Problem with accelerometer in e5 - Galaxy E5, E7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there anyone experiencing problem with their Samsung Galaxy E5 accelerometer.,?
My E5 is not accurate when using Accelerometer.
I can't use it normally for VR apps.
Thank you.

I think our device doesn't have accelerometer.

It has, example is our screen orientation that uses accelerometer.

Oh yes, I'm sorry, I wanted to mean gyroscope.

you are right, gyroscope is the one who is responsible for that.
By the way thanks.
All in all our device can't use in a VR Application, unless we only use it on a VR Video only.

Yep. It is unsuitable for VR.

Anyone tried this on the S3? Any impressions? Impact on battery life?
Really curios about this.

Do not use this.
It's just a circumvention of the issue at hand, ignoring the source of the problem. It will also drain your battery.

It's not placebo, it's just unrelated to Dalvik or OS space (That Google guy is wrong), it's a kernel internal issue, and devices without a hardware dedicated RNG will see higher impact of the issue. Qualcomm devices for example seem to be completely exempt from the symptoms of this problem.
There are some more appropriate workarounds out there like just doing a sysctl -w kernel.random.read_wakeup_threshold=1024 for example.
My next kernel will have a proper fix at the core of the problem, I'm sitting at > 3400 entropy most of the time without any of the other aforementioned "fixes".
I heard about this and heard all the opinions about it too, both placebo and that it worked wonders.
Nothing as concise as this answer though. Thank you Andreilux.

Any app to give better fitness info like fitbit?

So google fit just gives you steps taken. Was looking for something to give distance, calories, etc. Similar to fitbit. Any app to give that info for my wear watch?

Sign me up. I was a little surprised it doesn't do more.
I think RunKeeper can provide you this information.

Doesn't display it on my watch? And runkeeper is just for specific exercise activities, not everyday daily walking and monitoring that info. To my knowledge at least.

Yes, it has to be running and always taking your GPS location. That would be a battery killer.
What I think we are looking for is something more like Samsung S Health that just uses pedometer data and converts it to calories based on your weight.
I use UP by Jawbone in conjunction with MapMyFitness. UP steps are sent to the MapMyFitness app and is converted to calories for calorie-tracking

Does it display calories burned based on activity right from the watch?

The fit steps seem to be retardedly high. I cant seem to get past this. It would be great otherwise I think.
My google fit updated. Does anyone notice lower step counts? it seems pretty close to jawbone now.
I don't know about you guys but I have no faith in fit at all cause when I wake up, go to the kitchen and after that go to take shower, my lg g watch register more than 500 paces and I did max of 20!!!

After the last update or 2 FIT was right on par with the normal pedometer and Jawbone up. I dont know what happened but my steps were fixed.
And yeah... Fit used to be like 2x higher than the other 2 pedometers.
Fit and Jawbone can coexist?
I mean can I use both in the smartwatch? I prefer Jawbone but it was nice to have Fit too. I use also Map my fitness and Record... Still testing...

No Compass on G4 (Plus)???

Yes true that there is no compass but really you can't expect all the sensors and high end configs for a mid-ranger. It is a mid-ranger and it will have some cons. As far as I see it, maybe the NFC would be a drawback. I wouldn't really worry about the compass sensor. I don't think it would be useful very much. But its just my opinion, you may need it.
But compass is a fairly basic sensor......
Does it mean there will be no navigation support on G4 (Plus)?
Will the gyroscope help?
Yes, I am also just worried about navigation. Is it possible for Maps to direction based on Mobile Data/Wifi in the absence of magnetometer?

I do believe the Gyro would be suffice. Even the G3 didn't have one and I think not many people complained of it. They were able to navigate without a Gyro too. I am not sure how the compass sensors work or how useful they would be but I don't care anyway lol

The gyro won't help. However, the compass isn't necessary for navigation. The GPS is what you need, which can locate you wherever you are, so it can tell what way you're going. If you really need to know what way is north, South... and it's nighttime do you can't figure out from the sun, you'll need to open up maps, and start walking, and you'll see in what direction you're moving.

I wasn't aware G3 had a compass. I know its a basic sensor but maybe Motorola thought it wasn't useful so ditched it.

According to gsmarena, yes. The g2 also had, but it was a horrible gyro that was clearly not tested. I couldn't find any info on the play and regular edition
I asked the compass question in motorola's Forum and this was Matt's answer:
No, it does not have a compass/magnetometer. It does have GPS but won't support a compass app.
That make's it a NONO for hiking because a low speed or standing stil at crossroads you definitely need this to show "the way" aka rotate the map or the guiding arrow (like in Locus Pro). GPS does this at speeds above maybe 6 km/h.
as far as i know G3 does not have compass. i owned it ,
it also doesnt have NFC

There you go. Confirmed that it doesn't have the magnetic compass. Strange.. Why would Motorola do such a thing. Someone also replied on the other thread this could be the reason the phone doesn't support driving mode which was supported on g3!!!

Why would they do such a thing? Because most people won't realise and won't care. That's why. I personally do care, but I'm the minority.
Yeah pretty sucks. Hope they release G4 Turbo like G3 and include a proper compass. but don't hold your heads up the chance is slim.

Of course. The only issue would be with the cardboard v1, where the button, which was two magnets that didn't even touch the screen, wouldn't work as the phone doesn't contain a magnetometer (aka digital compass). Though even many phones which do don't work because of the placement.

help : VR for grand 2?

Game Tuner 3.3.11 Can we make it work?

https://www.xda-developers.com/samsung-game-tuner-update-removes-a-ton-of-useful-features/
https://www.sammobile.com/apk/samsung-game-tuner/samsung-game-tuner-3-3-11/
Is there a way to make it work on the Note 9?
Setting app specific resolutions was so great!
Putting 90% of apps in 1080p except mostly YouTube and video apps to 1440p, was just fantastic...
Now am stuck at 1080p everything, because it really saves some battery.
And no... manually changing resolution all the time is not an option for me.
Rooting isn't an option for me either
Do you really see a difference in battery life? I can't figure out if it makes such a difference, and other threads I read didn't see much... So I'm always maxed out because why not

yeah dont know the how to work the old version, it is trying to get me to update and wont let me open the app without updating! would like to know a work around as well
Would need to revert to GAMEOPTIMIZINGSERVICE Version: 1.3.01.4
But My Note 9 came already with 1.4.02.2 - can't overwrite with old one or uninstall without root...
...at least I don't know how
They removed game tuner from pie. Did anyone find a solution? Is it possible to roll back game optimizing service with adb?
You don't need game tuner, since those options are now integrated in Game Launcher...View attachment 4708130

install gos 1.2.12.4 and game tuner 3.3.03 work for me
