Is anyone else getting a popup for a system update? Anyone have any idea what is in it or how to stop and auto update?

I just got it, I tried to stop it but it still ran. Dunno what it does.

hoping it doesn't break tether

Just a security update.
All S7s are getting them.

Just security updates. Didn't break anything for me.

how can we dismiss this update notification? Historically I would freeze SDM.

You could get package disabler, then disable SDM, then restart the device. I did that and it worked. I've always done the debloated ROM tactic in the past, which always removed SDM.apk, but I can't make a ROM without root. Someone mentioned package disabler on here, so I bought it and gave it a shot. It works pretty well. It doesn't remove the apks from the system like a ROM based debloat, but it keeps them from running, which is an awesome feature to have without having root access.

Mine broke android pay. Did anyone else see this issue?

Did this exactly and worked perfectly.
Rebooted and Samsung Pay appears to still be working.

had sdm frozen with pdp. unless there's a detailed changelog of an update posted showing they fixed the horrible FFC or the slowmotion video jagginess, i'm not updating. phone seems fine as it is, and i don't trust them to make an OTA that's not crap (yeah, i had the note 4 and went from KK to lolipop and regretted it.)

where is this sdm?I'm not seeing it.
edit: nevermind searched disabler app. sorry I have never used it before, starting freaking.
as for tether been using foxfi

If you GF is setting on the 2.2.1 ROM this will be the Gingerbread ROM. It will not wipe the phone in the least. It will keep everything as is. It'll just update the ROM.

Thanks. Updated.
It's 2.3.4 but why is there no Google Talk Video Chat?
was there a link to follow or how did she get the OTA?
The update is for Android 2.3.3 not 2.3.4 so it will not include support for video chat in Gtalk http://androidandme.com/2011/07/car...ch-4g-gingerbread-ota-update-rolling-out-now/

It breaks the hotspot by greying out the APN settings even with the MSL
So we have a choice of forgoing all future enhancements, or losing hotspot. Great.
How is the update? Good/Bad feedback?
I'm downloading it now. I don't see this thing being rooted anytime soon anyway. I hardly ever use hot spot but it is nice to have if you need it. Any other solutions working without root?
Had to wipe both my wife and my s7e. They would stop sending and receiving texts and made some wierd screeching noise before rebooting.

I usually always hard reset anyway after an OTA. Have you had any issues with the update since hard resetting?
Also those that want to get rid of the update nag, use package disabler pro (it's $2, don't be cheap, it's well worth it) disable com.sec.android.soagent & com.wssyncmldm and the nag will go away. I did download the update but haven't applied it yet. Wanted to get some feedback first before applying. If you have not hard reset and have issues then I really wouldn't bother posting about it till you hard reset.
Ok, I updated and it seems like the dun setting is still there for hot spot mod but it is grayed out now. Will have to see if still works.
No problems after performing factory reset. Had to do it 3 times. First 2 times wiping data in recovery caused issues. Factory reset under settings/security menu worked great. Battery is better. No dun in son setting gs though I'll have to carry my Hotspot with me.

I didn't take the update just because I want to keep Hotspot, but if it does work it will probably go away with a data reset or prl update
My Hotspot still works after update. Have not updated profile or prl so not sure if gonna go away after doing so.
Otherwise update seems pretty good.
Took the update yesterday. Tried Hotspot today and it's working. Updated PRL and Profile just now and Hotspot is still working. I do have to turn off Adguard though.
Wonder why it's not working for some

5-12-2016 Software update?

Just got a notification for a software update, doesn't say what its for... Anybody know before I take the plunge???
You'll have to check with AT&T. I already updated, still 6.0.1. AT&T usually posts more specifics on their website. I'm trying to find it now, I'll post the link if I do.

Almost 2 weeks late, but super early for AT&T !

Not sure exactly what the update includes aside from security patches, but ever since I updated, my phone is rebooting every 5-10 minutes.
On another board, someone mentioned that it included activation of the FM radio, but I cannot confirm that.

Cool on the update, I figure unless there's some functionality broken out of the box, no need to take it until someone can tell us what it is.
I'm getting constant nag notifications for this. I turned off notifications for updates and it just sits in the notification drawer.
Anyone know how to permanently not take updates so I'm not bothered?

WELCOME TO VERIZON,talk about a double-edged sword:
Great coverage & network (YMMV of course),but, man the rest of their practices, not to mentionusing the bastard CDMA technology,is more than anyone should have to tolerate, especially when no real viable options are available.
Can you not disable VZW's bloatware (VZW apps)?
At minimum,I'd disable DT Ignite, not sure if that will help in the nagging, but,it's one less crapware app needlessly running on your phone..............

I came from a Note 4 and then S7E to the V20. AMOLED has such a tremendous saturation of colors that no LCD will ever be able to compete on that front. But, the brightness level and clarity is about the same. But it has taken me a few days to get back to accepting this as the new norm. Everytime I load CoC I think something is wrong until I remember I'm on a new device.
I took the update. I think it got rid of app pinning in recents.

If you're asking how to find your IMEI,look in SETTINGS > ABOUT PHONE > STATUS

I use Samsung's default messaging and you can tell the version by going to Settings -> Display and wallpaper -> Always on display -> About always on display
It should be 1.4.02, yours looks like it's not up to date.
From the About always on display menu there should be an option to update if it's not up to date
