Galaxy S3 is here now: It’s the Galaxy Note, says VP of Samsung Telecommunications

So is he implying that Samsung will start new line of mobiles not called Galaxy S with the new ‘so much anticipated’ device by Samsung? Find out and judge reading whole article.

IMHO that is what he is implying . new line of devices, maybe highest/exclusive/vip shelf - very expensive, superb design. strong metal casing like in wave not that plastic crap from galaxy s series, latest tech specs latest gorilla and so on. and ofc as leaks shows galaxy series will still be developed but as a mid class of mobiles with crappier plastic casing and not so high tech spec and design.
I think this guy has no clue but decided that selling more Notes is a good thing anyway.
Galaxy note is just S2 on steroids. It is not a successor.

At the rate samsung pops out phones... most of the devices are nothing but successors... so dont expect much... even if there is S3 there will be another S3+ after that... making the previous device obsolete within weeks to month..

They are not absolute successors. I think Samsung has a motto, a phone for every need. And that is what they have been doing. And quite surprisingly ask if their phones sell very well.
Definitely there will be a S3+, but not so soon. There has not been a solid S2+ it anything and it has been an year since the phone launched. And all these phones well not interfere with their flagship device as they will be priced much lesser with inferior features.

keep also in mind that this guy is vp for uk and ireland... yet
i still stand my ground with opinion that the device that is so much anticipated will be launched before olympics and iphone and might be inderpendent and new line of products with some exclusive smooth and solid (ceramic metal) design and latest exynos 4core creating something like exclusive top shelf phones with all them low budget like galaxy ace 2, mid range like sgs 2,g note and the new device creating the bleeding edge expensive samsung phone
we will see

Reminds me of some of.those top business model nokia and sony Ericsson used to make and never actually make a dent on the market cuz of the overpriced tag and not so practical functionality.

I don't see a single sentence in that article supporting your speculations about a luxury line?

and substance to this rumour?
FYI the Note is out, it came out after the S2, therefore it is a successor (in time). The headline is attributed to the author, not the interviewee.
Stanford did not say the Note was the S3, nor did he say an S3 was not coming, and he certainly did not say an S3 would be (more of) a premium line as you intimate..
Perhaps i should point out that the chap in question has a job to sell phones in the UK.. that job consists of
a) milking the S2, and
b) pushing the Note and
c) ignoring ANY phone that is not available for sale..
So why not lets read the article for what it is.. a sales pitch for the Note and nothing more.

Interesting commentary on Note sales

http://www.channelregister.co.uk/2012/06/08/ipad_sales_fall/
El Reg has an interesting article on iPad sales, which mentions the Note and its meteoric rise!
The Note related part is quoted here:
Premakumar said the rise of Samsung has been more marked since the autumn, "predominantly driven by the Galaxy Note whose sales through distribution has increased by over twenty times between October and April".
Back in October Samsung sold 3,519 Notes but this had soared to 73,390 by April, accounting for 75 per cent of Samsung's total tablet sales.

If you read full article, it states at the end:
Readers may dispute that the Note is a fondleslab but Context categorises any device with a five inch screen size or larger as a tablet.

Personally, I consider it both a phone and a tablet - I use it as my primary phone, and my tablets seldom get used over the Note.

We all have seen this already,
Who doesn't remember the golden days of nokia for example?? This is being a race for brands to get up to the top with ideas and devices. Today it's samsung tomorrow some other brand makes a revolutionary new device and sells like.....
One thing i've noticed is that all brands and devices have lack of durability and finnishing touches, take the htc's it seems they are manufactured with a lot of gaps, apple has some probelms too..... Samsung also has some problems, if i give 500€ for a device it should be top of tops in durability and performance. I know software related bugs are being solved in all brands, i know that they all want get their investment money back as soon as possible but maybe it's time to look at the finnished product and give us more quality.
IMO Samsung HW build quality is not even close to Nokia. Even HTC's build quality is better than Samsung (I have HD2). Problem with Nokia nowadays, is that, of HW specs. Samsung's HW specs, specifically the high end ones are just top notch. Design however is pathetic.

Actually, I don't think it's hardware specs so much as software, that's the source of Nokia's woes.
They staked the farm on WP7, when moving to Android or continuing to develop Meego would've been a far better bet.

Dave
Nokia high quality?

I work @ an finish operator and i have to say nokia phones suck. Most of nokia phones goes to service within 4 months of usage, and then it comes back and nothing is fixed. approximately one phone gets 3 round trips to service here :/
Samsung gets lots and lots of complaints about slow update processes.
We do not customize our android roms so we should get them fast, but samsung is so bad at updating android so i would like to give our customers the links to xda.

What Does This Mean For Us?

According to this article Sammy decided to discontinue production of the Note 7. Therefore that should make the S7 top dog again right?.. At least until the S8 next year. What I'm saying is maybe we're going to end up with Nougat a bit sooner?.. Since Samsung only has 1 flagship to focus on at this point.. Any other thoughts out there?
http://www.theverge.com/2016/10/11/13202608/samsung-galaxy-note-7-discontinued
It may speed up the Nougat process a bit but I wouldn't hold my breath. I know T-Mobile is in the early testing stages still so we'll see I guess.
It means we'll get it when we get it. Everything else is just Internet scuttlebutt.
Probably means that developers who had the note 7 probably changed to a S7 or Edge, which will probably speed up unlocking bootloader and more subscribers to this forum section. Hopefully we get the latest Android by Christmas.
Thoughts?

Well I'm planing get the s7 edge after retuning my Note 7 so hopefully more people coming to this way and pick up this sección with more rom , mod etc. ..
More updates faster N

This like everything else is a misunderstanding. They are NOT going to ditch the Iris scanning tech, the s-pen and the rest. They have to much invested in the pen and the apps that go along with it. It would be beyond stupid to do so. My best bet would be no more phone labeled Note since the name is so tainted. I would bet we see an S8, S8 Edge and S8 Pro next year with tons of 3rd party reports of verification before launch of any. I would also bet that the many, many other series of phones will go by the wayside so they can focus on them.
We'll see but I am very skeptical about them ditching the tech from the Note 7.

I agree 100% with you. There's no way you can just abandon something like that. Esp. when that was a huge selling point for a like of people.

someone should create the 'second screen' case like LG G8 has!

Now that would be best for the note.
That's a Flossy review.
It would be interesting.. And I bet now that LG has it(I have always thought LG was a daughter company of Samsung anymore), iit wouldn't surprise me a bit if we'r saw one come out soon...

maybe for a future samsung device, but 0% chance for the note 10. Needs to be built first party and the OS needs to customized for this. Samsung is busy on other things.
that is interesting, but no one is going to make it unless samsung finances dev. Also battery drain for extra screen, wifi/bt/usb for display would be a killer. Kinda a poor mans "fold". Like already stated you need core OS support as this is not mirroring, it's dial screen.
But with the bezeless design, a simple book case from Samsung is the kind of thing they would release.
samsung have this dual screen, it costs 2000$ and called Galaxy Fold.
Rightly said if we have one like that itll be crazy !!

Why would Samsung waste time and money on this? They have the fold that is their clear direction for the future. Not an extra dual screen for your smartphone

Because it's a good solution for all existing Samsung users, and something very 'Samsung' to sell.
I actually read an article yesterday that Samsung already has a patent for this type of device. And along with Microsoft, LG and who knows whom else, this type of display, could be an accessory add on. I mean the note for one would be a huge device with the two screens. And Samsung obviously(with all of their experiments over the years) has no problem making devices and accessories just to set how they stick and sell. Over the 8 to 9 years I've used Samsung devices(notes) they have done some clever add on experiments. They have the money to do it. After all, the note itself was originally an experiment.
But honestly, with the way they seem to think, they'd probably make it for the S series versus the note.. Ugh..
But it's all speculation..

That's so damn cool with a reasonable prics, it even has its separate hardware (especially a battery), but the note 10 plus isn't listed.
Or you could try 3rd party... - https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/...l&utm_campaign=bck-11142019update&utm_term=#/
