S Pen menu hidden in S6 edge+ settings - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I came across this article talking about how to activate "condensed" display mode on Galaxy S7/ S7 edge. I thought I'll try it myself, I went into Nova Launcher widgets. Clicked on "activities" and enabled condensed mode, I then went searching to see if there is anything else cool looking for. I found in "Settings" after clicked, an activity called "S Pen". When it's clicked, it opens a new menu in Samsung Settings that has all the same options as you would find in Note 5.
Is there a way to use Air Command and other Note 5 S Pen features without actually needing an S Pen or using a custom ROM (which I know can let us use our fingers instead of an S Pen).
It's built into Settings, why would Samsung add it then not let us use it?
If you need help finding the S Pen activity, follow this guide:
http://www.phonearena.com/news/The-Samsung-Galaxy-S7-comes-with-a-hidden-Condensed-display-mode-heres-how-to-activate-it_id79385
Instead of clicking on ".DisplayScalingActivity", scroll down until you see S Pen then click.

[TUTORIAL] Enable hover icon in Jelly Beans update

Hey guys,
I did a quick search on the forum and no one had put this up and since many wanted to know where did the tiny s-pen hover icon go once they updated their Note 10.1 to jellybean, I decided to put this up.
To enable the hover icon,
1) Open Settings
2) Go to S-Pen
3) Enable Air-View and select the text to edit options
4) Enable the check-box for "Pointer"
Now you have to pointer visible whenever you bring the s-pen close to the screen, just like in ICS.
PS. the pointer icon is not as nice as the ICS one but I think i came across a thread to help you change it but you need to be ROOT for it.
PPS. I am running 4.1.1 for those who want to know.
Thanks buddy was driving me crazy lol
Sent from my GT-N8010 using xda premium

Does it work while drawing in S note as well?

It works with all the applications. It just creates an icon whenever you bring the s-pen close to the screen. But once you press it on the screen, it will go away. They just made it as an "HOVER" icon
So yeah it will show the pointer until you press it on the screen. Miss the old hover one on ICS where it stays even after you press it on the screen

[Q] AirView Pointer - still available ?

(This is a question for owners or people with access to a physical device)
Note 2 and also Note 1 had a SPen Pointer Option available in settings, a little dot dot appeared on the screen when you hovered your SPen, like a mouse cursor. It was a very nice feature for me.
Is it still available? I really hope that they did not take it out. I have looked ad gsmareana previw and the option was missing in ther screenshots.
Thank you very much for investigating this.
Yes it does, from the manual (page 161) under S Pen settings:
"Pointer: Set the device to display the S Pen pointer when hovering the S Pen over the screen."

[Q] 2 quick pre-purchase questions?

I have two quick questions on the note 3 before I pick one up.
1. Is there anyway to open a small app without using the pen, drawing the little box and selecting the app. Looking for a way to easily open a small window app.
2. Photo+ includes awesome movies, the device I tested let you create it, but would crash when you save it. Anyone have it working?
thanks
yes, you can open app in a mini window withot the s pen, look for these apps, pen window laucher and pen window manager

Finger support for air view

I know it has been talked about before but I can't find the topic
Does anyone know if this feature is going to be usible on the phone? There are settings for it. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/02/04/b61ecefd2919e7ca960d97296164cb47.jpg[/IMG
is it a software thing or is just not compatible with the hardware?
I talk with Samsung tech support but trying to get help from them is worse then try to get help from a 5 year old using google]

If you are talking about air view with finger and air gestures there is a way to activate them but air gesture with the music app or at the lockscreen won't work you can either try xnote rom it has it built in or an app called note 4 hidden settings on Google play also you can try quick shortcut maker app scroll down until you find the settings app and there you can find air view or air gestures hidden settings and many many more

Not all settings work which ones do you want? Air view with finger works for me but I get touching problems it's like I have to be slower with my finger when touching or dragging my finger the pen works fine it is only when I touch with my finger....quick glance also works but you will have to install the app from a note 3 rom what I can't get to work is music air gestures and lockscreen....
Just want the air view with finger

hi,
i have Note 4 N910F Snapdragon,
rooted. Airview with finger works sometimes (if you have enabled all correct settings) but just later, fail to work again. i also miss this feature
and have tried most of advice in different threads here at XDA.
No luck. Root is not required.
From what i can understand
Samsung conveniently left out some
"parts/scripts /? "required for Airview with finger to work. 100%
Yes the setting is there to enable etc.
But other" parts" . is missing.
Bad luck, i used to use Airview with
finger a lot on Note 3.
Good luck
Ya out of all of the gimmicky features the put on the devices that was one of the great one but in the name of innovation the a**hats at Samsung don't put it on the new device I swear they have no idea what their customers want or like. And like I said before their customers service and tech support is horrible I think you could get more help from a 5 year old using google then them.
I'm thinking this is the last Samsung device I'm gonna buy unfortunately unless they get their act together because I have been disappointed in the last 2 phones I owned by them and it sucks cuz the note 2 and s3 were awesome.

OK so install quickshortcutmaker from Google play search in activities for the app "settings" click it then a whole bunch of options will appear go down and search for activities related to air view there are more than one you will eventually find them some of them are for the pen some for the finger some for both anyhow click them and there press "try" to open the activity enable the options you want and press back once click on the star shaped button to save it to favorites so you won't have to search for it again but like I said before the options that enable air view with finger make your touch screen respond slower with your finger I don't know if it's just my rom but just a heads up also keep in mind that if you reboot you will have to enable the settings again just go to the activity again and click them off and on I will post some screen shots for you. And I think you are all right this was a cool feature to have on the note both air view with finger and air gesture it's a shame Samsung had to cut it off maybe they are starting to loose their edge after all and yeah maybe I should consider my next phone not being a Samsung one....

Disable S-Pen "Screenshot tool"

Hi everyone. I have 4.4.4 (kitkat) on my old Note 3. I like using the application "Squid" to take notes and sign PDF forms. Since downgrading to kitkat, (I call it an upgrade) I can no longer use the side button of the S-Pen as an eraser tool, like I did in marshmallow.
Instead, I get this screenshot type thing that comes up, after a crop type swipe thing, I really don't even know what it's called, I can't seem to find it on the list in Titanium Backup either. I really would like to totally uninstall this feature. It interferes with use of my S-Pen.
I tried all the settings in the world and, yes, looked it up on Google with no glimpse of hope. I think it may be called Smart Select, or Image Clip? I'm really not even sure.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

I imagine the ROM you had previously (marshmallow) was not Touchwiz based, correct? (Resurrection Remix, Lineage, etc...)
To disable the pop up you get upon pushing the button, I'd search in the options menu and look for "Air Command" in Advanced Features somewhere, may be even listed under "S Pen"

That's not it. I don't mind Air Command, as it does not interfere with any other app. This selection screenshot tool, the one you get when you hold the side button and move it around, is the one I want to get rid of. I never had it on MM, so it must only be a KK thing.
