It's March

I think he read the Android security patch level, which is February, hence the title "February security update."

In case you're wondering if this update contains a new bootloader that is unlockable, no dice.

I know I'm stating the current month this saying they are behind

I wouldn't update yet.

Yup, looks like APB6 was updated to APB8

We already had the February security patch level and no this did not update us to March. So the thread title is misleading. Yes we got an update but no it was not a patch level update; however, the baseband version did change from APB6 to APB8

So... Note 3 will get 6.0.1?

??? This is the T-Mobile Galaxy S7 forum. You need to ask that in the Help/Q&A section of the Note 3 forum.

I like how I started a thread about this update, hours before this one and mine got closed...with the typical "there's already a thread about this...." post. Lol cool bro way to tell time.

I'm guessing it's because this one was posted in the T-Mobile section. You posted yours in the S7 international section.

Will this effect the bootloader? Or any chance of root in the future? I also read this will help with the front camera and better battery life.

I would believe so. I know it changes the bootloader on the S7Edge. I WOULD DEFINITELY STAY AWAY FROM ANY UPDATES IF YOU WANT ROOT IN THE FUTURE. You could miss a potential vulnerability and not be able to revert back down.

there's also a thread in there that says update...with lots of att and tmo people chiming in... but i guess that's OK

any way to disable the tmo update service in the notification? cant disable service update app either.

T-Mobile has pushed out a new security update to both the Samsung Galaxy S7. with Android’s March security patches. the Android version remains 6.0.1 Marshmallow, but the Baseband version changes from G930TUVU1APB6 to G930TUVU1APB8.
Verizon is ready to roll out a similar security update for the S7.

This update from this thread shows Baseband APB8, but only February security update. This has already been mentioned, and it appears your article is incorrect.

Ok, you're right of course, but I though since it's *.10, it's rootable. Sorry for the confusion. However, obviously the kernel got updated without a system update. It's now the very same kernel as in the *.15 firmware. How is that possible?

motorola can push/install updates without users consent/action, just pushing the kernel uses very little bandwith, and user may not even notice.

What if you RSD back the original firmware?
This always worked on locked devices too, as long as it's not a downgrade...

There was a bug-fix release for .10, before .15 came out. It was discussed a little bit and IIRC, it was a soak, not a full OTA.

I don't care about the Stagefright fix since the SMS app I use has had it for some time. I would like to get the night mode for my camera though. Hopefully, it will roll out here eventually.

Stagefright affects more than just SMS. That is just to most well known way to exploit it. And many third party apps that fixed stagefright on their end do not include the second fix that Google recently pushed.
Build no? I'm on XT 1550 with LP123.72-47, and don't see any updates.(purchased last week from flipkart, factory installed build)

Yes it's necessary to be on stock recovery.
Also few users have reported bootloop after ota update on unlocked rooted Moto G3. So before uodating go through Q & A threads to avoid any such issue.

My Moto G3 is in this state. The bootloader is unlocked, I have updated via OTA and now it turns black after 2~3 seconds of the start of boot animation. Now I'm trying to download and install a stock ROM. Thanks, Motorola.

You can't blame Motorola for that, it is your fault for unlocking the bootloader. That is why they warn against it and you should always have a backup to flash before doing so.
Yes, I can't. But it doesn't hurt to explain better the reasons for their advise against the mods. As I understood, the problem was with TWRP recovery. If I knew about this before, I would simply had flashed the original recovery before allowing the OTA update.
Now I'm finally with my phone back to business

When we get Marshmallow

Just for fun, flame on/off, you decide it
-edit-
I posted this thread on reddit/idol3 and guess what, it's not there
the end of may is most likely to happen , but the beginning of june can be a valide option , either way its close to happen soon XXD
keep hopping !
I hope soon
I think this will heavily depend on the carrier.
For me and Bell Mobility in Canada.. They haven't released a single update since they launched the phone (not even a stagefright update) so I have ZERO confidence that I'll be seeing Marshmallow through any OTA's.

so a carrier locked phone according to this screenshot will get the update on May 31... well, they say the update will come for unbranded devices first and then later to carrier locked phones, so the unbranded idols should get the update days or weeks before this date
or alcatel follows its way and at first releases updates on carrier locked devices and months later for unbranded ones
i have a bad feeling about this.

I just got my 6045I global unlocked from Amazon to replace my stolen 60450(Cricket) a week ago, and it came with pre-marshmallow firmware and latest security update already installed.... I know this because the first one was old stock and arrived with the seal broken,so I asked for replacement and was told I could use old one until new arrived. The first downloaded the updates(came from Amazon fulfillment Kentucky), and the second came from Los Angeles (fresh from port,I assume), and had those 2 updates already installed, and judging from IMEI's, the 2nd was NEW, so make of that what you will. Everything I've heard points to end of May/early June. I am hoping for sooner, as the lack of ad blocking, and hopefully much improved memory management is killing me! We shall see.

I would search the forum under the root and recoveries. This has been discussed before, and there are ways to do it.
This has nothing to do with custom firmwares, I'm asking how to find stock nougat or how to update the phone, not how to root or flash twrp. At least how to find OTA files. As i see the latest RUU is from October.

I better sell this phone or exchange it to an international or other carrier variant than pay 25$ for a software that does almost nothing. I guess RUU is the only way to update it.

Not from a website, he must be a samsung ses or employee.
Any word on a potential release date for nougat? Extremely dissatisfied with Samsungs lack of support with the U variants. Makes me want to avoid Samsung products here on out.
It makes me think that they're waiting to synchronize the S8 and S7u software releases... So perhaps the S7u will get all the S8 features before the carrier versions?
I know the SM-G930VL got Nougat today. No Wi-Fi calling or video call but it did finally get it. It's the Straight Talk unlocked version.
That's pretty pitiful when prepaid carriers get it before unlocked owners...
It's pretty stupid that an UNLOCKED version doesn't have the latest software, so dumb of Samsung to do that.
Also None of the Verizon versions of S7 has the updated firmware too, so far only T-Mobile in the US has 7.0
May be AT&T does too

All the major carriers have it. Verizon just got it about a week ago.
I bought this thinking 7.0 was on it, and quite disappointed that it's not, and it's not even available.
You can Odin another carriers nougat on the U. I'm using Verizon's until it does cone out.
Do I need to root my phone to do that? or I can just ODIN it?
Any instructions or videos on it, really don't want to root the phone as it decrease the value

No you don't have to root. It's just a simple Odin procedure.
Great
Where do I get the Verizon Rom? And how is your experience so far?
Is it pretty smooth? Any lag and what about the battery life?

someone wrote a guide for root/unroot/returning to stock rom
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...-to-notes-root-install-xposed-unroot-t3411039
Hmm, this is going to root the phone, I don't want to root it, as it will decrease it's value. I will wait for another week or two if there is no update to 7.0 I will sell it

what? no, just scroll down (bottom of first post) to where it says "return to stock" and follow the instructions there. you don't have to be rooted to install another official samsung rom. and also fwiw even if you do end up rooting you can always reinstall stock rom without tripping knox (as implied in the tutorial).

Just like he said but when you download the Verizon firmware, make sure you use CSC and not the HOME CSC when you flash. Home will keep your data but I'm not sure how it'll react coming from a different carrier.
