shows when the video stopped. So it drained 20% battery on 2 hours.
---
What do you think of this, how is your battery life and are you satisfied with it?
I'm wondering if I should send mine in for repair, but I dont know if its my device or just pretty normal of a Note 3...

Phenomenal battery life.
My S4 would be dead in 8 hours whereas N3 has a good 40% remaining.
I'm not rooted.
I'm on 4G & have medium to heavy usage.
I have very good battery life (with auto sync, data & wifi always on, etc...).
But I did some actions: root -> Greenify all apps which do not need really background interaction.
Turn down the screen brightness.
If I watch a video for 3.5 hours on full brightness it eats 45%. Same parameters but with brightness at 30%, it uses only 19%.
Also, get rid of Touchwiz.
I'm quite pleased with the battery life. I unplig at 100% at 2200, get up at 0440 (ah the joys of Public transport...) and when I get home at 2015, it'll be around 40%. I religiously check the railway planner every 15 minutes, email every 30min, take notes and watch films.
That said I did buy a 15600mah powerpack. Public transport is not know for its reliability here, so I need a backup plan. Particularly with the oncoming annual apocalypse dubbed 'snow'.

It's not bad so far. Though I haven't been keeping any real track of usage and battery stats so far. I'm only on my second charge, and I've been tweaking the phone to my liking and installing the X-NOTE ROM. After this initial tweaking and fiddling period I'll get a better idea about the battery life in day to day usage.
I come from a Note 2 and so far I'd say it's about the same.
I read a post by X-NOTE developer soloilmeglio where he said that the stock kernel for new firmware version MJ6 seems much more tweaked for battery life, so that sounds great. I'm on MJ3 now, waiting for his MJ6 build.
During the first 10 days I was disappointed (I previously had a s3). But now after several refills I'll say the Gn3 battery gives about 40-50% more autonomy than the s3 did. From my experience it's a good thing to charge only when you reach 15% and to run a full charge without using the phone.
Currently with a full charge and a heavy usage it's ok for two days. Most of the time I reach 3 days. That's not far from 1 more day than what the s3 did.

I bought this device last Thursday so it's been 9 days now. I need to probably spend another 10 days.
I have to say, as a power user, I'm not very impressed yet. Coming from an S3 (3G), I expected a significant "road warrior" bump but I'm just lasting a full day. When I heard reviewers going on 3 day weekends where they used the Note 2 and it lasted easily 2 days, I expected the same with the Note 3.
My work day is 0600 - 1630. With my S3 in moderate/heavy usage pattern I got home with maybe 15% remaining. With light/moderate usage, I'm home with 30%.
With the Note 3, my moderate/heavy pattern gives me 25% battery remaining for home. Haven't done light moderate yet. Estimate maybe 45% battery will remain.
In both cases we're talking about 3.5 hours on screen time heavy usage. 1.5 hours light usage.
Of course it should be noted that I'm comparing a 3G device to a 4G device. Also, EE 4G in London seems to have pretty week mobile signals or the Note 3 just has a meek radio. I'm really hoping that this improves after more charge cycles and/or updates. I want to be able to have a average screen on time of 4 hours and still go home with 35% remaining so I can still use the phone for the rest of the evening before bed.

Mobile network data (3g/ 4g) uses more power than wifi. Use ur home/ office wifi and save power. Before i bought note 3, i thought the battery would b great. But its OKAY.

Just wanted to update:
So I did a few testing sessions and have come to the conclusion that my biggest battery drainer for me: Auto Brightness.
Now after 2 days of setting the brightness manually (roughly to 15%) my battery life has definitely improved dramatically.
I'm getting over 3hrs screen on, heavy usage with 40%+ remaining at the end of a work day.
Today, I've had almost 4.5hrs screen on, heavy heavy usage (a lot of 4G, played the new free Asphalt, huge amount of web browsing) and the phone was at 5% before I finally charged it around 9pm. Not bad considering I had 4G, Wifi, GPS, NFC and Auto-Sync on all day today and listened to almost 1 hour worth of podcasts on my commute so the device was awake for a long time.
I suspect manual settings of brightness at 25% would give pretty good battery life as well but not necessary when you're indoors with lights.
Maybe still not a 3 day phone I think but with [my] light usage it will definitely be a 2 day phone.
Mine is great

My G2 is getting Crap battery life!

Hi Guys,
My LG G2 D802 is getting totally unacceptable battery life. I've tried everything but I just don't know what's killing the battery. I've actually got 4 hours screen time max (which is average for the G2) but I was expecting much more. Today, I've barely got 2 hours 45 mins screen time and 22% left... This is just mostly from reading facebook, xda, news apps etc. I've even turned sync to a minimum and am using easy battery saver so when my screen if of, data is off and syncs once every 30 mins for 15s. I have no idea why Android OS and especially Android System( in screenshots below, its used almost 50% of the battery).
What to do? I've attached screenshots of my battery usage and better battery stats.
Thanks
Sean

honestly thats about what I get.....stop comparing your stats to other. most of the time the people that have huge screen on time is because they stay in wifi areas all day, turn down brightness to 0 and turn off syncing completely.

I have sync on absolute min... I've disabled it almost... I was expecting much more from the G2... Even my old Xperia Z1 got 3 hours screen time.. I was at least expecting 5... Anyways, I've always got a strong signal (mostly 3G+4G) and use wifi for 1-2 hours a day so I really cannot understand that.
Also, I'm quite sure that the Android System and OS shouldn't be using so much battery... Something is definetly wrong there...

Not so. I get 5-6hrs screen on and usually go about 16-18hrs between charges. On the heavily modded stock rom. I have Facebook/Twitter & 2 email accounts and only control syncing with battery guru. I'm never on WiFi because my ISP stinks. I live in a great 4g area and have unlimited data so that's what I use.

If you haven't already, I recommend you download the Gsam Battery Monitor app (available in playstore).
Take screen shots of every menu in that app after you've used your phone from 100% down to 10% and post in this comparative analysis thread.
For your reference, I get anywhere between 4hrs to a maximum of 6hrs of screen-on time depending on usage.
get cpu spy and check what frequency your cpu is at most of the time when not sleeping.
try a couple of battery depletion then charge till full cycles. If no improvement factory reset and try from there.
turn off gps/bleutooth/carrier iq if its enabled btw.

I remove almost every bloated lg app from stock rom. But with 1 hour screen time with max 30% brightness screen is not the bigger drainer. It is android system with 37% usage. Processor worked 5 minutes, waking was 4 minutes. Yet how this could be bigger drainer than one hour screen time.

How often have you ran it down to 10%?
Are you using the OEM charger?
If you have like a 1000mah or 550mah charger, I'd try doing a slow charge overnight (it'll take 4hrs on a 550mah charger) to see if your battery life is improved.

I've been draining down to below 10% each time I've used it (5-6 times)... When I root later, shall I use one of those battery calibration apps? Trickle charge is out of the question for me as I don't have time at night to charge it and I use the OEM charger always... Let me root, try greenify some stuff and see if it helps...

I don't like leaving stuff on the charger and going to bed... I usually forget to turn it off
it should help recondition. just keep it on charger half hour after it says its charged.
At this point I would recommend doing a factory reset on a full stock rom. On earlier phones debloating could have caused a lot of errors and thus weird stuff happening we want to eliminate that. So going back to full stock might be last way of eliminating all else. After that I think hardware issue.
on full stock seek ways to disable that iq cartier, disable locations and switch off gps etc. Perhaps via recents, go to task manager then menu bitton and services. Disable all you dont use and check battery life.
this is all I know.
btw, this is first phone I didnt need to debloat to get amazing life

But isnĀ“t debloating something to improve battery life little bit? Because all LG system stock apps drain quite a lot from battery.
amazing battery life for me
Iv been having amazing battery life. Yesterday from 7am-11pm the phone only got down to 47%. Of course with everything shut off untill im on wifi at home and when im not using data i shut it off. The one thing i know that uses wayyyy to much battery is google now. I turn it off and clear the data and cache. I even have my brightness at 50%. Right now the phones has been on for 5 1/2hrs unplugged and its at 90%. used pandora, watched a video on adult swim app and some light browsing.

Terrible battery life. Compare battery stats!!

I am only getting around 5-6 hrs of screen on time with moderate usage. Android system and android os are probably the main problem that is causing this battery drain. Can you guys show me how ur battery life is and if u are having the same problems.
Also does ur battery stats show mobile data turned on even when it is off??
That's not bad, it is average for a phone with such power. The Note 3 was the same way. That is why they made and sold the Zero lemon battery and case for it. Which was three batteries combined.
Mines been up 13 hours and is down to 57% with the screen being 37% of the load becuase I keep brightness on max at a times. I also have bluetooth on all the time for my car as well as SPARK looking for a connection all the time.
Yeah 5 to 6 hours of screen on time is pretty good. I would say if you want anything more you need to get an extended battery.

If your wifi sleeps when the screen is off, it will use 3/4G to collect data. I wonder if that is better or worse?
I believe the wifi scanning will drain the battery more. If you are truely concerned, you can download deep sleep battery saver and it will turn everything off.
I consider that Pretty good battery life coming from the n5.

I'm actually very happy with my battery life. I had a rooted GS3 before the Note 4 and I bought the ZeroLemon extended battery for the S3. I had decent battery life on that but I use my phone so much, with the screen on, that I wanted to stay off the charger for more than 4-5 hours at a time.
I was concerned about the battery life with the Note 4 before I got it because I've never had a Galaxy Note before. I have to say that I absolutely love the phone and the battery life I've been getting! I'm not rooted, at least not yet. I'm getting 6.5 to just over 8 hours of screen on with moderate to heavy usage. I am on WiFi almost all the time. I hardly make or receive phone calls but I do text and use WhatsApp a lot. No Bluetooth, no NFC, haptic feedback turned off for everything, brightness turned down very low. Mobile data turned off when I'm home since I'm on WiFi. I use the s-pen quite a bit. I use Tasker to change some settings when I go out, come home, etc. I play games (Restaurant Story, Stand O' Food, and some others daily), watch YouTube, Facebook, XDA app, lots of reading articles using Chrome Beta, lots of apps that I'm sure don't tax the phone too much. I use the black background for every app that has it as an option. Now if I've been playing GTA: San Andreas then the battery crashes fast. LOL But that's expected.
Anyway, I'm just trying to give an idea of what I do on my phone. I consider my usage to be pretty heavy but everyone has their own opinion of what heavy or moderate usage means.
Edit: amazingly I just hit 9 hours of screen on. I'm down to 2%. Now that I hit 9 hours I can plug my charger in. LOL Saw it getting close so I waited.

Post your battery life info *stock rom only*

Hey guys, I'm using the iPhone 6 plus now and I'm seriously thinking about switching back to android. Just can't stand iOS. My only concern is the battery life since I got excellent battery life on the 6 plus. From the reviews every reviewer says it's very good battery life but I need to hear real experience from actual users here. How is the standby time? Screen on time? Please stock rom only and please post screen on time and overal battery screenshot. Thanks!!
Standby time? Lol I've been on it too much for that. Battery is excellent don't sweat the move from iphone.

My iPhone 6 plus has exceptional standby time so it gives me a feeling that the battery is endless. For example, how much juice does the note 4 lose overnight? (7-8 hours)

Bluetooth and wifi always on, pebble connected, poor coverage area. I keep it set to pick up lte when available, but I only have edge where I live. I travel a lot though and still get good life when I actually get lte. I haven't tweaked anything (yet). Be warned that my first charge gave abysmal life. It wasn't until the second or third charge that I started getting decent life, so don't worry when your first charge runs to nothing after 8 hours.

Around 0 to 1 percent. Maybe 2 if I get a bunch of notifications. My fiance has the iPhone 6 plus, trust me my note 4 destroys her iPhone in battery. With light to moderate use I'm easily getting 2 full days ( I send roughly 500-600 texts, maybe 20 emails, at least 20 phone calls, navigate to appointments and I'm always on pandora....also I have a moto 360 connected all day). When I'm doing heavy usage I get about 24 hours or so. But my heavy usage is actually HEAVY. I can almost guarantee you don't use your phone more than me. You will be fine with battery life.

I turn on power saving mode at 100% when i go to bed, and when I wake up 5 hrs later I'm usually at 99% or 98%. Without power saving mode, I wake up to 96%.
I can easily get through a full day at Disney World (about 8 hrs) with light usage - mixed use of wifi and 4g, checking the disney app and checking my farmville farm, and checking feedly. I usually leave Disney with about 50% juice left. Brightness on auto, wifi on, bluetooth off, gps on.
I've tested streaming as well. On 4g, starting at 100% charge, I can stream about 4 hour long episodes on Netflix, on Plex it's usually a little longer than that before it hits 50%. At home on wifi, I can stream about double that amount before hitting 50%.
I'm pretty happy about the battery life, and the best part is I can always remove the battery if this one goes bad, or bring spares on trips. I can live with Touchwiz if it means I can have removable batteries, sd card, and the pen.

I've done multiple tests on this. I will charge it up at night 100% then leave it off charger for the night, look in the morning. I'm averaging 3-4% discharge per night which is not too bad. My Nexus 5 was a ridiculous 10-15%. Still nothing close to iPhone that just doesn't go down if you don't use it.
I leave all things on. Don't really want a phone that acts like a 2002 device.
Hey all,
Ok So My battery is at 23% with 4 hours 45 min of screen time and it's been of the charger for 1 day 20 hrs 15 min and 20 sec
The phone charge so fast and it is amazing. I dont know if I want to do that in the long run bc fast ch arging is bad on battery!
I have a nice battery charger and it says charging the battery slow will last longer per charge and longer life cycle itself too.
So what do you do?

I returned the iPhone and have used the Note for 2 days now. Battery is... Well, not as good as I expected. At least not comparable to the iPhone 6 plus. But I don't sweat on this since it does take quote some time for Android battery to kick in. I kinda wish Samsung didn't push the pixels since it's truly a battery drain. Also the GPS drains battery too. These 2 functions on the iPhone are very efficient.
And yes fast charge is wonderful. I say don't worry about the battery since it's fairly cheap.

Simple fixes.
1.) Make sure you screen brightness is on auto
2.) Put on a background that is dark, or mostly black
3.) Set your location to device only (GPS only)
4.) Turn the run time to ART
You will easily see an increase in battery life.
Below is my normal battery life. And an example of a good background to use.
Had about 5.5 hours of screen on time.

I actually switched from GPS only to power saving. I have quite a few email syncing tho. One interesting thing... Are you sure we should be on art? I heard its not fully compatible.

ART bogs down my phone so I don't use it. Also during boot up, it take forever to finish as it tries to optimize some apps every time. About 39 on mine. This makes my phone super hot and there's no way to bypass this process. I say ART is a bad idea.

Urgent question about battery (replace it or not under first 14 days?)

everybody,
I am totally new on here. It is the first forum to pop up, when I was searching about battery for Galaxy S7 Edge.
So here is my problem... I bought my S7 Edge 6 day ago. That is 1st of september. I must say, that I tottally love it. Nice design, works good, beautiful.
But after the first 3 days of playing with it and tweeking it to my liking, I started using it more normaly... so not playing with it ALL the time. And I couldnt help but notice that the didnt get me throguh the whole day like it did on previous phone.
My previous phone was LG G3 and the battery was great for about year and half. Meaning, it survived till bed time (around 21-22 for me). But this phone was on 10% at 6 pm.
At first I thought it was because I did not charge it over night, but more about that later.
So yestrday I went on the internet and browsed a bit, and found that people usually get about 7hr of SoT with 20% battery left (with no power saving modes). Well mine had 4hr 50min SoT and 15% battery left (23hrs total use)... doesnt seem normal at all.
So yestrday when I got home I plugged in my phone and started browsing about this... i was online till about 3.30 am and that is when I UNPLUGGED my phone. I only went to set the alarm clock and in the first 2 MINUTES after unplugging it drained to 97%... "Okay", I said to my self and went to sleep. This morning I woke up to 93% battery (i slept about 6 or 7 hours so normal drain, i guess)... i had the night watch on and i also have aod on. Anyways... I thought that all is good and i went to get my coffe and went to check something on youtube and I didnt even start the video and it drained for 1%...
So I decied to post on here about my problem.
Now bare in mind, I woke up at... checked the battery... went on youtube...saw that drain...decided to post here and i have been typing this post on my s7 edge...
I have 40 minutes of SOT and it drained from 93% to 83%...right NOW. That is 10% in less than an hout of only typing a text on a forum... many people reported that they were on YouTube for a whole hour and lost about 1-2%. And here I am typing on forum for less than an hour
All I currently have on is 4G (LTE) and Chrome browser to type on this forum. I have AOD on but its not in use right now since I am using the device.... also auto brightness and 3 bars of signal.
Now tell me is something wrong with me or with my phone? I dont get it. Should i go to my provider and get a new one? Do you think this one came with a bad battery?
Should I go to my provider and replace it?
I dont know what to do and I hope you will be able to help me. ((
As i Finish this post, i am left with 82% battery... i think even my LG G3 lasted longer to get to 82% and its 2014 phone with 3000mAh if im correct.
Thanks for your help guys
Oh also I am sorry if I posted in the wrong section. Tell me and I will do my best to find the right one.
And also what I should mention is, that I have the Exynos version.
Another update.
So after i posted, I deliberately went on youtube and was watching videos for a full one hour and few minutes on 4g data. And came from 82% to 71%.
My current battery stats are:
Total time: 2hr 8min
SoT: 1hr 55min
As i am finishing this post i have exactly 70% left.
So here is my report i hope you can help me as much as ppossible, if its normal or not, if i should replace it or not. I just think that based on report of other my battery os worse. Some people have like even 1day 14hrs total time and a crazy 7.5 or 8 hrs of SoT.. mine was tops 1d and sot of almost 5 hrs... and well you can see from my forst post how it drained...
Hope i am not complicating and over reacting but i want to get the best out of this phone for the money i spent
And another update.
I talked on phone with my friend, who has LG G3, for 40 minutes.
It drained my battery from 69% to 63%.
It is funny because in the exact same time his phone also drained 9% of battery. Thats why i called him actually. And it shouldnt be like this. Cause his phone is older and has a 3000mah battery... so how can consumption be the same?
I don't know your usage pattern my friend or how is cell reception quality in your area, but I can tell you that your battery life will only get better after a few days/weeks.
Android will settle down, learn your usage pattern, optimize apps that use battery in the background but you never use, etc. Your battery too, chemically, will hold a charge more efficiently after a few charge cycles.
I've been using my Galaxy S7 Edge for 2 weeks now (with a custom ROM/kernel though), and I got 6h54m of screen-on time yesterday (auto-brightness) when I went to bed (15% battery left). That's something I've not seen since my good old Galaxy S3.
Give your phone some time to settle down, cache the stuff it needs, etc.
Thx for the reply.
Well I have around 3 bars of 4g signal in my area.
Like I said I have had it since last thursday. Ive been using the phone since 10.30 and its 14.08 now and i have 59% and i have 2hrs 15 min SoT. (Total time around 3hrs).
I really do hope it will break in,settle in, chemichally like you said... because right now i feel its same or just a bit worse than lg g3 i had last week (which was 2 yrs old). And that is not logical to me, that a new phone has same battery stats as a 2 yrs old phone.
What were your stats the first week or two and when did it start settling in and getting better?
4G + YouTube for one hour and You only lost 11%? Your battery is really good. Also 40 minutes of call and 6% drain is once again really good.
Usually using 4G for internet and calls or videos drains battery unbelievably quickly. I get around 5:30 hr SOT with a custom rom and a custom kernel but only when I have WiFi only without 4G enabled. With 4G I would probably have like 2-3 hours of SOT if not less lol.
I've had many phones, chinese, low end, mid end, high end, iPhones. And so far S7 Edge has the best battery. Even some of those phones had a 4000mah battery and were really power efficient, but they still had worse battery life than my S7 Edge.
The results that You have are really good. Nothing to be worried about. Replacing battery might only give You a worse one or a identical one.
Edit: Just checked and G3 has 40-50k antutu benchmark score. And (my) S7 Edge 146k. It's kind of obvious that it will drain battery a tiny bit faster. Other than that display goes there too or even things like better signal(4G module) boards that take more power but still give You better signal in some situations.
I think that you are overreacting. Your battery life seems pretty good. It will vary for everyone and is really dependent on usage patterns. 7-8 hours of SOT is an absolute best case and not many people will actually achieve that. Most people will fall in the 4-6 hours of SOT with normal use. I typically get 4.5 hours of SOT and 28-30 hours total.
Edit: I have gotten over 7 hours of SOT once, when I was at home all day playing games on my phone. Also, the Exynos processor version seems to have better battery life than the Snapdragon version. Which one you have is based on location typically.
Thanks guys! Thank for comforting me. I feel much better. I guess many of those reporting those crazy SoTs are in reading news in a dark room lol.
Well i have 40% left. But i was literally on my phone since 10.30 and on 4g all the time (except that phone call, during calls i disable it).
Otherwise I am really, really happy with this phone. When i bought lg g3 i had a bit buyers remorse... with this one i have mone (although lg was phenomenal!).
Also if someone withi same worries will read this... i noticed that stock browser is faster than chrome and it drains less batrery than chrome. So I will try to get used to the stock browser, also for something new, cuz i have been using chrome for ever now.
And it also has fingerprint to log into sites (stock one)
Last update on this charge.
Right now i have 4hr 40 minutes of SoT. And 20% battery left. I enabled battery saver at 25%.
Total time of battery is almost 16hrs.
And i have to say that at around 14pm i was browsing on chrome for like and hour or maybe 2 hours and id say thats pretty heavy for the device. On chrome which eats ram like dragon.
Thanks again guys for helping.
But still nothinf compared to those guys that are getting 6hrs or 7 or even 8.
Thats like 2 to 3 hrs more than mine. Either they are having all functions turnes off (smart capture, edge feed etc) and brightness to lowest possible...or my i am doing something wrong. Haha

Chrome is a ram killer on every device. Mostly Windows.
For now I have a 5:30 hr SOT (today) but with some battery saving tweaks(custom kernel too) and WiFi all day.
Like I said Your battery is pretty good cause my phone with 4G enabled would get not more than 2:30hr SOT. Maybe my carrier has poor signal and the phone needs more power for antennas to see signal. I've no idea.
I also think there's nothing wrong with your battery, I usually get around 5 hours of SoT, right now I habe 5 hrs 12 min of SoT and it's been 16 hours since last full charge, also I have 32% left, It's about the best usage time I have ever gotten.
The difference may be that today I turned the gps off and set the auto brightness.
People reporting over 7 hours of SoT are most likely using a custom Rom or custom kernel, or apps like greenify to hibernate apps and background process.
I used to have a LG G3 before this phone and the battery was anything near this momster, and has been getting worse over time, now it barely last 2 or 3 hours of SoT and the pone gets reaaaaally hot.
I have read that the battery seems to last longer if you dissable the quick charge option.
Btw, while writing this my battery drained 1%.
I see that you came to this forum by clicking the firts link that came out in google, well lucky you, this is one of the best android forums out there, most of the greates achievement in android have seen the light here, give it a chance and you'll find a lot of help and information on here

Oh, one last thing, I strongly advise not to get your battery replaced, the phone needs to be oppened to replace it and it will lost its water resistant for ever

Well let me report again.
Yesterday I activated power saving at 25% and used it normally and tried my best not to plug it in.
I plugged it in at around 3 am with 2% left. Before that I was on 9gag and facebook and got around 1 more hour SOT. Before plugging it in I checked battery stats and I had around 23 hours total use, if i recall correctly and 6hr and some minutes of SOT, and I'd say I was pretty hard on the phone yestrday with all the youtube and 4g and chrome browsing.
Right now i have total time 2hr 36min and sot 1hr 33min and im on 80%.
I feel better now that you guys told me its actually pretty good battery and I thank you for that!
Btw do you guys suggest any apps that kill background apps that i am not using? Or is samsungs system pretty okay in doing that? I never really used app killers on any phone before.
Thx
Oh also, i have to say that i use location only when i need it. And also wifi and 4g. BT always off also NFC. Most of these are off...they are on only wheen needed. And i have almost all advenced functions turned on (AOD, Night watch, smart capture, direct call etc...) i really like them and i use them. And they are awesome, so why turn them off. Im saying these because probably some sensors are needed to be turned on to and this drains battery.
But still i am happy with the phone and battery, especcially now that you guys told me all the good stuff

I'd say that process/app killers are going to make Your phone less smooth. Your phone caches the apps in the background and this way it launches them 2x as fast. And some apps when You clean backround processes will pretty much restart themselves immediately and slow down Your phone
I could only advice You to clean cache/apt cache every month. That should give You more space and refresh Your apps. But even if You were not going to do that, Your performance wouldn't be slower anyway .
This phone is powerful enough to run windows xp at a decent speed(tried it out yesterday) and it has a lot of internal code that makes sure that everything is clean and smooth.
I guess that this is how S7 Edge works. Yesterday I was 50% battery left when I went home after working. With my note 4 I left the office with a 75% battery full. Thou I dint have AOD in the nothe 25% battery for that it seems too much so I installed several xposed modules and from today Im testing batterys consumption. My note didnt have LTE to I will check the % used with LTE, tomorrow Ill test with 3g and comapre the results, maybe LTE requires more power. Also, after this tests Ill disable AOD and Ill test it again...

App killers are really a bad idea, in android free ram is wasted ram, the phone uses more resources to start the aplications again everytime you need it, it is far better to have them loaded in ram so they can open faster and with less effort to the phone. Android manage ram and background apps based on priorities defined for every app. just let the system handle the ram on its own and it will be fine.
You can, however, use greenify to hibernate (not the same ass kill) the apps running on background, that way they stop consuming resources untill the app is woken up by user or other app.
In general, any app or wakelock that prevents your phone from going into deep sleep are the main causes of battery drain while the phone is idle.
You can search on this forum for a guide on how to use greenify along with amplify to obtain almost 0% battery drain while the phone is idle, but you going to need to read a lot.

Update:
Today for the first time I got 9 hrs of SoT
I think is interesting since the only different thing I did was turn the gps off and ser the auto brightness at 50%
Could it be that after a month of use the phone finally adapted and is managing the energy better?
I think 3 hours more of SoT than usual just for dissable the gps and set auto brightness is too much.
I hope I can still get this amazing battery life in the future
