Blocked Galaxy S5 SM-G900R6 - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi People.
First of all, to the admins, I verify my question over the forum. Found some post about my model SM-G900R6 , but didn’t found an answer to what I need. I you believe this post have to be deleted, just do it, and I am sorry for any trouble.
Well,
I have a Samsung Galaxy SM-G900R6. I bought it in the street. I verify the model info and it is a CMDA phone. I verify some web pages for the IMEI and it didn’t appear in blacklist. But I believe somehow the company in which this phone was working (whom I don’t know which is) is blocking the phone.
The phone right now is working using Wi-Fi. And:
1. Don’t let me use the codes or the service menu.
2. Don’t show me the network operator’s option.
3. Don’t show me any way to set the APN.
Things that I did:
1. I rooted it. And found some apps to try to change network or make thenetwrk operator working. None of them works for me.
2. I try to install a Custom firmware (cyanogenmod 13, and made the backup with TWRP Recover, wipe all, and flashing it. But it didn’t work.
3. Flashing OTA rom from other galaxy 5 models, none of them works.
What I believe is happening?
1. I believe my phone IMEI is blocked on the CMDA networks in my area.
2. I think the best way is to change that IMEI. But I tried a lot of methods but none of them works.
What I want?
1. I just want to connect the phone to a carrier.
Any clues or Help?
Thanks

Changing the IMEI is illegal and will not be allowed to be discussed on XDA IIRC

URGENT Help! Emergency Calls Only

i'm sorry for the long post, i really appreciate your help
i really need help to get this galaxy s3 GT-I9300 to regonize my sim card.
i bought it from ebay i've used it for a long time works fine,
but because it's an unlocked version and from ebay i'm not sure what region it is
i messed with rooting and stuff and decided to do "restore to stock".
i thought it'd be easy like the nexus or iphone, i followed this guide. it restored the system apps/firmware fine but still keeps all existing data instead of deleting them like it said.
and then when it boots it shows "LaFleur" which i never saw before
and now it's "emergency calls only" does not recognize sim (100% not the physcial sim card problem)
i tried this but did not work.
i also went to settings -> mobile networks-> search results were AT&T (correct carrier i'm using) but it says "your sim card does not allow a connection to this network"
i know i made something wrong with the software not hardware but i can't understand why official tool (Samsung Kies) broke my device.
Please help because i receive a lot of calls so i need to get this working again ASAP. Thanks a lot
I'm sorry i just realized that i posted in the wrong forum, it should be in Q&A
By using kies you've restored what ever firmware the phone was manufactured with, it doesn't sound like an unlocked handset.
Instead follow the guide in general forum, stickies, to flash your own countries generic rom, then factory reset.
Your network issue is likely to be a result of the handset not being properly unlocked. None of the free patches to unlock work with newer firmwares -by updating you've reinstated the network lock. If you made a backup of the efs folder before you started then you might be able to restore and go back to a firmware that can be patched.
Otherwise you've have to buy an unlock code.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
I also have the feelings that this phone was not properly unlocked. So the eBay guy sold me not a factory unlocked version but a version he unlocked on his own?
Forgot to mention my IMEI is now 0049... My baseband now has "BELL" in it (Canada carrier?) Also it does show the phone number in About-Status. But network state is out of service.
I don't understand how an official program changed my IMEI to a generic one and I have no EFS backup.
Mod Edit
Please refer to the stickies in General before posting.

[Q] N9005 not getting any signal?

Hey guys,
I know this is a fairly "common" question but im a bit stuck.
I just bought my N9005 (second hand) and it cant get any cell reception. 4G, 3G and Edge are all working perfectly but I can not make calls. When ever I try to make a call it says "No mobile network available"
If I go to Settings and choose a network, a notification will pop up saying "No service" and below "Selected netwrok (BASE) unavailable".
Now I flashed CM11 and factory reset the phone but now when I choose a mobile network, it will endlessly say Registering on Base.
Eventually it registers but gives me the same error as mentioned above.
I have checked if the IMEI is set to null like it seems to be the case on some phones but its not and after checking the IMEI it isnt blacklisted either.
I found some file called "WriteIMEI.zip" on the phone if that is any indication to what is going on with this phone?
Please refrain from all the comments about paying more attention when buying phones, im looking for help please.
Thank you.
EDIT: I found this on google, I dont know what it means but maybe someone could elaborate
N9005 AND N900w8 are Similer You can Reset EFS and repair IMEI and 3g Network for N9005 in N900w8

1. Backup efs, fsc, fsg partitions using efsbackup (thread in forum).
2. Do not ever flash anything before doing step 1.
3. Ask seller what this writeimei.zip is about.
4. Post his answer here
5. (Optionally - do step 1 to 4 before flashing) flash back to stock. If the phone was originally bought you most likely need the Luxemburg rom.

[Q] Roaming, cannot register on network

Hey,
I flashed my device some time ago and I broke the glass. I sent to a repair shop and since then I'm stuck on roaming and I can't register to my network (Videotron).
When I use auto connect, it uses Videotron PRTNR which is videotron's partner network (rogers).
I want to install the stock firmware but I've tried to install about 7 of them from sammobile or samsung-updates, all of them show BMC (BELL) or EUR at the end of the firmware version in kies.
Kies refuses to let me install the stock firmware from the firmware upgrade and initialization it says "This version of the device cannot be updated."
I want to be absolutely sure it's not my firmware that's causing the problem before accusing the repair shop....
Does anybody have any idea?

The way you worded your post is confusing. Did the glass shop break your phone or did your flashing cause the issue? We need to know exactly what you did and a lot more information about your phone configuration if you want good advice. You didn't even tell us which S5 variant you have, the specific firmware versions you refer to or give us a verbatim log of what Odin said when you tried to install (an unspecified) firmware version. All of which are critical details.
Some obvious first steps, try your SIM in another unlocked phone to confirm that the SIM and your account are working properly. Also try a friend's SIM in your phone and see what the result is. Check your phone settings for inadvertent changes of course. And list what your phone settings are for us! Clear your system cache from recovery mode.
If you still have problems, try writing a stock firmware with Odin, followed by a factory data reset. Then give us a detailed, step by step description of what you tried and the results for a start.

My apologies for the lack of information
I have the SM-G900W8 model, using Videotron as my network provider. I believe the roaming issue did not exist before the repair, but they won't believe me since I have a custom rom installed.
While my phone was being repair I've used a galaxy S3 and it started roaming... I thought it was normal since the phone is from Bell (Unlocked) and maybe the network aren't compatible.
I tried what you suggested and inserted my Sim card into my girlfriend's Videotron Galaxy S3 and it still says roaming. I guess the problem must be with the sim card or videotron's network?
And about the roms I tried on my S5 :
=> with Phoenix rom v2, the problem is there.
=> With a couple of original SM-G900W8 stock rom (found on sammobile website) flashed with odin , the problem is still there.
I did try to clear the cache etc...
I forgot, the latest rom I flashed is named G900W8VLU1ANF4_G900W8OYA1ANF4_G900W8VLU1ANF4_HOME.tar.md5.
Please let me know if I forgot something :fingers-crossed:

Critical point that. If I understand your reply, the problem remains when you try your SIM in your girlfriend's phone. That shows the problem to be independent of your phone i.e. it is a problem with your SIM or more likely, account. Especially if your girlfriend doesn't have this issue with her own SIM.
Talk to your carrier's support department and if they can't resolve it immediately, open a ticket for them to look into it further. Based on what you described it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the glass repair people. It's just an account problem that happened to occur while your glass was being repaired.
Let us know what support says or if anything changes. If you're ambitious, post your network settings here for review, just in case they impact on the issue in some way. Still it seems to be an account issue.

I contacted the technical support team and they are working on it.
Thanks for the help, I'll post if they fix it or if I find the solution myself.

I am also with Videotron.
Try to use the Search for Network, not the auto connect and see if Videotron is available from that menu.
If it is not, be sure that there is a Videotron cell tower near you otherwise it will default to Videotron PRTNR which is the normal behavior if the Videotron signal is out of reach.

The firmware that I found on sammobile and that I flashed on my S5 is G900W8VLU1ANF4_G900W8OYA1ANF4_VTR.zip (note the VTR at the end which is the Videotron variant).

Sprint V20: Carrier Swap Help Requested (Post covers bootloader, ESN, everything)

Phone Information
Phone Number: Last owner shows up, want this cleared
Android Version: 7.0
Build Number: NRD90M
Software Version: LS997ZV6
Security software: MDF V2.0 release 4
OEM Unlock (On)
USB Debugging (On)
PROBLEM: A sprint V20 was brought to me to have the carrier swapped from [Sprint] to [Cricket]. So far sounds easy right? Read below...
Please Review the following of my step by step :
ESN IS LISTED AS CLEAR ON SWAPPA, please note that means this device "should" not have issues (first thing I checked)
Under APN settings there is no way to +add APN as there is with every other phone I have touched. Is this because it was a lease?
I considered perhaps rooting the phone, throwing on a custom ROM, and therefore hopefully having that added. Looks like bootloader is locked.
Of course, I am 1 security patch too late, DIRTYSANTA will NOT work on my firmware.
Searched everywhere, seems as though you CAN NOT roll this back.
Next I looked at using Chimera Tool to roll back the firmware. I cannot seem to find a ZV5 firmware file.
Next I looked at using chimera for IMEI repair. I figured if I change the IMEI just long enough to modify the APN settings then revert it back, I would be golden. Chimera gave me an error of not having access to the ports. I tried to dial in the following codes to enable port check but none have access to the "hidden menu". 277634#*#, 3845#*997#, *#546368#*997#. I tried to factory reset the phone, no luck.
I was able to use ##DIAG# (##3424#) and enable DIAGNOSTIC mode, yet this seemed to do nothing about ports.
I was able to enter ##DEBUG (##33284#) but there is no ability to ediit in here. Although at one point in time I was at a screen asking for an SVC code, no idea how to get back there though.
Tried to do a "fix" on Chimera, which is the same as refurbish on LG Up (I need the phone in factory condition), but apparently this device does not support refurbish mode. So flashing software is not wiping anything.
I cant seem to boot it into recovery, for god knows why.
QUESTIONS I HAVE
How do I completely wipe the phone of all user data?
How do I open these ports since the codes provided bring up no menu?
Since sprint is the only one recognizing the bad ESN, is this device able to even swap carriers?
What reason would APN not have an ability to edit or modify?
What additional tactics can I use to get my goal accomplished?
Hopefully we can brainstorm together
Please refer to this thread, it should work and do what you need to withthat apk. I belive its under IOT menu then under lte and put it in lab mode and turn on all the bands plus adding APN .. Im not to sure but ask the OP im sure he is way more helpful... asfar as adding the apn without this you need root to be able to do this and for nonroot i believe you must use ADb commands to tgecdevice and add them from there. there is threads oithere....

if the esn is now listed as unpaid, or lost /stolen cricket will not be able to add the esn to their system either. its a nation wide list that blacklist's the device.
Unfortunately changing the apns etc wont fix this.
ZV6 currently does not have a way to be rolled back, so there is 0 root/custom options.
APNS have been blocked by sprint for some time now and using some root methods they can be unlocked, in your case you wont be able to access them due to being unable to root.
Tools like CDMA WORKSHOP, QPST, QXDMA, etc may be able to write the apns and such you would need, if you could get the msl for the device, but if it is no longer active, and the device has a "bad esn" then you wont be getting that from the carrier. I dont believe youll be able to access the nv items etc without it and probably not going to be easy to locate the msl.
##diag# is how youll talk to the device on cdma workshop etc, youll need to go to your installed devices and change its com port to a port thats free and remember the port as the tools need you to select that port, but again they wont work for you without the msl anyways.
so in a nutshell, it looks like your best option is to sell the phone as parts only, or if recently purchased on swappa and it was listed good esn and its not then file a report at-least to make swappa aware.

3g/4g doesn't work on Samsung On5 SM-G550T1 MetroPCS

This device was bought outside India (I'll ask my friend which country if that's necessary). It was probably bought with MetroPCS sim. Now when I insert Indian sim I can only connect to 2g network, when I chose 3g I lose connection to the network.
So I figured this device is locked. There was this app provided by MetroPCS that provided a way to permanently unlock. I checked their site and it's stated that if your device meets all requirements (use their sim for 180 consecutive days etc) then your device will be unlocked for free. I tried unlocking through t that app and it was successful which means my device was eligible. It still didn't work.
So then I thought maybe changing ROM will solve this issue so installed TWRP and flashed custom ROM. Still nothing changed.
That made me think it's locked due to my imei. I was left with no option but to change my device's imei (I know it's illegal but I wasn't trying to change it to some random imei to hide identity or evading ban from MetroPCS) so I rooted it and tried Xposed framework. When I finally installed Xposed and got this module to work, i was still unable to access 3g/4g.
I've tried everything I could think of and still couldn't get it to work. Please please please help me, I am exhausted.

Your radio/modem probably needs to be changed from one for the US, if that's where your phone was bought, to the one for India so that you'll be using the correct baseband. Search for a flashable one from one of the threads for the Indian variant. That would be my next try anyway.
