that's pretty good! I had to port a number to cricket to get it for $109, but then it's locked and doesn't come with headphones.

Really good deal for the best phone I've ever had.

How much did you sell your phone for?

I just sold my HTC One X (International) for $350 after tax, shipping, and insurance. How much did you sell your phone for in order to buy the Nexus 4 in a couple days.
I sold my 16GB T-Mobile Galaxy S III with a dented corner (dropped it) for $390 locally on craigslist. I figure that after tax and shipping costs, I should break about even for the Nexus 4 and I didn't want to deal with Ebay and all their fees.

Generous!
I'm going to sell my perfect and pristine (screen etc) white Gnex for about 250 Euro, I think. However, going to wait a little longer for some 'good news' we are all hoping for. I wonder, have there been rev.2 Gnexi, hardware wise?
Haven't yet as I need a phone while I wait for the Nexus! How could I possibly sell mine before getting a new phone and be left phoneless? No sir, would never happen voluntarily!
Anyhoo, after a couple of days to make sure there are no major problems with the Nexus, I intend to trade in my Galaxy S2 for £147 in my local CEX shop. I know I could get more for it on Amazon but there's no guarantee of a sale and it's far more convenient to just walk into the shop than faffing around with the postage and packaging etc.
So that effectively halves the price of the 16GB Nexus 4 which I intend to buy.
Roll on Nexus 4 release!!! :victory:

Sold my Atrix 2 for 278 USD. Paid 326 USD on January.

16 GB Moto G costs 199 $ in US i.e. Rs 12500 approx. So it will not be less than Rs 15000 here I'm planning to get one from US
Looking at the Nexus 5 pricing and as they will have to include headphones in the box as per Indian law, I think 16gb will cost around 18k. I hope Motorola prices it close to 15k.
Moto G 8GB is available for Rs.15,990 and 16GB for Rs.17,990 at eBay India including all taxes and import duties. It was imported from US.

But how about warranty? I doubt whether motorola will accept US phones for warranty in India.
Also, they have mentioned dual sim model. When will this be launched?

People who import products from US/UK often won't care about warranty which we won't surely get. But the seller who is selling US Moto G 8GB and 16GB on eBay India is saying he is giving one year warranty and 10 day replacement guarantee. ALWAYS enquire the seller before buying on eBay.
But at the moment its the cheapest option available instead of importing manually for who can't wait for the official launch of Moto G in India.
16 - 17K
Right now, Moto G costs 200USD [16GB version]
Convert that to INR = Around 12,000 Rs
+ Around 30% Tax = 16,500 - 17,000 Rs

Where did you get that 30% tax figure from?
It's 6%... and there are some other charges too. But OEMs import in bulk.. it is subsidized.
It'll effectively be around 10-15% tops
prices of smartphones in india are almost same as in UK, where 16gb versions costs about 16K (inr), so adding a charger+Dual Sim+Headphones may increase price upto 2K so i think 16-18K is a good guess for 16gb version in india. Also if they launch single sim version without charger and headphones, it would be a better option
If they do price it at 16-18K then I don't think its going to sell a lot. The Micromax canvas 4 is a good deal at around 16K. And there are a ton of other phones cheaper than that with better specs.
Altough the Moto G will get KitKat faster and will be the one supported by the community more.

Should be around 15k. Am looking forward for getting my hands on the 16gigs variant too as soon as it lands here. Hoping that Moto will be providing warranty here.

had Motorola not promised KitKat for Moto G, it wud be senseless to buy it over Canvas 4 or Canvas Turbo or other Sino-Indian phones.

nope.. 16.5k for single-SIM 16 GB, without charger & headphones.
Here's how I calculated-
Nexus 5 : Moto G
= $349 : $199
= Rs 28999 : Rs 16535
(come on! Congress won't lower the taxes)
And of course warranty will be there because it'll be "officially launched" like Nexus 5 (not like Nexus 4).
P.S.- I think, we would get more of dual-SIM ones (expectedly costing Rs 1.5k more) before single-SIM ones become readily available.
By then if Nexus 4 drops to 20k, it wud be a more sensible buy than Moto G.

but that was about ancient feature phones (non-android RAZR, ROKR, etc.)
Despite Qualcomm chipset & Gorilla Glass 3, Moto G is priced quite low, which means all other components are cheap and as bad as LG's.
So, in terms of durability Nexus 4 should be as good as Moto G.
Had Moto G been costlier, we could have considered it to be more durable than Nexus 4, but not now.
Anyway.. if Nexus 4 sticks to 21.5k and Moto G costs no more than 16.5k, then of course Moto G will be the winner.

Technically, tax isn't applied on imports! Its only the shipping charge and customs levied (if a relative sends you the device, then no customs). So, basically it should be 14-15K max.
30% tax? LOL!

UK pricing - going up, not down!

Normally a few months after the initial surge of interest in a product dies down, the price tends to drop a little. However for some reason the Note 10.1 2014 seems to be going up if anything here in the UK, although in the States it does appear to be dropping.
The US price is now generally around $499 (plus tax) for the wi-fi model, while the UK price has gone up from under £400 a few months ago (£365 at John Lewis I gather) to nearer £450 most places.
Does anyone know what's going on, have Samsung UK increased their suggested price or something?

When I saw the UK prices, it really baulked me.
I wanted a tablet that not only worked on Wi-Fi, but 3G, 4G/LTE, but I couldn't get one, especially a 32Gb model, which I consider to be the basement model (I wouldn't even consider a 16Gb).
I nearly paid the extra for an Ipad, however I decided to do more research and in the end I imported one from HK and even when I paid the VAT on it, it came in significantly cheaper than some of the prices of the 16Gb, Wi-Fi model.
It's worth doing a little extra research and importing it yourself and get a better specified machine, at a lower price.
I could pick one up in the States next time I'm over there, but I'm a little wary of not having a proper international warranty as that caught me out once (thanks Samsung, so much for global corporations!).
16GB actually doesn't worry me as long as it has an SD card slot, much cheaper to put 64GB onto it that way than pay for a bigger base model. Well, upcoming stock KitKat stupidities notwithstanding anyway, but that won't be hard to fix.

Why buy a 16Gb one? You can get the 32Gb version quite easily over there, but the currency conversion made it more expensive to buy it from the US, also I used PayPal to pay for it, so I had a bit of protection too.
My SM-P605 has a 64Gb card in and I'm already running low on memory, so I only hope that the new SanDisk 128Gb card comes out soon at a reasonable price.
I think a few places had them on offer just before and after christmas. Got mine from John Lewis for £399 in mid jan, took ages to find somewhere with one in stock at that price. There were quite a few places charging (or trying to) over £500! I think about £450 was the average book price but so many places were out of stock, or were trying to sell the old one still at £399........
They want to sell the new Tab 10.1 at such a high price, that they had to raise that of the note, to keep people from going straight for a note instead.
Let's be honest. Samsung charging iPad+ prices for the Pro/Note series takes balls of steel. Android tablets are bought typically by bargain seekers unwilling to pay iPad prices and are typically 7-8" and under $250. One thing iPads have always provided was a certain cache and snob appeal; everyone knows what everyone else paid. With the Pro/Note's Samsung seems to be raising the snob appeal. With the 16GB iPad Air at 399 GBP whether Samsung prices at 375 GBP or 425 GBP it's still close enough that if people really considered a high-end Android tablet as an iPad alternative they'd still buy it. I don't think someone predisposed to an iPad would say "I'll buy the Samsung Tab|Pro because I'll save 50 GBP." How many people think a high-end Android tablet is an iPad alternative is a whole different discussion and will be proven by the success (or failure) of Samsung's strategy in offering the Pro/Note series in the first place.
The G-Tab 4 certainly is a step down in design and specs so perhaps Samsung's strategy is to make the 4's their volume seller (EG: BMW 3-series) and the Pro/Note's their margin leader (EG: BMW 7-series).
Apparently the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 will pack a 10.6″ (odd, right?) display of 1280×800 pixels resolution and will run on Snapdragon 400 chipset with a quad-core 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 processor, Adreno 305 GPU and 1.5GB of RAM. Other revealed specs are the 3MP rear and the 1.2MP front camera, 16GB internal storage (12GB actually available) and the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS. Digging into the GFX Benchmark database you can also find the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0. It has absolutely the same specs but less screen estate.

And gave up your 2 year UK warranty in the process. Or you can ship it round trip to HK at your expense to have warranty repairs done there. Does Samsung UK even service grey market devices for a fee? Samsung U.S. won't. I had to ship my UK-purchased i9100 back to the UK for a cracked bezel. Caveat Emptor.
The guy I bought it from is a dealer. He will sort any warranty issues and is in the UK. I spoke to him before I bought it.

Possible to order this tablet from US to India?

I am still interested in this tablet but the price in India is completely ridiculous, around 47000 (almost $800) for the 32 GB 3G version. I thought Samsung might lower it over time but the price hasn't budged in 9 months.
I am interested in the 16GB Wifi version which seems to be available for around $350 refurbished on Amazon. I was wondering if any Indian posters have ordered it through them and what the final price is after shipping, taxes etc.
Online / store price the best that I have seen is INR 45,500...
But I agree on both counts
1. Price has certainly proved resistant to lowering
2. Its expensive (currently picked up an ipad air 16 gb for 36k at amazon india)
Have not ordered this from US as I will prefer to buy it local because
1. Warranty and repair service - god forbid something goes wrong with the tablet, doubt samsung would honor the warranty of another country and am not confident on the situation of parts and all for a model not sold here locally...service in India stinks!
2. Custom duties - we have some crazy custom duties typicall plus add the cost of shipping and chances are whatever savings in the price you get will be nullified by the cost of having it delivered in your hands.
Me, even if I could accept the second.l, cannot accept the first as I don't want to end up with an expensive paper weight.
Purely my own thoughts, yours may of course vary.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda premium
I agree with your points which is why I wondered if anyone had any personal experience of ordering from India especially with respect to point 2. If the savings are sufficient I would be prepared to risk the lack of warranty.
Samsung has really missed the boat with pricing on this tablet. They could have easily launched the 16GB wifi version for 35. And it's baffling that they have refused to reduce the price. The Note 3 which was released at the same time is now 38 and the GS5 which was released 6 months later is 35. Hopefully once they launch the newer version, the price on the 2014 will drop sharply.
i just received mine yesterday. i bought it via amazon.
It was used( open box Like new). And really is just new unit. But there is little bump on back side near samsung logo.( I searched on google and many new unit also have same issue. and anyway its not noticable.)
Price was $387 (including fast shipping in 2-5 days). It converted into 24263 inr (always place order in USD).
It shipped via fedex. custom duty is little less than 15%.+ fedex fees and service tax. Totally i paid 4268 inr as duty.
Its super easy just make everything clear with seller.
I hope it helps you.
Thanks. So it works out to around 29000. I have to say that's quite tempting even given the warranty issues.
Yeah that's the reason i got one.

Moto X Pure refurbished by the manufacturer

Hi,
I'm looking to buy the X Pure 32 GB. I'm in Canada and the phone is not sold here. That also means Amazon.com won't ship to my address, same for B&H and BestBuy... And I can't buy directly from Motorola either...
I'm checking on Ebay and there are quite a few 32/64 GB available that are " manufacturer refurbished" and at reasonable prices that could be shipped here. . Can I trust these? Is their a Motorola warranty on these too? What do you think? Should I stick with brand new only?
I've bought refurbished computers and tablets in the past without problems, but never a cell phone...
Thanks for any input.
As long as they have good feedback why not?
I'm not really worried about the feedbacks but more on the reliability of these refurbished phones and about a warranty. Anyone?
There are 64GB ones at $300-$330 that are very tempting. Some come without the turbopower charger though, but I can get it from elsewhere.
You should do some research on the warranty. Normally refurbished means in just-bought-new-and-never-unboxed mode.
Sent from my MotoG3 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I can't find anything after Googling it... And anyway, as I'm in Canada, looks like I'm SOL anyway, as Moto warranty seems to cover only stuff sent from the US....
