I would say yes but I cant get my controllers to work with it. The ps4 and xbox controller doesn't register for some reason like it did for my note 5? I haven't hooked up my moga yet but I want to play my emulators and a couple of games that support the controller but unfortunately it doesn't register. As for games running though they run extremely smooth. I've already played nova 3, modern combat and star horizon and they run super smooth.

If you are a gamer then must buy one of these smartphone because Samsung offering 16 freemium games with free bonuses for Galaxy S7 owners. Galaxy S7 and S7 edge owners can visit the Galaxy Game Pack section in the company’s Galaxy Apps store to download all these freemium games.

How future proof...

The title says it all really, but just wondering how future proof everyone sees the GT 10.1 being???
I know that no tech device these days is safe from being outdated pretty quick, but what "life span" does the GT 10.1 have taking into consideration the Tegra Chipset and its age. Also how many Android updates will be compatible in the future???

Not much. I knew that before buying it since it was purchased to replace the ipad that i had
1. Kal-el tablets are right around the corner
2. Higher res screen should be getting released early next year
3. Tegra2 isn't all that great. Not enough native codec support for multimedia
I figured I would get 12-18 months out of the GTab 10.1 before turning it over to one of my sons and getting something newer/fresher. More importantly, I am thinking I won't be buying any $2000 laptops in the near future (say 3-5 years), so the ROI is decent.

Well the battary will last you around 3 years, its still a decend product 1GB Ram and dual core 1GHz truely isnt that bad. If you can wait atleast 2 of those 3 years you can get a really nice Wayne or Logan tablet (tegra 4 & 5) which will be an extremely big upgrade. With that i bet Android 4.0 Icecream sandwich.
I'm just looking to use mine until the second round of kal el tablets are released which should be a bit more optimized than the launch devices. Tablets really aren't all that expensive imo to prohibit frequent upgrades.

Considering it cost me more to replace my Charge (that went surreptitiously "swimming" in a lake) than to buy the GTab 10.1, you make a good point.

If you want h264 1080p high profile video and a faster 3D gaming experience, this tablet will be out of date by early 2012.
If are looking for a great web browsing experience and productivity ... this tablet is more then fast enough. It already provides a beautiful browsing experience that is nearly as fast as a desktop.
For reading mags, browsing webpages ocasional gaming and watching films this is more than good enough.
For hardcore gaming and 1080p video its going to be out of date by end of the year.
But than again... Who on eabrth watches 1080p on 10inch screen?
What sort of games you're going to play on it?
I'm guessing that with new retina displays for tablets tegra 3 will be to weak.
Compare desire hd with 800x480 screen and xperia mini with half of that screen resolution. Scrolling and overall framerate of the system is a lot better on xperia.
Try to run any 3d game that was designed for 800x480 screen and run the same game on 1280x800 honeycomb screen. This game framerate will be a lot slower.
Apparently tegra 2 is a lot lot faster than any single core cpu on mobile device and yet it can't run games designed for smaller screens.
See the irony here?
With bigger resolution you need more processing power.
Try to run reckless gateway on any phone and run this on tablet...
My point is whatever you buy its not going to be enough. Get the galaxy tab and enjoy for next couple of years

And you can always sell the outgoing tablet to help make financial room for the new. Imo get the galaxy tab and enjoy it. Worst case scenario you can always sell and get the latest and greatest down the road. Quirks aside, I, love this device.

Based on my experience watching the same 720p video clip on the galaxy s2 and galaxy tab 10.1, i wouldn't mind a bit more resolution on the galaxy tab 10.1. In comparison to tegra2 setups on cell phones, exynos + mali400mp setup in the galaxy s2 might be more than enough to drive those resolutions (iirc, prior to the release of galaxy s2, there was a tech demo showing 1080p demo game running at 60fps on tv)

And I fully expect to see an Exynos, or Exynos Plus or Super Exynos, or Super Exynos Plus running in a Galaxy Tablet in the future. But that's, well, the future.
This is now.
I may be dead in Q1 of next year, you may be as well. Waiting more than a few weeks is a sucker bet when buying tech, especially when you're waiting for unannounced speculative products that may or may not be all you were waiting for.

Sorry but don't get me wrong.
Remember that this chip built in to the phone needs to run an os, wifi cdma other tasks at the same time. On this video you have pure chip.
Remember that demos of tegra 2 had similar presentation. 1080p on the tv 60fps and that was year a go.
I've had few apps that didn't scale right on my gtab (just tiny window) and they were running perfectly smooth whereas on my dhd I had some lag and glitches.
I just don't think that with kalel there will be so much improvement especially with retina displays
I don't have tegra 2 phone but bang bang racing on gtab/transformer never went above 30 fps, i bet any money that on smaller screen this game is smooth as butter.
Also gouriella bob, try playing normal version and thd. Tegra 2 cannot handle thd version on 10 inch screen its just not smooth enough

Don't forget the fact that SGS2 with chainfire is able to run the same games designed for Tegra with quite a bit of AA turned on(16x in some cases)
This is before we get into the media decoding capabilities builtin.
As for the demo, they did say that same thing ran in stereoscopic 1080p at 60fps which means processing two separate 1080p rendering at 60fps (it's capped to 60fps)
a year maybe!
There is no such thing as future proof.
We need a new forum, just for people who want to discuss USING the tablet, not asking the community to validate their purchase or complain that it's not as good as XYZ tablet. Seems like every second thread is this nonsense.

To be honest this thing will be obsolete by the time nVidia's Kal-El releases. But I'm completely satisfied with my tab 10.1 and could care less what new specs tablets come out with later. This thing is fast enough for my needs and has better hardware than an iPad 2, albeit minus the plastic back but the metallic gray still looks cool. Before this thing came out, my only wish was for a tablet as thin as the iPad 2 but with Android instead.

I wouldn't go as far as saying tegra2 implementation is superior to ipad2's A5 + SGX543MP setup. Simply because of the fact that single core SGX540 setup is very comparable to tegra2 in a lot of ways on android side and there is no NEON support on Tegra2's A9 setup

[Q] Upgrade

Hey guys, I'm finally thinking about upgrading from my Galaxy nexus to a Samsung Galaxy Note 3. I'm not seeing that much of a difference between the note 3 and 4 other than obvious hardware upgrades. I use my phone mainly for games and will likely be using it for alot of record keeping for work and blue tooth features. Is Bluetooth good on the note 3?
Very good my friend saying that, if I didn't have my Note 3, I'd most certainly have the LG G3

when u say gaming heads will turn to nvidia shield tablet But about bluetooth, yes i didn't have any issue with bluetooth on my N3
+
for gaming maybe u like to know Samsung Gear VR that pair with Note4 is awesome gaming accessory
:good:
Or the Nvidia shield as mentioned above but most, if not all of the android Samsung, Sony, LG etc phones that have come out within the last year have the adreno 330 GPU so the graphics is only going to appear different on a higher resolution display

[Q] Note 4 Lag on GTA SanAndreas ?

I have been really waiting to buy the Note 4 since months. I didn't buy the LG G3 mainly due to it's poor performance on the QHD display. Just came across this video on YouTube of Note 4 playing the GTA sanandreas and now I am starting to get a bit skeptical about it's performance. Just hope the game might have not been optimized for Note 4 yet ??
Here is the link
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQ4WgowL3Ls
Here is an interesting article that explains about the poor gaming peformance of Note 4. According to this article, iPhone 6/6 Plus is superior and miles ahead when it comes to gaming. Am i missing something here ? Why is there a lot of difference ?
http://appleinsider.com/articles/14...r-graphics-performance-vs-apple-iphone-6-plus
Clearly a camera issue. He even says in the video that the performance was closer to him playing on a console(PS2/Xbox). Who buys a phone to play games like this anyway? Get a console or a PC to do that, dude! Use your phone to play simple games, like pac-man, or angry birds. No one should expect a phone to perform flawless gaming. That's not it's primary function, just be happy with what you get. Not once have I heard Samsung pitch this phone as a "gaming" phone. It's the Note series man, it's meant for business/productivity/etc, not playing games like a teen. Get a PSP.
Yeah lol. I have been a Samsung fan. I used Galaxy S, S2, S4, Note, Note 2. When you are buying such a high-end phone, you would expect to play games also on your device. If at all you need is to play Angry birds, etc. I would be more than happy with my Note 2 or S4. And yeah top end phones do perform flawless gaming nowadays. Technology has evolved to such a point that no one really feels the need of a PSP anymore. Hope u got my point

Yeah, I get your point. I'm just saying, don't set your standards so high that just because one aspect of it doesn't perform flawlessly, that stops you from recognizing a good phone. I'm not too big on mobile gaming, but the games I do play are a little less graphic/cpu extensive than GTA, so maybe I'm bias. This is a great phone from what I've heard from other users, and what I've experienced in store myself. Not PERFECT, but a definite upgrade to someone like me who currently rocks a Galaxy Nexus haha
I agree it's a great phone no doubt about that. Nothing would stop me from getting this phone. But i was a little worried that's it.
Its quallcom version adreno gpus always had optimization problems with gta games dunno why

My nexus 4 lags alot in high settings htc one m7 and g2/g3 too my exynos note 3 not laggy though
For games resolution shouldn't be an issue, none of the games would run natively at QHD resolution. Forget QHD, most games won't run natively at FHD.
And to @krishelnino, put the threads in appropriate section. Such threads should be under "Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting" forum.
I saw that Gaming video and he says that the performance on standard settings is excellent, smoother than Sony Z3. However, when he maxed out the settings the Gameplay sucked ,worse than Z3. Probably due to display resolution differences.
That's to be expected but what I want to see is how Exynos deals in the same scenario-Max settings! @DelBoy any chance you test your Exynos beast on max settings (see video from 2:50+) and see if performs better than Snapdragon? Thanks!

You didn't watch the entire video. He said it runs well on the lowest settings, so when he upped the quality things got very, very bad.
RR3 ran and looked great when I installed it at BB on a demo. Device never got hot and I played it for about 15 minutes. I wanted to walk out with it.
Both GPUs (Adreno 420 and Mali T760) can't handle such high resolutions very well. But it might have other reasons too, as some games doesn't support such high resolutions natively (as it has been said before).

I doubt that it is the Qualcomm version.
All currently available Note 4 models have the Exynos chip.
The first batch of Qualcomm Notes should be out on the 10th or 17th October.
I also doubt the game has been patched to maximize performance o. The s805 and or Exynos either. It takes weeks for devs to patch games after the new wave of games comes out guys...ask Any Apple fan how the 6+,handles most games at present (re:worse than the 5s)

My Samsung Galaxy Tab S can, and its a higher resolution. So I would lean towards the game needing an update for newer devices.

Before I purchase ..

Hi guys, I am looking to purchase either a Note 4, or Note 5. I have read up on Note 4 reviews and people say it tends to lag, specially the gaming it lags. Is that fixed in the lollipop update? or the lag is still ther?

No I disagree with the rumour. I used to play games in stock lollipop rom without having lag issue with games under 100mb. Not sure with 'heavy' games..

Samsung S7 edge slow on games

Hi,
I've installed Final Fantasy 9 on my new s7 edge.
The game worked perfectly on my htc one m9.
On the samsung s7 edge, there is no lag but the game is slow.
The game is not running at its normal speed and it's very boring....
So, on HTC one m9 I got Snapdragon 810.
The Exynos should do better. The GPU too. But the screen is larger (QHD vs HD).
Maybe the GPU is no powerful enough to display this game on QHD screen ?
Do you see this on this game ? On other games ?
(I try eco mode, with 30FPS and low screen resolution. The same)
Sorry to hear :/
But working smooth on my G935F, at any mode and also with or without game tools (thought it may be related to it).
No issues with G935F btu fw

This probably has less to do with the actual GPU and more to do with whether the game is optimized. Remember this phone has a killer GPU and utilizes Vulcan API. I doubt this phone is lagging behind the M9, I had both btw. Wish you luck.

Even while your point with optimization is probably true, the device is shipped with vulcan api support, the games have to utilize it otherwise it simply isn't used but plain opengl (es) instead.

I have the G930F and I'm experiencing issues as well. I installed pew pew 2 and it lags compared to my HTC M9. I'd say it runs at 15-20 FPS compared to previously on the M9 where is super fluid.
Same feeling with SmashHit and Worms...
Any thoughts?
Solved.
Family from XDA, good day,
I'm from Mexico and I've been using many different roms for my S7 EDGE.
I've installed the NL one, the Germany one, and some others and the one that fix my lag in games is the one from UK.
Yesterday night I've installed the official UK ROM and my games are working a LOT BETTER.
Do you know this silly game called BBTAN? Well, that thing was SO LAGGY in my S7 EDGE, and at the same time it was running smoothly in a Galaxy CORE 2 (YEAH, can you believe it?).
Well, this is the fix for me, and I hope is the one for you all.
