How do i change 12MP picture taking rom 4:3 to 16:9? I would like full screen camera - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answer

Ok taking pictures the s7 edge is in 4:3 mode which I absolutely hate! I have no ideal why samsung done this
Is there any way to make it in top MP 16:9?

I think the sensor is 4:3 so to get 16:9 it's cropped from that, thus lowering the resolution.

Man o man was this excluded from leaks and reports , my only regret is cam

go to settings on camera and change it from 4:3 to 16.9 but if you change to 16:9 it will lower resoulution to like 9.1 mp

Aware of that but that is what I want to avoid.

You're cropping the sensor size is why. Sensors are 4:3 and to create a 16:9 image you aren't using part of the sensor.

Very few cameras have a 16:9 sensor, not just phones.

So my questions is, how did the Note5 manage to take them 16:9 and keep the full resolution.
Where all of those pictures cropped?

Custom sensor, just like the Sony phone that takes 16:9.

All 12 mp phones I've seen take 4:3. All 16 mp cameras I see take 16:9.

[Q] Android Gingerbread: best 16:9 camera app

Well, I need a good advice. Sorry for my poor English
I have tried 3 or 4 different cameras from Market, but all of them has no 16:9 image aspect ratio or not works under Android 2.3.x. When the Android 2.2 version (stock ROM by DFT) was installed on my HD2, stock camera worked perfectly, including fullscreen 16:9 mode. Is there any good camera for Gingerbread?
Requirements:
- 5Mpx photos
- 100% JPEG quality
- fullscreen 16:9 mode
- possible free
Thanks a lot!

If you are looking for full HD2 screen camera on gingerbread, you can try Vignette and set the aspect ration as 16:9.
But this will not use the full screen while taking pictures. But once the picture is taken it will be a 16:9 ratio.
But this aspect ratio might not use the full capability of the camera. The image quality might not be full 5 MP
Even WM6.5 takes photos of 4 MP
Wide screen
1552 X 2592 = 4 MP
The nexus one or gingerbread camera doesnt have 16:9 ration but the picture is full 5MP
2592 x 1994 = 5MP
So if you want full 16:9 photo you have to compromize on 5MP
Thank you for the explanation, I'll try to use Vignette. And what about free software? Is there any alternatives? I don't need a lot of features and effects (zoom, sepia etc). The simpler the better Just autofocus and changing image resolution.
Thnx.
Yeah, Vignette is a greatest tool for HD2+Android 2.3.x camera! A truth is out there... This link hasn't been seen, isn't it?

camera image quality very low !!!!

i had the device for 2 weeks and i noticed that the images quality are not good and when zooming it becomes so blured and not acceptable ...... any options or solution to this problem ??
One back up data and factory reset .
No cure = return to seller .
jje
well, how far are you zooming in? It's a "digital zoom" which is a phrase I hate. It doesn't really zoom in, it just crops the picture then enlarges it.

digital zoom is probably the most useless thing ever on cameras
here's just an example of what it's like

let's say we zoom in on his face using digital zoom
it will take just this little portion
and blow it up
great answer viper98
Unfortunatelly most people don't know the diference between optical and digital zooms...
xdafun4all, if you really want to use zoom without sacrificing quality, the best bet, is aproaching the subject you want on the picture, Using the zoom from the Galaxy S2, Iphone, Pixon, N8, or from any other phone (you name it, i doubt there hare phones out there that have optical zoom built in) will not make miracles...

+ Infinite to this.
Digital Zoom = BOGUS.
Yeah even most "high end" point and shoot cameras have **** zooms, even on my 7d I gotta watch for camera shake whilst zooming lol... Tho that's a different story.
Sent from my Samsung Seine
Touch the part of the image you need focus once for better focus and then take the picture without altering the position or the zoom.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Also just in case, check cameras settings, make sure you don't have focus set to macro.
This will most diffidently give you blurry pictures unless they are extreme close ups...
Hope this helps.

As said many times in this thread's 9 posts, digital zoom is pure bull****.Take the photo unzoomed and crop the part you want zoomed on your PC.It's the exact same thing.
The only camera that never gave me problems with digital zooming is my Nikon D7000.It was for testing purposes, there is no point in digital zooming with a DSLR but anyway. That thing costs about 1250 euros and takes photos at 16.6mpx,but that's another story.

[YES] Camera can be better

After the update we get a real improvement over the stock FW from camera but... is this enough?
Well, regarding HW, the camera is great. Lets compare with some flaghships...
Moto X
The Moto X anyhow includes a CMOS sensor topped by a color filter array with a single clear pixel in the place of what would otherwise be a green pixel in Bayer land, and claims a 75 percent gain in sensitivity as a result. Motorola has long been an OmniVision customer, for about as long as I’ve tracked them. The Moto X continues that trend with a 10 MP OV10820 rear facing CMOS sensor, which is a variant of OV10810 that includes a clear pixel. That rear facing sensor includes 1.4µm pixels and thus ends up notably bigger than the 13 MP sensors with 1.1µm pixels with a format of 1/2.6". The sensor array is 16:9 aspect ratio, with an image size of 4320x2432, which sort of gives away its real design intention – a 4K (UHD) image sensor, though obviously the Moto X can’t shoot 4K video.
Atop the Moto X sensor is a relatively fast F/2.4 system with 4.5 mm focal length, which gives it around a 30mm (35mm effective equivalent) focal length. I still would love to see more phones come in around 35, but 30 is still a bit longer than the 28 and below I see starting to become more common to get the stack thinner.

So... what is happening? Yes... it is FW related.
What can we do?
Am I the only one who thinks a lot of the problem could be terrible jpg compression? I'd love to see what they look like before compression.
My main issue still (which I've reported to Motorola) is that the camera will get washed out (hazy white look) in bright daylight. I think it is notably less than before the update, but it still needs improvement. I am hoping Motorola continues to look into camera improves and doesn't just scoff it off as complete because they "fixed" the obvious issues.

S5 6mp vs 16mp camera!

Hi guys, just wanted to say that besides from picture size difference.
The 6mp and 16mp are no different. zooming capabilities and clarity etc are the same.
the only different is that one weights more than the other in size...
anyone?

Okay, well the size of it matters. The lense may be the same, but the sensor (actual camera) is completely different.

oh, i meant sensor xD not lense, sorry. So.. here is a pic, left is 16mp and right is 6mp, both were shot from the S5.

So, As we can see. There is little to no diffence when the image is far to mid zoom. but when closed zoom, almost zooming to the limits xD, the 16mp wins..
So I can say that, both are the same sht, 16mp wins when you tend to zoom to the limits.
This proves that the sensor in this thing does all the job but MP does help (do not know how) when zooming the image.
Sent from my SM-G900H using Tapatalk
Actually the Megapixels are used only to capture more details when zoomed however as you probably know the size of the Image file in 6 MegaPixels (16:9) is 3264x1836 currently most of the monitors are 1920x1080 so even with 6 Megapixels you will have twice the number of pixels then the once on your Phone or Monitor so when not zoomed any picture bigger then 2 megapixels will looks exactly the same on your monitor or phone. However when you zoom you will see that the bigger picture hase more details and it`s much crisp in lines.
So it really depends on what kind of photos you want but there is no need to always shoot with 16 megapixels.
I also think that this is the reason why iPhone always put 8 megapixels on there cameras you actually don`t need more then that as 8 megapixels are enough to shoot 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios photos with enough details to see on your screen.
The quality of the pictures including traits such as color reproduction and sharpness shouldn't be affected by the megapixel change. Only pixel count changes.

wao, very informative, thanks guys

Pixel count is more about marketing then quality. Less but larger pixels would help low light performance but too many people believe pixels = quality.

Galaxy S6 Edge 4k Video

So in this video I used a tripod which took some amazing video. But I also took 4k video while driving (I was not driving) and the camera did a good job at keeping a still video. There was still a lot of movement but it shows less in the video then there actually was. I captured mainly movement to see how the camera could keep up with it.

I thought that the OIS actually takes over solo. The software optimization for it does not work but the actual hardware OIS works in that modeZ? maybe im wrong

I took about 10 minutes in total of video. Had battery saver off and used the phone to the max that whole day. Came out with about 4 hours of on screen time. Brightness at about 40%.

Correct, OIS is always on regardless, but EIS disables with 4K and 60fps modes.
Ois is always on guys it's a hardware not a software only the software stabilization doesn't work.... ois always on and u can see the lens move as soon as u begin recording
