Edge Screen Issue - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Is anybody finding it very easy to accidently catch skin on the edge of the screen and this interact with the device? I never had this issue with the S6 Edge but I'm finding sometimes whilst I'm typing or selecting things the phone will lag because it's detecting a second touch from my hand where I'm holding it.
I thought maybe this could be software related as surely something will be built in to cut out accidental touches?

I guess you need that separation from Palm to screen.

Touchscreen way too sensitive

Has anyone noticed that the screen on this phone is way too sensitive? Mine goes as far as to register a touch when I hold my finger a few millimeters away. This results in accidental double presses and is very frustrating especially when typing. I even made sure the high sensitivity setting was off.
When in Camera mode, it even snaps photos by itself without my finger anywhere near the shutter button.
Any tips?

Nobody else with this issue? I'm debating whether to exchange this phone for another s4 or just trade it for an HTC one at this point.

Have you tried turning off AirView?
There is a mode you need to turn off which makes it more sensitive. For winter and gloves.

Turned off air view and all other superfluous Samsung gimmicks.

I'm not having that problem. If you like the phone, warranty it out. That's not normal.

Could your setting "high touch sensitivity" under display settings be turned on? Also for the camera, could it be you are saying things similar to cheese or smile or shoot?

As stated in OP I had made sure that the hi sensitivity option is off as well as any other convenience features.
As for the camera, I have been in windy conditions when this was occurring, so maybe it was thinking I was giving voice commands. But I had all of that turned off as well, so I'm not sure what the deal is.
I will probably revert to factory settings again before returning the phone to make sure it's not a software issue.
I think that Samsung went a little overboard with the touchscreen on this phone. I do not like the fact that everything can be used to touch the screen. What I actually liked about my iPhone 4s was that it was picky about only recognizing fingertip touches.
Great phone overall but this issue sadly ruins it for me. I do not want to go back to iOS so I think HTC One is the only other strong competitor.

I am having the same problem as you. I can type without actually touching the screen. Now that I know it isn't normal, I guess I'll swap it for a new one...

Taking a Screenshot

Firstly, Mod if there is already a thread on this topic please move my post there.
I'm experiencing serious problems when trying to take a screenshot with the palm swipe. I had no problem whatsoever on my S III. I'm disabled & can't use the shortcut.
Ideas? TX

I find holding the power and the home button is more convenient for a screenshot, try that maybe?

Is there anything blocking the sensor at the top? (Screen protector, case, etc)?

No. I have a Cimco TPU case (more like a sleeve) & it's not blocking the sensor.

I just tried the palm swipe and I realized I had to press on the screen with more force than on the S3 (I've tried both). Also I think air gesture has to be toggled on (as well as palm motion obviously )

Hmm. I'm pretty darn sure air gesture is toggled too but will check again. I'll also try pressing harder.

Just remembered to respond. Air Gesture was turned off. That said, I remember taking a few screenshots just after I got the phone & AG was definitely off. I also read a bit more about this feature. Supposedly you can hold a finger ~3" over the sensor & it'll activate. Not on my phone...

It's been my experience that I have to physically touch the screen in order for the screen wipe to take a screenshot. I've also found this feature somewhat unreliable as it sometimes moves the screen and then takes a shot of a screen that I have no interest in.

S4 and Otterbox

Anyone have strange issues with airview and cases?
I normally wouldn't use a screen protector but one came with the Otterbox commuter so I used it.
My airview seems to jump around with the case and screen protector.

Perhaps part of the case is sticking down to the screen protector covering the screen somewhere. Sounds to me like there is a section of the screen being held down and when you attempt to use the feature, it jolts and jumps around not knowing where you want it to move.
I noticed this issue with a couple of cases on my friends. I think it is the cover near the sensors. What they did was remove the screen protector near sensors area and widen up the sensor area if your case covers it.

Ya I may take the screen protector off. Don't really need it just need the protection from dropping it

I think it may have been the screen protector as I have removed it and works great now.

Build quality

Guys had my phone for about a week.
Im not too sure if this has been happening since i got it or not..
But if i gently shake my device it feels like something is loose around the camera module or in the camera
Can anyone confirm if this is a known thing?

That's normal. The rattle you hear is the auto focus mechanism moving. My S5 does that too as do several others.

Home button getting scratched

Has anyone elses home button started to get wore out or like scratches on it? I noticed mine today. It doesnt affect the finger print unlock but im afraid that it may.
Is there any cover for it that would still allow for finger print unlock? Thanks

Skn sells body protectors. Or also touch button protectors? I found nothing about this last on site.

I have scratches on my home button so I emailed Samsung support reporting it but it's been 5 days and still no response from them.
