Very easy,
You can use your Virtual Reality headset with Cardboard apps without launching the default Gear VR package by temporary disable "Samsung Gear VR services" and enable it when you want to use Gear VR
Try to use this app, it work WITHOUT ROOT

[Q] S Health

Does anyone know where I can get a S Health apk for my Galaxy Tab 4 8"?
I have a gear fit and want to monitor everything on my tablet but Samsung doesn't support the Tab 4 with this app for some stupid reason.
If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great.
I just made one that should install like a normal app try it and tell me if it works

Excellent man. Thanks so much. The app installs flawlessly.
Now I just have to figure out why S Health doesn't recognize the Gear Fit watch. They make a watch for fitness but don't make it compatible with their fitness software. I love Samsung hardware, but their software guys are absolute morons.

Have you had any luck getting the Gear Fit sync'ed with S Health on your Tab 4? I have a Tab 4.7.0 and a Gear Fit & I am desperately wanting to get the two working together. Does the Gear Fit Manager version matter at all?
I couldn't agree with you more about Samsung hardware and software. Sloppy software integration for their otherwise solid hardware.
I'll try the apk on my Tab 4.7.0 and reply with results later.
Thanks..

Following up on installing S Health on my Galaxy Tab 4..7.0
The apk installed without any issue, but could not detect the Gear Fit. This version of S Health was pre Gear Fit (2.5.4.046) so I'm not sure it would be compatible with the Gear Fit to begin with. I'll try others.
On a side note, I can verify that versions 1.70 and 1.98 of the Gear Fit Manager successfully worked with the Galaxy Tab 4.7.0
I also was able to successfully install the Fitness with Gear app, but the app would not sync with the Gear Fit.
I'll keep on this. If anyone has any updates, please post.
Thanks
Gear Fit Working with Galaxy Tab 4.7.0!
Wonderful News to report!
I have successfully installed S Health on my Galaxy Tab 4.7.0 (not rooted) and it has successfully sync'ed with my Gear Fit! I did encounter a couple of crashes with the app, but so far, all seems to be working.
I'm very excited to finally see the S Health app running on my Tab and working with the Gear Fit.
I have some notes on the process I followed and apk files I installed. I will share here after I get some sleep. I hope this gives some hope to others who are looking to connect their Gear Fit to a non smartphone device.
Cheers!

I can never get enough sleep!!!
I don't have my notes with me, but if my memory is correct, I believe I installed the Gear with Fitness app from Aptoide on my Galaxy Tab. The Gear with Fitness app will not sync with the Gear Fit. From within the Gear with Fitness app, I selected the 'Check for updates' option which then ran and updated Gear with Fitness to S Health (version 3.5.1.0696).
I restarted the tablet and the Gear Fit. The Gear Fit paired with the Tablet right away. I then opened the S Health app, and selected the Gear Fit from the Accessories list. It auto-sync'ed with no problem.
It's important to note that the S Health app crashed when I updated my personal profile with my height, weight and gender settings. But the changes did save when I re-opened the app. It continues to sync, automatically and manually with no crashes since.
Perhaps, if the update process does not work for you, can can run the S Health install directly instead of upgrade from Fitness with Gear:

Here's the Fitness with Gear download also:

Let me know if you have success with it.

[Q] Can I use oculus home with the google cardboard? (Galaxy S6)

I got a question, I got a google cardboard it works really well with the native apps that you can find in play store, but since the s6 edge have the gear vr with more cool stuff, Im wondering if theres any way to download the oculus app and use it in the google cardboard, i have a bluetooth controller so the navigation will be no problem, but downloading the oculus home and make it run without the gear vr is the challenge, did someone can solve this?
Unfortunately you have to have the gear vr to open all the cool oculus apps. There is a gear vr forum. No one is doing any custom development from what I've seen.

Cardboard requires a gyrometer. The Galaxy Prime has a different set of tools for tracking motion. As a result, Google Cardboard won't install and some apps won't work. However, a lot of apps do work as long as you are okay with the default settings. Just download and run them without installing Cardboard.
Also have a Galaxy Prime, so I'm looking for a solution too. But the lack of a gyrometer is the problem.
ADDED: If you visit the mirror site for Google Cardboard (Google it) you can download one of the earlier APKs and install it as a 3rd party app (you have to set your phone to allow unknown apps in the security settings). Install as a default device. This won't solve the gyrometer problem, but it will let you open apps that require you to have Cardboard to open them.

VR Sideload

Has anyone been able to sideload developer VR games? There is a sideloadvr app in playstore but not for Galaxy s7. Tried using it, was able to use signature function and download and install the apps. But when you put the phone in the VR it goes straight into oculus store and apps don't show up in oculus store. Anyone who has been able to use the sideload developer apps on VR, if you could please let me know how you did it.

sideload vr is working here. after you install a game launch the game and you will be prompted to attach the vr headset. i think your problem is that you are attaching the vr headset first before launching the game.

Try this app.
A friend shared it with me.
Works fine. No root.
Just tap on the cardboard when you dont want Oculus to load.
