The only thing it does when inplug it in is charges..
I recently flashed back to stock mm I was running trupure it was fine then it would connect and recognized by PC.
I have installed and installed adb driver many times.
My PC does recognize my other phone LG g3.

Tap on the "Charging mode" notification when your USB is connected and you'll get a pop-up that let's you select MTP mode.
Alternatively you can go to Device Manager and look for any error icons (think they're yellow triangles - been a while since I used a PC). Right click and uninstall all the offending ones, the disconnect and reconnect your device via USB.

In a lot of MM roms, you have to go in to developer options and select MTP under 'MTP configuration' in there. Even if it's selected already, tap it again and it should pop up asking what to do when device is connected on the pc. $5 says that does the trick. Easy but surprisingly tough one. One other problem I'm running into lately with the new windows 10 is that it has driver signing enabled by default and often rejects the driver you install or just doesn't use it even if it's installed. So if the driver is the problem (or more accurately windows 10 is refusing to acknowledge the installed driver), you might need to disable driver signing enforcement. Here's a link how to do that: http://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how...8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/

Weren't you having quick charge problems too? Is it possible your phone's USB port has a hardware problem?

I did flash stock mm and that's when this started happening, I flashed stock mm because I was having issues with turbo charge on a ROM I was using. But flashing back to stock mm didn't help and now I can't even connect my phone to my PC..

THANK YOU!!! I've been waiting for someone else to have the same problem!!! I'm relieved it's not just mine. I'm assuming you did a manual install also? Is yours rooted? One person suggested ClockworkMod but I'm a little nervous about rooting. I've been doing the manual installs but that's as for as I wanna go. I can't stand the idea of bricking my phone.
My phone is new out of the box!
I found that on two Windows XP machines USB storage doesn't work. I then plugged it into a Win7 box and it worked perfectly. I also used a different cable with the Win7. Try a different cable and try Win7.

I have Windows XP on my work PC and Windows 7 Premium 64 on my home notebook and the USB worked fine on 2.3.3. Every since I did the manual install of 2.3.4 the USB functionality is gone. I'm thinking maybe the ROM is used wasn't incomplete. It's beginning to look like the only way to fix this is to root my phone
FWIW I did the manual update (full rom) and USB storage works fine on my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 box.

Yeah, I'm thinking maybe the one I installed wasn't the full ROM. As soon as I see people saying it works great I go ahead and use it. Do you know of any possible fixes without rooting?
No first hand experience, but would it be possible to download the full rom and manually flash it again?

Trying to figure that out. I've been told try ClockworkMod and go back to 2.3 but I'm trying to do it without rooting.
Try a different USB port
If the update was incomplete, the update would have failed the signature check. The first time I connected my Nexus S after manually patching to 2.3.4, Windows 7 Professional X64 did not detect it when connected. I unplugged it and used a different USB port and it worked. I then tried the original port and it also worked. I would try a different USB port and a scan in Device Manager before changing the ROM.

I also have Windows 7 Prof. 64 bit, but switching to different ports didn't work. It won't install the drivers. What else could that mean if it isn't the ROM?
I had this problem immediately after flashing CWM.
I booted into the ROM, then, while the USB was plugged in, powered off the device, and turned it back on. It then seems to work everytime I turn on the device, as long as I don't boot into recovery.
Me too
.
I had a the same problem with my SGS.
The trick for me did: disable usb-legacy-support in your motherboard-bios.
Have you tried re-installing USB driver from the latest android SDK?
Kind of strange, it was working great yesterday and today couldn't connect. Right clicked on android_winusb.inf and selected install and it started working again. Not sure what could have changed from one day to the next. But at least I know what to do when it happens again.

Never tried that. Doesn't that involve rooting or unlocking the bootloader? Both of those wipe the USB storage.

Don't have a custom ROM. All I did was manual bootload 2.3.4 on stock Android. The weird thing is when it's plugged in(charging only) and I turn it off, it starts to power down and then freeze. The screen doesn't go black until I pull it out. Then when I plug it back in it automatically powers back on. Basically, I can't seem to plug it in while it's powered off.
I have no idea why but my suddenly works again. Im happy but confused
You shouldn't need any drivers at all for windows XP vista 7 ect. Mounting your SD card, using flash drives... all use the same USB mass storage divice driver built into windows.

Yes, I just tried this. It still doesn't seem to work. It keeps saying my drivers are up to date but it's still not connecting to my USB storage.

[Q] PC/Laptop No Longer Recognizes S4

The device is stock. I am using the stock USB cable and have tried both my PC and Laptop to no avail. I have tried installing the USB drivers from samsung.com, updating Kies and everything. I have tried every single USB port on my PC and on my Laptop, none have worked. It sometimes says the driver has been successfully installed, but then Kies says I should try Kies 3 which then says its an unsupported device. I am so stuck. Thanks for your help.
If you can live without kies uninstall it. It'll interfere with your usb drivers.

Go into device manager, view, show hidden devices. Then delete all the usb devices that are greyed out. This is kind of a pita. Then reboot your pc, then let it find your device by plugging in the usb cable.

Rebooted. Still nothing.
Get a new quality cable.
Does the USB icon appear at top of phone. If so, pull down menu and tap on the usb listing and select a different connection and see if that works, like camera etc.
It could be a hardware issue. Take it to a store.
Is USB Debugging selected on phone?
You could after all else fails, Use a wireless app to back up personal phone data and do a factory reset. Even using MyBackUP pro and putting backup on ext sdcard.
Maybe even pull sdcard and pull battery and reinsert/rebooot with no sdcard.
Kinda grasping on some of these ideas--
One last thought. Are the usb ports 2.0 and not 3.0? 3.0 don't work.
Sent from my Nexus 5
good point jd, forgot that one
also some talk of taking the 4.3 update causing usb issues--only 2 pages, scan thru it--:good:

Do the ##3284# Menu an see if MTP and ADB is checked.
If that doesn't work find a USB Storage app from the play store and that forces it in that mode. If that still doesn't work then you need to gather up all your Micro USB cords and try every one. Or use the one that came in the box
I had that same problem before, I fixed it by uninstalling drivers and installing again. Maybe flash another rom and see if that works. I know if you have usb fast charging enabled enabled on ktkernel that will prevent your computer from recognizing phone. Good luck

Assuming, you have no problem with your USB port, USB cable, installed latest LG USB Driver 4.0.4, running Windows 7 or 10...
We need more detailed info from your part to tackle this problem. Are you running on stock rom, kitkat or lollipop? Are your rooted and do you have TWRP recovery?
Then, you need to disable "USB debugging" from the "Developer options" menu. Then replug your USB cable and you can now select MTP instead of charging only mode. Good luck.

i have fought the no mtp problem and everytime i lost. if you try new things they just dont work. what has worked was to reformat computer then it will work..
I had the same problem with my G2. Unknown usb device, and the error was: "unable to get device descriptor" or something similar. Tried all software solution without success, so i have started to looking for hardware defect. I've changed the usb module, but no success. So, as a last chance, tried another mainboard. And "tadaaaa"... That was the problem. So, start to look for a working g2 with cracked screen, as i did.

Can't get ADB Working on PH-1

Assuming you're using Windows, open device manager, plug and unplug your device to see which one it is and with device plugged in, right click on it and uninstall. Then unplug and plug your device back in, and let it do its thing to install the driver.
Instead of uninstalling, you can also right click to update the driver and then choose from drivers installed on your computer and select the right one. I find from my experience, if you uninstall and then manually update if there's an issue works better.
Or start with trying another cable first just in case.

When you plug the cable into the phone it should say in debugging mode.
Got it everyone. Reinstalled ADB and works like a charm.
