If you don't know why, you don't need to flash a custom kernel. If you want to know what the advantages of using a custom kernel might be, there's plenty of information online, just search for it.

Well, it is your obligation to actually search for the information before creating a thread here, as per the rules that you agreed to when becoming a member of this site.

no doubt.
anyone who wants a stable rom with minimal "bugs", stick with stock rom + kernel combo.
@op: you'vd been here longer than i have. you should know better than to make a thread about this. just saying.
Just because i don't doesn't mean i can't.
OP as posted, nothing wrong with Stock if that is the stablest for you...Thanks.

Rooting & Custom Rom on 10.3.1.A.0.244

Hi,
I was in UK unbranded 4.12, but after a lot of thought have flashed 10.3.1.A.0.244 using the flashtool. Now I want to root and install custom ROM. I have an unlocked BL.
1. Is this the correct link to root my device? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2386405
2. If so, can I install this firmware http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2351803 or this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2208249 ?
I understand from reading from the guides that rooting will void the warranty, but after rooting and installing custom rom, is it possible to unroot in the future, if needed, to my stock firmware? I know this is a noob question, but have spent hours in this site for the past couple of days and still unclear, that is why these questions. Thanks

Go to the general section, start at the top, read the thread titles, done. Asking questions is one thing, asking to be molly coddled is another.

Your first question is answered by reading the thread title you've linked to, and the second is answered by reading the instructions in the OP of the ROM thread.

If you can't help yourself don't expect others to. You could have the ROM installed by now, but I guess you're still waiting for someone to point out the obvious.

Root + ROM

Hello, is there any safe method of root and some good rom type cyanogenmod?. Thank you.
+1 for this. I would like to see a stock Android ROM and would donate to help development.
We currently don't have any kernel sources for this device and not so many people have it, so I think a custom ROM is a question of future.

Custom ROMs already exist, I found them on a Russian forum. I'm on mobile right now, will dig up a link tomorrow.

This custom ROM is just a slightly modded EMUI, based on Russian or Chinese official firmware. It doesn't require building from sources and differs only in built-in root, some pre-installed apps and custom boot animation. It's not what topic starter wants.

I may be wrong here but I read hauwei provides kernel sources on demand (http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6/general/huawei-provide-kernel-source-code-t3328551). May be we should mail them asking for sources ?

You may have a try, why not? I'm not a ROM developer and I can't say I don't like EMUI (I wouldn't buy the tablet then). If someone gets the sources, it could speed up the development of something more pure-Android. People on 4PDA would be thankful to anyone who brings such a thing and possibly will help developing something.
As for me, I'd better dig into EMUI properties and flags. (/cust folder, etc...)

As a Senior member, you should know by now that there's no such thing as the "best ROM". This is entirely dependent on personal usage. What works for me, may not work for you. Feel free to try them all and formulate your own opinion.
Thanks!

As xiaomi has released the kernel source,is it possible that we'll see some development of this mobile? And official custom rom supports?
