Does Verizon nornally match BOGO offers from ATT and T mobile? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

Currenty with ATT and preordered thru Verizon. Now seeing these BOGO offers for ATT and T mobile which is an awesome deal for me as my wife wants a new s7 as well. Does Verizon normally match BOGO offers ? Thanks!

No they don't usually match Bogo offers unfortunately unless they come out with one of there own. I'm sorry

No worries thanks!

I saw a commercial today where Verizon is now offering BOGO on the S7. Just bought two phones a week ago. Anyone know if they will retroactively apply this to my purchase?

You will have to return them and re purchase.

Usaully these involve adding a new line of service. That's the way Verizon did it with the S6 promo a few months back

That's what I was originally thinking. Then I read this:
Users that have already purchased one of Samsung's new flagships needn't worry, as they will also be eligible for the gift, Corporate Communications Manager Trevor Thomas reportedly confirmed.

In my case, I moved service so both lines are new.

That's a god deal for you then. I'm a existing customer so I would have to add a new line witch is something I'm not going to do. At least I will get the VR and then my son will be happy with that.

From what I read the line only has to stay open for 6 months. So ~$120 for a new S7.

I think the VR is just a plastic housing version of Google Cardboard.

I looked into it more today and decided not to bite on it. I'm eligible but I don't need another line and the device payments for close to three months while I wait for the prepaid Visa. There are taxes that need to be paid on the new phone and taxes every month on the new line along with the activation fee. The jumping through hoops are not worth it to me. I have a feeling I would get stuck one way or another in the end.

Verizon Nexus 6 was "supposed" to be released today.

Spoke to a Verizon rep randomly today because I was about 10 seconds away from getting out of my EDGE plan and have a competitor buy me out of a contract. I am patient but for the love of god give me something Verizon. This is ridiculous.
Anyway, long story short I happen to get myself a fanatic today. He had a lot more information than any other rep I have spoken to and I have had my fair share of run ins with these clowns. I figured I would give some love back to my community.

Oh ok. I am about to give up on the nexus 6 with Verizon man.
If I remember correctly edge is not a contract so you don't have a termination fee, just a payment fee. And from what I heard from T-Mobile, they will only buy out your contract/pay termination fee. They will not pay your edge installment balance off. Just fyi if you did want to eventually leave Verizon while you have Edge installments.

I hear you. I got tired of waiting and purchased from Moto directly, took advantage of their no-interest payments. Sold my G3 to offset some of the costs.

That's right. What I was going to do was pay 75% of my phone off and get started in a contract so another company can buy me out that way.

That's early edge, meaning that you're recycling into another edge installment. you have to completely pay off your phone if you wanted to leave the service. it looks like what you're trying to do has a slim chance of seeing a glimmer of light lol. all in all, if you do it this way, pay the full amount of the phone you have and sell it at ebay/swappa/cl price. not sure what phone you have but i'm sure you'll be losing a few hundred bucks. sorry buddy, that's the trick of edge, they got you.

That's good to know that you can switch over. That also means you just forked over hundreds of dollars (to pay off 75% for a device) to verizon AND bought a new phone under a 2 year agreement plus activation fee. But if you started edge when it first came out, then there's no problem about that since you've been already paying that for that period of time.
Or, are you planning to switch to a different carrier for them to pay ETF?

I'm doing the 2yr contract. Getting the moto x since its free right now with the headphones. With all the fees I'm paying about 90 dollars. Than I'm going to sell them on ebay. To help with the cost of the nexus 6.
Thought I'd mention that on the official Verizon forums I found a post from mid December where a person claimed to have been told January 2nd by a support rep. That gives me hope that it truly will be released eventually.
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using Tapatalk
VZ extended their exchange period for the holidays until 1/15. I GUARENTEE they won't release it during that time period. Look for it no earlier than 1/16.
I switched the family over to Verizon yesterday and ended up using a iphone 5S IMEI to get my number to activate before popping it in my CW Nexus 6. The rep that was doing the activations said that he has played with a Verizon Nexus 6 during his training. He asked me how I liked it. I did ask him when it would release and he said he wasnt sure, just that the phone was undergoing testing and should release soon.
Only gripe would be that I cant do Data while On a phone call. Was used to this when I was on AT&T and came in handy while on Conf calls and such.

S7 AT&T Buy One Get One (BOGO) Deal

My girlfriends dad works at an AT&T call center and told me they started doing a BOGO deal Saturday 2/27.
I already did a pre-order at Best Buy…went back Sunday 2/28 and cancelled my order and re-placed with a BOGO. Both phones have to be on AT&T Next. The BOGO covers around $23/month for the 2nd phone and you can get either model for the 2nd phone. Best Buy also told me I’d get the free Gear VR and Micro SD card for both phones…don’t think there’s a better deal out there.
Can't find anything mentioned via google or on ATT site.

I didn't either but I definitely got the BOGO deal at BestBuy and talked to AT&T support on the phone who confirmed the BOGO deal availability. Not sure why they aren't advertising it everywhere.
Still have to pay the first 2-3 months for both phones on AT&T Next but AT&T credits the 2-3 months of payments back for the 2nd BOGO phone and then cover $23-ish per month going forward. You also have to pay the tax upfront for both phones not just 1.
Other mentions of the BOGO deal here. Wonder if you can get two $100 Target gift cards with a BOGO. That would be way better than BestBuy considering MicroSD cards are only $30 each.
I'm reading the fineprint and it doesn't seem the S7 is part of this deal...

I've searched the AT&T website a few times and can't ever find the S7 BOGO details even though I was able to order it.
From your experience have you seen AT&T not show promos like this? I'm amazed AT&T isn't running commercials about this to try and get customers to switch.
Can someone explain this to me, without me having to call AT&T. Was planing on getting the S7 anyway but might as well maybe do this. I know I will have to pay for taxes for both and I think the first 3 months. But It says I have to add a new line..Does that make it cost more monthly? I would like to just give my wife the other S7.
Thanks

As far as I know you have to add a new line. I added a line to my mobile share plan and ported my girlfriend from Verizon.
If you and your wife already have a shared plan and one of you is on month-to-month billing (No 2 year plan or AT&T Next still lingering), maybe you can have AT&T cancel that line and re-add a "new" line with the same phone number so you can get the BOGO. That's the best I got for "cheating" the system lol.
I just switched from vzw to at&t and got the bogo deal on 2 s7s and 2 edges with the unlimited plan for uverse subscribers. Only needed 3,myself, my wife and son, but with the 4th line free and 2 free phones I now get to be the douche who carries 2 phones around because why not, it was free. Wife gets an edge and son gets the s7 and I can play with both with unlimited data. Eat that Verizon!
I just spoke with at&t as I have a pre-order for s7 Edge arriving today for a new line I added. She said there was a BOGO offer between 2/23 and 2/28 (I believe) and my order was on the 26th, so I was eligible for it. However, it's too late now to take advantage of it. Even if I returned the device, there isnt a current BOGO offer on S7/S7E.
Let me know if anyone has different information, but that's what I was just told.

It must have gone past the 28th. I went to Best Buy on the 27th about an hour before they closed and asked them about the deal. They just got the email 15 minutes before I came. They were stunned I knew about it.
I did this today so it is still working, went to best buy and walked out with 2 S7's and VR headsets and everything. The actual AT&T rep was there and confirmed that the bogo worked.
I don't think this was answered:
Do you have to add a new line? My wife and I are already on AT&T, and last time we tried to open new line with old number it turned into a giant clusterbomb.
Would it work if I ported my number to Google Voice earlier in the day? That way AT&T would presumably cancel my existing line, and then I can open a new line for the free phone? Can this be avoided???

You have to add a new line, yes. if you had a line not under contract you could do a work around by porting it if you want to keep the number but I don't think google voice would work... Maybe a cheap prepaid though like tracfone?

Just to make sure I understand, if I go and buy a Tracfone sim-card tonight and port my AT&T number to it, then when I go to buy my S7's on Friday I can just port the number right back and there won't be any issues and it will count as a new line?
Thanks for this thread everyone. Just called AT&T after I got my pre-order from Best Buy & got another Galaxy S7 Edge. Had to open another line but I'm thinking about doing the same thing as porting the number out then back in. Thanks

So the wife and I left T-Mobile for AT&T and got the bogo deal for the Note 7's. Has anyone taken their phones back with this bogo deal and been compensated with another bogo deal? I honestly might go back to T-Mobile of I lost this deal because of this recal, thanks in advance.

I have the same situation - 2 note 7s - one for me and one for the wife using BOGO. I called AT&T today and couldn't get a straight answer. She said it was up to the AT&T corporate store where I bought it.... I told her I wasn't asking for a guarantee of any specific model or the inventory in that store - just is there a corporate policy and she told me it is the discretion of the store...
By BOGO transferred from the first Note 7 replacements as long as I didn't cancel the new line... but I sold the free phone so now I dont know what will happen.

Was in the store first thing this morning. Got an S8 which I will not open. Will and sell as soon as gift card comes and cancel the extra line. Will keep the S8+ as an upgrade.
Add in the current promotions, and it gets even better with 1 yr of NETFLIX (already received). I'll use that.
2 VR headsets and 2 Entertainment Kits which I'll sell.
While not a free $850 phone, it's pretty close. Did the same thing with the BOGO on the S7 Edge last year. Does take some cash., a bit of time and patience, but it does work. Thanks again TMO.

This is exactly what I'm thinking about doing. I worked it out to being about $316 up front with taxes and down payments for the S8 and S8+. How quickly did you get your gift card? Cause I don't want to be paying $20/month for very long for a phone line I'm not going to use.
That's to my point about about "cash, time and patience". Will take a while to get the gift card. I recall with the S7 Edge it was about two months for me but I got into the deal after it had been going on for a while. For this one, I did the $750 rebate registration as soon as I got back from the store so presumably, I'll be near the front of the line.
You really have to wait until you get the gift card before canceling the 2nd line. Then use the gift card to pay off the phone and then sell it.
Buy one get one is a good deal in itself. But if you think those free gifts are worth anything you got another thing coming. You'll be lucky those gifts net you more than $60

I also did this yesterday. The reps in the store were telling me I need to keep that extra line for 6 months and then I can cancel it. I'm leaning toward that is not true and that store just needs me to keep it for 6 months to get credit. I filled out the BOGO promotion when I got home for the $750 mastercard. So, I'll pay it off in full once I get it and try to cancel.

Yeah that sounds like pretty typical sales rep b.s.. You shouldn't have any problem cancelling the line once the phone is paid off.

Cool, that's what I was thinking. I read over the paperwork too and didn't find any 6 month requirement. Just said it had to be paid off if the line is cancelled.
Interesting update. Last evening, I sold my previous S7 Edge BOGO (that I was in to for free) for $380 on eBay. Perfect condition and all original packaging. That money just went to pay down the installment plan for the BOGO phones.
Assuming that the S8+ in this deal holds good value, and that TMO continues to do these BOGO deals, you can get into a cycle where you actually net out positive each time through. It will certainly happen for me this time.

T-MOBILE promotion

https://www.t-mobile.com/offers/google-pixel-2-offer
Get 325 rebate for adding a new line with pixel 2. I already ported my number out of T-MOBILE to Cricket and will port it back to T-MOBILE once I get my phone.
On top of that I turning in my phone to Google for 410 so since I am buying a regular pixel 64GB and not getting protection the phone will essentially be free
*Update* my little scheme doesn't work if you cancelled after 10/03. So you have net add a line.
Would have been cheaper to add a line. There is no requirement to keep that line active after the card ships which is 2 months tops. For me that's $30 total just to get a $325.
Not necessarily, I have 4 lines so I am paying only $5 more instead of paying $25 more

So I add a line, wait for the prepaid card, cancel the line, use the Pixel on my old line?
Or I wonder if you have to use the Pixel on the new line? And I wonder if people on old Simple Choice plans can do this?

You'd have to switch to the One Plan.
You would add a line and then wait for the card to ship. Once that is done the processing is finished which the requirements. For me with kickbacks will cost me $30 total to get the $325 card at the most. If they ship within 4 weeks then it'll be $15. The Pixel doesn't have to be on that line, because the Pixel won't be in their system.

This is exactly what I'm planning to do. In addition, if you are over 55, you can switch to the 55+ plan as soon as the rebate is shipped which will allow 2 lines on the ONE plan for $60. Only one person has to be 55 so have your mom or whoever is over 55 open the account and have unlimited everything for $30.

I did the BOGO for s7 and you have to wait until the prepaid card ships. It took at least 2 months for me to get the rebate
I switched my pixel 1 over when they had the last promotion. They emailed me my $450 rebate to pay off my phone within 2 weeks. It was pretty legit.

When I did the S7 BOGO it took 3 weeks for mine to ship. The S8 BOGO I did took 5 weeks. Think it depends on how early in line you are.

I was pretty late on the promotion so that maybe why. I just figured they wanted at least 2 billing cycles knowing that at least half would cancel the line.

I assumed T-Mobile would have something that would keep the line active for longer than 2 months. There's still time for them to change the terms as their promotion isn't live yet. When it goes live I am going to read the terms one last time to make sure.

Sadly, they took away the ability to add a Pixel to an existing account for the promotion. Last year you didn't need to add a line.

Actually, you had to be a new customer coming from Verizon. That's technically adding a line to a new account or someone elses account. I know because I did the deal and now am a Tmobile customer.

I was under the assumption that you were discussing the Get out of the Red promotion which was the pixel Tmobile promotion only for Verizon Customers. : https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/t-mobile-get-out-of-the-red/
Get Out Of the Red is a separate promotion. Your best promotion depends on what your current status is.

That doesn't stack with this promotion.

Update, you can't cancel a line before 10/03. So my idea backfired.
