Aroma installer not working - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After lots of hesitating, I rooted again.
I installed TWRP 3.0 and downloaded phronesis v6.
I continued to install it, but while the text "Starting AROMA installer" appeared, TWRP froze and after a few seconds it restarted into my normal system. I tried 2 other roms, same issue.
TWRP 3.0 was the culprit I thought. Well, I flashed CWM 6.0.4.8 and tried it. It freezes and doesn't do anything.
Now, what is the problem exactly here?

After lots of trying to post this article due to my internet, I tried Philz and it works. Don't blame me, blame the infrastructure of my provider. Well, blame me anyways.

Twrp 3.0 isn't a aroma friendly. Flash with 2.8.7.0 and below.

So, the latest version of PHILZ will work out with the aroma installer? For sure?
I can't open TWRP 2.8.7 or lower version with the original stock rom (5.0) rooted version...... How is that possible?

I had the same problem as the Topic Starter. its going to freeze if the rom wants to start arom installer using TWRP 3.0.....
So that why i ask if philz is working okey with aroma installer and that is not going to freeze like TWRP 3.0..?
Thanks.

Someone who has a working download link of Philz touch? Can't find one
it's for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9005 international version...
Thank you all ready

Same problem.. need quick n fast solution
Hey. I have Note 3 N900. I have same issue. While installing ROM from CWM and also Philz recovery. AROMA installer freezez nd phone restarts. Could it be a problem with kernal? I've installed another ROM before. Download mode says binary is custom.
Should I try flashing stock rom and try again?

Hi There,
RE: TWRP
I recommend using TWRP 2.8.7.0, Its not the latest release but its the most reliable. TWRP 3.0+ have only froze when attempting any aroma file. Even when flashing without aroma, I have still had flash errors and reboots and have always had to retreat back to 2.8.7-, this is really unfortunate as there are extra capabilities in 3.0+ that would be good to have. If you still want to use 3.0+ but want aroma-ish options you can script your own instructions in a gapps-config file. Instructions here: https://github.com/opengapps/opengapps/wiki/Advanced-Features-and-Options
RE: ClockWorkMod
These are the two best sources for CWM recoveries. I have found CWM 6.0.4.8 & PhilzTouch working good.
i) http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/ClockworkMod_Recovery
ii) https://www.droidwiki.de/wiki/ClockWorkMod
iii) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2201860 --- XDA Philz Touch Thread
With CWM/Philz you can use aroma with CWM/Philz, just download clockwork aroma file manager (aromafm) attached. Put the aromafm.zip in "clockworkmod/aromafm/aromafm.zip" in any of the storage volumes. Read the quick guide in Philz xda thread for instructions on themes, configuration, formatting as folder placement is important.

Aroma installer freezing is solved by using recovery TWRP v2.8.7.0
I can confirm, that Aroma installer is freezing on Samsung Galaxy Note3 SM-N9005 (hltexx) when using TWRP v3.x+, but works fine, when using TWRP v2.8.7.0 recovery.
I use Dual Boot Patcher for install multiple ROMs on my Note3 (note: Dual Boot Patcher supports not just Note3, but more than 300 other phones).

Aroma installer is used by DualBootUtilities, when I want to change to boot another ROM from Recovery.
After suffering a lot from Aroma installer is freezing when flashing DualBootUtilities, I got redirected to this thread, where I found the solution, so I flashed recovery TWRP v2.8.7.0.
Finally, when flashing DualBootUtilities-9.3.0.r407.g9a902091.zip works successfully on Samsung Galaxy Note3 SM-N9005 (hltexx) thanks to TWRP v2.8.7.0! No freeze!

(I can confirm, that Aroma installer is freezing on Samsung Galaxy Note3 SM-N9005 (hltexx) when using TWRP v3.x+, but works fine, when using TWRP v2.8.7.0 recovery.)

[Q] Lg G2 D803 flashing problems

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to flash a rom for the first time and I've been fighting with TWRP for the last week or so. Here's what I've done. LG G2 D803 Rogers Canada
1. Rooted Device.
2. Installed TWRP Manager and Installed TWRP Recovery Image (2.6.3.2) and I can restore with no issues.
3. Downloaded latest PA 4.4 roms for my phone version (LG G2 D803), including the most recent GAPPS (mini modular). And transferred to phone.
4. Reboot into recovery.
5. Wipe Cache, Dalvik, Data, ... etc)
6. Select install ROM.
7. Get error right away (E:Error executing updater binary in zip)
8. Flashing rom FAILED.
What can I do to fix this?
My device is not supported on CWMR, so I'm not sure if that would work. Also, I've tried downloading older roms, so I'm pretty sure it's not a bad download issue.
Thanks for any help!
TWRP 2.6.3.2 isn't the latest release, so that might be your problem. Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469995 flash the new zip from your current TWRP, and you should be able to flash KitKat ROMs now. Or, if you prefer CWM, there's PhilZ Touch CWM here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2554053

Hey guys. I'm having the hardest time flashing anything right now. I'm on the 2.6.3.2 and I get the binary updater problem so then I tried flashing other twrp then I get the fast boot error then I tried philz touch then I get boot certification verify error.
All I want to do is flash a 4.4.2 rom.
Canadian rom D803 here.
Thanks
wootever's TWRP 2.6.3.4 oakster15 had posted above worked on my D803, however there are a couple of 2.6.3.4 download versions that didn't work when I flashed it while running TWRP 2.6.3.2. I'm not familar with loki but I'm guessing the one that worked had been "loki-fied".

Hey Guys,
As someone with a D803 variant of the G2, I had been pulling my hair out the last few days on this. Anyway, thanks to the Mahdi team, I was able to get TWRP 2.7.1.0 via this link:

The 4.4.4 rom I flashed was made by the Mahdi team and can be found here:

Phone wont boot into philz touch recovery or clocockword mod

Hi
I flashed philztouch using Odin and it doesnt boot into philz recovery, only normal one. I then instaleed rom amanger and clockworkmod but it doesnt doesnt boot into clockwork recovery.
additional info, android robot falls over when trying
Im trying to install xposed but need to do it through recovery
I don't recommend Philz or CWM as development of both seems to have stopped. I would got with TWRP from here: twrp.me.
Download the tar version of TWRP for your phone, open Odin, uncheck everything except f.reset time, put TWRP in the PDA box, flash the phone, when you see the word reset in the status window, remove USB cable from the phone, remove battery, wait 5 seconds, replace battery, use buttons to boot into recovery.

No.
Also uninstall rom manager. You cannot use it anyway. Just flash TWRP with Odin and uncheck auto-reboot before flashing.

Ok mate I followed your instructions and it installed custom recovery successfully. One last thing, which version of Xposed do I install? There are many versions in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3113463
Unfortunately, I don't use xposed so I can't help you select a version to install.
Before installing any xposed version, I recommend using twrp to create a backup of your working rom in case you need to restore and start over.

Read my friend You would know which version to use. You cannot use the standard Xposed because Samsung has made big changes compared to stock Android. You can only use this version.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3113463
I assume you are on stock so you need to deodex your rom first. If you just flash Xposed then it will not work. You can also flash a custom rom because those are deodexed.

I installed imperium but i had to uninstall xposed to log into snapchat, then I installed xposed-sdk21-arm-20150430-arter97-V3, now my phone is stuck on the samsung logo...
start again from scratch if you can get into recovery, flash your rom and create a backup before flashing xposed. reading the threads you take files from is essential for staying out of trouble...
if the thread is massive, read the first and last 10 pages

CWM/TWRP issue.

Had some issues with my phone which ended up in a bootloop and I had to flash the Stock Firmware.
Stock is up and running, All good. Rooted.
But when I try to flash aryarom .zip on either recovery it gets stuck.
CWM gets stuck.
TWRP gets stuck and reboots into recovery again.
::UPDATE::
Installed SlimKat Rom.
It Flashed Fine.
But when installing Aroma based installer it gets stuck.
Know that feel, bro. It also happens on some AOSP-ROMs on my Note 4 (Qualcomm Intl.).

They used to worked fine..juuuust fine. But after the ordeal with a few bad choice flashing, And going back to stock. I cannot install anything thats Aroma Based. However AOSP is running just fine. Just flashed Resurrection Remix Marshmallow. And it is working fine. So am weirded out. Why is aroma being all weird now.
Philz recovery works fine for me .
Did you check the MD5 ? Maybe the rom's zip file is corrupted .... If you use twrp, use the 2.8.7.0 not the 3.0.0.0

What base are you on ? As long as you are on 5.1.1 then I'd recommend DN5, both erobot and sixperience have the theme engine as well but don't seem to be supported anymore.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/development/5-0-1-dn-rom-e-team-t3031712
I'm not sure CF auto root actually works anymore because of selinux , been that long since I tried it.
I've never known anyone get bootloop flashing the correct twrp. Once you have twrp installed dont do anything except flash dn5 (if thats the one you choose), don't select root in twrp you should be ok just flashing the rom

Download dn5 zip to your sdcard reboot to recovery and flash the zip file through twrp that's it. If you want to go back to stock you just download the latest firmware for your region from sammobile and flash that through odin. That simple, but I think you will probably stay on custom especially if you want theme store
Edit
Yes every thing is ok in odin, just always check that repartition is never ticked by accident. Repartition should always be left unticked

is there any way to backup my apps so that I don't lose them after the process and also to backup the whole firmware in case I get a bootloop?
You shouldn't lose them tbh but you can do one of 2 things. 1 make a full back-up in recovery before you flash dn5 (think you can backup un rooted never actually tried)
2 flash latest su zip in recovery to get root then use titanium backup or similar to back them up. There may actually be an app in the playstore that doesn't need root to backup apps just can't remember what it's called
