How to add power menu controls for ringtone volume/vibrate/mute for Lollipop? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have the Ambasadii ROM, which I really like, it's this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-develop/rom-lollipop-ambasadii-t3055001/
But I'm really missing the power menu options to control ringtone volume. I've seen posts that allow you to add this back but they all use Xposed, which I think my ROM can't support. Can anyone tell me how to add these controls without Xposed? I am rooted and could probably manage a low-level config tweak if that's the only way.
Thanks

Thank you for pointing out that post. It's for the S5 and it looks like it's not been tried by anyone else. I have done a bit of research around modifying framework.res.apk. Would you recommend giving it a go on my phone? I guess it would be sensibe to make an Nandroid backup before doing it?
Thanks

[Q] How do you remap the hardware buttons?

I just picked up my S4 yesterday and am loving it so far (came from an ELTE). However, I would really like to map the long press of each of the 3 buttons to something else. The main things I would like to be able to access with the buttons are: voice search, in-app search and kill current app. I've searched around and haven't found much. Please let me know if there's a way to do this!
Thanks!
This isn't possible on a stock rom, but some custom roms have this ability, like Slim bean

Thank you for the reply. That's exactly what I wanted to know. I've rooted my phone, but I'm waiting until after the 14 day return period to flash a custom recovery/rom (so as to avoid any shenanigans if I decide to return it). I guess I'll have to wait until then for this functionality.
You can try one of the xposed modules. They work on stock rooted, odexed or deodexed. The latest one is available on the market called wanam xposed. Follow the instructions, you will have to download the xposed framework and install it before you run the wanum xposed. There is also nottach xposed you can find in the apps section in this forum. Not all of the features work for our phone but many do especially the new wanum xposed.
Won't modify the system files do the trick?

Cruise, your suggestion worked perfectly. Remapped the buttons the way I wanted, and got some other nice tweaks, too. Thanks again!

Hey dodgeboy...I came across your thread here while looking for the same solution to remap the menu key to long press kill app. I'm sort of noob on this stuff, but wondered if you can tell me exactly what you installed to make this happen? I'm on Stock Rooted, MF9, Deodexed. Hope this doesn't bug you. Thanks sir.

[Q] Is this the default kitkat UI?

Hi,
I have just installed a custom kitkat ROM for my N9005, I was wondering if the side/corner menu shown here in the attach picture is kitkat's default feature. If so, how can I disable this? Its kinda annoying because I keep activating it by accident whenever I touch the corner of my screen.
Thanks.

This feature is called a Pie Menu and I think can be disabled in the settings somewhere. Sorry haven't installed a cyanogen/aosp-based rom in a while so not very familiar where to find the exact setting.

[Q] SOLVED Long press Menu button remap...

I'm trying to find out how to remap the long-press Menu and assign it to Google Now voice activation. I have Wanam Xposed installed with the Xposed Additions Pro, but that doesn't give me a way to remap long-press Menu. I've browsed the files in the keylayout folder, but don't want to perform guesswork in there for obvious reasons.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I believe I've seen button remapping options in GravityBox for xposed, however I don't use GB as it does not like TouchWiz based roms and many features simply don't function.
i use GB with KK and find that almost everything works and you can see the features here
you can also check the Xposed repo where i am sure you can find something here
good luck

Xposed Additions does allow long press remapping but you can't choose an app for it, just system functions. The easiest way to to it is to just delete S-Voice and it will default to Google Now.
Thanks for all the replies...

I've already disabled S-Voice, but now nothing happens when I long press Menu...can't seem to assign anything to it either...even via Xposed Additions Pro...

Unfortunately I'm on OTA KK (TouchWiz) so it sounds like GB won't work properly

I forgot that you also need to delete S-Finder, I have Google Now working on mine with the menu long press.
I found an Xposed module that works, it's Xbutton Actions, you can find it here.

Navigation bar not working

Hi there, it looks like my bottom part of my nexus 4 touch is dead which makes the navigation bar unresponsive, however i was able to make it work with the help of xposed framework by increasing the height of navbar.
My question is can't i make modification in the rom itself and flash it and make it a parmanent fix so that everytime i factory reset rom i dont have to use xposed framework? Because uninstalling the gravitybox app reverts the changes i made to navbar. If this is possible please let me know the procedure for the same.
Thanks
(Current using AICP rom)

You could install a ROM that has this option incorporated in it, like Chroma, for example. There are more such ROMs in the development section.

Well, another solution would be to decompile framework-res.apk and change the DPI from there. But, as I don't know much about coding, I can't really help you with this...
I just posted this question.

recent button

Hey does anyone know a rom or mod to make both hard buttons back funtion ?
Gravitybox can do that, but you need to be on Nougat and have xposed.

What ROM are you using ? Most ROMs have the ability built in which enables you to modify the hw buttons..
Pure fusion, no limits. They all allow this.
