No music player on notification bar pulldown and lock screen? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

As the title says, I'm having this issue where when I play music from an application, I expect the player to pop up both on the notification dropdown and lock screen, but they appear on neither. This happens on both Google Play and PowerAmp, so I can imagine that other apps would have this issue. I traded in my other S7 Edge, as it had another audio-related issue, and I know it had this feature, but this new one does not. Is there any way I can enable it? It's a pain having to go back into the app every time just to pause it, as I like to close my apps when I'm done with them. The music still persists even after I close the app itself. I've also tried restarting. Any ideas?
All feedback is highly appreciated. Thanks!

Mine shows up in both spots using the Samsung Music player. Confirmed working with Poweramp too on both notification tray and lock screen.

I would think that it works with nearly everyone else. I was asking why it wouldn't work for myself.

I had the same issue. Look at your notifications, when I turned it on for music player, it now shows up.

It only works with the Samsung music app. Other apps will play music but no pulldown. So u can play music but if you leave the app u will need to make a couple clicks to skip or pause a track. Sucks.
They're basically forcing their app on u. Luckily for them it's not half bad

One year later, when now I just saw this post,,,,,, The same thing may seem to appear in the new Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro, that the music player with music being played does not show up in the Notification Panel & Lock Screen. However, thanks for csjg3525 above whose post about S7 inspired me to look into something similar in Galaxy C7 Pro. It works not only for the Samsung music app! There's a trick:
Open "Settings" > Choose "Notifications" > Select "Google Play Music" AND then also go to the "Advanced" button at the top right hand corner on the same page > Click into "Google Play Music" > Click to "Allow notifications" and then two more options appear to let you choose - I selected "Set as priority" & "Previews in pop-ups", then all I wanted did show finally.
When you see only the name of the song being played on the lock screen, don't be disappointed. You just double-click the song name and then the 3 symbols of backward, pause & forward (next song) will appear for your control.
Hope the above helps for Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro users.

Turning off annoying Smart Remote notifications?

I have set up Smart Remote so I can control my TV, etc in my living room. Now that it's set up, the damn thing will not stop giving me "watch now" recommendations in my notification bar. Granted, it's only once a week, but the S5 seems to LOVE giving you annoyingly stupid notifications all the damn time. Does anyone know how to disable these intrusive (it's enormous, with a picture of the show it's recommending) notifications?

I'm in the same boat as the OP. There does not seem to be a disable notifications option.
+1 app manager, disable.

Oh right, I am so used to apps providing their own "turn off notifications" setting that I completely forgot about Application Manager also having that option. Thanks, I turned off notifications for Smart Remote. Now let's see if that works, or if Samsung's penchant for annoying me wins out in the end.
I had to freeze the security update notification in Titanium Backup to stop that thing from telling me to sign up for security updates every couple of days. I just wish there was a "Do Not Disturb" option where I could turn off all notifications except for the ones I want, rather than having to hunt down and disable every annoying pop up.

glad i helped bro
Well its been a while since this was discussed and since I've been on the forum - nice to be back actually.
I am also getting most annoying popups in my drop down bar for "remote control for TV app"
Because I don't have the app install I'm not sure how to disable this notification/popup.
Any other ideas?

Do you actually have an s5? If so, how do you not know that this app is standard and comes pre installed on your phone? It's right there in the app drawer. It's odd that you were able to find this old post, but can't find the app on your phone.

Of course you can turn off it's notifications. Do as the following steps:
Step 1. Enter "Settings" – "General" and then you will see "Application manager" listed under "Device manager".
Step 2. Now different lists are shown: "ALL", "TURNED OFF", "DOWNLOADED", "RUNNING" and "SD CARD". In the "ALL" list, preview all the apps on your Android phone and choose the apps which you don't want to get the notification. For instance, tap Smart Remote, uncheck "Show notifications" and you will get a prompt saying that you may miss important alerts and updates if you turn off. Click "OK" if you are sure you want to mute the notifications.
Now you can turn off annoying notifications successfully. I hope this will help you.
There is a notification off option in the app--but apparently it doesn't work...I still get them.
I have that prob too...gonna go to sprint store and ask tech

Recent Apps issue + Headphone Notification options question

Hi Guys,
Hope someone can advise me on the below
Problem 1
Got my Note 4 on the 17th, I’ve come from a Note 3, starting to get used to the using left button to bring up recent apps however a function that I used regularly is no longer there.
On my Note 3 I could hold down the home button to bring up my recent apps, and if you long press on any of the recent apps it would show the option “show app info” which would then take you to the menu to manage that application, (the screen where you can Force Stop the app, Disable it, Clear data and Clear Cache)
I can no longer do this on my note 4, when I open recent apps menu and long press the application it just put’s the app into a pop up window, no such option to directly manage that application.
Am I missing something here? Or is it a case of just having to live with it?
Problem 2
No big deal really but when I plug in my headphones a notification will pop up saying they are plugged in, on my note 3 it would also show recent apps used with headphones and I can quickly choose the app I’d like to use, my note 4 no longer does this, it will only show a notification that they are plugged in, no option to select app.
( I know a lot of people found this annoying but it didn’t really bother me)
Thanks in Advance

all the little things like the headphone bit are missing from note 4 compared to note 3 they have the features in the hidden settings but even if you turn them on they don't work very odd indeed....
Out of interest where can I find these hidden options?

you have to install nova launcher(you dont have to use it as main launcher you can still keep touchwiz as main launcher and just have nova in app draw)click on nova hold finger on screen and then chose short cuts, then click activities and scroll all the way to settings and in the settings scroll abit further and you will see air gestures, air view and keep scrolling and theres page buddy and other stuff,to activate them either just click and a gear like icon will go onto nova screen or keep your finger on the setting you want and that will bring the setting up of the option your looking at...hope it makes sense just dont expect much to work just yet as i say it all turns on but i cant get it to work...

Google Now cards too intrusive

I'm using the Airfighter watchface on my Asus Zenwatch and it permanently displays Google Now notifications at the bottom of the watchface (obscuring the step counter which is also displayed there). I can open each notification and swipe it away, but then it just gets replaced with the next Google Now card. How can I configure this so that Google Now cards are only displayed if I swipe down on the watchface?
If I'm not mistaken you can do this from the Android wear app. If you go into the device settings in app there should be an option for "card previews" on watch face. Deselect that and you should have stopped them from popping up like that.

Ah OK I see that option. Only problem is that it also stops the BeyondPod notification entry from showing, hence preventing me from quick access to the podcast player controls (instead, I would need to open the Beyondpod app, wait for the "Connecting..." to disappear (which it doesn't always), swipe to the controls, then tap play/pause etc. That's a shame, as I only want to suppress Google Now cards, not other apps which put things in the notification shade.
Google now is not supposed to be constantly on your watchface. There are some things you can do...
Limit the notifications by opening Google now on your phone and customizing your notifications.
When you get one (let's say, weather or time to work/home etc.), swipe up to read it, then right to close it.
Or, swipe down to hide it and it should go away.

There don't seem to be many customisation options. The only pertinent options seem to be "Show cards" and "Show Notifications for card updates".
I want to be able to differentiate between recurring cards which I don't want sitting on the watch face (e.g. weather, stock prices) and control widgets which sit in the notification shade (e.g. for BeyondPod and Play Music) - which I want to stay on the watchface (or at least be available with a single swipe). I guess there's no way to do this?
You can.
Open up the Google app on your phone (not the Wear app), Google now (which on my phone shows up as just Google).
Slide left or press on the three lines to show the menu.
Click customize
These are the things Google now wants to notify you about. You can turn each one off (e.x. stocks). Some, you can tailor the card.
If you want to use more of a sledgehammer approach, you can disable Google now all together by checking show cards or notifications for card updates in the general settings.
Either way, you should still get notifications for non Google now activities (timers, alarms, beyond pod, music, etc.).
It should be noted that if memory serves, this level of customization only happens after you open Google now on your phone and accept Google's terms. At that point, you can customize, and they will use their algorithm to customize for you even further (the terms tell them it is okay for them to try to read your mind).

This will allow me to customise which Google Now cards I see, and which I don't, but it doesn't let me control which ones get put onto the watchface on my smartwatch. I also found that disabling Google Now card previews in the Android Wear app stops the BeyondPod control panel notification tray entry from appearing. So between Google Now customisation and Android Wear customisation I can't seem to isolate and prioritise notification drawer entries which aren't Google Now cards (e.g. the BeyondPod notification widget)

Oh, now I see your dilemma. It is one in general with wear. Your watch mimics your phone. If you want more on your phone than the watch, you need to hack it. This is easy with apps using adb and pm uninstall. If you are adventurous, you could try finding all of the pieces of Google now and disabling them. I am making the code up, but something like...
Pm disable com.Google.now stocks (you do this to your watch through adb).
The way to find the intent to disable is by looking at the manifest of the app.
The difficulty is furtherincreased by the fact that you may need su privileges to run that command on Google now.
Sorry for the long and possibly confusing answer, but hopefully now you know where to begin looking.
Alternatively, you could try a watch face that uses the bottom real estate differently.
I suppose the main question for me is: is the BeyondPod player control "widget" that I see in my Notification shade on the phone actually a Google Now card, or simply an Android Notification? If it's the latter (which I had assumed), then I don't understand why disabling Google Now preview cards in Android Wear should stop the BeyondPod controls appearing. Any idea??
Yeah, that is an oddity. I was under the same assumption. Does it share this behavior with any media player? I will experiment and get back to you.
Hmmm....I just tried this again - disabling card previews in Android Wear...and this time I still managed to get the BeyondPod control panel on the watch. Either I was mistaken before or there was/is some kind of glitch. So at least I have the nuclear option of killing all Google Now cards and keeping my podcast player controls.
Maybe I'll look at some of the hacks that you have suggested to selectively filter out some stuff from the watch. Last time I tried ADB I couldn't get it to connect to the watch, but I didn't spend too long on it so maybe I should set aside a couple of hours and try again....
Yeah, I disabled all Google now card updates and ran audible, music (I have an htc one, but think it is Google music), and beyond pod, and my watch notified me of all the files playing as well as giving me full control.
I would not write off the bug idea. It strikes me as plausible. And since I own a Sony watch (one that seems to be effected by more of the bugs in the most recent wear update), I would say seems to be likely.

HTC U11 - Oreo 8.0 Buglist

I'm creating this thread to collect bugs found in the Oreo software that devs can take a look at for their ROMs, and possibly report to HTC depending on importance.
My first bug is cosmetic. The app icons are not consistent at all, and this goes further than the home screen launcher. If you hit the share button, the size of the icons vary, some big and some small.
My second bug is a little more annoying, and I'm not sure how to replicate. I was using Google Maps in and out of PiP mode (I drive Uber, so I come in and out of Maps constantly), and after some extensive switching, the PiP app wouldn't maximize, and my Recent Apps panel would not activate. The actual recents button could still activate multi-window, but it wouldn't cycle through the last two apps or activate the Recents carousel. The behavior returned to normal after a reboot. I am currently stock rooted, but I'm quite certain that has nothing to do with this issue. I will report if this happens again, and pay more attention to any possible causes. I might report this one to HTC.
My third bug is cosmetic, but a little on the annoying side. When switching Bluetooth audio profiles (found in dev options, for those who don't know), the codec that is displayed doesn't change, but you still hear the difference in audio. Also, aptx HD doesn't work for me. When selected, I hear no difference in the sound.
Ok....so my nav buttons are not working, but my home button is still working....am In the only one who is experiencing this? It is very sporadic, and fixes with a reboot.

PIP is not convenient to use now. For example, you can open youtube.com in chrome, request desktop site, play some video in fullscreen, press home button, then you get your PIP feature.
After update my battery reduction too much..
Maybe not exactly bugs, but a few things that bother me are how ugly the icons are and that it's using the default notification sound when I'm on low battery and it plays the notification sound coming in and out of night mode as well. I don't need to be notified with a sound about coming in and out of night mode and I'd prefer the regular buzz buzz sound of the low battery rather than thinking I got a message of something.
I hate the persistent notifications of things running in the background or drawing over... Not a bug, but a 'feature'.

Probably more a feature than a bug, but I miss being able to pull down the notification shade and toggling between Do Not Disturb, Priority Mode, and Normal. Now tapping the icon just turns on Priority Mode. I can't seem to find an easy way to turn on Do Not Disturb without long-pressing the icon. Does anyone else know a better way?

You can turn off the night mode notification. I set it to still show the icon in the top bar but not make a sound. It took a while to find, and I forget where it is. Maybe the notification settings for the system app.
When the screen is off and you double click the power button to access camera, it will not pop up with a preference choice (assuming you have more than one camera installed) unless you time it exactly with putting your fingerprint on the scanner
My shortcut options when you long press an icon are completely gone on every launcher.
Edit: Suddenly works. Odd.
My phone's bluetooth connects with my car's. Tried to play spotify But the audio plays on my phone still. My car sees th title of the song, just for display....Wasn't like this before the update... Must be the bluetooth 5.0 thing?

Most, task changer will be available at later date (I guess when they release the version for S10, right now it's not supported). The multiwindow extension (multistar) is bringing back:
1) swipe from corner to pop-out
2) the menu between two split screened apps
3) two apps running at the same time, that way your game won't be paused when you open browser/viber/something from the gametools menu
Hope they bring back easier way to fast split screen tho as right now if I wan't to split screen the current app (in my use case mostly youtube) it will pause the video + when you call recents it always auto move to the previous app, so I need to swipe, then press the icon, then split screen, then the other app I want, then resume video... too much time needed vs the previous "hold, select app - done, no video pausing, no waiting, no nothing". Maybe when recent task changes is released we will get something... we will see. For now we got atleast some of the functionality back.
Task Changer was available for me, but Routines gives me an error saying "Product is not available in this store." (I'm in Canada).
Neither Task changer nor Routine were available for me but installed, and are working fine, from apkmirror

Soliciting some help... I've installed all apk's I need, creating shortcuts w/ Activity Manager, except for Quickstar. Routines is not showing at all in Good Lock. I even side loaded it and it will not show up.
Task changer/routines is also available now. If side loaded, the "good lock" app will give network error and will not work. You should create a shortcut for every plugin via "activity manager, shortcut maker app of some kind". Then open them directly. For the task changer, if you change it to one of the alternatives - it will let you hold a card to split screen or pop-out + when you open recents it will NOT pause your activity like playing youtube or playing a game, that way you can pop-out something without pausing anything or split screen with youtube while it's playing - really a nice one.

Like what? Haven't noticed any so far.
For people with region not supported, the vpn trick still fully work. First, uninstall if you are sideloaded the app. Next, eject your sim n reboot. Connect to wifi and use vpn to US like tunnelbear. Go to app info of galaxy store and clear data. Open the galaxy store and update/install latest good lock. Open good lock and update all the apps. Then you can reinsert sim card and turn off vpn while setting up the apps
"App is no longer available" is all I get...
Does anyone else drop the colors in Quickstar? They seem to disappear randomly and I gave to reapply them. It's quite annoying.
