LOL just look at the past bro and i can tell you can if samsung releases a mini then it will have midrage specs at best so it doesn;t come close to Z5c.

The article is total wrong.....
Samsung will introduce this smartphone as a response to Apple's upcoming 4-inch iPhone SE, which will be unveiled on March 21. <-- 4.6" isn't response to SE but the 4.7" IP6s.
And it will allegedly be the first Samsung Mini to come with high-end specs. <-- This isn't the first but second. Galaxy Alpha is the first mini flagship.
Personally, I real dislike the color reproduction of Samsung so probably will wait next Sony Compact even the S7 mini is a true story.

It isn't entirely impossible however. Galaxy Alpha was released in the same time frame with Z3c. Alpha got 4.7" 720P, Note4 CPU, 2GB ram, S5 Camera, metal bumper design and switchable battery.

Well considering the z compact series is much smaller than the 4.7 iPhone, it very well could be a direct competition to the SE if it's around the same size. The point is the overall form factor and has nothing to do with actual screen size. iPhones bezels are obnoxious so the 4.7 is actually regular s7 league .

I'd be all for it if it wasn't fake! Samsung keeping flagship specs in a compact chassis is as likely as Trump becoming president.
Samsungs designs are easier to hold in hand and is about half the weight and always have great dev support to have aosp. A win in every regard! Hopefully they knock down bezel size. The alpha was too large of a phone to really be a compact. I've been on the lookout for a s5 mini g800m for a while, I would grab one of these in a heartbeat as long as they keep size down, I hate my z5c.

I think it will definitely happen. Samsung has to compete with the SE.
Btw Trump will be president.

I don't know if there's any OEMs that can provide an Android compact flagship the same good as Sony can do .Just take a look at HTC one mini 1st and 2nd generation(some may even never heard about them), they cannot even be able to afford the flagship position.
And Samsung? I am looking forward to any S minis. It's always good to have an alternative option anyway..

I agree bro. Also I don't get all the fuzz about s7... I went into a store to see it live. I believe Xperia X performance looks way better even though I didn't had the chance to see the X live. I think it's all about marketing and Sony has so much to catch up.

I'd be willing to jump ship to an S7 mini. After using my z3c for so long, I always end up going back to it no matter what phone I buy

S7 is a sexy beast (in black) I had both S7 and my black XP (prototype) in the hand. S7 is much more refined than XP, hence they've been working on that design for two generations now, so it has improved to perfection in my personal opinion. Sony is now trying the "slight" curve-design for the first generation, and there is place for refinement, that's true! But look how fast devs supports S7 and S7E. S7E already have a custom Rom, kernel and Twrp3.0.0.0. That's fast!! Sony, we wait almost 3-6 months, much because of the drm bull**** which frighten us and devs for loosing camera quality(mainly) Even though camera isn't all that dashing, quite frankly. If I had a sd820 running S7(nice footprint) with custom Rom (CM13 or RR) I wouldn't blink twice before (h)jumping on it but respect to Sony anyway for trying to keep up with the big boys, and XP is a nice device, no doubt!

Hardware and camera wise I prefer Samsung. They use Gorilla glass 4 (saw durability test vs iphone 6, it holds very well vs the metal back). I 'm not a cam happy guy, so a noob friendly camera will suit me better. I don't game on the phone so performance doesn't matter much. What matters for me is the sound quality. S7 has louder output on the headphone and speaker than Z5 according to hifi org.
But I want a stereo speaker for my morning bathroom:laugh: . It is out of question that S7 mini will have stereo speakers.

Yeah, but those issues are fixed with the MM update. It would have to be a quantum leap forward before I would dirty myself by using TouchWiz.

Samsung phones get swarms of devs, meaning aosp goodness. I never keep touchwiz for more than a few hours when I get a Samsung lol if we could get some aosp love on the z5c ID be happy, Sony's ui isn't much nicer than touchwiz

Sony's UI? Once you've switched to another launcher there isnt really anthing but stock android left.

Samsung Disappoints & HTC Steals The Show!

Hi friends. It's been a hot topic as you all know Samsung new flagship was announced yesterday. Frankly speaking, it was a overhyped phone and was the most anticipated one of the year. And unfortunately it disappoints me & many others.
Pentile Display in the flagship device is just the heck of a decision. A 4.8" HD Display should've had super amoled plus display rather than a pentile one. HTC ONE X has a true HD IPS SUPER LCD2 Display that feels a lot better.
The design is the major letdown for me. The shape isn't that good for a phone when I put this against One X. Yeah the phone is slim making a difference of 0.3mm but the entire shape didn't appeal to me much.
Made of polycarbonate same as One X but with hyperglaze that makes it more glossy and yes LET'S FACE IT; it looks cheap.
The battery isn't a difference to me. SIII houses a 2100 mAh battery and HTC ONE X has a penta-core chip making the phone to last long with a 1800 mAh battery.
SIII Camera app, S Voice are innovative and are as good as HTC ImageSense Chip and Beats Audio Integration in HTC One phones. (Camera may be a few steps ahead in One X)
New Touchwiz UI is like more of a gingerbread look rather than ICS. The true and real ICS UI would've been much better in SIII.
*Whatever the quadrant shows is not reliable. It may smack down One X but you've got to admire the build quality and UI and especially the shape and design of HTC ONE X.*
Important Note:
Buy the one you like. Admire the one you think is the best. At the end of the day the BEST phone is the one which is in your hand.
It's just a bit of comparison and talks we gonna do here. No offence whatsoever!
*I don't own any of these two devices. It was a gentle comparison and everyone has the right to have an opinion.*
Would love to listen from you people.
THANKS.
Htc one X has a poor design. Check Engadget were they are put side by side. One X looks plastic. S3 has that premium feel with the metallic surrounding. The UI is def superior to the one X too. The S3 is a sleek phone

Following the very disappointing announcement of the S3 I gave up my S2 And bought a HTC one x. The only drawback is the battery life and major pro is the LCD2.
Very disappointing !!!
The S3 have sd-card and removable battery (possible to better battery in future), thats enough to buy it instead of One X
32gb on One X. Same as the s3. seriously people you telling me you are going to fill that storage up and use more with external sd cards? sd cards are so 2011 just messing. both great phones. cant we all just get along
but seriously guys. both phones have beautiful designs. but s3 looks like the child of the galaxy note and GNEX after getting together on a night out
I hope the "Next Nexus" has a non pentile display...
Im already dreaming of the specs... which kinda makes me sad because it will probably be a let down just like the S3.

I prefer the look of the s3 and once every one starts rooting the s3 is gonna be the top phone on performance anyhow isnt it.The battery and sd card are the winners for me and as for the screen isnt the screen on the hox having loads of problems with clipping and stuff?Maybe this is why samsung went with a older screen?
For me, the design of the SGS3 is better than the OneX
The screen is moot, its way beyond my ability to discern anyway.
Being able to take spare batteries/spare SD card on holiday to shoot video/watch movies etc... makes the SGS3 way better than the OneX
Finally, the sexy new staying on if you are with your device, or auto dialing if you lift it to your head after reading an sms, is logical, simple, but brilliant.
One horse race IMO... and NO custom roms to mess up the Samy apps for me!!
Mark.

Isn't SGS3 all plastic like SGS2 ?
I will wait for the Sony or Iphone in the summer.
This is my personal view, it looked right downer to me, the Samsung Galaxy SIII smartphone is one big very ugly beast, it also cheap plastic again.
When Sony already launch a Sony Xperia with 12 meg pixels with launch smartphones in summer with 13 & 16 meg pixel. Samsung stuck with 8 meg pixel, this is massive surpried since this is 4.8 inch in size.
I will wait for Sony or Iphone or buy the Sony Xeperia S in the summer.
A massive disappointment.

The Xperia S has 2011's hardware except from the camera and the screen ( snapdragon S3/Adreno 220. WTF Sony? ). I don't think the GS3 is that ugly. It's just the ONE X is too beautiful and classy!
i think raw material of Samsung low quality when compare with Apple.
For me personally, the important thing about a sdcard slot isn't the total amount of memory, but the ability to wipe my "system partition" completely.
Like on my PC, I like to keep my photos, videos, music and other pers. data on a physically seperate "drive".
That's why HTC is no option for me, regardless of the other specs.

Really? What is so high quality about something that breaks when you drop it?
OP, you will get hell flak if you don't change the title
HTC steals the show, oh come on! Samsung are hardware manufacturers, they know the stuff!
And people debating over plastic and metallic finish, please throw your phone in the air and tell me which lives to tell the story? eh!
GSM Online PL just uploaded a video of the Galaxy S3 next to a HTC One X
You can see the diference in the build quality of the main body, i also noticed a the One X to be a little sluggish when moving through the menus, not as fluid at least.
Hearing other people's disappointment, i was disappointed too. However alot of the things people were complaining about I really don't see a problem.
Yea the htc one is a nice looking phone with a nice build. But so what's if the gs3 plastic? I remember numerous complaints about the gs2's plastic and how "cheap it felt". But look how light and thin it was. And check the drop test vs other phones as a result of this lightness. Now the design can be a little better i guess, but who cares it most likely is going to be in a case so it only matters how good the case looks.
The screen? I would rather a none pentile screen, but at 720 resolution I doubt I will be able to tell, and it being a super amoled screen i'm sure i'll love it.
Another benefit to this "dreaded plastic" to me is the removable cover. That is a big factor that would deter me from the htc one. I love being able to use a ext sd card and a removable battery is great too.
I'm not sure about the processor, but being a exynos I'm sure it will beat the tegra 3, in terms of performance and with a smaller architecture battery i bet too. Now me being in the States I'm sure we will unfortunately have a different processor than the international as the htc one does with the lte version. That to me is unfortunate.
And lastly, I'm sure that it will have a unlocked bootloader which alone would be reason enough for me to pick the gs3 over htc one.
If I still have the funds this year after getting a tablet, I'll most likely be getting the gs3. If funds don't materialize then there is always the next nexus or gs4.

I am also thinking the same about the Z1.
Bought the S2 in 2011 and used it untill the HTC One X came out in 2012. The camera was very disappointing from the One X, so this made me swap to a S4 and the S4 I hated the looks, the feeling was good with it but still that plastic is horrible. After 3 months the S4 died on me and the mainboard was dead after it came back from repair sold it right away and waited about 1,5 months for the Z1, I wanted to go for HTC One but the camera made my decision very difficult and I convinst my self to wait for the Z1.
So the Z1, it has his issues and I got one what didn't have a yellow hue problem but there are still some tweaks needed from Sony to take out some bugs/issues with the phone. But I think it looks good, it does everything what I want to do with a phone and it is waterproof.
So for me I will stick with the Z1 for at least 2 years I think, I saw some concepts from the S5 it played with the voices in my head to buy it if it will look like the concepts, so anyway I hope not and it will be a ugly phone again.
Announcing and releasing the actual device can span over several months.
I would love it if they announce the Z1 replacement because by the time it reaches Australia it would probably be June/July, just in time for a new device

The Z1 came out in September. The Z2 won't be out till summer most likely. That's almost a full year, like every other device including iPhone and Galaxy phones which come out every 8-12 months also.
Well, if Z2 is satisfy my needs, I'll jump in.
Thinner benzel.
IPS display
3GB of RAM
Larger sensor size
Better image algorithm
Bigger battery
5 or 5.2 inch is fine to me.
Z1 design.
How much you guys wanna bet it wont be Z2?
during the release of Z1, we had proper leaks a couple of months before... like we already know that it will be s800 chipset, 20mp camera, 3000 mah battery... we just don't know how it will look yet. we had leaks of the camera quality, we had leaks of the build id etc... we also had the honami home screen leaks...
for sirius I dont see any of that... just people pulling crap out of the air... its the same people panicking last December about the rumous that Z2 is coming out on CES lol turns out it was just Z1s with plastic sides lol!
it will not be a Z2, It will be a Z1R or Z1L...

Does not say anything about Z2, does not say anything about bigger battery etc.... but one clue is that it will have a home in Verizon...
how people want to bet this will be like the Z1s for T-mobile?
I have a feeling this will be the specs:
yes 5.2 inch screen lesser bezels, but it will not be waterproof... more plastic, then everything else is the same as Z1, S800 chipset, 20mp camera, 3000 mah battery... maybe a 32 gb internal storage...
not Z2 worthy!
I think the Z2 will be released around August/September
And announced around june/july

This is what the Z people must have thought when the Z1 came out. No flagship gets upstaged in just six months, its usually a year. I could not believe at the time that Sony would do it so soon.
Thing is how many of them jumped ship ? i don't think too many.
S600 + 2GB RAM is still good enough for a lot of things and even a year from now should be ok.

Yes innovation seems to be staggering year by year, if you want a true upgrade to a flagship device these days you'll have to skip a version everytime(S3 to S5 for example)
smartphones already reached their maximum size also(anything bigger than the Z ultra is just Madness)
The good thing about this is that maybe Manufacturers will start focusing on improving battery technology, that would be the next big step for smartphones

Just saw ARTICLE about new IPS screen and Sony finally have great and quality product.
I'm completely satisfied with my Z1 but if I get some interesting offer (like I got for Z1) I'll definitely try it.
Why?
Because, now, Z1 is ultimate device and Sony just upgraded it
Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
Because the Z2 is the best on the market just now, S5 rom is 8Gb compared to the Z2's 4Gb, plus Z2 has way more excellent specs. I don't care that Samsung maybe releasing a 64bit S5 later this year as I think it is too early for me to get into 64 bit phones just now; as infrastructure etc is not in place yet i.e. app devs have yet to jump on board. That is my opinion anyway...
Waterproofing
Micro SD slot
Front facing speakers
Great camera
And thankfully a big battery
Also simple things like a camera shutter button make this the best phone on the market atm.
BTW, would not touch the S5. The design combined with touchwiz is enough to put me off.
I had a Z, ZL and now Z1. Logical to have a Z2 next.

Lost faith in Samsung with there handling of s3 updates plus had problems with them regarding other Samsung products. Been a fan of sony for a while now and its coming close to my phone upgrade and the Z2 currently looks like it. I have a few months to go so plenty of time to judge the competition and see what negatives might crop up about the z2.
As long as root is easily gained with minimal drawback Ill most likely be picking up the z2.
Plus the specs of this phone do look pretty good to me
Bigger battery, nicer look, wanted something that wasn't made by Samsung for once.

Eye friendly...
I am one of the small amount percentage of population who seems to suffer from LED's displays... Sony triluminos display tech, seems to be benign on our eyes. At least sony Vaio Pro 13 and flip are better displays... This issue has years... Hope Z2 is really eye friendly to me too...
Seems spectrum of light of triluminos technology is more balanced. Not a huge blue spike on spectrum...
Here you could see a thread talking on LED's:

because of this past year i cannot trust Sony easily!
i love to buy Xperia Z2 IF all thing about display & ... be right!
if no two quality of display!
sharp display! jdc! OR all story like those!
It s ok if sony s using different company for display supplying BUT not different quality from each company.
:good:
My first phone was the Motorola RAZR V3i and have been a loyal user since then with Moto Droid & Moto RAZR... just loved the premium build quality along with excellent specs. Beauty with brains! Loved the design of Xperia Z & Z1 but was hesitant to switch due to the screen quality as I'm spoiled by AMOLED on my RAZR.
But the Z2 seems like the only phone to be awesome inside & out with no drawbacks to give me second thoughts why not to buy it... (Size was a little concern but I can live with that)
It's either the htc one 2014 or z2. I'm going to buy on tmobile 's jump program if i do decide to get one of these puppies. The phone addict in me wants the latest and greatest, but honestly don't "need" one just yet since I have the N5.
I expect by Fall, everyone will update their SOCs with 64 bit cpus. Also hope that finger print unlock and pw will be supported more widely. Not to mention waterproof and 3GB of ram. These will be must have options.

I also want to see what htc will bring to the table. I doubt it can match sony. Also would need a case since you can't get protection on the alu back.
I don't really see a need for 64 bit systems. What do you see 64 bit bring? Do phones need a new OS to match it? Will support for old systems stop?
We might not need it in the consumer space, but it's one of those things where if you can get it as a little to no-cost option, why not? I can envision a bunch of enterprise use cases like big data analytics and data visualization, not to mention phones/phablets/tablets with > 4gb of ram etc
I'm currently on a htc one x, my contract has 2 weeks on it, so I started looking. The galaxy s5 is a massive fail in my eyes, and I'm just getting bored with HTC. As soon as a saw a leak of sense 6 I knew I'd be bored. I'm going to miss BlinkFeed, but the look of the Z2 and the specs, plus noise cancelling and stereo speakers, as well as the camera (going on a once in a lifetime holiday in August), coupled with an sd card slot and waterproofing (11 pools in the resort), I think it'd be a crime not to go for the Z2. I am worried about the size a little bit, even tho I have big hands.
I have the HTC one and have very little complaints about it and the 2014 version looks promissing but that panel that used to have the capacitive buttons on it is still there but now it's just a logo. Idk why they would keep that. I hate wasted space and big bezels and I think the Z2 once I get Cyanogenmod running on it would be amazing
because the first android phone that i used was sony
sony phones are great in price , support in my country and dev's are supporting them great
and the most important one because sony phones are blazing fast and their software is useful and they don't have useless futures that only make your phone slower and they will eat your ram as hell
thats why i decided to buy sony z2
I love the design,
I love the software,
I love the camera,
I love the build quality,
I love the bigger battery,
I love front facing speakers,
And 3gb of Ram which the s5 don't have (besides I got the note 3, I dont need any more Samsung devices for now)
The Z2 and the note 3 will do me for now

Waterproofing
Micro SD slot
Front facing speakers
Great camera
And thankfully a big battery
Also simple things like a camera shutter button make this the best phone on the market atm.
BTW, would not touch the S5. The design combined with touchwiz is enough to put me off.

All of the above + 3GB RAM is what sold me. It should also make this phone relevant for a while. Can't wait for the Z2 to arrive!

So I bought an S5

So after 6 months with the Z1 I left it for and S5. Well actually my girlfriend dropped her nexus 5 in the sink and it didn't make. After playing with all the new phones I settled on the the S5. So far I do really like it but I still hate touchwiz as much as I did on my Note 2. This time they really screwed up the settings menu and it's just so hard to look at.
The things I like about the S5
screen is much nicer
fits better in my hand and is more comfortable to hold
heart rate monitor lol joking useless to me
I like having my menu buttons built into the phone so there is less space used on the screen although 4.4 help sony in this regard
removable battery
wireless charging
I have an unlockable bootloader ( my fault for buying the Z1 from a carrier)
Thing I miss from the Z!
Metal and glass construction
I found the camera to be slightly better than the S5
Camera button
walkman app ( I really liked that app)
Sony's skin is much less intrusive
Performance comparison
To tell you the truth despite the S5 having a newer processor I found the Z1 to have a little less hiccups and I'm sure touchwiz is to blame here.
My recommendation for switching if your thinking about it. Unless you really find the Z1's screen that bad I would stick with the Z1. I am happy with my S5 and overall I do like a little more than my Z1 but really its new so I'm not sure if I'm still in the honeymoon phase.
Any questions feel free to ask
Glad you found a phone you can like more,,
And from my experience playing around with my cousin's S5, i found all the same things you dont like from S5...
Freaking weird setting menu, slightly worse camera (faster focus, yes -- slightly, but stuttering UI and slower shutter), UI hiccups, and the 'isthisthingevenworking' heart rate monitor
I do found the screen to be really gorgeous, but to my hands, both Z1 and S5 are comfy in my grip.. Probably because i have big hands
I also tried to remove the back cover and sure it reminds me of Xperia ZR, but with thinner and smaller rubber shields which worries me

so is it worth getting s5 ??
I would say no, unless you hate your screen on the z1 which I didn't find that bad

Bleh s5 should probably get play edition as soon as they figure out how to implement the heart rate monitor or the fingerprint scan, because look at the z ultra play edition, it has x reality in the settings lol

Honestly I could care less about either one of those features my GF is a nurse I'll get her to check my pulse lol, the fingerprint scanner has been flaky in my experience doesn't work good one handed which is useless to me. Only thing is the S5 has a knox on it and a counter so you trip it in you flash custom recovery rumor has it that voids your warranty but on the upside there will be a way more active development community for the S5.

The note 3 looked kinda dead lol, but for tmobile might be completely different since the bootloader is unlocked, but knox still gets in the way
But interesting that the s5 should have more devolpment

Ya I'm not sure about american carriers but I think only Verizon locks the bootloader not sure though, either way it seems like it is getting harder and harder to flash roms and do what you like with these new phones. I really wanted the oppo find 7 but it was on back order and needed a phone

All my friends have Samsung and they have alot more Problems then i have with Lags, UI Hiccups and more. For me Sony is the best, i had iPhone, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and alot of Phones but since my X10 i only had Sony becouse i hate the Samsung UI and i like Sonys UI alot more then AOSP. The good thing about Sony is the Quality of the Production and the simple but nice UI, good Camera and for me the Sony Phones look alot better then Samsung. I dropped my Xperia P alot and even once when it fall down the Stairs i thought it was completly broke becouse it was more then 2 meters but had not even damaged Display, 3 of my Friends dropped their S4 from not even 1 meter and Display is broke. Another reason is i dont like Mainstream Phones that everyone has like Samsung or iPhone haha

Samsung's UI is very ugly Nova launcher helps a bit but it is heavy and is the main cause of lag for sure. As for build quality my Xperia ZL broke after a month (mic died) then replacement lasted 2 month before the usb port broke. My xperia Z after two months of use the back glue came undone from the heat the phone produced. My Z1 has been great no complaints. They all have issues but I had less problem with my samsung devices then I did Sony just my experience. No doubt the Sony looks nicer though, and I agree I first went from samsung to sony because I wanted something everyone didn't have.
Thanks for sharing your exp. with us mate.
To be honest i cant find more attractive than Z1 for now , performance wise i am happy with it and i am loving the camera specially with i hackers mod , one question how is the build quality generally ? because i owned Note2 and the build quality was terrible.

The quality is the best Samsung has put together, everything feel tight ans I do like the textured back, but the Sony has more heft and I wish Samsung would have at least make the frame aluminum.
I the S4 and a tab 3 10.1, a combo that put me off Samsung for good
So i dont have a good opinion about the S5

Samsung seems to be focusing on to many gimmicks rather than improving what people want most. I have yet to try a samsung tablet that I like. I work in I.T and we have never had great success with samsung tablets. As an android fan it hurt me to suggest Ipads for my company but they just worked better for what we needed. I have a Nexus 7 that I do really like. We do have a BYOD program at work and samsung's don't cause much problem but neither do most newer androids, but the fragmentation due to slow updates does cause us some headaches. Blackberries have been the worst since BB10 though.
best phone they did was the SG2 game changer.
Sticking to my z1 should last a few years and still be a good phone.

that and the note 1 I had the galaxy s then s2 and then note 1, I wish they would pool together their resources and start making some deadly exynos chips again
Before owning a Z1 I had a Xperia X10 Mini Pro and a Galaxy S4. When I decided to upgrade my old X10 Mini Pro I started to search for the best device available in the moment, I had 3 options back then, which were Xperia Z, HTC One and Galaxy S4. After reading a lot, I decided to change from Sony to other device, and many people started to pressure me to get S4 because it was Samsung. In the end I got the S4, which was an amazing device indeed, very powerful and had an amazing screen.
Back in January, my S4 broke (apparently bootloader problem ) and Samsung refused to fix it (I never asked to do the repair free of charge, actually I said I'd pay, but they still didn't want to fix it)! So, I'm staying away from Samsung after this. And when you have such a powerful device you don't want to downgrade anymore, so I started to search for a great device that would be good for me. I was between Nexus 5 and Z1, personally I'm not a big fan of LG, and the point that I already had a 32GB Sdcard from my S4 made me go for Sony again, if I have to change a device it'll surely be Sony again lol.
Now to the true comparison between S4 and Z1 (I never used a S5 before, so I decided to share what's the experience of changing from Samsung to Sony). When it comes to processing power, Z1 simply destroys S4, true, it's not fair comparing a Snapdragon 800 to a 600, but not only the processor is faster, but the OS in Z1 was optimized, so it gives you a better experience, not only Xperia UI is faster, but is way better looking that Touchwiz, which looks too colorful and somewhat "childish" to me (just my personal opinion). It takes me to another point in UI, now comparing Sony, Apple and Samsung... If you look at Apple iOS 7 design, it's all colorful like Touchwiz, personally I'm not a big fan of those colorful "happy/childish" designs, sometime back if you asked me about iOS design (before 7), I'd say it is professional looking, while Touchwiz was focused more on a different aspect. Now, if you ask me the same thing, I'd say that Xperia is the one with professional looking, while the other two are fighting for a younger fanbase probably.
In terms of holding the device, I never had a problem with either, however, I feel using my Xperia with two hands more than I think I did with S4, not that it is a problem though, as most of times I'm using the cellphone with only one hand, but, being a person with 190cm I have very big hands, which probably helps in this. The thing is that Xperia feels more premium due to the glass back, it's also more comfortable to hold feeling it like this.
And talking about the exterior characteristics of the device, there's one thing that's really funny that happens. When I owned a S4, people would look at it and ask: "Is it a S4?", and only after I answered "yes", they'd say "OMG! That's so GREAT!!". Now with Z1, they don't even know the device, they look and say "OMG! It looks amazing!! What device is it?", I never thought the device aesthetics would do much, now I know how it changes the way others will look at your cellphone.
Another thing that I need to say is about the camera and screen. I'm not a professional photographer, actually I took just a few, so the amazing Z1 camera is just a bonus for me, but I think Xperia's camera beat easily Galaxy's camera, specially having a physical button! When changing from X10 Mini Pro to S4 I actually felt a little harder to took more focused pictures without a button . And the screen is hard to compare, both have an amazing screen, but I will give the point for S4 on this one, the viewing angles were way better, however you have a display over saturated in Galaxy, which can be a little annoying, that's why I loved Sony's display .
Also, like said by someone before me, I think Samsung has many useless apps, while Z1 had apps that I actually used or if I didn't use there were just a few anyway. At least, but not last, I like the exclusivity of being a Sony user, as everyone either has an iPhone or a Samsung .
Glad to know that OP liked his new acquisition . Personally Samsung is a no go for me anymore, hope you enjoy your device ^^.

Just to make clear I do like the S5 a lot but my main point to the thread was to give people an idea of what the next gen was like comparing it to the Z1. I agree with all your points I'm 6'4 so my hands are big and neither devices is that easy to use one handed. Although I do like how samsung puts the back button on the right. Despite sony having some odd hicups with software there skin is way better and way nicer to look at.
The main reason I made this thread was for people to ask some questions and mostly to tell people not get envious of the new phones. My gf has my Z1 now and I still miss it. Performance in benchmarks are better on the S5 but as the saying goes that means nothing. I turned off all the animation on my S5 so the UI would be more fluid and that says a lot about Samsungs UI. Basically the only things that really makes me feel like I improved on is the screen. I am photographer and both cameras are good for the small sensor size but the sony camera app is way better. I use mostly pentax K3 and K2IIs for most my shooting and just bough the Sony A7r and I can tell sony has been really pushing advancement in the full frame camera world. I too like you switched to sony because everyone had a samsung and I wanted something different, If the Z2 was availible here to buy I would have gotten that one

Hi,
I get what your thread was, sorry if I went off topic . I saw some people sharing their experiences with other Samsung devices and I felt inspired myself hehe. I didn't intend to rant at Samsung, S5 or anyone, just a personal opinion .
For Sony camera app I completely know what you mean! When I installed a custom ROM on my X10 Mini Pro I really felt the lack of the camera app hahaha! And now Z1 is great for me, reminds me of a Cybershot camera (you know, those small ones).
By the way, I ended up forgetting to ask a question . I saw some pics of S5 and it looked a little bulky, do you feel the difference in it? Also much do you think they've improved from the older devices build? Because personally I didn't like build quality of S4, specially after some time the back started to get scratched, but I did like how the bezels were small, which I think they didn't do in S5...

sony xZ upgrade or downgrade

Any one played with a standard xz.
Been offered one not sure if its a downgrade
Extreme downgrade. Sony phones are garbage with the worst screens I've ever seen.

The screens alone make me want to vomit in my mouth
960fps slow motion sounds interesting and also the video stability seems much better.
Probably unpopular opinion, but you know what? I'd take the Sony.
Don't get me wrong, I love my Nexus 6P. I've loved all my Nexus phones since the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, but given the chance I'd change it up.
Like you mentioned, the camera is pretty awesome. I also like that you can upgrade the storage up to 256gb with SD cards. I miss those things so much and I've got about a dozen of them from old phones just laying around. It also has the 820 in it, which is nice. Dual front facing speakers which is a huge plus for me. Adaptive charging seems pretty interesting as well. The icing on the cake for me would be the native PS4 Remote Play support. No need for root in order to use that.
IDK, I used to root my phones and mod the crap out of them, but since Android M / N, I'm finding myself making less and less modifications to the phones. I'd be using ROMs with all the bells and whistles, but now I just use a stock based ROM with maybe 1 or 2.
I guess it depends what you want to out of it. I'd check out the development forum on XDA for the phone and see if it has enough going on for you.
As far as the screen goes, that's highly subjective. The Nexus 6P uses an AMOLED capacitive touchscreen @ 1440x2560 551ppi. Sony XZ has a IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen @ 1080x1920 424ppi. Some people just prefer AMOLED and some like LCD better. It's pretty much always been an ongoing battle between smartphone users. The bandwagon fans from either side are almost as bad as Android vs Apple itself, honestly. Best to try to go to Best Buy or some other retailer and see if you can play around with one. That way you can decide how you feel about the screen in person before you make a decision.
Both have 3gb RAM. Xperia does have a smaller battery 2900mAh vs the Nexus 6Ps 3450mAh. However it is a smaller phone and the display isn't as high resolution as the 6Ps. It also features the adaptive and quick charging, not to be confused with our rapid charging.
Software is almost stock Android at this point as well.
I'd say watch this video;
Go try to play with one I store and see how you like it, but I definitely would not immediately dismiss it as a blatant downgrade. Not at all.
Please keep discussion civilised, no arguing or foul language!
