Rebranded models - Onetouch Idol 3 General

Panasonic eliga switch 4G is the rebranded version of idol3 5.5. Can someone confirm? Can idol 3's Roms be used for eluga switch too?

Most likely they can. It is literally identical to the Idol 3 5.5(a dual sim variant).

I wonder if they have better/newer apps. Anyone found the location of their rom's?

just downloading the rom...will report

so here are some info:
it ocme sin a package of 1.3GB in form of exe file (Engineering Software Download Tool QCT_SP) . It unpacks to temp and contains another exe (among other files) which can be opened in 7zip and includes all partitions in form of .img files. But if i try to decompress it, it got some errors (unexpected end of file) in some img files (system, persist...).
And as I am flasher, I flash the firmware to my device right away.
It ended on 52% with error, so i unpluged my device, rebooted it and all works well so far.
I will make root and do TWRP bakcup.
panasonic name for firmware: EB-90S55EWLv1009
Android: 5.0.2
dialer: 5.1.3.3.0039.0
camera: 5.1.11.0152.0
-also includes alternative launcher (see screenshots).
-Its dual sim firmware.
-all other things look same as stock, havent seen any new settings entry so far.

All useful info. Thanks. You may wish to check the md5sum if you can find it as that's what usually causes me to get unexpected end of file errors. If your browser has the file cached then using a download manager or another browser will get around that. Where did you find the rom? I can check if it gives me the same errors on Linux. System and Boot would be the two most important but I wouldn't expect it to run when it error's at 52% on system.

I'm asking for the third time for you to please tell us where you found the rom. As an alternative an upload of the FULL original rom would also be fine. I would like to get full copies of system and boot that don't have errors even if it appears to be working for you.

Thank you. Requests for the rom were in posts 3, 6 and 8.
I did do a search however all I found were reviews on the device. I did have "4g" in my search string as well though.
I'll see how it extracts for me.

i downloaded it twice, extracted circa 10 times. All appear to be good ,but in the flash process it give error and also i cant extract the system.img file. But boot.img i extracted without problems. will post my md5sum in a while in this post.

"Engineering Software Download Tool QCT_SP.exe" MD5: 6553E63778BE4B8844DB7021C633F33E
this "Engineering Software Download Tool QCT_SP.exe" can be opened by 7zip and contains all partitions img files

By "stockish" do you mean it has the lag like ours did or it's fast like the i806 rom?
FYI the linux p7zip extractor can't undo the .exe file...I'll pull it up into 7zip on my windows machine.

Maybe the percentage fail within the upgrade app is just an bug, because all works so far well.. I made a build with arde OC kernel, just for testing purposes. I tried to flash it several time, login into google, tried googple play store, wifi, calling, sms..all seems to work.
i played with it for about 4 hours and it feels like sthe original stock rom(yes with the lags..i think. Its hard to compare for me becaus ei havent touched stock idol3 since 6 months )..i have found no extras in the firmware.
And i also uploaded the panasonic kernel to my google drive kernel folder.

Russian firmware?
Thanks, even though I have quite a number of firmwares already, it looks like the kernel from this firmware is the piece of the puzzle I was missing to make a proper kernel hack (like CF-Root). Let's hope I'm right!
Cheers!

Looks like it, and here's an interesting note from the changelog for the system/PDA image:
" Release for CIS. ( Base : XWKDD, same CL),
different : Remove Readers Hub, Music Hub, Social Hub (premium -> Basic)"
Coming from HTC phones, I don't understand why ODIN or KIES are still used. It really looks like something from the past... Can't we just flash update.zip files through recovery like normal android phones or in the worst case, flash .zip files through hboot?
I really hope that Paul or someone else will port CWR to this phone. *fingers crossed*
I personally really like Odin
Much prefer it to copying the zip file onto the phone, and then booting into recovery

The Galaxy series can also flash update.zip like any other Android device, but the zips require signing by Samsung to be flashable by default. So recovery has to modded first, and to do that you need to flash a custom kernel, and to do that, you need ODIN.
Besides, though I like update.zips for small patches, why people prefer them for full firmwares is still beyond me. ODIN is much faster method for flashing than first having to copy to SD card, then flash.
As for KIES, KIES automatically downloads and flashes the latest official firmware for you (using the same protocol that ODIN uses). I don't like KIES at all, but for the "normal" non-XDA-type-person-user it's great.
Also keep in mind that ODIN is an engineering tool... it was never meant to end up in consumer hands.

Probably *hubs are not completely release_soft that them to establish in all firmwares
so does this mean Russia is not getting Samsung Hubs?? Then how come Eldar's phone had them? just because it was a review phone?
Edit: I think i just answered my question!

On my Desire it's faster for me because I download ROMs direct to the SD card in my phone over WiFi. No copying, no PC, no messing about required. I just tell ROM Manager where the ROM is and job done.
sorry, deleted

Its really easy to put together CWM zip files when developing a ROM. You're most likely in adb pushing and pulling files anyway.. another zip (when developing) is nothing.
CWM also allows you the flexibility to flash without wiping specific partitions.
As stated earlier, you also need a PC to use Odin. A PC running Windows. Some people have Macs, and it is definitely useful when you don't have a PC in front of you, but you can still download a ROM, back up your current data, wipe your phone and flash a completely different ROM - and back - all without a PC, USB cable, Windows, drivers, and the phone button in Odin.

Is this the one I should be using for my 32Gb TPT?
It's labelled ventana32_recovery.img.
I don't know what happened but yesterday, I couldn't even browse the Files folder to view other files.
Thanks for reposting the Nandroid backups!
Yes, you've located the right one if you've got a US tablet.
The gps.conf is modified from the original file that shipped on tablet. This causes updates to fail.
CWM will cause OTA2 to fail during update. My apologies about GPS.conf, I missed that. It is a simple thing to fix.
Also, there are OTA builds that don't require the original files and recovery here in XDA.
I downloaded the 0075_US file. I am looking to replace a couple of system/app files (mainly PinyinIME.apk) as I deleted them before without a backup.
I want to take my TPT back to stock or run some sort of update without too much trouble as I plan on selling my TPT (need the money).
Is there a way that I can extract the files that I need from the 0075_US files that was posted here?

Download the archive and open it with winrar. You will find system.ext4.tar. Open it inside winrar and it will extract it. In the app directory you will find all system apps.
Copy PinyinIME.apk and the odex to your device /system/app and do :
chmod 644 /system/app/PinyinIME.*

Do I need to preserve the folder name 0089_US_no-bloat_rooted?

I'm using a US TPT.
Do you think the CWR versions we're using matters?
I've since upgraded the CWR to the version you recommended & so I'm wondering if this is a factor.
Konker
I don't know about the different CWM Recovery. I wish I did.
After you have extracted the zip, the folder can be renamed but it should be placed within the backup folder, like:
EXTERNAL SD-CARD ROOT/clockworkmod/backup/0089_US_no-bloat_rooted/**files**

Changing radio!

Ok.... I've seen a lot of users in many forums that want change the radio...
See HERE!!!! For european with Argentinian radio!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27649093&postcount=25
I've changed the radio on droid pro... (american)
But I didn't remember how!!
Edit...
Yes I know....! With rsdlite... Ok rsdlite can rewrite the radio. Sbf_flash no...
The American users know this thing, but for European it is a good news, because they can flash an american/argentinian sbf without changing radio.... Naturally with sbf_flash...
Flashing american on european with rsdlite will brick your phone, without changing the radio...
European on American with rsdlite will brick your phone, without changing your radio...
But if you'll use sbf flash, your phone will be glad!
You must see only if you have a locked kernel... (argentinian 2.3.6 I'm sure... for american 2.3.4, I don't know...)
Attention!!!
Argentinian gsm is 800/2100
European gsm is 900/1200
So we can understand the european's issues with argentinian rom....
I'm always sure that we must search the radio in the sbf! Not files...
I've done some steps here, only for trying...
1) Put your phone in bootloader mode
2) Start with Linux Knoppix live cd
3) Open terminal emulator from your folder where you have your sbf (i've used 2.26.20 verizon SBF..))
4) put also sbf_flash in the same folder ( you can find here:http://blog.opticaldelusion.org/search/label/sbf_flash )
chmod +x sbf_flash
then
sudo ./sbf_flash -r --bpsw 2260.sbf
Connect your phone...
Reboot and now you'll have a new radio!
See HERE!!!! For european with Argentinian radio!!!

Ok... Only for testing... I've saved on my dropbox folder a euril.zip, extract lib_moto.ril and replace with yours in system/lib (rename before yours)... Before set your pin sim card... with a new one!
Set permission to rw-r-r... Reboot...
Try...
If you have any issue set airplane mode on, reboot and replace it with yours renamed, reboot again...

Just tried the hack. Unfortunately I don't notice any progress.
In fact the extracted files are missing after reboot (no bp_nvm_default folder). I searched for them earlier in order to use basebandswitcher but never found them.
Maybe the whole telephony module really is emulated in java (see /system/etc/init.goldfish.sh)? But what would it mean for us?
I also tried 3 other ways yesterday without success:
- tried to flash bp.img from Blur_Version.4.7.3XT610.Verizon.en.US.zip --> status 7 error in CWM
- flash a zip containing radio.img of a european Pro+ update --> installs too fast without any noticable difference. Looks like he is ignoring the radio
- flashed JackpotCalvin's ICS rom which also includes bootmenu with a 2nd boot config only containing init.mapphone_umts.rc --> I may have done something wrong during the process but coulnd't see any difference
@any user of the US-verizon model: can you choose between more than "USA Band" when you do the following?
- dial *#*#4636#*#*
- go to "Phone Information"
- press menu softkey
- select radio band
@anyone with original european froyo: what choices do you have?
Ive seen different models (including Pro+) which always let me choose between 5-6 different basebands.

In all pro we can choose only usa band (also in european froyo...)
Try to move manually the folder bp_nvm
Or Try this...
Install a nandroid backup of original american 2.3.3 (very original!!)
then try to recive the update from verizon and install it
Will I need to pull battery for 3 hours if I do the verizon update?
Boh....!!!! But I've seen your pm! Did you phone restart?
In my experience my phone restart in about 3 ours... coming from froyo...
But coming from 2.3.6?

I don't know if this will help you or not, but I have the VZW 4.7.3 SBF file now. I just got it from a friend who pulled it from Motorola's server.
I have not tested it yet and have no need to as my Pro is already on 4.7.3 and rooted and is an engineering model anyway.
I will upload it somewhere to post publicly tonight or tomorrow when I get the chance.

I may have good news everyone!
After I have some issues with the 3g hack (files not showing up after reboot), I unzipped them manually. Then I changed permissions to rw-r--r-- and installed Defy+ baseband switcher to changed baseband to European (900/2100).
Since I've been mainly in areas with good signal quality the last week, I'm not a 100% sure if it really improved anything. But it feels like it!
Can someone please try this workaround for verification? The needed files are attached.
Thanks!
the right steps are?
1) Extract your I and II zips file in our pc
2) copy folder bp_nvm_default (II zip) from our pc to our phone under system/etc/motorola
3) set permissions
4) copy basebandswitcher (I Zip) from your II zip to /system/app, set permission to rw-r-r
5) Reboot
6) Open the new app
7) Or use my rom....! ;-)
it is right?
Thats right! Thank you for completing

Version YT2-1050F-USR_S000198_150422 to YT2-1050F-USR_S100031_150611
Download it, copy it to the tablet. Go to the system updates menu, select the button in the top right corner. Should see some options, choose the one to update from a file on SDCARD. Select the update.zip file.

Sorry, I'm just not used to having popups all over the place... And funny it says my Windows PC is infected click here to fix... hmmm.... Interesting...I run Linux....
Please try using a real/reputable site to host your files, like Android File Host. They are free and very professional.
Thank you.

Got it. Now to find out what can be done. Too bad my vacation is over today... Off to work in 2 hours.
Just downloaded the file and put on my tablet. No way to update via fastboot.
Tried to download original stock from and flash from fastphone. OK then put easyimage both on sd and internal memory as well. Changed int code to de. Tried to update again to lollipop but still install fail at first 98%.
Then tried to setup again stock fw, wipe cache/memory, set it code to de and flash again lollipop. Install fail again at 98%.
Really don't know what to do now. Could you help me?

Could be a corrupt zip. Bad thing is we don't have a checksum file for it, so no way to double check it. ?
And I still haven't had a chance to look it over yet...
From my LG-G3 running Jasmine7.0/SkyDragon kernel 4.1
I've updated twice through the update.zip, i've just checked the hashes and they should be
MD5: 7D8504AB9CB1A114BE8705CBADECC296
SHA-1: 0B843D584F39801AA4B7E18A4870A0EEC8E07BA7
If your hash is different try re-downloading, otherwise it's possible my upload was corrupt or the mediafire mirror someone created.

B32 SD Update Error: can't be copied because it is too large for the volume's format?

Hey everyone,
I'm trying to comply update to my device using the B32 firmware downloaded on ZTE USA Support site. The file is large, too large for FAT32, at 5.39GB.
I have tried copying it using android transfer on my mac, ejecting the microSD and using a regular SD adapter and copying it that way, and I have also tried just downloading right from the Software Update screen. The first two methods errored with (https://ibb.co/kjh4yG).
The software update fails with a message explaining that the firmware found and downloaded by the phone does not match the device...?
I have been on the old firmware for what feels like a year now. I'm hoping you all can shed some light on this.
Thanks

You have two ways to do this:
-If your internet is decent enough just forget about the SD card and download the update on your phone. Afterwards, download 'RAR' from the play store, find the downloaded file (in Downloads), and open the zip file. If you find a PDF and a file called 'update.zip' inside, simply select it and unzip it to the root of your sd card (put '/storage/emulated/0/ on the Destination path). So you will have an 'update.zip' file there. You don't need to unzip this one. Now go to Settings, Updates, then let it scan and it should find the file, update and voila
-Format your SD Card to exfat and pop the file right in
It's weird that the update file is that huge, since usually files for the A2017G are around 2.1 gigs
It worked my friend!!!
I installed RAR, then went inside the downloaded file, found update.zip and unzipped it to '/storage/emulated/0. Did not find any PDF file though, not sure what that would have been for..? Anyway, saw the MiFavor firmware update screen which meant we were on our way to finish line. After that it booted to a small tiny linux penguin symbol and black background. Tried rebooting by holding down the power button. Rebooted. Saw penguin again for like 5 seconds, then booted straight to the axon wavy weird startup sequence. I DID IT!! I really appreciate the help on this one. Great idea. And it worked flawlessly.

Lol. The signup dialog said 'Choose an username...', so i said, why not?
I think you downloaded directly the update.zip. Maybe the RAR part wasn't needed, I dunno. If there's a folder somewhere there called 'update' then just delete it, and the update.zip too
A larger than 5Gb update would have to be the file fully unzipped into a folder structure.
Update files are zipped and that's what the phone wants.

I downloaded one of the two raw zips from the ZTE USA site that had a very long name.zip with all numbers. The "update.zip" was nestled inside after unzipping the file on the phone. I just picked that file and moved it to ther root and applied the update. It went through successfully. Did i not apply it correctly? Should i have just renamed that whole file to "update.zip" and moved the entire folder? A little confused. But i imagine if the update took and i saw the 32 in the current build of the device it took. But im not sure.

Nah that's okay. I thought you downloaded the 'update.zip' directly. Happens sometimes
It’s weird the update was only about 2 GB. What do you think was the rest of the file?
Maybe in case it needed the full firmware. In this case it didn’t probably. Just a guess

No, that doesn't make sense. No idea really.
It couldn't have gone wrong so don't stress out. Your phone works. If it didn't work then yeah, something was wrong...
