[TwrpBackup][Kiwi-L22] (Indian Version) - Honor 5X Guides, News, & Discussion

THIS IS THE TWRP BACKUP TAKEN ON KIWI-L22 .
I THINK MANY KNOW VERY WELL HOW TO RESTORE A TWRP BACKUP ,BUT I THINK TO GIVE THE GUIDE TOO AS STILL WE FIND NOOBS . LETS MAKE THIS THREAD FRIENDLY FOR THEM TOO.
GUIDE:
1) TAKE A BACKUP OF BOOT.IMG FROM RECOVERY . ( THIS WIL CREATE ALL THE REQUIRED DIRECTORIES FOR RESTORE GO SMOOTH)
2)I COMPRESSED WHOLE TWRP FOLDER . SO JUST EXTRACT IT . OPEN ALL THE FOLDER AND AT THE END U WIL FIND ALL THE BACKUP FILES IN THIS FOLDER NAMED "2016-02-28--03-14-15_KIW-L22C675B130".
3) NOW COPY ALL THE BACKUP FILES AND PASTE THEM IN THE TWRP FOLDER WHICH LOOKS SIMILAR TO "2016-02-28--03-14-15_KIW-L22XXXXXX " IN THE INTERNAL MEMOERY OR SDCARD WHICH U TOOK PREVIOUS BACKUP OF BOOT.IMG
WHAT NEXT ? GOTO RECOVERY AND RESTORE . :highfive:
NOTE :
THIS BACKUP HAS STOCK RECOVERY , UNTOUCHED SYSTEM AND BOOT IMAGES.
DOWNLOAD
THANK ME IF THIS HELPED YOU SOMEHOW .

How did you take a backup of stock recovery using TWRP? Did you flash TWRP or just soft boot it?
Was your phone rooted?

yes apparently you can just fastboot boot TWRP and take a Stock backup with stock recovery. It works in both b130 and b140 on the L24
Code:
C:\fastboot>adb devices
List of devices attached
GFMDU16********* device
C:\fastboot>adb reboot bootloader
C:\fastboot>fastboot boot C:\fastboot\kiwi_2_17_recovery.img
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 1.433s]
booting...
OKAY [ 0.020s]
finished. total time: 1.455s
C:\fastboot>fastboot reboot
< waiting for device >
rebooting...
finished. total time: 0.002s
C:\fastboot>

Yip I first booted twrp from fastboot and then took a backup before flashing it !

Thanks. I know the code.
Nowadays many phones don't let you just boot off a custom recovery without flashing it.
It's great to see that the Honor 5x has that ability.

Yip thats the reason why we got stock recovery for safe flash of regular updates from HONOR

thanksss you soo much bro!!
its working you save my life

Software install failed!

Hi guys,
I have a honor 6 plus (PE-TL10), it was running EMUI 4. I flashed TWRP 2.8.7 and then wiped all partitions through it(cust, system, etc) then flashed stock recovery back, now i am trying to install EMUI 4.0.1(Android 6.0) via 3 buttons Huawei update but it stops at 5% and fails. Can you guys provide me with any help, I really need it.
Also now when i am trying to wipe data thru stock recovery i get an weird error message at almost 25% saying "reset balong modem setting fail", which making it more difficult to get back stock rom.
Just last question; the Unbrick option in the "HONOR_6_and_6Plus_Multi-Tool", wil it restore the device to stock rom and fully functional state after that or it will miss some parts of the stock rom ?
Many thanks and regards

For you to restore to stock you need to flash boot, recovery, system and cust.
Make sure you have stock boot and recovery to for forced update (3 buttons).
What happens in most of the cases is boot and recovery files are corrupt.
I would try the unbrick of the Multitool. If it fails, I would flash manually all img files for each partition. But using the same firmware version as the last installed one.
Post your results and I will try to help.
1:Extract the ROM with huawei update extractor
2:download latest minimal adb and fastboot drivers and install them
3ut the extracted system.img,recovery.img,cust.img,boot.img and userdata.img into the fastboot.exe folder
4: boot into the fastboot mode
And finally flash the above mentioned imgs one by one with this command
fastboot flash XXX XXX.img
After flashing files type
Fastboot reboot
and every thing should be fine again

Thank you for answering, I did used Huawei MultiTool and Unbricked my device. I flashed four img files(SYSTEM,CUST,RECOVERY,BOOT) and now i am back to stock rom and running smoothly.
I tried to use force update feature on my device after that but again i got the same result, it stopped at 5% and failed. I guess i will keep it the way it's now.
Many thanks; you guys are awesome!

Thank you, I did that except for userdata.img file, the Huawei MultiTool only mentioned 4 files(system, recovery, boot, cust). Now my device is running back again on stock rom. Should I flash userdata.img file or is it ok?
Just a question that i keep asking myself; inside the stock update.app file there are 22 img files, what do they do? I only flashed four of them so what purpose do the rest serve as? if the device can operate fully functional with four of them!
Many thanks,

Don't use any other img file. And don't flash userdata.
If it works, don't change it. ?
Got similar issue on my honor 6. Can't update via SD card method or 3 button after leaving developer preview. Not even OTA updates install. All fail at 5%. So I'm stuck on B830 for now. Will try for a solution later.

No, this twrp cannot install supersu. It can not mount the data so it can install files but the files will not do anything. I have not tried to backup and restore with this chinese twrp. You can also mount the system partition manually then you can cut and paste in the root directory.

I can view the files in the root directory. When the phone in this recovery you can reboot, shutdown, reboot recovery, or reboot bootloader. You can also use other functions like factory reset, format data,...The main features likes flashing the files will not work since it cannot mount the data partition.

Yeah...the update.zip has them all but you can't flash everything via fastboot...some partitions are hardly protected...like the OEM info and the vendor...you ether find a suitable backup or use DC Phoenix to flash a stock ROM on your device

I was thinking abt flashing the stock recoveries and then i put the firmware in the dload folder and try to update from the stock recovery...... is that possible ?
Click to collapse
As far as I know...the dload method does not work on the nougat based devices... it always failed on my device
