[Q] Is hacking possible on Spice MI 300, Samsung Galaxy 3 and Samsung Galaxy 5?

Hi.
I'm just planning on purchasing a ultra low-end Android mobile phone, and was wondering about the possibilities of customizing/hacking the ROM. The devices I'm looking at are more for emerging markets, except maybe the Samsung Galaxy 3.
I just want to know if the Spice MI 300, which has a HVGA 3.2" Capacitive touchscreen, coupled with a 600 Mhz Qualcomm processor, and 256 MB of RAM could be modded, or replaced with a Cyanogen mod or similar ROM?
I'm a complete noob at this stuff, so spare me if this post is in the wrong forum/topic section.
Hi,
I too am considering buying the MI-300. Do you know where to get it Bangalore?

[Request] New Adreno 200 libs for Chipset MSM7227 compatible with ICS

Hi everyone,
To be able to have a full ICS Rom we need new compatible Adreno 200 libs!
Xperia X10 mini / X10 MiniPro / X8 have the same Chipset Qualcomm MSM7227 (CPU: 600 MHz ARM 11 / GPU: Adreno 200).
Exist a lot of devices with that Chipset: see here
MSM7227
These devices are GSM cousins of the Snapdragon chips, for example they include OpenGL ES 2.0 engine and Adreno 200 included.[6]
Popular phones using these processors:
MSM7227 600 MHz (ARMv6);[7] LG Optimus Me, Samsung Galaxy Fit, Samsung Galaxy Mini, Samsung Galaxy 551, LG Optimus Chic, ZTE Blade, HTC Legend, Mytouch 3G Slide, HTC Gratia, LG Optimus One P500 GSM, ViewSonic ViewPad 7, Samsung Galaxy Europa, Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 (SE Shakira), HTC Aria, Palm Pixi GSM, OlivePad VT-100, HTC Wildfire S, Alcatel OT-990, Micromax A70, LG Optimus chat L-04C, Huawei Pocket WiFi S II S41HW, Huawei Ideos X3, Huawei Sonic U8650, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro, Garmin & Asus M10, WellCom A88, Coolpad W706, Garmin & Asus A10.
MSM7227 Turbo 800 MHz (ARMv6);[7] Samsung Galaxy Gio, Samsung Galaxy Ace, Odys Space, LG Optimus Net, LG Optimus Hub, ZTE Skate, HTC ChaCha, HTC Salsa, Huawei smart bar S42HW, Coolpad 7260.

The idea is to request to Qualcomm to provide new libs for MSM7227 (armv6) like they provide to QSD8250 (armv7)...
Please join us in Qualcomm Developer Network site to request them these new libs here: MSM7227
Thanks
I'm supporting this initiative/request to qualcomm.
Is there another way for us to get the libs?

Well i do not think so!
I do not see mobile manufacturers (samsung, sony, ...) invest for old device, this is why we request directly to Qualcomm...

And there you see why the hype about the release of a set of BINARY drivers is highly overrated. Open Source driver code or bust.
I support this request and strongly believe qualcomm will support the volunteer developers.

Here's what I have put together myself:
U8800 aka IDEOS X5 - MSM7230 800MHz WCN1312
U8800-51 aka Impulse 4G - MSM7230 800MHz BCM4329 *
U8800Pro aka IDEOS X5 Pro - MSM8255 1GHz BCM4329
* U8800-51 does not have analog TV out feature, it's replaced with something called "hearing aid".
* U8800-51 is basically U8800 with a different Wi-Fi+BT+FM chip OR U8800-51 is basically U8800Pro with a different processor (although from the same family).
I don't think Huawei will respond but it's worth a try .

I don't understand how it is possible to flash another ROM with a different processor. However, it seems that the -51 came out after the pro. Maybe they have updated hardware inside? I just can't flash a regular rom on top. I get a boot loop.

YEAH!!! WE'RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!!!:victory::highfive:
People understand, no one will be releasing a new firmware! The company policy is that their primary purpose is the sale of a large number of phones in a short period of time. Buyers phones of this company, forget about the support! Those who need support in the long term, select Samsung or Nexus. The 8800 problem is that it uses a chip WiFi and BT 2 in 2, and 8800pro is 2 to 1. This chip and platform 8255 Mass and therefore easy for them to do roms and firmware, as well as port their. Iron u8800 is not very suitable for this, so it should be required of the larger development costs on a given WiFi and BT module. I wish that the company Huawei does not support or upgrade old machines, so the 8800 is still relevant phone that I still crawling, though I already have SGS3. For myself, I also noticed that the more I will not buy phones from this company! The lack of support and a normal service, put a large cross on a desire to purchase units of the firm. You will also advise you to think about it! I hope for the forum is not yet extinct normal programmers, and they will be able to port the JB in our unit, with a fully functional working. I would like to appeal to you and to the entire community programmsty XDA - why all the rivet bunch of custom firmware for devices such as SGS3 and other modern devices, if they are in stock so good!?? Yet this community was formed for a very different, just the same to support older devices! Let us then you will cease to do useless firmware for top devices and prefer the old devaysa eg 8800 and the rest! I hope it will be so!

The phone work Ok, with the exception of Hoptspot feature, refuse the connections! Maybe a problem on the software Android 6.0...
From Doogee Support NO answer till today, also form the Aliexpress Shop Seller. I bough from dx deal express from uk. and it was the same
I recently bought 3 from dealextreme also. If you check the phone with other CPU identifying apps, it shows all good. CPU Z is great, but it is well known for getting chip information incorrect in phones and PCs alike. Just google it.
Great for a cheap phone!! Just be aware that the default ROM does have malware in it which should be removed IMMEDIATELY!!
Thanks

The phone was good but the information of hardware show something is not correct. The support from Doogee ANSWER to emails was Zero!!
About the ROM with Malware, i don’t know nothing about... ( the phone is on my Daughter hands), only NO permit (YET) access to Hotspot, but seems a usual problem on Android 6, resolved ( on other Android 6) phone that i have with this solution :http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/how-enable-tethering-android-6-0-marshmallow-update-1524792

Working together with a new hardware vendor on a SF port for his new device?

Hi folks,
last week i read news about i new hardware vendor from Berlin who is going to release his thin and lightweight device in this summer. As i like the specs i asked them if they are willing to support the community in developing a SF port for their new device? They answered that they like the idea but doesn't have the manpower to realize it. So my thought is weather all interested people should become a group which is going to realize SF on this device, maybe together with Jolla similar to the Sailfish X project?
Here some some specs of the
Carbon 1 Mark II
Size: 153.5 x 74 x 6.3 mm
Weight: 125g
Screen: 6.01" 2.160 x 1.080 AMOLED
ROM: 128GB
RAM: 8GB
SOC: Mediatek Helio P90
iFixit-Score: 9/10
https://www.carbonmobile.com/
Is someone familiar with the Mediateks Helio P90 SOC?
How is interested in supporting this idea?
Has someone a connection to Jolla for answering if they are also interested?
Best regards

As long as the source code is provided in full, it should be relatively easy. $900 for any Helio P90 is way overpriced though.
The main issue with Mediatek CPUs is that they tend to not release all relevant source code. If we get past that, we should be fine.
